Make your Stick Figure Family at FreeFlashToys.com Wednesday, March 10, 2010
I was changing out of my school clothes into comfy clothes this afternoon and when I came out of the closet Addison said to me, "Cute. Cute."
Yesterday Mackenzie managed to blow her own bubbles (not spit) with a bubble wand. I cheered her own and in her excitement to do it again, she stuck the bubble wand too close to her mouth and got bubble solution in her mouth. She looked at me, whimpered and stuck out her tongue. I didn't know what to do and since she kept her tongue out, I wiped it off with my hand and that seemed to fix the problem. Whew! Another parenting test passed.

Today Mackenzie impressed me with her persistence at attempting to get a knit hat on a baby doll. I became a little less impressed a short while later while we worked together making individual salads for dinner. There were 4 bowls on the floor and we had just finished adding the spinach. I turned to put the spinach back on the counter only to turn around and find Mackenzie stepping in MY salad bowl with her bare feet. This gives a whole new meaning to sensory experiences.
Addi melted my heart today when after reading the last book before bedtime, she popped up, held out her arms and said, "snuggle?" Of course it came out as "nuggle"? The word became a little less endearing as she was screaming it as I walked out of the room but still cute nonetheless. Last night in the middle of the night Addi woke up fussing. When I went in to check on her she patted the bed beside her and said, "Mommy?" What could I do beside lay down and snuggle with my dear little one.
In memory of my dear mother, Addison and Mackenzie's sweet Nanna who passed on Saturday, February 6, 2010. She will forever be an amazing example of true motherhood and she will live on in our hearts for eternity.

The record breaking snow storms have kept us all home for days. I've been out of school since last Friday! It's been nice to all be home for some good family time. We did get to take the girls to their tumbling class today and then we had lunch out. It was so nice to be out of the house. I didn't want to come back home. It was so fun to watch the girls at tumbling. Mackenzie is very much a rule follower and follows directions really well (with the exception of taking turns on the swings). Addison prefers to watch during circle time rather than participate and if you try to help her she says "no" and pulls her hands away. Such individuals!
My girls love salad and pickles! They've learned the word "delicious" except that it comes out as "licious". So cute! Today we were making cupcakes and when I was pouring the batter into the cups Addi puts her pointer finger up and says, "Dip? Dip?"

We were eating breakfast this morning at the girls' little table. They pretty much refuse to eat at the big table and want all of their meals at their kids size table. Anyway, Addi spilled some milk on the floor and she turns to me and says, "Dog? Clean?" Ah, I've trained them so well. The girls also really enjoy giving the cat treats. Mackenzie will say, "Lucky? Treats?" except it comes out "Uh-eee? Treats?"

Here's a picture of Mackenzie kicking back relaxing inside during our record breaking snow storm.

Ian was working on putting together the twins new bed and Mackenzie was entertaining herself by blowing bubbles with her spit. Check out this humorous video clip.
So we have successfully switched from two cribs to one twin size bed with a pull out trundle. We started with one girl on each bed but it soon became apparent that they preferred to sleep together. So we don't bother pulling out the lower bed any more. The other day I thought that both girls were awake from their nap because there was some happy chatter going on. When I went in to get them up, Addi was lying right next to Mackenzie talking away and Mackenzie was out cold. It's amazing what they can sleep through!
While stuck inside during this snow storm I painted canvases with the girls names. It's only taken me almost two years to do this project. :)

We were having a snack in their snack cups this morning. Addi is looking for the raisins which she calls beans. She pulls back one section of the top and puts her eye right up to it looking for it. Then she puts her mouth up to it and yells, "Hello" into the snack cup. Another en...
December 7, 2009 ~ Chop, chop, chop
Last night Addison had a plastic hot dog from their play food set and the plastic knife and she was over on the ottoman saying, "chop, chop, chop. Chop, chop, chop." Maybe she'll be a chef some day.

April 10, 2009 ~ My spring break is rapidly coming to a close and I haven't done half of the things I was hoping to accomplish (my "to do" list is always twice as long as I can possibly do). However I have relaxed and spent some quality time with Addison and Mackenzie and my parents who are visiting from Oregon. Addison and Mackenzie celebrated the...
March 2, 2009 ~ Both girls started refusing to be fed by a spoon. They would shake their heads 'no' and seal their lips closed when a spoon comes towards their mouth. Addison prefers to eat with her fingers although I discovered that she will eat my food from a spoon. Mackenzie quickly learned to feed herself with a spoon as long as I put the food ...

The video of Addi dancing and singing reminds me of a similar video that we have of Jessica at about the same age. You all were over at our house on Wagon Trail in CO for Thanksgiving. - Heather - Kristin, all I can say is, God knew what he was doing when he gave you the twins.
