I've kinda given up on Kiera's blog, especially since I can have them both on this site.  It's still available, but I may be leaving it alone, who knows?!?  Anyway, if you want to check out some of Kiera's past check-ups or look at some pictures that I might not have uploaded, her blog can be found here.

Erin had her 2 year wellness visit a couple of weeks ago.  She measured 35 3/4 inches tall.  We did the math, and that means she should be around 5'11" when she's full grown!  Erin's gonna be a tall drink of water.  She weighed 33 lbs and doing great!!

Erin had her 18 month wellness visit back in Sept.  She's almost 34 1/2 inches tall!  And weighs 27 pounds.  She's a big girl!

Erin's doing really well and growing like a weed.  She barely fits in her 18 month clothes now.  She's definitely in the 24 month stuff even though her mommy bought her some 3T clothes.  The 3T is way big on her, but she'll grow into it.

3/15/2006 - I had my wellness visit today. I got my MMR shots (not fun at all). I'm 31 inches tall now. That puts me in the 93rd percentile. My head measured 18.8 inches which puts me in the 96th percentile. I only weighed 22.2 pounds. That puts me down in the 66th percentile. The doctor was a little concerned about that, but since I've been sick, he didn't say too much more.

The doctor rechecked my ears too. They're getting better! One was almost completely healed and the other was down to a 5. Yay! I can't wait 'til I'm all better! I hope that's soon.

3/13/2006 - I started feeling really grumpy Sunday afternoon.  So much so that I just couldn't really be consoled.  That night, I didn't sleep well at all.  Mommy and Daddy were up with me almost all night.  Even Pap-pap came in to sit with me a bit.

Mommy called the doctor in the morning and took me in.  Turns out, I had a double ear infection.  Yuck.  It was a really bad one too.  On a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 9 in my left ear and an 8 in my right.  No wonder I kept screaming!  The doctor gave me medicine to make it all better.

3/11/2006 - I'm one! I'm one! I can't believe I'm a whole year old already! I had a really fun party. Lots of family and friends showed up to wish me a very happy birthday. I got lots of really fun toys and really pretty clothes. I also got my very own birthday cake. It was very good. I think I wore it well.

2/4/2006 - Well, I'm finally getting over my ear infection.  I took the last of my antibiotics on Friday.  I didn't like them.  They really tore things up inside for me.  Yuck.

On the bright side, I've been walking!  Since before Christmas, I'd walk holding onto things.  Over the past few weeks, I started walking on my own!  Not holding on at all!  It's real fun!

12/12/2005 - Erin had her 9 month well visit today.  Overall, it went ok.  She did not like the finger prick she got.  She was ok with the pricking part, but once the nurse kept holding onto her finger and squeezing for blood, she was not a happy little girl.  She really hated her shot.  This time, it was just the one and I tried to distract her, but it didn't help.  She just cried and cried.  Actually, it was more like screaming.  Poor thing, as if cutting 4 teeth at once wasn't hard enough.  That's right, she's cutting all top four teeth at once.  She seems to be managing it well enough.

Anyway, here are some of her stats from her visit:

Height - 30 inches (Oh yeah, she's a tall one).  She's in the 98th percentile.
Weight - 22.4 lbs.  She's in the 94th percentile.
Head - 18 inches - 87th percentile.

She is getting to be such a big girl.  No wonder she's in 18 month clothes at 9 months.  And it's no surprise that Mommy's developed carpal tunnel either! :)

11/24/2005 - Happy Thanksgiving!!  She's been a busy little girl.  Lately, she's been getting better at crawling up on all fours.  She still won't set any land speed records, but she's getting around just fine.  She's also been sitting up better on her own.  I find her almost every morning sitting up in her crib.  Sometimes after naps too.  Today, she's been pulling herself up to standing on the sofa and ottoman.  It almost seems like any day now, she'll figure out how to balance and walk!  Oh boy!

11/9/2005 - It's been quite a long time since I added a story here.  Well, Erin had her second flu shot yesterday and didn't even cry.  I think it really helped that I completely blocked her from even seeing the needle.  I think that part scares her more than hurts her.

Erin will be 8 months on Friday and she's getting so big.  She probably weighs about 22 lbs and is probably about 28-29 inches tall.  I'm only guessing here, but I think I'm pretty close.  Next month, she'll have her 9 month appt and we'll find out for sure.

She hasn't really been crawling.  Some commando crawling occasionally, usually after the dogs.  She mostly rolls to get to where she wants to go.  She has been pulling herself up to standing though.  She's even been taking some steps.  This afternoon, she actually walked (with mommy holding her hands) a few steps.  Now, if she could just get her balance down.

