7/28/07-- Today was a day full of friends. In the morning, Jacob went to the birthday party of his friend, Kate, who turned three. Kate had pizzas, grapes, and strawberries, followed by a dino cake and ice cream. If all of this sounds familiar it is because this is what Jacob had at his party as well. Kate was so enamored with Jacob's party that she told her mom to make all of the same things. The kiddos had fun with the pinata, but prefered to ignore the candy. This evening was a going away party for Maroua, Ryan, and Rami. The whole gang came over for baked nachos and all the fixins. Ryan and Rami left for Columbia, Missouri in the early morning hours; Rami will stay with his grandparents while Ryan returns with the truck and he and Maroua will be leaving California for good next week. It is going to be really hard for Jacob to lose his best friend, but we will try very hard to keep in touch. It's hard to imagine life without Rami since he and Jake have been together since Jacob was 5 months old and Rami was 8 months old. 7/27/07-- Kris took Jake and Ella for a quick trip to the store before bedtime, but had to return prematurely. Jacob kept falling asleep in the shopping cart! 7/21/07-- The family headed to the fair again today. We were meeting up with Rami and Crew, but were never able to find them. Jake had his first funnel cake, a pony ride, and his mommy won him a red dog. Later, he and Jessica rode the "Kite Flyer" and had a great time. 7/18/07-- Today we went to Yorba Linda to go swimming with the gang. Jake fell asleep in the car on the way over, so after an hour long nap, it was time to get into the pool. Jacob and Rami really liked swimming around. Jake had water wings and a pool noodle and was doing a really good job kicking himself across the pool to his Daddy. After the boys were tired of swimming, they played with Gigi the dog and ate blueberries. The family stayed the night, but Jake had a hard time settling in and woke up several times. 7/17/07-- Today was a very full day. Jacob played outside all morning, went for a stroller ride to compus in the afternoon, and then went to the Orange County Fair in the evening. Jake saw cows and horses and sheep and pigs and goats and rabbits and... He loved it! There were drummers doing sidewalk performances and lots of animals walking around. Later that evening, the family went to see Weird Al. Jacob liked all the lights, but succumbed to exhaustion during "Amish Paradise." 7/14/07-- Jacob has been doing great. His vocabulary and sentence structure improves daily. His favorite things to do are put together puzzles and ride his tricycle. He can now count to 29, though he always skips 15. He's working on singing "ABC's" and "If You're Happy and You Know It." 7/10/07-- Jake had his first ever sleep over tonight. He stayed with his best bud, Rami, so his parents could go to a movie. The boys had a great time and got to stay up really late. The next morning the boys played and ate breakfast and later went to playgroup together. 7/4/07-- Jacob had the best day of his life! The day was filled with all the things that Jacob loves-- doughnuts, helicopters, horses, marching bands, cars... The family went to Huntington Beach for their Fourth celebration and had a great time. First was the parade, then lunch, then we met up with Rami's family and headed to the beach. The boys played in the sand and later went into the water. Jake ate chips and a hot dog and drank more juice than he's had in his whole life. The evening concluded with fireworks, though Jake didn't quite make it through the whole show. He opted, instead, to fall asleep in his mother's arms. 6/30/07-- Today, without prompting, Jacob said, "I love you, Mommy." When Kris came back into the room, Jessica reported this sweet statement with pride. Kris said, "Awww, Jake! I love you too," to which Jacob replied, "Airplane." 6/29/07-- Jacob put his shoes on by himself today. He's been using the pedals on his tricycle nearly the whole day today, so hopefully, his next pair of shoes will last a little longer! Jake's vocabulary and sentence construction improves daily. He likes to play, "Where's Jacob go? They he is!" 6/27/07-- After nearly three hours in a waiting room, Jake's parents reward his patience with a trip to the zoo. Jake played on the playground and saw all of the monkeys. 6/26/07-- Bye bye Grandma! Jake spends the rest of the day playing outside with Rami. Rami's parents come over for dinner and Rami and Jacob both fall asleep on the couch. 6/23/07-- Jacob is getting really good at sentences. He talks all the time about things that he sees as we pass in the stroller. "Ooh! Look Mommy! See car? A red car!" (Typing gives no justice to his inflection...) Last week he put two of his triangular-shaped blocks together at their bases and said, "Kite!" He uses rectanges to make trains. He knows every upper-case letter of the alphabet, but is still working on the lower-case. He knows how to spell "Jacob" and "Ella" and "zoo" and usually "Mommy" and "Daddy." 6/20/07-- Today Jacob visited the aquarium. His favorite things were the eels, the sea otters, dart frogs, and petting the rays. Jake had so much fun that he fell asleep on the way home. 6/17/07-- Happy Father's Day! Jacob gave his daddy some root beer and black cherry soda. Then he let his daddy go out to play some chess (for some reason, this is much easier to do without Jacob...) 6/16/07-- Today the Jacob went to the farmer's market so his daddy could grade papers. He ate lots of different fruits and even saw his pal, Rami, with his mommy and grandparents. Congrats to Rami's mommy for graduating!!! 6/14/07-- Grandma's here! Jacob and Grandma have been having lots of fun playing outside and coloring. Grandma brought Jacob a t-shirt from Nashville with guitars on it. 6/12/07-- Jacob was able to climb to the top of the playground at the Chick-fil-A today. He's quite the little mountain goat...! 6/10/07-- Time to go home! After stopping by to see Klif and Jordan one more time, Jacob heads home on the airplane-- luckily, he sat behind the bulkhead and his little legs couldn't reach the seat in front of him. There were no incidents on the plane and, in fact, Jacob really had fun pretending to eat the pictures in his books.
