July 27th, 2006- Sarayah is walking now. Not very well but she can take a couple of steps here and there when she is in the mood. To see that you need to watch the video on the website. She is a ham. She loves to show off in front of anyone. She is however grumpy because she is cutting her top teeth. They are giving her way more trouble than the bottom ones did. She eats anything that she can get her little fingers on no matter how big or small the object is...it is in her mouth. Then when you go to take it away she screams because she hates to be told no. Her hair is getting a lot thicker now. I can actually put hairbows in it and they will stay. She loves having Myles here at the house and he is a great baby sitter!
July 11th, 2006- Sarayah went for her 9 month check up today. She is 29in. long, which is the 90th percentile. She weighs 19lbs 11ozs. Both her head and her weight is in the 60th percentile. Dr. Laney said that she looks great. He also said that we are going to be in for it because she is such a strong willed baby and she is going to be into everything. I already knew that. Sarayah took 2 more steps last night. She loves to stand up by herself. She thinks it is the funniest thing. I can't believe that only 3 more months and she will be a year old. I hate time!
July 8th, 2006- Well, a lot has happened in the past few weeks. Josh and I went to Panama City, FL for a week and while we was gone Sarayah learned how to wave bye-bye, learned how to crawl on her hands and knees and took her first step. It made me very upset. I knew she was going to do it. When we got home today she was holding my sunglasses and stood up and let go of me and kept her balance for atleast 10 seconds by herself. ALSO....we brought Myles back home with us for a while. We are so excited, especially Sarayah. She kept attacking him and yelling at him. It was so cute. He wanted to hold her like he used to and when I sat her on his lap you could hardly see Myles because she is so big. I will take a video of her walking when she gets good at it. It is so good to be at home with her again!
Sarayah has a new word. She has a babydoll that has a pacifier that looks like hers that she loves, so I have been trying to teach her how to say "baby". Last night she kept saying "diddy". I had no clue what that meant until Josh handed her babydoll to her and she hugged it and smiled and said "diddy". So her babydolls name is Diddy. Every word starts with D. I will pat the baby and say "baby" and then she pats it and says "diddy". She is so funny.
June 23rd, 2006- Sarayah is terrified of the vacuum cleaner. She doesn't cry when she hears it but she yells and shakes like she is off balance. She won't look at the vacuum either. Where ever the vacuum is she will look the other way. She loves the blow dryer so I don't understand. Sarayah also knows what the word "no" means now. If she is playing with the buttons on the phone I'll say "no" and she jerks her hand down onto her lap. She also gets her feelings hurt easily now. If Josh or Mama tells her no then she pokes her lip out and starts to cry. I can't believe my child is so sensitive. Also, if she bites you and you say ouch then she starts to cry. Her little personality is starting to shine!
June 9th, 2006- Well, Sarayah climbed out of her highchair and fell to the floor this morning. She scared me to death. The good thing about it was that the bag of dog food broke her fall or she would have hit the floor directly. She is ok now except for the big red spot on her forehead. I think she has a little bit of whiplash too because when she did it she wouldn't hold her head up very long but thank God she is now. She has been leaning out of her highchair for sometime now but I never thought she could actually push herself out. I guess when you have a monkey for a child all things are possible. From now on I am going to have to ducttape her to the highchair.
June 5th, 2006- Sarayah is growing up so much. She can sit up on her own from laying down now. She was in the floor last night and I looked back over at her and she was sitting up so I am assuming no one helped her. She says "hey" everytime she looks at anyone she knows. She loves to eat whatever I am eating. I think the baby food thing is going to be over pretty quickly. She looks so funny when she chews, she looks like an 80 year old man that has no teeth. Note to self-never give Sarayah some chocolate ice cream before her dinner time. I let her have a lick of my ice cream and then tried to feed her peas.....yeah right. She also has a temper and already will not listen to me. Last night she was pitching a fit...stiffeneing her back and screaming and all Josh had to do was say her name and she quit. Made me so mad! I guess I am going to have to make my voice deep and stearn for her to listen to me. Sarayah also loves to stand and walk while holding on to fingers. She stood up the whole time during church. I think she will be walking on her own in a month or two. Time to baby proof the house!, or atleast hope she doesn't get hurt before we move into another one.
We put our house on the market last Thursday. Josh wants to move closer to Marion so I guess that is what we are going to do because he does pay all of the bills. Hopefully our house will sell quickly!
May 29th, 2006- I have been without my child for 2 days now and I'm about to go crazy. I miss her so bad. Mama has kept her since saturday because we went to the race yesterday. "YE-HAW" That is definatly like nothing else I have ever been to. Anyway, Sarayah can say "bite-bite" now, and she waves her arm when you say bye-bye. When she is eating a popsicle between every bite she yells "bi-bi-, bi-bi!" She isn't even 8 months old yet and she talks all of the time. I can't wait until she can say full sentences, I won't be able to shut her up!
Why does my kid keep saying words that aren't "MAMA"?! Today she said dog. When is she ever going to say my name?! Anyway, Sarayah has slept either in the bassinet next to the bed or in the bed with us since she was born. Well, I always said that Sarayah would move into her own room after she had her surgery. Well, she has had her surgery and now Josh won't let her move in there and she is way too big for her bassinet now. He is afraid something is going to happen to her. So, it was Josh's big idea to move her crib into our room.....great idea. The crib was too big to fit through the doorway so we had to take the whole thing apart. Now my daughter is going to be in my room until she is 30....oh well! What can I say...her daddy loves her.
