Stories October 25, 2009
Well, we are coming up on my favorite time of year! I am so excited about the Holiday season this year! Our little man is going to join us in starting new traditions for the holiday season. We were hoping to be able to go home to Michigan for Christmas, but missing two paychecks in July and August made it impossible. We are fine though... just can't do a trip.
Brody is growing by leaps and bounds, though we don't kow how big the leaps and bounds are until the end of November. Last time we checked, he was 17 lbs 2 oz, and 27 inches tall. He is SUPER tall for his age, and it shows. His clothes that fit well in the length are HUGE around, and the clothes that fit around are like capris and cropped shirts... he he he. He is doing very well with solids, well enough that we decided to try giving him a scoop of pears one day and he loved them. So when we went to the store yesterday, we bought some bananas... we'll see.
We also found two, TWO teeth on the bottom a week, or so, ago!!! WOO HOO!!! My little man is growing up, and I was itching to stop it. Well, now I have decided to embrace it, and I can't wait for the next milestone. He is just a little way from crawling!!! He can get up on all fours, he can kick his little legs, but he can't seem to do it at the same time... soon though!
We are getting his 6 month... er 7 month, pictures done on the 30th! I can't wait! Andy is going to take his picture again, I always ask since he does such beautiful work! MUCH better than JCPenney or SEARS!!! LOL
I am so excited about the next couple of months, and then we get to roll right into his birthday! I am going to have a small party, and am hoping my mom is able to come out here for it.
Well folks, I wanted to give you an update. And since I can't seem to find a whole lot of time, here I am at 5:30 am while the boys are sleeping!
Love you all, enjoy the new pictures!
August 4, 2009 Well, we have been ignoring this site a bit, and I apologize! We do have a good excuse though! We got to spend a month in Michigan! It was wonderful! We drove there and back, and Broderikk was a trooper through the whole thing! We had a wonderful time, and can't wait to go back next year! We are also going to try and save enough to go back maybe around Christmas time. Broderikk has been growing so fast, and it is hard for me to wish for him to grow more! I want him to be little forever, but at the same time, I am excited to see the child, young man and man he will become! He is a beautiful little boy, and we get TONS of compliments on how gorgeous he is! My little man... We went to the doctor today, and found out that he is 25 inches long and 15 lbs, 14 oz. He is a strapping little guy, and right on to where the doc thinks he should be. We also have started on rice cereal. He is digging it a bit, but still unsure of the spoon thing. We decided it is easiest to alternate between the bottle and spoon per feeding. It is working nicely, and in about 2 weeks, we are going to start on vegetables!!! I can't wait! We also went and got our registration papers for daycare today! I am glad I got a referral for this place from a girl I work with, and though I am glad we found someone we hope is trustworthy, my tummy is in knots at the thought of having someone else take care of him! EEK! Other than that, I will post a couple of new pictures on here, so you can see how he is doing! Much love to all! I hope you are all well!
June 17, 2009 The past 7 days have been pretty nice, and believe me we are thanking God for all of our blessings! We took Broderikk to the doctor for his well check and immunizations. They only had the Hepatitis B vaccine when we went, so Brody only had to get one shot. He cried for about 5 seconds, and by the time I stuck a bottle in his mouth, he forgot about the shot and focused on his tummy! We still had to call later last week to see if they had his remaining vaccines so we can get them into his system before we leave for Michigan. So, last monday we went to get him some of the remaining vaccines, and it was probably one of the best appointments we have ever had! We were in and out in 40 minutes, which is like record time. Brody didn't cry at all for any of his shots, and was a trooper the whole time! Our pediatrician gave us three cans of formula, saving us $42! AND there was no co-pay! WooHoo! Why cna't every visit be like that one??? Broderikk is also 23 and a quarter inches long and 14 lbs. He is pretty much spot on for his age! We also have been looking for a new refridgerator, as most of you know. The one we had, that came with our house, is as old as I am. It ruined fresh fruits and veggies and ate tons of power!!! We never