Update from Dad 1-22-08 11:00am  Alicia's Dr was called out to to an Emergency Surgery so they will know more this afternoon.  She has some numbness in her neck and there is talk of some surgery.  Nothing final until the Dr comes back to talk with the family.  Otherwise she is wanting to see Nathan really bad.  But for know they are keeping her laying still, until they know more.  Will update this afternoon.

Update from Dad 1/21/08 9:00pm  Dad called to inform us that they were able to donate Ian's heart and corneas.  As I was talking to him, a team of specialists from MN were on their way to get them.  They did try to save his liver to, but they said it was pretty damaged to use as a donor liver.  It is so wonderful that something good can come out of this.  Mark is doing well.  Alicia is very uncomfortable.  She was a little warm today, but they think it might be the morphine she is on.  They both have had CTScans and will hopefully know more on Tuesday morning.  Everyone is holding up as well as they can, but very exhausted.  Now it is just a wait and see for Mark and Alicia.  Will update as I get more information on Tuesday.

5-year-old boy killed in morning crash
Published: January 21, 2008

The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the family involved in an accident this morning, which claimed the life of one of the family's young sons.

Ian Spindler, 5, was killed when the 2006 Dodge Ram pickup driven east by his father Mark, rolled into the median of Interstate 90 near mile-marker 402, said Trooper Isaac Kurtz.

"(The father) said he had the cruise control set at 57 mph, lost control, and went into the median where it rolled," he said.

Mark Spindler was driving the pickup, his wife, Alicia, was in the passenger seat. The couple's 2-year-old son Nathan was sitting behind his mother, Kurtz said. Those three family members were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Mark Spindler did have to be extricated from the truck, Kurtz said.

KELOLAND UPDATE: 01/21/2008 - 10:46 AM  Icy Roads Cause Crashes, One Child Dead A child was killed in an accident this morning, while traveling in a Dodge pickup with three other people. It happened on I-90 in Sioux Falls, just east of I-229.  Crews had to cut the truck in order to rescue an adult.  Authorities aren't naming the victim until family is notified.  Some crews tell us they've been going from one accident to the next because of the snow-covered and icy roads.

Update from Dad 3:30 1/21/08  Dad just called to update.  They made it to Sioux Falls on some very nasty roads.  They were able to see Mark, Alecia, Nathan and Ian.  Dr's are saying that they believe the post from the cab of the truck struck through Ian's head, and believe he had died on the sceen.  Nathan doesn't have any injuries and is already released from the hospital.  He is currently staying with family members.  Mark and Alicia are in a room being treated for cracked vertabrees (??spelling??).  At this time the family is trying to donate some of Ian's organs.  Dad is asking for lots of prayers.  Alecia was awake the whole time and was able to get herself and Nathan out of the truck, Mark had to be cut out from recue workers.  Please pray that their family can cope with this horrible thing God has put forth onto them.  Ian was 5 years old and ready to start Kindgergarten in the Fall.

1-7-08 Hope everyone got a chance to be outside this weekend.   We were too busy to get Chloe bundled up, hoping that the weather will be nice next weekend, and nothing comes up.   Life has been crazy since before Christmas.   Saturday morning I worked and Sunday I spent the afternoon with Grandma Rosie trying to get some stuff done for her.   We started some Thank You notes, but she has way too many.   Our water heater decided to break last night, so we are working on fixing that today.   I had to make a trip to mom and John's last night to get a shower in.   Chloe is doing very well.  I think she is working on some more teeth, her diapers are dirty and her but is red (just like any other time she has had teeth come in).   I got a new camera this weekend so I have taken lots of pictures that I need to download.   I just need Chloe to look at the camera and smile now.   She is at a horrible stage where she won't look at it at all.   Take care.

1/2/08 Sorry for the lack of updates since Christmas.   As most of you know we lost Grandpa Geno on 12/27/07.   We feel blessed that he isn't suffering any more.   We ALL met at Glen Oaks on 12-22-07 and had a Christmas party for him.   He was doing wonderful.   Most of us knew it would be the last.   Everyone made it home.   He took a turn after everyone left.   He passed on when he knew Grandma was in good hands, he went peacefully.   They way we all wanted him to go.   His service was beautiful.   Fred Anderson sang some beautiful music and our family spoke of great memories of him.   The American Legion had a Military salute at the gravesite, and each person of our family got to take a empty shell. from the gun salute. He was a great man, and we will miss him, but he is no longer suffering and is a better place.   Please pray for our family ad we begin the healing process.   Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, cards, etc.

I finally got a chance to get the pictures up from Christmas and will be typing what they are ASAP.

Chloe is doing wonderful.   BUSY BUSY BUSY.   She has been so much fun playing in her kitchen and her baby dolls.   Josh and I are hoping for warmer weather so we can take her sledding again.

The nasty cold has almost made it way through our house.   Sounds like everyone has either gotten it or has it.   Hope you are healthy and we will update soon.   Thanks
