I've cancelled our babyhomepages subscription. I've maintained it for a lot of years and it's been fun. But money is tight and this'll be an easy way to save. If you'd like to get a myspace you can still see updated pictures of the girls. In fact, you don't even have to sign up for myspace to see some of them. Just click on the following link.  I'll put updates on my site: www.myspace.com/abigail_king

Love you and miss you Montana Family.

We're moving this weekend!  Happy Thanksgiving all.

8-7-08

Jeff and Gracie will be leaving here to head to Montana August 12th. He hasn't made concrete plans on where he's going first. I go back to work the 11th and then Chelsea starts school, so we won't be going. I'm hoping Jeff and Gracie have a great time with their Montana family!

Well, nobody could ever accuse us of having not kept ourselves busy this summer! It's been the best of my life. I guess when you're given lemons you've just gotta make lemonade! So here's what we've done: Lake, camping, jumping off 2 different sets of waterfalls, 4th of July party, many other parties/barbecue's, my cousin Tony and family here for 2 weeks, rafting down the sacramento river twice and another trip planned next weekend, Six flags discovery kingdom, and of course the famous houseboat trip weekend. We have been loving every minute of it. That's all the update I've got, just lots of fun, fun, fun! I'm pretty sure this next year will be 1000 times better than the one we've just had. With Jeff not being out of town we've reconnected as a family and we're stronger than ever. Cheers to unexpected change!

Dear Chelsea,

You know what the problem is with being so close to perfect? Feeling like you have to live up to your mother thinking that! =) From the time you were born I've always seen you with a halo over your head and I probably always will. You are going to be one hell of a woman...you are so smart, kind, beautiful, mature and wise. With time and so called "mistakes" you will become even more wise. I want you to know that your choices are yours and they will never change the way I feel about you. My love for you will always be unconditional. In just 3 short years you will be graduating from high school  and you will head into adulthood. That's absolutely unfathomable to me. It feels like I held you in my arms yesterday. You said the other day that even the best moms don't know their teenagers as well as their friends do...some day you will know that's not true. You're right that mothers of teenagers only know what their kids tell them, but what happens has very little to do with who a person is.

Good mothers love their children before they are born. They hold them and look into their babies eyes and tears fall as love overwhelms them. They watch them toddle to them for the first time and swell with pride. They see them off to their first day of kindergarten with blurred vision, because they know that the beginning of independence has began for their child. They attend school plays, conferences and field trips. They spend countless hours volunteering in their childs class just to be close to them. They stand by speechless and in awe when their child graduates 8th grade. They still feel fear and worry and pride when they take them to their first day of high school...I'm not sure that those feelings ever go away. Baby girl, good mothers know their children better than anyone else. They know their heart and spirit and their intentions. It's just so hard to get rid of that whisper inside that says, "don't grow up...don't grow up...please don't grow up..."

You remember a couple of months ago when I was having a really bad morning and you text messaged me to say I was the best mom anyone could ask for and you hope I have a good day? That message said to me that you're already growing up. It's okay for it to happen baby girl. It's so hard for me, because I love you as a child so much, but it's okay.

Unconditional love,

Mom

Dear my little silly bun aka Gracie,

You my daughter are the biggest character I've ever met. Your daddy and I agreed tonight that being an actress is your true calling. You love to sing and dance and entertain. Your expressions are an exaggerated art and you cry on the drop of a dime. Your sense of humor is so developed too, for a child your age.  And not a day goes by that people aren't saying how beautiful you are. I'm pretty sure that all moms say this, but I can't imagine what life would be like without you.  You've brought us so much love and laughter and have made our world a brighter place. You have a beautiful spirit that will impact the world in unknowable ways.

Thank you for the blessings you have given me.

Mommy

It's hard to believe, but we only have 34 school days left in this school year.  It's exciting to know that summer is coming and yet I think Gracie is going to miss school so much.  Her teachers say she is their star student. Our shy little thing apprarently loves to lead the class during learning time. She knows all of her phonics and is sounding words out now. She's been recommended for transitional kindergarten.  This is when kids are ready for kindergarten but they are too young to go.

Chelsea has wrapped up this school year beautifully. I was worried about her at the beginning of the year, because her grades had dropped, but she is now back to A's. As always, she is still the best teenager to be around. I keep wondering when she'll turn into the "bratty" teen, but I just don't see it happening. She's so mature, witty and insightful.

Jeff has been working his booty off at work and at home. Traveling out of town makes it so hard for him to maintain our house, but he's still doing it. I'm so proud of him and how hard he works.

The word has probably gotten around, but I'll mention it just in case. The funding was cut for my position by our governator, so I went through a couple of months of knowing I could lose my job. A week or two ago though, my school principal and superintendant came to see me and gave me the official word that they've pulled funding from somewhere else.  I was ecstatic. I am doing my dream job right now and I really really didn't want to lose it. I feel so blessed and honored to be there.

I have a new nephew named Grayden who was born on Monday. He's beautiful. Congratulations Havre Kings!

My parents bought a house and it will be closng this week! Congratulations mom and dad!

My brother David and sister in law Marilyn (who is expecting a baby girl in July named Armanda- after me) have settled in Gulf Port Mississippi and are loving it. Mare Bear is working as a waitress at the Hard Rock Cafe! Congratulations Dave and Mare!

Much love to all,

Abby