used the freezer on it, and for being a side by side, it had a tiny fridge! So, Jerremey was bumming around on Craig's list, and happened to come across the fridge I have been wanting forever and we bought it for $200!!! It is a stainless steel freezerless fridge, one of those huge ones, and we will probably invest in the freezer side of it one day. But for now, we have a huge chest freezer in our kitchen, so this fridge was perfect for us! It was a killer deal! I LOVE it!! We are gearing up for our trip home in just over a week! We are driving and are pretty much taking most of what we own! LOL Thank god we bought the truck!!! We are driving home with Jerremey's mom, and taking the northern route. I love driving through the mountains and now that I have figured out the settings on my camera, I should be able to take some killer pictures! I can't wait to see all of my faithful readers! I should be able to see most of you! We will be in Michigan all month! Also, my cousin Andy took Brody's 2 month pictures!!!! They turned out GORGEOUS!!! He needs to be in business for himself! He is a gifted photographer!!! I can't wait to see more! Anyways, Love to you all!!! Wanted to make sure I updated this before I leave... May 30, 2009 Well, he is just over 8 weeks old now. I can't believe my baby has passed the 2 month mark! EEK! He is 24 inches long, and about 14 lbs. He is doing great, and is neither fat nor skinny. He is perfect! He tries to mimic the movements we make with our mouths when we talk, and LOVES to smile! He has a wonderful smile too! He lights up my heart, and Jerremey is ever the doting father! I can't wait until we can do more activity with him. I want to take him hiking and camping, and Jerremey is very eager to take him fishing! I went back to work on the 26th, and let me tell you, it was probably the most busy week I have ever had at that school! EEK! I am losing my little helper, who comes in 4 hours a day. I will miss her, we have a good time at work! But because of that, it will be a stressful year next year! I won't have much help in the office, God forbid if I actually get sick, or have to be away from work. There will be almost no one to run the office in my absence. I will cherish the moment now, and hope we win the lottery when I go home in July! LOL Nothing else really going on here, but there is tons to report from elsewhere. My cousin was born on the 28th! Ireland Jade Link! Woo Hoo! Welcome Ireland! I wish I had a picture or two, but nothing yet. Also, my cousin Jenny married Andy finally! (The guy who took the great black and white professional shots of Brody.) Congrats to them too! Brody will be getting 2 month pictures done by Andy when we take him over there on Monday. Jenny is doing us a huge favor by babysitting Monday! Then my mom will be here on Monday afternoon to take care of our little guy for a few days. I can't wait to see her! That is all for now, I can't wait to post a new portrait, and love the idea of maybe having a little model on my hands... LOVE you all!!!
May 3, 2009 Well, I can't believe our little guy is working on being 5 weeks old already! Time surely is flying, and I am dreading having to leave him when I go back to work. We also got a referral for a daycare here, and they are reasonable for babies... $125 a week, and I really trust the person I got the referral from. The daycare caters to teachers, so I feel that much better about it! It is also close to our schools! We won't have to use them until August though, so one less thing for the time being... Broderikk is growing so fast, and is well over 10 lbs. He is VERY solid though, and I know that he has grown in length, even though we haven't had that checked since he was a week old. He seems so big! We are readying ourselves for my cousin, Jenny's, wedding. We have 12 days until her big day! I am excited for her, and she found someone who not only loves her, but adores her daughter. (It is hard not to, she is a great little girl!) I am standing up in her wedding, and though I am still a hefty girl, I found a nice feminine dress to wear! I can't wait to get it! We are also preparing for the arrival of my Aunt Sheila and Uncle Paul. They are coming to town for Jenny's wedding and will be staying with us while they are here. It will be nice to have company again! My mom will also be returning on the 1st of June I think... It will be nice for her to have some more time with the baby! We are trying to get on the webcam with her as much as possible, though I am sure it isn't even a close second to time spent with her Grandson! I know it wouldn't be for me! Anyways... a small update and I also added a few pictures!!! Check them out!! Enjoy!
