1/13/06 Had our Dr. apt today. Everything is going well. The heartbeat was at 146-148 today and I have lost the only pound I have gained since becoming pregnant. We also got in for our ultrasound today. That is one of the neatest things to see. Baby had the hiccups and was very active. The heartbeat was down to 138 (it was less active than with the Dr.). We go back on February 17th for a checkup and a glucose test. Not looking forward to that at all. But it is all for the good of the baby. I wish that I could post the ultrasound picture, but I was told not to scan or copy it (it will be ruined). I will try to take a photo of it with a good digital camera and see if that will work. We will keep you all updated!

19 week update! This is an important time for baby's sensory development. The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that the baby can even hear us talking.
I am still feeling tired, especially after a long day at work or if I don't get some down time during the day. We are looking forward to Friday so we can setup our Ultrasound at the Doctors. Josh and I had Christmas this weekend with Dad, Ronda, Ahren and Leah in Mound. We had a great time!
I finally know that the baby is moving. Very different feeling. Enjoying my quite time still before it will be kicking all night long and I will not be able to sleep through the night. We will update after our appointment on Friday.
1/4/06 18 Week Update! A waxy substance called vernix is now being excreted and covering the baby's skin. It is thought that the lanugo, or downy hair, that covers the baby helps keep vernix in place so that it can protect the skin as baby floats in amniotic fluid. Brain and spinal cord development continue.
We are looking forward to our next appointment on the 13th. At that time we will be able to schedule our Ultrasound. I am so excited to see what the baby looks like.
12/27/05 We had a wonderful Christmas! We still have one more celebration to go on January 7th and then we are done. I can't wait until next year when our little one will be around. Kids make Christmas even more special. Joshua dressed up as Santa for our niece Paige (2 years old) on Saturday. It was adorable. When the pictures are developed I will leave one on the site. She just loved opening her presents (and everyone elses too)! Baby Jensen got spoiled by Grandma Connie who had a stocking filled with clothes and toys. Also, baby got a beautiful crocheted blanket from Great Grandma Shirley and his/her first ornament for our tree.
17 Week Update! The baby's skeleton should be changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the unbilical cord - his/her lifeline to the placenta - should be growing stronger and thicker.
12/21/05 16 Week Update! I am waiting for the experience of feeling baby for the first time. It should be anytime now. Baby should also be forming eyebrows and eyelashes.
Hope everyone and their family have a
Merry
Christmas!!!
