4/11/09.
Life continues to be busy, busy and soo fun (most times :0) for the Healey Family! Both kids are really enjoying swimming lessons (be sure to check out the videos on the first page). And, since we're headed to Fl next week (can't wait),, we're excited to have a great pool right there every day (check back for lots of pics!).
We had the most chaotic night of an emergency change over from crib to big girl bed for Norah. She's always been the greatest sleeper and about a month ago, out of nowhere, she began to wake up in the middle of the night unconsolible and we'd bring her into our bed. I'm fine with the cuddle in mommy and daddy's bed here and there, but every night from 1am on was affecting all of our sleep! She was waking up 6am-ish (an hour ealier than norm) and not going back to sleep and she was taking shorter naps (also waking up upset and crying). So, last night was her first night in the big bed and she did much better,, slept through the night (ahhh...), up at 6:15- kind of early, but a step in the right direction!
Its so funny to watch bowen and norah growing into the best play buddies,,, Norah does EVERYTHING bowen does and Bowen loves having a little sidekick. Now this doesn't always work out in mommy and daddy's favor as bowen cheers her on to do things he
knows are on the naughty list!! And their relationship is very much a love/hate one! He takes a toy from her and she bites him,,, and sibling life goes on here at the healey house!

2/3/09  Now that most of my website updating is consumed by facebook,,, I'm slacking big time here!!!  Aunt Roseanne,,, these pics are for you!!!!!

Thanks Bethany, keep them coming for us facebook-free friends!

So, it's been some time since any stories have made their way here,,,  oops!  We're keeping ourselves busy (maybe an understatement!).  We're really enjoying having cousin Reef and Auntie Adrienne living close and spending lots of time with them.  Reef is so adorable and Bowen and Norah can't get enough of him!
Bowen and Norah are getting so big (i feel like a broken record).
Bowen at almost 3.5 yrs loves preschool.   Is too smart for his own good (or maybe Mommy and Daddy's own good...  I don't know where the expression terrible 2's came from,,, 2's were nothing compared to this wonderful year of 3!  YIKES)
Norah is little miss chatterbox these days with a huge vocabulary!  She's talking in full sentances, knows her ABC's, 123's, sings Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star fully and sings it to her dolls... and soo much more!
She is being treated for an ear infection right now and we all have these never ending colds... yuck ('tis the season!).
Happy Holidays Everyone.  We look forward to seeing many of you during the holiday season!

I know! 2 was a joy and for the most part, a breeze. 3 is much more challenging and we are only a week into it. :-)

We had some pictures done last weekend.  Some great ones of the kids!

9/16/08 Stay tuned for NH pics! We had a great time in the White Mountains!
Also,, set your TEVO! We made the news: This Sunday 6:15 and 8:15am, channel 12!
We happened to be having lunch at Angelo's in Federal Hill while channel 12 news was there.

What's wrong with Bethany's Arm?
Nothing major (we hope),, X-ray was normal,, but I haven't had an MRI.  Basically, I have pain in the front and side of my shoulder; tendonitis and for now the Dr. just wants me to do physical therapy and drugs.  I'm trying to strengthen the lower part of my rotator cuff to help bring my shoulders back more and stop pinching my tendon.  The pain began a couple days before NH. I started taking Naproxen which helped, but then forgot the naproxen...  I tried aleve, but its just not the same!  AFter one very restless and uncomfortable night I went to the local doc for more naproxen and a sling (it had gotten that bad!).  A couple days of drugs, it was feeling ok again (notice, I'm out of the sling by story land).

6/5/08
Field Trip Friday at the Fire Station!
We had a fun day today at the fire station.  When we first arrived the fire trucks were out at a fire.  However, we went over to the library next door for a bit to pass the time.  We headed back to the station, once the trucks were back.  We had fun sitting in trucks, boats, antique buggy truck, ambulance and even got to see the fireman go up the ladder (with stabilizer legs out- Bowen's particular favorite part!).  Both kids really enjoyed themselves.  Bowen was also anxious to get back to the "book store" (what he kept calling the library) as well.