April 25, 2009 Well, this morning my mom lef tto go back to Michigan. It is hard to have her around for so long, and have to say good-bye. I am sure it was hard for her too, it would be hard for me to leave this wonderful little boy I have! We will miss her, but it won't be long until June, and we will see her again! I am officially a month away from having to return to work! EEK! I am really not excited about leaving Broderikk during the day! I am excited about getting back into my job, but not excited about the coming year, since it will be a tough time with all the budget cuts! I wish the governor of this fine (blah blah blah) state would get it together and make a state tax so we don't have to go through this stupid budget stuff! He isn't a good governor... Brody got his skin tag (on his ear) removed and was a champ! He only cried when they took his gown off, because he got cold! That was it! As soon as the bottle came out, he was quiet! His circumcision looks GREAT, and the bout of Impetigo on his bum is all cleared up! He had a bad tummyache last night, enough to keep us up for two hours! Today he is doing great though! He is sleeping right now, and hasn't fussed all day! Jerremey and I even went out for breakfast! Sleep deprivation does make Jerremey and I nip at each other a bit, but for the most part, things are GREAT! We try to take shifts on naps during the day, he is sleeping now... I try not to take too many naps, since the house doesn't stop getting dirty when we sleep. I still have to keep it tidy, which is more difficult now, but it still gets done! I am almost done with my Thank-You notes! I have had to write close to 100, and have 30 left!!! WooHoo!!! There was a lot to thank folks for! We were so excited to get all the gifts we got, and I WILL make sure that all of you who sent something get a proper thank you! We really appreciate your generosity!!!! It made our transition into parenthood so smooth!!! Thank you to all who have been reading this little blog, it is nice to know that you all care! Brody is still gaining weight, and is officially over 10 lbs, at 10 lbs 4 oz! We haven't checked his length in a while, but when we check it, I will update! He is a wonderful baby, and I count myself VERY blessed to have him!
April 18, 2009 So, we had a bit of a crisis on our hands. Brody got his circumcision on the 16th, at close to 7:00 pm. So, Jerremey got him home and we got hm comfortable, and at around 9:30, he went to change his diaper, and there was a lot of blood in it, and as Brody started crying, it was free flowing down the tip of his boy parts and dripping down his leg. So, Jerremey called the Dr, and they told us to take Brody to the Emergency Room. Well, as Jerremey changed the diaper, he put a huge glob of vaseline on Brody's penis. When we got to the ER, they told us that was what stopped the bleeding. They kind of commended Jerremey on thinking so fast! They kept us for 3 hours for observation, and at aout 1:30, we left and came home. Brody was a trooper, only crying there when we took anything off of him, because he gets cold pretty quick. Jerremey stayed calm the whole time, and I cried most of the time. It is great that he is so calm under pressure, because it help balance everything out! So, Broderikk is doing great now, and barely fusses when we change him! I haven't changed a diaper since we got him circumcised, I am petrified of hurting him, and since everyone else isn't making him cry when they change him I will keep my distance on that! We followed up with our doc yesterday and he told us he could remove the skin tag that is on his ear next Thursday. We have that set up, but it seems like there is always a little something that is going to make my baby boy upset!!! Grrr to doctors... lol My mom is having a blast with him, and I don't know how she is going to leave!!! Brody and his Gramma are getting attached to each other, and I know he will miss her when she has to go! I am gonna say that I think she will try to plan for retiring in February of the coming year. That is, if her union doesn't take medical benefits away for retirees! If they don't, I am sure she will retire next year. I told her I would pay her to babysit, so it would help give her some pocket money and stuff. Anyways... things are good here! Brody is eating well, and thriving! Everyone loves him, and we get a lot of comments from strangers on how gorgeous he is!! So, this is what it feels like to be a mother? I will take it!!!! WOO HOO!!!
