1/23/06-- Today we went on a stroll. Jacob got to look at birds, eat some sandwich, and took a nap in the park on campus. 1/20/06-- We went to the zoo today, but forgot the memory card for the camera. Jacob actually noticed animals this time. He laughed at a sheep and liked to watch the monkeys swinging around. 1/16/06-- Jacob had his 9 month doctor's appointment...one month late. He's at 30 inches (65th percentile), 19lbs, 14 oz (40th percentile), and his head is 60th percentile. There were no shots today, so everything went great. 1/15/06-- UPDATE: Jacob is the cutest he's ever been. He laughs and plays all the time. He's always "talking" or "singing" to us. He snuggles close when he's tired. He's pulling up on everything and can stand for a few seconds at a time. We can hold his hands to help him walk. He can hold his own cup to drink and he feeds himself every meal. He can eat almost everything now, barring high allergen foods until he's one year. His standard meal consists of lunch meat, cheese, Cheerios, and a veggie. He really likes peas and beans. He can drink out of a juice box by himself, though he prefers just plain water. We're still not sure what color his eyes are... 1/14/06-- While Daddy went to traffic school, Mommy and Jacob went with Maroua (Rami's mom) and her family to the aquarium. We all had a great time. Jacob loves it more and more each time we go. Rami was afraid of the fish at first, but liked to touch the sting rays and splash in the water. Both boys have a great time playing together. 1/9/06-- Jacob keeps standing on his own without even knowing it... 1/5/06-- Jacob has stood on his own several times today. We went to the park with his pal, Rami. Jake went on the swing for the first time and also played with a little walker toy. He had a blast! The weather today is in the upper 70s and sunny, so Jake is back to shorts and a tshirt. 1/01/06-- Jacob spent his New Year waiting for his new best friend to be born. Ethan Paul Kidd was born at 2:21 AM to Hope and Chad Kidd. He was the first baby born at Irvine Regional Medical Center in 2006. 12/28/05-- Jacob stood up on his own today! He crawled up to Jessica, pulled up on her knee, and let go. It was only for a moment, but he's done it twice today, so he's getting ready for walking... 12/26/05-- Today the whole family went to the beach to check out the ocean and the tide pools. Jacob's cold is lingering, but he's almost back to his sweet, laid-back self. 12/25/05- Stuff Jacob received for Christmas: hand-made sweater, books, Peppermint bear, Octotunes, Comfi computer keyboard, lots of cool clothes, puzzle, ring stacker, hand-made cloth books, 2005 coins, a name train, bath toys, traditional Japanese clothes from Japan... (I'm writing this after the fact and am having a hard time remembering all the wonderful gifts we opened!) 12/22/05-- Jacob has had a cold for the last few days, but is getting better. We've been getting ready for Christmas: Grandma has come for a visit, Uncle John will be coming on Christmas Eve, and Jacob will be ready to eat Christmas dinner with his family at the table. You can count on tons of pictures... 12/18/05-- Nine months already! Here is a list of Jake's current accomplishments: crawling, pulling up, climbing stairs, standing alone for a couple of seconds, drinking by himself, drinking from a straw, feeding himself finger foods, babbling, he knows his name and a few other words like drink, kitty, mommy, and daddy. He has six teeth and smiles all the time. 12/17/05-- The whole family went back to the beach to hang out and eat pizza. This time they found tide pools and saw lots of sea creatures.
12/16/05-- Jacob and mom went to a friend's house to make Christmas cookies. He had a great time watching the mixer and the saran wrap. He even had a little cookie made just for him! 12/12/05-- This morning we went to pick out a Christmas tree. We got lights and a star (a lone star, no doubt) and tied the tree to the top of the Keating's rented minivan. Jacob is not sure what to think about the whole Christmas tree thing, but he's more than willing to "help" Mommy and Daddy with the ornaments. I hate to spoil the Christmas cheer, but the red nose on "Jacob the Red Nosed Reindeer" is not paint. Jake took a nose dive (literally) out of Kris's lap and landed flat on his face. Luckily, Kris was sitting in the floor with the baby and not on the couch, but it's left a nice little bruise all the same. When Jessica went to work, Jacob and Kris went to see Narnia. Jake slept the entire time and continued sleeping until late into the night. We suspect that one or more teeth might be out soon based on the difficult time Jacob has been having and the fact that he's slept so long tonight. 12/11/05-- Today was Jacob's fourth trip to the aquarium. He still loves the puffer fish the best and was trying very hard to catch them. He also received his fourth haircut this morning (just a trim). 12/10/05-- Today everyone went to Laguna Beach for the Sawdust Art Festival. Michelle and Tim Keating are visiting, so we went sightseeing at the beach as well. The beach was beautiful and we all had a great time. 12/2/05-- Jacob goes around buzzing his lips while he plays. It's very cute and it seems to make him happy.