7/12/2005 - Erin is now 4 months old as of yesterday! She had her 4 mo. well baby visit and she was so good. Let's see, her stats from her visit: She's 16 pounds (yup, a big girl! No wonder my back hurts!) and is 25.5 inches long (what a tall girl!). Her head is 16.5 inches round. That puts her in the 90th percentile on weight, 86th on height and 70th on head size.

She wasn't happy about the shots though. I can't blame her. They're no fun. But she recovered from them a lot faster this time. She slept a full 11 hours last night. Yay!!

Today, we're starting cereal. Oh boy, this should be interesting!

5/12/2005 - Erin had her 2 month appt yesterday and got her immunizations. Oh boy has that been fun. She was pretty cranky yesterday and so was mommy. We've also been pretty cranky this morning too. Hopefully, our sleeping and eatings patterns will get back on track by tomorrow.

Anyway, here are her latest stats:

24.3 inches long (boy she's a tall one!) which puts her in the 95th percentile.

12.1 lbs - this puts her in the 79th percentile.

And her head is 15 inches around. This puts her only in the 30th percentile, but she doesn't look small to me.

4/24/2005 - So, I'm finally, finally getting around to writing out her birth story. It's a long one and I hope I remember everything. I'm just happy though that I'm finally writing it down. Now if I could only work on that memory book of hers...

So I'll rewind a bit to the morning of the 10th. I'm at the doctor's, having the NST (non-stress test) done. Erin’s doing wonderfully, but I start feeling sick so they think that my body might actually be trying to go into labor all on its own. Good thing, right?!? The NP tells me that she's going to call the hospital to have my name put on the list for a delivery room that evening. They want me to go in that night for the cervidil, to soften my cervix so Friday morning they can induce me. She tells me to have a really nice lunch, since I probably won't be getting anything more to eat that day. Also, if I don't hear from the hospital by 3pm, I should give them a call and ask about a room.

Patrick decides to go ahead and take the day off since we have no idea when the hospital will call us. I'm really glad he did take the day off. We go home and around lunch time, we order pizza. Yeah, maybe not the best lunch in the world, but it came to us and it was really good. I basically spent the day just hanging out, waiting around. Of course, the hospital didn't call. So at 3:15pm I called them. They said that they didn't have my name on the induction list, but took my name anyway. They told me that if I didn't hear from them by 7pm to call them back around 9:30pm. Ok, that didn't make any sense to me, but whatever. If I didn't hear anything, I was going to call them back at 7:15 anyway.

I was feeling kind of tired, so I decided a little nap on the couch was in order. I woke up at 4:15pm and realized that I had to go to the bathroom. I get up from the sofa and all of a sudden fluid just starts leaking out. I start waddling knock-kneed to the bathroom. My dad asks me if I peed myself. I told him that I didn't know, but I think my water just broke. I get to the bathroom and when I sit down, the leaking stops. Ok, I start thinking maybe I did pee myself. However, when I stood back up, it started again. This happens each time. Ok, now I'm thinking it probably did break. I start to go upstairs where I actually have pads to catch the leaking as opposed to my clothes. As I'm going upstairs, my mom asks me if my water broke. I said I didn’t know, but that's what I'm trying to figure out. Unfortunately, Patrick's in the basement, checking his email and what not. So I can't really tell him what's going on. When he gets upstairs, he upstairs for a few minutes before my parents tell him that I think my water might have broken. He comes up and I fill him in on what's been going on. I get him to get the phone and the phone number of the OB office so I can call in. By now, it's about 4:30-4:40pm. I call and describe what's been happening and the phone nurse tells me to go ahead to the hospital. That it sounds like my water did break. One way or another, I was definitely going to the hospital on Thursday. I guess my body just wanted to help things along.