April 15, 2009 Well, tomorrow is Broderikk's circumcision... I am dreading it!!! Everytime I think about him getting it, I cry... It is so funny that after an adoption, it is hard to even think of something making this precious little boy sad, hurt or upset. I just want everything for him to be as wonderful as he makes me feel everytime I hold him or look into his eyes. Jerremey is going to be taking Brody to his appointment, and although I want to be there I just don't think I could take it. We had our checkup appointment, and when the doc was prodding at Brody's little body it was all I could do to keep from losing it! His little cry affects me on a level that I never knew anything could. I don't know how any other parents have handled a circumcision. Brody is having his at 2 weeks old, since they no longer do them in the hospitals around here. It just feels like we are getting it done late, and I am praying that there are no problems and praying for him to have a speedy recovery. I can't stand the thought of changing his diaper and causing him pain! Anyways, that is as deep as my baby blues are running. I get sad when he is sad... which I will be greatful for! As far as everything else... he is a trooper! He sleeps, eats and cries well! We are getting some sleep, but pretty much knew that it wouldn't be easy! There is a lot of work involved in raising a child, and we are only at the tip of that iceberg! He is a great baby, and he does very well while riding in the truck! He falls asleep just like his mommy! My mom is having a wonderful time with him, and I know she will have a hard time peeling herself away from him when she has to leave on the 25th! I will be sad to see her go, although Jerremey and I have our money on her retiring when she turns 55 in February! I would be VERY willing to pay my mom for her childcare services! Anyways, just wanted to give a quick update. I probably won't be updating much for a few days after he gets his little clip and snip, we will be doing whatever we can to make sure he is as comfortable as possible!!! Much love to all!!!
April 8, 2009 Well, we have had a FANTASTIC week! I had my scheduled c-section on Thursday, and Broderikk Lynn Carr entered the world at 6:34pm on April 2, 2009! My surgery was a success, and in spite of a little nausea, I fell asleep when they were stitching me up! It is amazing how comfortable being numb is! Jerremey was by my side through most of the surgery, leaving when they started stitching me up, so he could watch them run tests on the baby. He was born weighing less than doc originally thought, 8 lbs, 8 oz. He is 20 inches long, and had a few remarkable details on his body. First, he has a 'mushroom' shaped skin tag on his ear, which we will probably get removed. Second, he has a small (dime sized) patch of white hair on the side of his head. He is so gorgeous!!! We were discharged from the hospital on Saturday, and got home at around 5:30pm. Since we got home, things have been painful for me. Although, I would definitely take a c-section over labor again! Other than a little residual bleeding, things are almost normal there. My incision site is still sore, but looks great! Jerremey has proven his love for me over the past several days. He has had to pretty much do everything for me, and the baby. It kinda gave me the baby blues for a few days, but I realized that the baby is well taken care of, and Jerremey is constantly reassuring me that he doesn't mind taking care of me. :o) The baby has a wellness checkup tomorrow, and we will be scheduling a circumcision too. I want to get that done, since he really hates having his diaper changed anyways. I just couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby, and am excited to watch him grow up... though not to anticipatory... lol Thank you to everyone who sent gifts, well wishes and prayers!!! We appreaciate everyones' help that we have had since he was born, and can't wait until the rest of you get to meet him!!! We love you all!!!! April 1, 2009 Well, we went and got an ultrasound this morning and we do have a pretty good sized baby on our hands!!! Their ultrasound estimate of his weight was 8 lbs 11 oz. (which can be plus or minus 2 lbs!) So, the doctor determined it would be safer for me and the baby to take him via c-section tomorrow afternoon!!!! Jerremey and I are beside ourselves with excitement and anticipation! We are also a little panicky just because we now only have one more day to get everything ready! It feels like we are never gonna get there! Right now, I am gonna take a nap, since I am sure we have a long night ahead of us!!! Much love to you all, and we will start calling everyone after we have the baby tomorrow!
