7/27/06--  Today Jessica and Maroua took Jacob and Rami to JCPenney's to get their pictures taken together.  What a disaster!!!  At first, Rami was happy and Jacob was crying.  Then Jacob was happy and Rami was crying.  It was such a mess!  We eventually got a picture with moms holding babies, but Rami had had it for the day.  He was not interested in participating AT ALL.  Jacob calmed down and got a couple of cute shots which will be picked up in August.

7/22&23/06--  We did not go swimming this weekend because it was too darn hot.  Instead we all took a nap in front of the fan.

7/19/06-- Today Jessica, Jacob, Maroua, Rami, and Bridget went to the Spectrum Center to do a little shopping and to play in the fountain.  Rami and Jacob had a great time trying to catch the flying water globs.

7/16/06--  Today was a busy day.  First, Jacob and Rami went swimming at the pool.  After that, Jake went home and took a nap.  That evening he went to the Orange County Buddhist Church for their Obon Festival.  Jacob and Rami ate Japanese food and snow cones, they watched the taiko drumming, and they danced...well, okay, they ran around in circles while other people were dancing.

7/15/06--  Today was swimming day.  Jacob had a great time in the water.  He really liked jumping from the side into his daddy's arms and he sort of learned to kick.  Mostly, his kicking is like a frog, but still very cute.  There would be a video of this, but while remember to replace the batteries, Kris and Jessica forgot to insert the memory card.

7/14/06-- The family took an impromptu trip to the beach today.  Jake was asleep by the time we got there, though, so we all drove down Pacific Coast highway to Dana Point, got drinks at a drive through, and then headed back to Laguna Beach.  By then, Jacob had taken a full nap and was ready to go.  We played in the waves and the tide pools until Jake got hungry.  We then headed over to BJ's for pizza.  The camera ran out of batteries early, so there are only a couple of pictures.

7/8/06-- We went again to the pool, this time with Auntie Bridget and Uncle Mark.  Jacob really loved the water and thinks that it's really funny when his dad gets dunked.  Other Jake info:  As soon as Jessica gets dressed for work, he starts waving and saying, "Bye bye!"  and will say "Bye!" until Jessica gets into the car to leave.  He "talked" on the phone for the first time last week to his Grandma, but has gone back to being a shy guy.  He tells Kris when it's bed time by walking over to the couch and laynig his head down.  He loves to throw things...sometimes at the cats.  They are not very fond of this new skill.  Jake likes to climb into the rocking chair and rock.  He brings us books to read to him and he can always point out the kitty, the monkey, or the fish.  It's a little hit or miss on any other animals.  Among his favorite books are:  Curious George goes to the Aquarium, Pajama Time, Barnyard Dance, and the Cat Encyclopedia (which he can barely lift).

7/1/06-- Today we went to the pool with Hope and Ethan (who, by the way, is six months old today).  Both boys loved the water and had lots of fun.  The Anteater Rec Center only allows kids on weekends, so this will be our Saturday routine for the summer.

6/27/06-- For the past few days, Jacob has been saying "uh oh!" all the time.  It only sometimes coincides with something falling.

6/25/06-- On the way to get bagels this morning, we got lost and decided to go to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego instead.  At the gate we were lucky enough to be the recipients of free passes from a family who had extras.  We saw a lot of animals on the train ride, but it was really hot, so we cut the visit down to just a few hours.  Jacob's favorite activity was petting the deer.  Tomorrow Kris goes bak to work on his portfoilo so it'll be back to the daily grind. Teeth numbers 13 and 14 are here-- top canines.

6/24/06-- We had intended to go swimming at the Rec Center today, but it was closed for maintenance.  Undeterred, we headed for the beach for an afternoon out.  The water was really cold today so we stayed in the warmer, shallower tide pools.  Jacob likes to throw rocks into the water and watch them splash.  Jake fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep long enough for "family nap time" which is our favorite past-time.

6/21/06-- Grandma left today.  Jacob has started taking a running start before giving a huge bear hug.  It's awesome!  His new favorite food is frozen peach slices.  He's working on combining signs like "no" and "cheese" before spitting out his food.

6/20/06-- Jacob had his 15 month check-up today.  He is 31 inches tall and weighs 23 lbs, 3 oz.  His head is 18 5/8 inches around.  He got a finger prick to test for iron levels (not only did he pass, but he didn't even cry!) and two shots.  He's been feeling fine this evening and won't have another appointment until September.

6/16/06-- Today Jake got to hang out with Grandad and Grandma Linda.  We first went to JCPenney's to get pictures made and then headed to Laguna Beach.  We ate pizza for lunch and then went to check out the tide pools.  Jacob played in the pools and walked along the shoreline.  Then the family went for dessert and headed home.

6/15/06-- Jaocb got a haircut today.  He sat in the chair all by himself and didn't make a peep.

6/13/06-- Jaob woke up with a cold this morning, so our plans for horseback riding have been cancelled.  Instead, we went to the Museum of Northern Arizona and the Flagstaff Arboretum.  Jacob liked looking at things, but you could tell that he was not feeling well, so we went ahead and checked in at the airport early.  The flight home was pleasantly uneventful and we arrived home at about 11PM.

6/12/06-- Kris had to leave to attend an important meeting at school, so he left Flagstaff at 7AM.  Ethel, Jessica, and Jacob went to visit the South Rim for the day.  We did some scenic driving, lots of stopping at viewpoints, and a little hiking along the rim.  We stayed to watch the sun set over the Grand Canyon and then headed home.

6/11/06-- Off to Sedona!  We all visited Red Rock National Park and other little parks in the area.  Jacob and Jessica waded in a creek at Cathedral Rock before heading off onto an extremely bumpy, but very scenic, trail up the mountains.

6/10/06-- Headed to the North Rim, the fearless family passed through the Coconino National Forest, the Painted Desert, the Navajo Reservation, Jacob Lake, and finally the Khabib National Forest (which, incidentally, was on fire at the time).  We entered the park and headed towards the main lodge to hike a couple of trails.  The views were spectacular and the weather was perfect.
