6/7/05-- Yet another milestone! Jacob rolled from his tummy to his back. Jessica's mom was babysitting and was witness to the event. 6/6/05-- Jacob has reached a new milestone! He can now grab things! He has consistantly been able to grab the bug which dangles from his play gym. 5/31/05-- Jacob's "vocabulary" increases day by day. His pseudo words are: ah goo, ah gah, ah geh, ti cue, and guuuuuuu. This last one we pretend his Jacob saying how gooooood his parents are. 5/20/05--We took Jacob to the UCI Arboretum today. He did a lot of sleeping, but was awake long enough to play in the grass with us. 5/19/05--Jacob's 2 month appointment was both good and bad. Good because he's grown to 12 lbs, 7 oz, 23 inches long, and his head is 15 1/2 inches around. Bad because Jessica had to leave the room BEFORE the baby got his shots because she was crying. What a wimp! Anyway, Jacob is doing well and won't get polio any time soon. Jacob got his first cold this week. The doctor said that he's fine but to keep an eye on him to make sure that he doesn't get any worse. He weighed in at 12 lbs, 2 oz. The weekend of April 21 st, we were visited by Kris's parents, his sister, and her baby. We took the group to San Juan Capistrano and also took a look at Laguna Beach. We took Jacob and Jonas to get pictures taken on Saturday--what a task! It is hard enough to take pictures of one baby and two was nearly impossible!!! Luckily (with much patience) the photographer was able to get some really cute pictures which will be posted in a couple of weeks. Jacob laughed! Last night (4/24) Kris was changing Jacob's diaper and making faces. Jacob thought this was hilarious. Jacob went to get his one-month pictures on Monday, April 18th. Unfortunately, he was not in the best of spirits and we had to reschedule for the next day. Everything went smoothly and we'll have photos online to view around the 2nd of May. Jessica's dad and step-mom came to visit April 8th through 11th. Jacob went to his first restaurants--In N Out Burger and Korea House BBQ--and behaved like a perfect angel. He also took his first trip out of Irvine to San Juan Capistrano. We had to stop for feedings a few times, but all in all it was a good trip. Jessica went into "prelabor" at 5:45 AM on Thursday the 17th. She went to a doctor's appointment at 4:30 and was only 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Because she was nearly a week overdue, the doctor wanted her to go to the hospital for monitoring. While there, her contractions became regular and increased in intensity. She went home, labored a few hours, and at around midnight decided it was time to go. At the hospital, she was examined and was at 4 cm. An hour and a half later she got an epidural and labored throughout the night. The next day they broke her water at 8:00 AM and then started Pitocin at 9:15. Jacob was born at 12:44 PM after 30 minutes of pushing. There were no complications and mother and baby are doing fine. Jacob was 8 lbs, 15 oz and 20.25 inches long.
