Per the request of one excited Auntie Emily in Philadelphia, this website was created to keep friends and family posted on the progress of Baby DeClue.

We hope you enjoy!

Love to all,

Mel & Lance

October 5th:  Eight weeks into the pregnancy, Baby DeClue is now the size of a kidney bean!  Despite his/her tiny size, there is already a heart beat (which we haven't heard yet).  It is amazing how much an embryo has developed already at this point.  Babycenter.com is a great website that tracks weekly growth, if you want to check it out.  Next week, Baby DeClue will be considered a fetus!

November 16th:  Today is a small milestone in the pregnancy....the beginning of the second trimester!  Baby DeClue is now the size of a lemon, and he/she is pretty much fully formed.  In the last story I submitted, I said the morning sickness was at the end, but I guess I was just kidding!  I should have knocked on wood!  My friend who is 10 weeks ahead of me said that one day I will just wake up and not be sick anymore.  I can't wait for that to happen.  At least it all has a good cause!

December 28th:  IT'S A BOY!!!  Go to the Stories page to read all the details...

February 15th:  Today is the first day of the 3rd trimester!  It's hard to believe we are getting so close.  We are doing just fine, although can you believe I am getting sick again?  Don't know if it's just a cold or another sinus infection...we'll see.  Also, Friday I threw my back out at work by sneezing while I was bent over!  I was hoping not to have to go to the Dr. but I can't walk without a lot of pain.  Anyway, for better news, Lance and I are going to IL this weekend to pick up a crib.  He has a friend who is giving us their crib and glider/ottoman.  I haven't seen it yet, although Lance did bring a piece of the crib home last weekend and it is cherry wood like we wanted!  How perfect!

GAVIN IS FINALLY HERE!  I KNOW I HAVEN'T UPDATED THE SITE IN A LONG TIME...CHECK OUT THE STORIES PAGE FOR THE BIRTH STORY.

GAVIN IS ONE YEAR OLD!

July 25th:  Gavin had his 2 month check up today.  He is getting so big!  He weighs 12 lbs. 1 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches long.  He is in the 60th percentile of weight, but the 100th for length!  I can't believe he grew 2 inches in a month.  He had to get 4 shots and an oral vaccine, which he wasn't too happy about.  He only fussed for a coup

July 6th:  It's hard to believe, but Gavin is already 6 weeks old!  I returned to work yesterday, which wasn't too bad.  Daddy stayed home with Gavin yesterday, and Grandpa Doug is staying home with him today.  He starts daycare next Monday.  I know it will be hard for us to leave him there!  Gavin has changed a lot since he has been born

THE STORY OF MY BIRTH (by Gavin):  On Wednesday May 23rd, my mommy and daddy went to the hospital to get induced because I was almost a week overdue.  Mommy got started on pitocin at 10:00 am and didn't have contractions until around 1:00 pm.  Both sets of grandparents and great-grandma Fran were at the hospital too.  Mommy had decided not

March 2nd:  Well, a lot has been going on since the last update.  We had a routine Dr.'s appointment on 2/22 and everything is going just fine.  Dr. Bale was a little concerned that I still didn't feel much movement at 28 weeks, so we were scheduled for a test called a Biophysical Profile which we had done today.  They hooked my belly up

February 1st:  We had our second ultrasound done today.  Little Gavin is doing just fine.  (Well, maybe I shouldn't say "little."  Apparently he is still in the 93rd percentile of size for his age.  He's 1 lb. 13 oz.  Almost 2 lbs.!).  He was moving around a little bit, but I didn't feel a thing.  He even had the hiccups!  Th

January 26th:  Yesterday marked week 24.  We had an appointment with Dr. Bale and all is well.  We are scheduled for another ultrasound on 2/1 to check for fetal activity.  Apparently, this little guy is really lazy!  I first started feeling slight "thumping" about 5 weeks ago, but have not felt a lot of movement.  Since the ba
