7/15/08-- Man we're behind!  Okay, so Grandma came and left.  Mommy-O, Daddy-O, Aunt Melody, Jonas, Kaemon, Aunt Jordan, and Uncle Klif came and left (we had Christmas with a tree and everything!)  We had a wonderful July 4th at Huntington Beach.  Jake started swim school on the 7th.  And finally, we're moving... which is why there's such a huge delay.  We've been hurridly packing boxes and trying to sell our furniture so that we can afford the move (ironic, is it not?)  Oh, and also the camera broke.  It will still take pictures as long as you don't mind a scratch on them.  In fact, in some pictures you don't even notice it.  Fabulous.

Jacob is adorable and smart and improves his vocabulary every day.  He loves playing superheroes with Harry and Miles (Jake is Superman) and he likes to "read" a couple of books: "Blue Hat, Green Hat" and "Hug."  He composes funny songs and sometimes our arguements sound like an opera.  "Noooooo.... you must goooooo to bed!" "Nooooooo.... I will not goooooooo to bed!  It is dayyyyyy tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!!"

Jacob: Hey Daddy, want to play the Why game?

Daddy: No.

Jacob: Why?

Daddy: Are you playing the Why game?

Jacob: Yeah.

Daddy: I said I don't want to play the why game.

Jacob: Why?

6/9/08--  Today was a fire station tour.  Jake and about 15 other kiddoes saw Fire Station No. 4 and all the trucks.  Fireman Bret was great with the kids and let them look at and touch everything.  All the kids had a great time.  Jacob was especially brave and was first in line for everything.  He touched all the gear, crawled around with the fire fighters, and asked lots of questions like, "Do you have milk?"  He also asked fire fighting related questions like, "Does that go on your eyes?" and "Do you have lots of pockets?" which led to more demonstration.  Afterward, it was time for a milk break at Starbucks.

6/5/08--  Today Daddy went to school and everyone else went to the Huntington Library.  We were told that it was a one hour drive, but is wasn't until 2 hours and 45 minutes later that we arrived.  (Part of that was traffic, part was mapquest.)  We had a picnic lunch on the outside lawn then went inside.  We skipped the art museum and headed to the Children's Garden.  Jacob really liked playing in the fountains and sitting at the little table in the house made of vines.  Later we visited the Chinese garden and parts of the Japanese garden (where Jacob was trying to take rocks out of the Zen garden).  The family headed back home on a different route and made it home in time for dinner and bed.

6/2/08--  Grandma's here!!!  As soon as Grandma stepped off the escalator, Jacob was asking, "Did you bring me Superman pajamas?"  So before the luggage had even made it onto the baggage claim carosel, Grandma had opened her carry-on and Superman was unveiled.  For the rest of the day, Jacob was wearing pajamas over his clothes.  This has solved the problem of crying when told that capes cannot be worn to bed.

6/1/08--  The family met up with Daynah, Brandon, and Milah at Laguna Beach for pizza and a sunset.  Jake enjoyed getting wet with each wave and by the end of the evening, the only dry spot on him was a six inch circle where his jacket hood had covered him.

5/25/08--  Jacob and the family went shopping today and Jake got to ride the Big Wheel with his Daddy.  This was his first time and he had no problems.  He said, "That was really REALLY fun!"

5/20/08--  Jacob went to the zoo today with all of his friends.  He really had a good time on the playground and he and Ethan ran and played in the sand until they were laughing like crazy.  Jacob then fed the goats and sheep, watched some monkeys swinging around, and played on the big tunnel.

5/18/08--  Today was a scorcher so the family went to the Irvine Spectrum Center to play in the fountain.  Jake had tons of fun stepping on "sprinklers" and sitting on the "spit turtles."  He had chicken strips for lunch and then went back to the water.

5/12/08--  An example of getting Jake to bed,

"Jacob, do you want to go to bed on the couch, in your bed, or on Mommy and Daddy's bed?"

"I don't want to go to bed."

"Sorry.  It's bed time.  Where do you want to sleep?"

"I want to sleep on nothing."

"Nothing is not a choice!"

"Nothing is a choice and nothing is not a choice."

And then what do you say to that???  Jacob is the Buddha!!!

5/11/08--    Happy Mother's Day!  Jacob spent the afternoon at Chuck-E-Cheese's while his mommy got a massage next door.  Jacob really liked the games but kept calling Chuck E. Cheese Mickey Mouse.

5/8/08--  For the past two weeks Jacob and Ella have been going to bed at the same time.  Both kids get dressed in their pajamas and are carried to their room.  Jake jumps into his bed (literally) and picks out three books for his Daddy to read.  Jessica puts Ella in her bed and gives her two ounces of milk.  While Ella is drinking, Jessica shows Ella a couple of books.  Jacob's current favorite is "Bed Bed Bed" and Ella's current favorite is "Whose Baby Am I?"

5/2/08--  Jacob woke up before Jessica had gone to work and was very sad that he could not go too.  Jessica explained that she would miss him very much and that she would be home after lunch to see him.  This seemed to suffice and Jacob ran to Jessica to give her a big hug... and then he tooted all over the place and laughed hysterically.  Such a boy...!  When Jessica came home from work, the whole family piled into the car to go meet our new friend, Benjamin Kidd, Ethan's new little brother!  Ben was born at 10:21AM after only 4 hours of labor.  Mom and baby are doing great and we'll be excited to see them home  : )

5/1/08--  While Ella was taking a nap, Jacob and Jessica made cookies.  Jacob is a big help and likes to roll the balls of dough in the cinnamon and sugar.  He also enjoys licking the spoon...err....cleaning up.

4/19/08--  Today was UCI Open House and the family met up with the Bullios and walked over to the festivities.  Jacob jumped, rode airplanes, went down a huge slide, and generally had a great time.  He did hurt himself when jumping off of the slide, but kettle corn seemed to make everything better.

4/17/08--  Jacob has been doing very well.  He's happy to be three and lets everyone know, "I'm gonna be four!"  His favorite books are "What's the Time, Mr. Wolf?," and "Blue Hat, Green Hat."  He's completely infatuated with superheroes and he and his buddy, Harry, play superheroes all day.  Jake is Superman and Harry is Spiderman.  Mommy is Batman and Daddy is Light Man (a superguy Harry's bother, Miles, made up).  Most of Ella's baby blankets have been recommissioned as capes.  Jacob's favorite foods are peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, strawberries, and spaghetti, though there are few food that he won't eat.

4/15/08--  Today Jacob went to his first town hall meeting.  The Family went to support BJ, our nurse midwife, and oppose the closing of the maternity ward at South Coast Medical Center.  There were at least 50 families in attendance, all with babies in tow.  Jacob was very good and very quiet so we all went out for dinner afterwards.

4/9/08--  Today the whole family went to the aquarium to celebrate the one day of Spring Break that both Kris and Jessica share.  Jacob looked at lots of fish, touched all kinds of slimy beasties, and ran around outside playing on the boat and the fish.  Later, the family took a walk down the pier and ate lunch.  On the way back to the car, the family stopped inside an arcade to let Jake play some games.  On his second game, Jacob hit the jackpot and ended up with a prize of 295 tickets.  He cashed in and got a dinosaur, a spiderman villain, and some stickers.  Then the man at the ticket counter gave him a sucker.  Jacob was so exhausted that he fell asleep in the car on the way home.
