1-28-08 I made the trip to Sioux Falls on Saturday. It made me feel alot better to get to see everyone. Dad and I rode back on Saturday night so he could repack and gather some work things. Everything is going well, but there is a long rode of recovery mentally and phyically. Everyone was doing well but exhausted from the whole week. Sunday we ate brunch at Grandma Rosie's. Jane was in for the weekend so we got to see her and eat with Dad before he left again.
Chloe is doing great too! She is now into Ring Around the Rosie not 1 time but 10. She is getting so tall and still in love with her Miss Spider cartoons. We have been making lots of goodies in her kitchen and teaching her how to sweep with her broom. Too cute!
Chloe update!!! 1/25/08 She is doing wonderful. Last night we did her first painting experience. Paint with water. She had a blast, kinda messy but fun to see her do something new. She has been sleeping and eating well. Talking lots! I am thinking that she is still having some reflux problems, but need to talk with the Dr to see what she thinks. Josh is battling 10 plantars warts, that I have to help with morning and night. One is so bad that it created a callus over it that needs to filed down everynight. Pray that they will go away soon, he is so tierd of them. He is busy gearing up for 2 races this weekend. Hopefully he will do good, the weather is in his favor.
Update 1/25/08 AM Today has been a good day so far. Mark has been moved back to a room just around the corner from Alicia. They were also able to get him into a wheelchair, and into Alicia's room where they got to spend some much needed time together. Alicia is battling some Asthma problems but both are looking great today! Good news, with some much need rest that they are finally getting. There is some soft tissue damage in Alicia's shoulder that therapy is working on for her. Plans are to go there Sat. Thanks to all that have taken the time to send them messages, they will aprreciate it. The weather is nice so go out and enjoy!!!
Update 1/24/08 12Noon Good news that Mark will be moved from the ICU today. Drs are still thinking it could be an effect of the pain meds he is on.??? I am going to try to get there on Saturday to see everyone, weather permitting? Dad and Ronda met with a grief counsler, and the next step is for Nathan to see Mark and Alicia and then off to do something fun! Funeral plans are not yet made, as the counselor thinks that it would be best to wait and get Mark and Alicia healthy.
1/24/08 AM Last night was a rough night for Mark, he crashed around 11 but is now in ICU this morning being monitored. They are thinking that his heart is bruised from the accident. Dad has asked that everyone take a minute to leave a message for the Spindler's on the hopital website. Go to:

Update 1/23/08 PM Dad called to let us know that Alicia and Mark were able to walk to each others rooms and back. Alicia is getting some much needed rest, and Mark is starting to as well. Mark is having some breathing issues which might be related to the meds. They tried a CPap machine but he couldn't do that. Things are looking up on the staff side of things. The ER nurses that helped them on Monday came with a cast of Ian's hand and a wonderful book about being in Heaven as a child. Dad said it made him cry for 1/2 hour. Things are still on a day-2-day basis, but progress is being made. Dad's brother Dave was in Sioux Falls for work and was able to spend some time with Dad, away from the hospital. I found this poem on a Caring Bridge site that I have been following and thought I would share it with Mark and Alicia, and all theit family. Here it is:
Hugs From Heaven
by Charlotte Anselmo
When you feel a gentle breeze
Caress you when you sigh
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From a loved one way up high.
If a soft and tender raindrop
Lands upon your nose
They've added a small kiss
As fragile as a rose.
If a song you hear fills you
With a feeling of sweet love
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From someone special up above.
If you awaken in the morning
To a bluebird's chirping song
It's music sent from Heaven
To cheer you all day long.
If tiny little
snowflakes
Land
upon your face
It's a hug sent from Heaven
Trimmed with Angel lace.
So keep the joy in your heart
If you're lonely my dear friend
Hugs that are sent from Heaven
A broken heart will mend.
Update 1/23/08 AM No surgery at this time for Alicia. Maybe in the future, but therapy for her and Mark as of now. She will be having some more scans on her stomach, to make sure all is ok. It is bothering her, but maybe from the morphine. They moved them into the same room now. The family is very frustrated with the staff, but they seem to be getting more help today. More info later... I posted a pic in the picture section that is I do believe is their vechicle from the Keloland news. Very sad...