March 25, 2009 Well, yesterday we went to the doctor and I wasn't dilated much further, but he is growing concerned that we have a good sized baby on our hands... EEK! So, we have our ultrasound scheduled on the 1st of April, and that will be the deciding factor on how we are going to have this baby! If he is too big, the doctor will be doing a C-section. If he is still a manageable size, we will be doing a normal vaginal birth. PRAY that we do the least painful thing! :o) So, when he did my vaginal exam, I was still only dilated 1-2 cm, and he stripped my membranes. Well, I was fine until we pulled in at home, then the pressure began!!! There was a lot of pressure, like the baby all of the sudden dropped! It was worse overnight and when I woke up this morning, I was having a hard time getting out of bed, so I called in at work. I hate doing that, and want to have as much paid time as possible before the baby arrives. It is nice to have the rest at home, but hard on people I work with! I am hoping that tomorrow will be easier! I am trying to keep my feet up at work too, which is hard, and they stay pretty swollen most of the time. But, less than 2 weeks left anyways! Today we got our furniture!!! It is gorgeous! I can't wait til everyone sees it! I took a few pics, and posted a couple of them here. I can't wait to use everything, and am really wanting to go organize my stuff into the combo unit, but I am gonna have to go to bed soon, especially if I want to function tomorrow... Anyways, gorgeous furniture, and we couldn't have gotten any of it without help from our wonderful families! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! I am gonna go get some sleep and get my feet up, so I can go to work tomorrow! Much love to everyone! March 22, 2009 WOW! I had my second baby shower yesterday! It was a web shower, held in Michigan and broadcast for me to see! It was gorgeous, and even being such an interesting idea was something I was able to fully participate in! There were all of my mom's friends and almost all of my Michigan family! I missed seeing my cousin Hannah there, but people are busy... but the Ya-Ya's put it on, and it couldn't have been more perfect. One of the best moments was my mom saying a prayer over the meal and the shower. There wasn't a dry eye in the room! My mom got to open the gifts, and we are pretty sure we won't have to buy any baby clothes!!! WOW! There was a lot of clothes! We got all sorts of gifts though, and we are very excited and appreciative to receive them! I have to tell you all how fast the time has been flying! I have been getting that 'nesting' urge, and it is hard when we can't afford to buy EVERYTHING to make sure we are ready! We are splurging here and there and getting a few things that we will need... For the most part though, we have all of the big things we will need to bring this baby boy home! We have a hair over 2 weeks left til we get to hold this bundle of joy in our hands, and I couldn't tell you who is more excited about it! EVERYONE seems to be chomping at the bit and anticipating the moment when they will be able to take their turn holding him! Jerremey is going through a bit of 'nesting' himself, and is trying to tackle all the last minute projects he can before we can't do anymore! We are going to try and get some shelving up in Brody's room so we have somewhere to put his stuffed dragons and the cute keepsakes that were gifted to us! Don't worry mom, we will probably (most likely) paint the shelves white! :o) Anyways, I had to share about the baby shower, and as soon as I can get my mom to send along the rest of the pictures, I will post a few on here! Much love to all!!! 2 more weeks!!!
March 18, 2009 Well, we went to the doctor last night and if this is the only complication I will receive during this pregnancy, I will be greatful! I did test positive for Group B Strep. What happens now, is nothing... sounds like a pretty mild complication, right? Wrong... well, not completely. If untreated during delivery, the baby can develop bacterial Meningitis. So, all that has to be done is my doctor (and me when I go in) letting my hospital know that I tested positive for group B Strep and they will give me an antibiotic through IV to get rid of it so the baby can come out safely during natural birth. So, not all bad, and not all great... I weighed in with a total of a 20 lbs weight gain yesterday, BUT that ALWAYS goes down during the night. This moring I was clocking in with a 15 lb weight gain. I drink close to 7 lbs of water a day, so I do factor that in to my gain. He is HUGE though! I am having (what I hope will be) my last ultrasound on the 1st of April. We will be checking how big he is, and making sure of his position. This ultrasound will determine how he will be born! :o) I also have my next weekly appointment on the 24th... I called in sick today. I think it is a combination of allergies and a pretty mild head cold, but when you can't take anything but Zyrtec, a vaporizer and some soup... makes it hard to work. I hate having to call in so close to going on leave though... We got our webcam hooked up so we can take part in our baby shower on Saturday! I have tested the quality and it sucks, but I think that was the miserable looking face staring back at me while testing it... maybe tomorrow... I'll probably be updating on things a bit more often now... OOOH!!! We also found out that I am dilated a good centimeter!!! WooHoo! Could be any day now, but I could also be dilated to a centimeter for weeks!!! We shall see! Only 20 more days! P.S. I can't fit behind the steering wheel of the truck and reach the pedals anymore, so Jerremey has to make sure he goes to the rest of my appointments with me. Poo on not being able to drive!
