July 26: Whoa! It's almost the end of July and I've been a total slacker this summer updating this site. A lot has been happening and I really should have been writing most of it down as the pregnancy brain has hit and I don't remember a lot of really cute things...I'll try my best!

 

We can start with the easy part - which is progress on Baby #2! I'm now in the 3rd trimester (thank goodness it's almost over!!!). I've been feeling good, with most of the same issues as with Keller at this point - heartburn, can't get comfy to sleep, generally feeling like a giant version of my former self, etc etc. I think it was a little easier last time as it was far more comfortable to be pregnant July - April than Jan - Oct, at least from a weather point of view. It has been sweltering outside (95+ most days)! I wish it were socially acceptable to simply walk around in a bikini at 7 months preggo - but I'm pretty sure no one wants to see that :). Keller has even chimed in, stating "too hot" on some days, which I am grateful for!! I feel bad if we stay too cooped up though, so we try to hit the park by 7:30am so we can be back before it hits 90 at around 11. I never thought I'd be at a park by 8am, but it sure is nice at that hour.

 

We have been frequenting the splash park, pool, zoo, Farm, and regular park quite a bit lately. Keller loooooves to get outside and play and who can blame him? The sun is always shining here (even though it is toasty) and there is so much fun stuff to do with the little people. We are so excited as we finally bought a swingset for the backyard!! We are awaiting approval from our HOA to put it up, but are hoping that comes quickly and we can get to work setting it up before summer is over. He is quite a climber and very brave - but has a thing about slides. He insists I go with him down the slides. This is getting far more difficult as I begin to run out of space on my lap :). We're working on independence in that area! He is just the sweetest boy and we're so blessed with that. I was truly worried last year as I thought this stage would be so terrible (and he was a bit of a monster around the 15-18 mo mark), but Keller has been nothing but adorable and such a good little boy. He doesn't seem to be a biter or hitter or shover and is doing really well with sharing. We're so proud of him!! He really enjoys playing with other kids, so I'm trying to be more social for his sake!

 

In other big news, Keller decided that using the potty was a great idea, so we also spent one weekend totally naked and essentially he was potty-trained...until the following Monday when he announced he wanted his diaper back. Ha! So, now he goes sometimes in the potty and we're just waiting for him to give the ok to try again...We feel it will be soon, but we aren't pressuring him. He is still in his crib, with no signs of wanting out so we plan on leaving him in there for the immediate future. I can't think of anything else, but we are having a blast hanging out with our little man and are anxiously awaiting October. I did ask Keller if he thought mommy was having a boy or girl and he immediately, with no hesitation said "boy." I then asked him a few days later and he immediately said "girl." Ha! it will be so fun to find out in just a couple months!