May 18th, 2006- Sarayah got her stitches out today. She did great! She didn't move at all while he was taking them out. Her ears look great as well. You can't really even tell that she had anything done. I am so glad that this whole ordeal is over with. On to another subject, my daughter can say Tessa, well actually it comes out as "Te-Ta" but it is definately Tessa because she says it when she sees the dog. I have worked with my child for months to say mama and what does she say?....the dogs name! I guess she knows how to say her name because she hears me yell it all of the time for Tessa to stop doing something. I am going to have to yell "mama" all of the time for it to get into her head so she will say it.
May 12th, 2006- The surgery went well. It didn't last but 45 minutes. We had to be there at 6:30am and were home by 8:30am. She only stayed in the recovery room for 20 minutes while she woke up and I fed her a bottle and then we got to bring her home. The anesthesia has made an opposite effect on her because she is bouncing off of the walls! She hasn't taken a nap since she was put to sleep at 7 this morning and it is 12 now. Her little ears look wierd without the ear tags on them. Bethany said that it makes her ears look bigger. She has little bandaids on them now. She goes back for a post-op visit on monday to check her out and then she gets the stitches out next thursday or friday. I can't wait to see the final result. I on the other hand am exhausted! I hope we get her schedule straitened out before too long. Thank you to everyone who prayed for Sarayah. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
May 11th,2006- We have another tooth. It's right beside the one on the bottom. Not only is she hurting because of her teeth but tomorrow she is going to be hurting because of her ears. I can't wait for the next couple of nights! Sarayah's newest craze is popsicles. She loves them! She will jerk them out of mine and Josh's hands and stick them in her mouth. Well, I will write more on her tomoprrow to let you know how Sarayah's surgery goes. It's at 7 instead of 7:30 now. I'm so nervous!
April 27th, 2006- Sarayah finally has her first tooth. It broke the skin this morning, and boy is it sharp! She also graduated to the big bath tub. She has so much fun in there kicking around and splashing. She also wore a hair bow for the first time today. She didn't really like me putting it in her hair but she was fine. Today was a day full of firsts!
April 26th, 2006- All I can say is it's about time! Sarayah FINALLY slept through the night!! I woke up at 7 and it was daylight. It then hit me that I didn't have to get up and feed her all night so of course it scared me. I looked over in the bassinet to check if she was still breathing and everything was ok. She woke up like 10 minutes later and looked over the edge of the bassinet at me with this scared look on her face like "why am I in here?" It was so cute. I hope that this is a continuous thing. Her first tooth is pushing her gum up but hasn't broke the skin yet. You can tell that she is in pain. Oh yeah she is crawling too or creeping as the pros like to call it. She is very fast now. I have to baby proof the house soon or she will be sticking her ringers in light sockets.
I found out today that her surgery is going to be Friday, May 12th at 7:30am. The dr said that it shouldn't take long at all so she won't have to be put under very far. The insurance is going to pay for it thank goodness! I am going to lose an awful lot of weight before then because I already can hardly eat. This is going to be the hardest thing that I have ever had to do, giving my precious little girl to some total strangers and having her life in their hands. I am going to hold her the entire night before she has it. I guess this is going to be one of those major times that I am going to have total faith in God that he is going to take care of her. I can't even think about this without crying. I am going to have to be put on nerve pills or I am going to be a wreck. She has no idea of what is going to happen in 3 weeks, which in some ways is a blessing. Everyone that reads this I would greatly appreciate it if you all would pray for her, and me that God will have his hands on the anesthesiologist and Dr. Swanks hands giving them perfect guidance.
April 19th, 2006- We took Sarayah to the plastic surgeon yesterday and they said that since she is healthy that they could do her surgery at any time. We are just waiting on the insurance to see if they are going to pay for it or not. I hope they do. As soon as we hear from the insurance company, they will set a date for her surgery. We will keep you all updated! I am going to be a disaster!
April 11th, 2006- Sarayah went for her 6 month check-up today. She weighs 17 pounds, she is 26 and a half inches long and she is in the 75th percentile for everything. Dr. Laney said that she looks beautiful! I find out later on today when her appointment is with the plastic surgeon. She did great with her shots today. She cried a little when they stuck her but shortly after that she quit. They had to prick her finger to check her hemoglobin and she didn't even cry when they did that. She just watched the nurse squeeze the blood out. I was very shocked....but mostly relieved. I didn't feel like crying today. Sarayah can crawl now. She crawls mostly backwards but she can do the forward thing pretty well. She is such a great baby...I am so greatful for that!
April 3rd, 2006- Sarayah can say "Da-Da". It is too cute! Her mouth looks so funny when she says it. It is more along the lines of "dadadadada" But hey we can believe that she says DaDa can't we? She is so curious about everything. She knows what the camera is and that she is supposed to smile when it is in front of her. Smart kid!....or maybe it's just the fact that she is female. Crawling is coming along pretty well. She lays her head down on the ground and pushes with her feet to scoot to her toys that I place away from her. We go to the doctor next tuesday and then he will refer us to a plastic surgeon for her ears. Gee, I can't wait for that moment to get here.:(
March 30th, 2006- Well, I am counting my days until I have to chase this child around the house. She is trying her best to crawl. She can already scoot backwards but she can't go forwards...makes no sense really. She found her feet today. At the mall you would have thought her keds were coated with sugar or for her applesauce. She is also at the brink of cutting a tooth. I wish she would go ahead because I know it hurts. I dread the summer because I am going to have to keep my child naked to keep her from sweating so bad. Today as mild as it was she was dripping with sweat. Don't know where she got that. She will be 6 months old in 12 days...hard to believe.