September 3, 2008.
Bowen's first day of preschool!
It wasn't a big adjustment for Bowen, once he realized he didn't have to ride the bus today. We were rushing out of the house and he sat down and began to cry. I sat with him and asked him what was wrong. He said, "I don't want to ride the bus." So, I explained to him that he didn't have to ride the bus for another few years (phew...). The whole thing was very cute and memorable. I told him Mommy was just going to drop him off at Miss Heather's and that was great; as he's very used to going there (summer camp and play and learn short programs last year). It was a bigger adjustment for Mommy. I'm still trying to grasp the fact that my baby boy just started preschool!? and trying to figure out how the last 3 years flew by soo fast!

Norah had her gymnastics class today.
We ended up having a private class as we were the only one signed up! She was very spoiled and was able to run from the beam, to floor, to the vault, back to the beam (her favorite). We called it speed gymnastics (maybe a new olympic event?? She definitely missed Bowen around b/c she asked me constantly for him. She's pretty good at making herself heard these days too. If she asks us something and we're not giving her our undivided attention (not that hard for parents of a 3yr old and 21 month old... HAHA), she gently places both hands on our cheeks and turns our head to face her!

August 28, 2008.
Is it the end of summer already????
I can't believe how fast our lazy (yeah, right) days of summer flew by! Next week Bowen starts preschool on Wednesday :( It seems like yesterday we were starting our first baby playgroup!???
Norah and I are doing a mommy and me gymnastics class Wed AM, while Bowen's in preschool. Bowen and Daddy are doing soccer on Sat. mornings. And,, we're going to try to get in and try our URI's swim lessons (I hear are great and plus the pool is warm :) on Thursday nights.
We have a caterpillar project going on in the kitchen (see pics and stay tuned for updates on metamorphisis!)
We are also looking forward to our NH vacation coming up in 2 weeks!!!

8/14/08.  Busy Summer= Little Time for Website Updates!
We're doing great here!  Busy, busy, busy!  Bowen turned 3 and had a wonderful Birthday!  Thanks to our family and friends for all helping making his day special!  He's fully potty-trained :)) and growing up soo fast.  He starts preschool in September on Monday, Wednesday mornings and Norah and I will join for field-trip day Fridays!
Norah at 21 months, is also growing so fast (maybe not so much size wise -still our petite peanut), but she's talking up a storm and enjoys playing trucks, trains and anything else of Bowen's.  Not so much with dolls and princesses yet??  Maybe she'll be our tomboy!
We just today completed our outdoor swimming lessons for the summer.  They were really Bowen's lessons, but Norah and I joined every class and spent most of the time in the water following along.  They are both fish in the water and definitely have Mommy's and Daddys swimming genes.

6/15/08.  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

5/28/08.  Our black bear is big local news.  Turns out he's been quite the traveling bear going from Glocester-Scituate-Coventry-West Kingston-South Kingstown (us!)-Narragansett....  This same bear (they think) has been spotted town hoping in the past couple weeks!  They think he must have swam across the Narrow River.  The experts also think he's looking for a mate...  match.com??  The paper's have a better picture of him than I got.