Before leaving, I took a quick shower while Patrick loaded up the truck. He even put down a garbage bag topped with towels on the passenger seat. Just in case. We left for the hospital around 5pm. Yes, its rush hour and traffic was not pretty. About 5:15, I started having real contractions, not Braxton-Hicks. Good, I thought. My body is finally working like it's supposed to. They were about 10 minutes apart the whole way to the hospital. An hour later, we get there. Since I'm having trouble walking, we grab a wheelchair and sit in that while Patrick checks me in. After awhile, we get an L&D room and get settled in. The midwife comes in to check me. Yep, water's broke and my cervix is not dilated. Ok, so my body doesn't really work. We go ahead with the cervidil, but it's going to take awhile to have it ordered, so we just have to sit tight. It keeps getting later and later and we're getting hungry. I ask the hospital nurse if it's ok to eat. The midwife wanted me to wait until after the cervidil to see how I would react to it. Well, by now, it's 8:30pm and I'm starving. Apparently, the midwife was busy in a 3 hour delivery of another patient, but the hospital nurse was kind enough to go ask her if I could eat something. She said it would be fine and that will just do the cervidil afterwards. By this time though, I had already sent Patrick to get something to eat for himself. So I called him up and asked him to get something for me too. It wasn't until 10pm or so that I got the cervidil. Then they gave me an Ambien and told me to go ahead and get some sleep. The induction would start sometime in the morning. And if my contractions wouldn't let me sleep, to buzz them and they would give me something else. Well, my contractions weren't letting me sleep one bit. They weren't really painful, just annoying. So I got some more drugs.

The next morning, the nurse comes in to prep me for the induction. I get my enema (oh what fun!), get a shower, brush my teeth and change gowns. This is around 7am. I wait around until 8am before they come in with the Picotin. They first check my cervix to see how things are going. Apparently, it's nice and soft now. Then I get hooked up. Almost right away, the contractions really start up. On the monitor, they were almost off the chart. They were coming every 2 minutes or so and were lasting about 60-90 seconds. Not much of a break in between. At 9:30am I finally had had enough. I broke down and asked for an epidural. I felt like a wimp for doing so, but they were killing me. Anyway, they told me that they couldn't give me an epidural so early because I was in for a long road that day. But, they said they could give me some morphine to take the edge off. Fine. Drug me up. I got the morphine about 10am and all it did was make me sleepy. Sleepy with really super painful contractions. No edge taken off there. Even when the midwife would check me, I screamed. Literally screamed in pain. It felt like she stuck both fists in there to check my cervix. It was awful. Patrick wanted to deck her for hurting me like that. They finally broke down after that and ordered the epidural. 12:30pm it came. Time for the good stuff that wouldn't let me feel anymore of this. Things were much better after I got the epidural. I couldn't really feel my legs, but I couldn't feel those nasty contractions either. After that, I slept. They came back to check me periodically and around 4 or 5pm, I was 4cm dilated. They said after hitting the 4cm mark, things should go a lot faster. It was around 8:30- 9pm that I hit 7cm. Things were really progressing nicely. And baby girl was doing just fine. They were going to come back in at 10:30 to see how far along I was and determine what to do next. So, we called my parents to let them know what was going on. Well, it was about 10pm when the nurses came back in. They didn't like some of the things they saw. The biggest thing was that after every contraction (and these were hard contractions), her heart rate would drop. It didn't going below the critical line, but it went right down to it. It had been doing this a little while and it made them nervous. Also, when she checked me then, Erin's head was crooked. She wasn't coming down straight like she should. They just wanted to get her out of there. I was completely fine with that. After being there for 30 hours, I just wanted my baby out. I didn't care how. So, in a whirlwind, people started coming in to take blood, give me the surgical grade epidural and just prep everything for the c-section. Luckily for us, my parents came early and they held all our stuff while I was in surgery. And at 10:51pm, they delivered Erin Lily. The cord happened to be wrapped around her neck too, so I'm glad that she was taken out quickly. And the rest is, well, history.

1/24/2005 - So I'm returning the baby beat doppler. I really don't need it anymore since I feel her move constantly. But I had to get some last recordings from it. Here's one that I recorded tonight, 35wks 1day.

11/27/2004 - While we were visiting, my mother-in-law threw a baby shower for me. It was great. I got to see so many people I haven't seen in a while. And they were so generous too! We got so many wonderful things for Erin. The baby girl clothes are just so precious. And we got a good bit of classic pooh too! There are still quite a few things we need to get, but the shower helped us out tremendously. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

11/10/2004 - I've been starting to feel her move more and more, but last night when I was trying to fall asleep, she gave me a really hard kick. My whole body kinda shook, like when you hit a nerve funny and it causes a huge muscle spasm. Like that. She kept kicking and moving around while I'm trying to fall asleep for a little while.

Oh and earlier in the evening, when I was letting the dogs out, I was feeling my belly (which I'm so prone to do, like all the time) and I felt these little tiny ridges on the one side. It was in a really small section of my belly too. I felt it a couple of times, but I couldn't see anything. I think what I felt was her little toes, but I'm not sure. It's gone now and was gone when I went to bed so it's possible. How cool is that?!? I was watching my belly last night to see if it moved at all. I haven't seen that yet, but I can't wait until I do. Despite the aches, pains and inability to go to the bathroom, I'm loving this pregnancy stuff.
