Mackenzie dressed up as a butterfly for Halloween.

Addison was a quick moving ladybug for Halloween.

Mackenzie trying on Daddy's shoes. She tried to walk but couldn't.

Addison was a little more successful walking in Daddy's shoes. It must be the bigger feet.

Mackenzie "Baby Thug" Schmidt trying out her new hat knit by her grandma.

November 9, 2009 ~ Bookworm

There is no doubt about it...Addison is going to be the kid with the flashlight under the covers reading after the lights go out.  Besides the fact that she loves books and will sit and read a book aloud to herself, tonight when Ian picked her up to snuggle before being put to bed, she never let go of the book Goodnight Moon.  Her head was on his shoulder and her arm draped over with the book hanging down in her hand.  He laid her down and said good night and then I went over to say good night and she had the book open and was looking at it in the very dim light of their bedroom.  I think even after I turned the light out all the way, she was probably still looking at the book.  Gotta love her!

November 8, 2009

The end of the quarter is upon me and I've been busy with grading, report cards, planning, and getting ready for parent teacher conferences.  So that's why there has been a pause in the blog.  I still have a lot to do so just a quick update/ review of the past week.

~ Today Mackenzie was crying because I wouldn't let her hold my cell phone.  Addison came up to her, patted her on the back and said, "It's okay."

~ Addison loves picking up acorns!  And she'll carry them around forever.  She has a great memory too.  We saw this dead bee on the sidewalk yesterday and when we went past the same spot today, she pointed to it and said 'bee'.  Addison calls all birds, 'ducks'.  She loves pointing out 'puppies' and 'babies'.  And every time she hears a train whistle, she says, "choo, choo."  Tonight as I was rocking her before bed, we heard a train whistle in the distance and in a sleepy voice, never lifting her head off my shoulder, she said, "choo, choo."  Addison is much more verbal than Mackenzie right now.  Mackenzie repeats but Addison initiates conversation.

~ I'm finding it difficult to think up responses to the constantly repeated question, "Where'd it (plane, puppy, something she just ate) go?"

~ They love running/toddling.  We will race down the hall after saying, "ready, set, go."  They also love being chased.  Tonight Addison added a new twist to the game.  She said, "gonna get you" as she ran past me giggling anticipating me to run after her and "get her".

~ A new favorite game is buckling the straps on their booster seats.  Addison is quite proficient at it.  Mackenzie works diligently at it but doesn't usually get them together.  They haven't figured out how to unbuckle their straps and I don't intend to show them.

~ The day Ian's mom brought over their new knit hats, the girls found it very amusing to pull it over their eyes and run around.  I was very impressed with how well they know their environment since they moved quite quickly through the condo.

October 29, 2009 ~ Boo! As I was working on dinner tonight, the girls decided to help me rearrange the dishwasher.  Apparently they've been talking to their Goon-pa and Auntie Jess and Uncle Clayton and found out that I wasn't loading the dishwasher correctly.  So they decided to help me out.  So selfless... During dinner t...

April 10, 2009 ~ My spring break is rapidly coming to a close and I haven't done half of the things I was hoping to accomplish (my "to do" list is always twice as long as I can possibly do). However I have relaxed and spent some quality time with Addison and Mackenzie and my parents who are visiting from Oregon. Addison and Mackenzie celebrated the...

March 2, 2009 ~ Both girls started refusing to be fed by a spoon. They would shake their heads 'no' and seal their lips closed when a spoon comes towards their mouth. Addison prefers to eat with her fingers although I discovered that she will eat my food from a spoon. Mackenzie quickly learned to feed herself with a spoon as long as I put the food ...

January 28, 2009 ~ Today finds me off from school because of a recent storm that dumped several inches of snow and then coated it with a quarter inch of ice. So I figure, what better time to update the website? I don't want to work on my report cards anyway. :) We had a great trip out west at Christmas time. Both girls were great travelers consider...

The video of Addi dancing and singing reminds me of a similar video that we have of Jessica at about the same age. You all were over at our house on Wagon Trail in CO for Thanksgiving. - Heather

Kristin, all I can say is, God knew what he was doing when he gave you the twins. No one else I know would handle all of this with as much grace, humor and organization as you do. Kudos K! Love you all!