5/27/08.  A BLACK BEAR ON BIRCHWOOD DRIVE!!??
WHAT??  Is what Mike and I thought too, but I did see him with my very own eyes!  8:30 last night, Mike was out watering the grass in the front yard when 4 police cruisers flew by (doesn't happen all that often...) and on their way back they told Mike to make sure our pets were all inside that there was a bear in our neighbor's yard.  Mike told me and after getting Nunu inside, being the animal person I am, I grabbed my camera and headed down the street.  There was a family from another neighborhood (the cop's neighbors) on their way down too.  No luck the 1st time down (forgot a flashlight, duh!), but on my 2nd attempt (I was determined) while following the police cruiser and the other family,, success!  The cop took us to the bear's hangout in our neighbor's yard and there he was a beautiful young cub sitting in her yard with a bird feeder in his lap having a snack!  We watched him for a bit (tried to take some pics- none came out :( though...). and then he got up and walked away.  I think he was definitely a young bear, which makes me think where his Mom??  probably not too far.  So, as amazing and exciting as it was to see him, it makes me wonder and worry about the effects of humans, development... on wildlife.  Last night the police officer told Mike he talked to DEM and they recommended just letting him be,, however Mike, on his way to work this AM passed a DEM truck with a bear trapping cage in the back.  So maybe they'll try to capture and relocate him.  Stay tunned for any updates!

5/26/08.  HAPPY MEMORIAL'S DAY!
I'm in a bad spell of forgetting my camera on our outings lately.  Forgot it today for the town Memorial Day Parade on Main Street, Wakefield.  The good news is we may be in Wednesday's paper-- we had a newspaper photographer snapping shots of the parade in front of us and he turn around a few times a got some of us.  He asked for our names, so we'll see...  Check back Wednesday to see...  It was a great little town parade with marching bands, veterans, other military, lots of fire trucks (Bowen's favorite!)
We also had a fun night last night in Gallilee at the beach, watching the ferry and lots of fishing boats come in, while eating chowder and clam cakes.  We told Bowen where we were going and he said, "What are you kidding about?",,,, translation... "Are you kidding me?" too cute.....

May 13, 2008.

Mike and I are quickly learning how extremely difficult, yet still so cute and funny the tender age of almost 3 can be...
We have jumped full force into the age of delightful defiance and major screaming and kicking meltdowns anywhere and everywhere.
Thank Goodness those times are followed by such things as; cuddle times and sharing with baby sister times.

Bowen still has an extremely large attention span for anything truck and extremely short attention span when Mommy tries projects like coloring, abc's, 123's, arts and crafts... (maybe Norah will craft with me!?)

A couple funny things from him lately;

When we had our chubby humming bird sitting at our feeder (see pics) yesterday morning. He was hanging around for a while. I said, "How long is this guy going to stay?" Bowen said, "45 minutes." I guess he knows something I don't about this guy!

Yesterday he was walking across the room with about 40 trucks balanced precariously in his arms (still the collector!). He said, in a painstaking voice, "I'm soo stressed!" I was secretly cracking up inside and yes, he definitely gets this right from me saying it daily!
It's a hard age, but a crucial age in development I keep thinking and telling myself daily/hourly...

As parents we try very hard to remain calm, kind and firm while going through more these challenging moments and remind ourselves regularly how lucky we are to have 2 healthy, happy, smart and wonderful children in our life!

May 11, 2008. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

5/4/08  Touch-A-Truck!  AKA: Bowen heaven!
I posted a few of the pics from yesterday touch-a-truck event.  Bowen cannot stop talking about it,, specifically the garbage man demonstrating how the truck smooshes and squishes and compacts garbage in the back.  This was pretty much the hit of the day as there were 20-30 boys with dropped jaws, in awe of this demo.  Bowen wouldn't budge as long as the truck was running.  After about 20 minutes of this I was ready to slip the garbage man a $20 if he would stop so we could go to Panera and get lunch!

Saturday
8:30 am Running to the bathroom again with one puking boy.
11:00 am Thanking the maker of Children's Motrin and riding the Gondola up to the top of Loon on a beautiful Spring skiing day in NH.

1-4 pm Everyone naps,,, aaahhh....
4:01 pm Norah wakes up crying, puking again.
4:30 pm More drugs for the kids.
4:45 pm Since there's no way we're making it to the pool this trip, Mommy and the kids get in the jacuzzi tub for our own mini pool fun!
5:30 pm AFter a snack everyone seems recharged and up for a little dinner outing.
6:00 pm Bowen melts down while at Nichole and Matt's room,, dinner plans off.
7:00 pm Kids in bed with more drugs, we eat our take out food and relax,,, aaahhh..