March 17, 2009 Well, I took a new picture of myself yesterday, and WOW!!! Man does he stick out! I have been trying to keep up with new belly shots more often, but at this stage in the pregnancy it gets difficult to keep up with that stuff. Less than 3 weeks left though, and a good thing too! It is getting hard to try and put on socks and stuff! Jerremey and I are celebrating 9 years of being together today! We met on St. Patrick's Day back in 2000, and have been together ever since! It is amazing to see how our relationship has evolved in the past 9 years, and how we continue to grow as a couple. It will be interesting to see how we are as parents! I am so excited about the future with our son! Anywho, we also bought and installed our carseat! It makes it so real to put the carseat base in the truck! It was like, okay, we really are ready! Aside from that, most everything else is ready, and we are just anticipating his arrival! Everyone have a great St. Patty's day, and I will post after my Dr. appointment! Much love to all! March 13, 2009 Yesterday, VERY much to my surprise, my co-workers threw me a baby shower!!! Almost 100 people packed into the teacher's lounge at my school!!! I couldn't believe it, and can't believe that many people could keep such a wonderful thing a secret from me! Even Jerremey knew about it! So, it took me over an hour to open everything!!! It was awesome! All the wonderful baby clothes, toiletries, diapers, gadgets, and toys!!! Even the thoughtful keepsakes that I cannot wait to put to use!!! I was so moved by the thought that they would all do this that all I could do when I walked in and saw them all was cry! A LOT! I keep telling everyone that I don't need gifts for a congratulations, but no one ever listens! LOL.. I don't know how many of my co-workers actually read this web page, but to those of you who do, words cannot express how I feel right now! I am happy, and excited, and moved by your thoughfulness! So, that is my first baby shower!!! And it was an awesome one!!! Everyone enjoy the couple of pictures of the huge amounts of generosity I was thankful to receive!!!! I will post new belly pictures very soon! He is huge and moving around constantly! We are a go for the 7th, but doctor said he is willing to letnature try to take it's course until the 10th, then he will induce if the baby decides he likes my belly better than the outside world! Heartbeat was strong and we are now on weekly visits! WOO HOO!!! We are getting SO close!!! Bye all, gotta go eat some breakfast!!!!
February 18, 2009 Well, I went and got my ultrasound done. This was the 33 weeks 'make sure things are progressing well' ultrasound. He is a chubby little guy, and oh so cute! I got two shots of his face, and am including on on the pictures page. My ultrasound tech said he weighs about 4 lbs and 12 ounces. He is measuring pretty close to right on, but for some reason the progression they have said I am a week behind??? My measurements are for 33 weeks, so we shall see. He looks great though, my fluid levels look great and my placents is looking good too! So, things are going well. Jerremey and I have the 3-D ultrasound next week, but the tech said if he doesn't shift a little bit, we may only get to see the side of his face. We will see, one more week, so shift over little guy!!!
February 16, 2009 Well, we are 7 weeks away. I must admit I am getting nervous about not having everything ready by the time the baby comes... We did get the chandelier for the baby's room (thanks mommy!!), and are going to hang it today. We are also doing a hospital tour today, and I am getting my nails filled for the second to last time. I am going to get them removed on my last March appointment. Good-bye old friends... :o( BUT, I will be better able to scrape little buggies out of tiny nostrils with real nails. The little acrobat is rolling around in there right now, and it really feels like he is running out of room. I feel almost non-stop movement of some sort, unless I ask someone to feel my belly, then all of the sudden he stops! The little monkey, it is like he wants to save the best moves for me and Jerremey... Jerremey and his dad, finally having a day off together, are finishing up the bassinet. They are making me a round bassinet out of Cedar. I can't wait to get it in the bedroom here! It is like one of the little reality checks that the baby is almost here! Baby stuff is trickling in from friends and family, and I have a baby shower planned for the 28th of March. We are doing a web shower, and my mom's friends (who we call the 'Ya-Ya's') are putting it on for me! We have to do the web shower, because I can't travel to Michigan, and there are too many people to try and have come here! (plane tickets add up!) So, they have a designated pregnant woman, my mom's friend Tanya! I cannot wait to see what they do for this! The Ya-Ya's came to my bridal shower, which was a brunch at a gorgeous bed and breakfast, dressed for tea in the 1800's! They were a sight to behold, and they were complete with southern belle