Sunday
6:30 am Everyone's awake after Norah sleeping on Daddy all night long in one bed and Bowen and Mommy together in another (Daddy and Mommy slept here and there...).
10:00 am Attend mandatory sales meeting at Pollard Brook.
11:30 am New owners of Pollard Brook timeshare!!!!!?????
12:00 pm Kids are getting really bored and fevers are starting again. I have meltdown because I can't take another second of this sales pitch. Mike calmly and diplomatically makes a deal with the guy so I can escape and check out of our room.
12:30 pm Meet Nichole and Matt in parking lot of Woodstock Station to get our take out lunch to eat on the ride home, while the kinds slept.
2:00 pm Both kids wake up as we go through a NH toll. Bowen is crying and inconsolable for the next 1/2 hour. It takes some major pleading from us and one of us to ride in the back seat -in the middle of the carseats (ugghh)- for the rest of our ride.
4:30 pm Make it home. Very glad to see Birchwood Drive!
8:00 pm Kids in bed as we relax on the couch and think about our next vacation!
Thank You Nichole and Matt for inviting us, hope we can do it again (now that we're fellow owners :), but, without the stomach bug part!  Oh well, we made the best of it and now we can all look back and laugh!

April 10, 2008

Bowen's rendition of our favorites from discussion during breakfast today.

Bowen likes trucks.
Norah likes dollies.
Nunu likes birdies.
So I asked, "What does Mommy like?"
After a long thoughtful pause he said, "pants, shirts shoes and belts."
and Daddy likes, "underwear and pants."
I guess that sums it all up!

Story Entry Sucessful!!

I keep thinking I want to be better about adding stories to our website for several reasons; to share milestones, events and fun and cute stories about the kids with family and friends and as a way to remember all this for oursleves (I'm horrible with the babybooks!). Everytime I have tried in the past few months, I'd type less than one sentance and who knows what, but something would happen to foil my attempts!
I figure, since a picture is worth a thousand words, they are more important anyway (just making myself feel better about slacking on the stories,, ha!).

The kids are both growing up soo fast! Bowen has been going to 1/2 a day of preschool once a week and seems to love it (see pics). Ms. Heather (his teacher/also our babysitter) is great with the kids! He met his first girlfriend a couple weeks ago there. This is what Ms. Heather emailed me, "He was so funny with Mia today, lifting up his shirt to show her his belly and then lifting hers up to tickle her. During the story, they laid down in the circle and just kept looking at each other and laughing! A love connection?" Too cute!!
Norah is also completely obsessed with belly buttons right now. You can't expect to be anywhere near here without having your belly button exposed to the world. She finds it, then "beeps" it. Again,, too cute!

On the downside, both kids are sick right now; colds, ears... Norah is on Amoxi (which I truley hate) and Bowen will probably start after his Dr. appt tomorrow.

Our Easter Egg Hunt for 2008 was a huge success! So much so, we might have to make it an annual event!?! Thank you to everyone whom joined us!

We also had a wonderful Easter Sunday! The messy bunny prints and carrot crumbles were a big hit with Bowen and both kids enjoyed their Easter baskets left at our house, at Mimi's house and even some early arrivals in the mail from Aunt Jan and Uncle Gus! Thank You to everyone for being soo generous with gifts for the kids!

Norah at 15 months is a full-time walker now. She's still such a peanut at just over 20lbs, it makes her look so cute to be walking all over! Bowen likes to climb into Norah's highchair pretend he's a baby and then gets out and pretends he's just learning to walk. I make a big deal and get all excited for him and he loves it. I love encouraging imaginary and pretend play of kids this age!

Well I'm very proud of myself for sucessfully entering in a full story, but time to get Bowen up from his marathon nap (catching up on being awake for a couple hours last night from being sick, the poor thing...)).