accents! So, other than all of that, I will probably post again today to let everyone know how our hospital tour went! I also have to call the two pediatrician choices we have, and see who is taking patients... Anywho, much love to all!!!! January 19, 2009 Wow, a new year already?!?! And we are almost a month into it! EEK! So, here we are at week 29, and I thought now would be a good time to pay for this site so I can get the extra goodies! So, I started the purchase out right with a rock page for Jerremey! Which he is thrilled with! Being at week 29 brings all sorts of new fun stuff for me! I started feeling my first Braxton Hicks contractions. Only a few on Friday and by no means were they regular. Thank God! They didn't really hurt, they were really just annoying. The feeling was REALLY low! We also got to buy my chair, with the help of a very special Aunt who thinks that this baby looks like her! :o) THANK YOU! I can't wait until it gets here! We also got to get the curtains for the baby's room and will be putting them up today. Okay, they are black, but we wanted blackout curtains that would shield the most light, since this IS Vegas, and the sun can be brutal in May and June! (not to mention HOT) But we are not going to forget to buy tie-backs so our little guy can have some light sometimes. So the nursery is well underway... I have been having a horrible time getting sleep. My hips decided to be my worst enemy and are making it hard to stay asleep and hard to roll over. So, we are trying 'gimmick' pillows. I bought a wedge, and although it stopped the morning nausea from laying too much on my tummy, it also makes me lay straight on my hips... eek! So, on to the next gimmick! Maybe I will try one of those long curly maternity pillows... The baby is CONSTANTLY moving now! I feel little kicks, and really big kicks. I feel his hiccups and rolls and sometimes it feels as though my devious little guy wants my bladder to fall out! My doctor told me I don't have to worry about kick counts, since he is moving all the time. I also do not have gestational diabetes! My blood sugar counts were normal. Although it could be attributed to not eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey every 2 days! I am starting to pick up things for my hospital bag, and am going to schedule a pedicure the middle of March! Everyone should have my nail lady! She is fabulous! I can't wait until my mom gets out here so I can buy her a pedicure!!! I am sad that I may have to get rid of my acrylic nails, but I don't want anything that is put on my fingers to make the baby sick. I will probably have her remove them, and continue with just getting a manicure every month. Oh well, baby FIRST!!! :o) So, that is all for now! We are good, and baby is doing great! We are choosing to deliver at Valley Hospital here, and will let you know more details as details come! We love you all, and are so greatful for all of your support and love!!!
December 23, 2008 Well, funny how fast time is flying! Crazy that Christmas is in 2 days. Although I have known I was pregnant since week 3 so that is creeping by! It is amazing to think that in 3 short months, I will have this gorgeous little boy in my arms! I still cannot picture myself as a parent, though the thought is ever present! I am still flabbergasted that this is the last Christmas I am spending with just me and Jerremey... Next Christmas will be neat to be able to go toy shopping and pretend there is a santa... Start the traditions young... Though the real story behind Christmas will be a forefront to the holiday, rather than the fiction of the season... Anyways, enough rambling! I have to also mention that I am so excited! We are receiving baby stuff already!!! It actually helps make this whole pregnancy seem real!!! I hope everyone out there enjoys their Holiday Season! Safe driving to wherever you go! December 18, 2008 SNOW!!!! WOW!!! So, Clark County School District had a snow day today!!! Although I had to report to work still. It felt like they were saying We care about the safety of our students and teachers, but forget the support staff!!! EEK! Anyways, in spite of all of that, I snapped some really cool pictures of the snow! I will post them on here, so everyone can share. The baby has the hiccups more than once per day, so I am feeling lots of movement. This morning, however, Jerremey got to feel the movement too! He was excited as he got to feel the "kicks" form the hiccups! I can't wait until he can see the belly move when the baby does! I have my last 4 week appointment with my doctor in January, then we are going to be on bi-weekly visits! We are getting there! It seems like this pregnancy has lasted forever, since we found out when I was only 3 weeks along! I can't wait to meet this new little boy, and introduce him to all of you! We are coming in July! (assuming the baby will be in good health, and can travel) I can't wait for everyone to see him! FYI, we have a few names in mind, but we are keeping a lid on them until he is born! I want it to be a surprise for all of you!!!
