July 16 - Ok...so it has been a long time since the last post...sorry.  A lot of growing has occurred in the last couple months.  Syrin is about 23 weeks old now (almost 6 months old).  He is recently eating real food (peas, carrots, prunes, rice, etc) and of course, loving it.  He can somewhat sit up on his own...if no one distracts him too much :) and he has started to roll over on his own.  So, he is getting there!  He is growing still...he fits pretty comfortably in 9 month old clothes...he does not fit in 6 month old clothes and he can sometimes squeeze into 6-9 month old clothes...yeah, he is big.  He is also talking (baby babble) a lot more and trying to reach out and grab everything in sight.   He has a great grasp when he grabs a hold of things too!  His personality is getting stronger...he laughs all the time, which we love!  Unfortunately, he does not like to sleep at night still.  There are reasons of which we are aware, but I just like to think that night time is when he does his best thinking!

Until next time...enjoy the pictures!

Mike

Hello everyone! It is time for another baby update (it has been 4 weeks since the last one).  So, Syrin is 10 weeks old now and he has bravely been through two rounds of shots (ouch!).  The more interesting thing is that he is now at 15lbs 2 oz....yep, another 4 weeks...another 2 lbs!!  I am not a doctor (though I play one on TV), but I think this kid is going to eat us out of house and home when he gets older!  Anywho - Syrin is a happy baby.  When he is not eating he likes to read, play games and take his stoller out on the town.  He has a great smile and a cute little laugh already!  Sure, he gets mad and cries a lot...but that is usually when he is not getting the food or attention that he so urgently craves!  Oh, and he loves baths!  If you want to sooth this fussy baby, just add water (or food)...did I mention that he likes to eat?  So, that is all for now.  Thanks for reading...take care!

Ok - so as of yesterday (March 23, 2009) Syrin is 6 weeks old.  I am not sure what that usually means with babies and their growth, but this guy is at 13 lbs (that is 4lbs and 5oz greater than his birth weight)!  He has the normal chubby cheeks and thighs, but he is really not fat...just getting bigger!  He has also grown an additional 2.5 inches in length...and his legs are getting longer too (zow!)...I kid.

Anyway, he is starting to sleep much better at night; we have seen a few 5 and 6 hour sessions, so that is good.  Otherwise he is still wide-eyed and wonderous while awake.  He has also gotten a great handle on holding his head up.  He started at 2 weeks trying to keep that head up and it has been a normal occurance for a couple weeks now (very minimal bobbing).  Oh, and he is starting to work on moving himself with his legs...he has a long way to go, but he is kicking and pushing a bit while laying on his stomach which is very cool!  I guess the last update is that he is starting to coo and comment when you talk to him...he will even smile if you make fun noises!  It is very cool to see his personality start to develop.

We will keep the updates coming as we have the time and opportunity!

Cheers!

Well hello there everyone!   Can you believe that it has been 8 months since I set this website up?  Yeah...time flies!   Well, Teal is 9.25 months prego (that is 37 weeks to those of you who are in the "baby-know").  Yeah, that's right...I am learning the lingo and getting ready to walk the walk.  Yes, I am nervous as all get out!   I know that this is a natural thing and the Teal has been there / done that before, but OMG my life is about to take a loop-de-lu and I am not sure if I am going to get butterflies, pee my pants or throw up!   Either was there is excitement about to be had by all.  Okay, so we went to the doctor's office Thursday (ran into Troy and Mere...cool!)...anyways, we got the whole ultrasound checkup and found out that baby boy is already 7.33 pounds; that is good news for a daddy...but come to find out it is not so good news to mommy; not that she is not happy that her baby is healthy and growing well...but more so that she may have to prepare for a watermelon instead of a cantaloupe (A Dios Mios)!   So, here we are...closing in to the BIG DAY with only a few more days or weeks to go.  Hopefully I have enough battery life and media storage space to capture all that I anticipate wanting to capture (heck, I hope I remember to pull a camera out)!  Wish us luck ya'll...next post hopefully we will have a new addition to the family!

Cheers,

Mike

We'll be rolling into town on March 23, 9:30pm. Sure we'll be missing all the "excitement" but we'll get there in time for all the fun! :-)

Well, we finally got our 4D ultrasound done..check out the pictures!  Yep, Teal is at 32 weeks...that is like 8 months in baby world.  We can expect to see a little one in the next 6 - 8 weeks...that is coming soooo fast!  It is crazy you know.  We are still getting the last few odds and ends that we "think" we will need.  Ha!  Thank ALL of you who came to our baby shower...it was AMAZING and we are soooo glad to have so many wonderful friends!  If you ever want to come baby sit...well, we won't push it.  So, we are still singing...Teal is shorter of breath, but still sounds like an angel!  I hope that she will be able to sing sooner than later after the baby comes...we need to get him ready for American Idol...if it is still around (Paula)!  Okay, so there is not too much to say...we hope that you will all come and visit us in the hospital when Syrin gets here.  Love you!

Happy Halloween!!!   Well, it has been a while since this page has been updated hasn't it?   Not too much has happened since the last post (baby-wise)...well except that the baby is growing more and more.  You notice that I have learned not to say that Teal is growing...she stays the same...you must learn that it is the BABY that is growing!   Anyways, the baby's room is complete...well, unless I want to add surround sound or something J .  We have the crib, the changing table, the dresser, a great play pen and stroller...we just need to add a baby!  I can say that all of our friends have been soooo sweet and helpful (thank you!!!).  Our little guy is going to grow up surrounded by love and I can't wait!  Did I tell you all that he is growing like a weed already...yep, the doc said that he was already about 3 days ahead of schedule (what's up wit that?)!  So, I am thinking that I will need to start getting back in shape so that I can deal with this little, ahem, big baby!  Sorry Teal...you are right, he could still be small...but he will still be fierce!   So that is it for now...we are almost at 7 months and all is well.  I will try to get some pictures up in the next few days!

Well, the first big day finally arrived...when we find out the gender of the baby.  It was a long day, between waiting to get off work and then waiting an hour in the Doctor's office waiting room!  But, the wait was worth it; about 30 minutes into the appointment, the nurse came in and fired up that ultra-sound machine...oh, you could feel the anticipation in the air!  First we got to see the head and the heart beat and the skeletal structure...very cool...but then we got a glipse between the legs, and you couldn't miss that sign...it was a BOY!  Well that is all Teal heard for the next several minutes.  We are both very happy with the results...now if someone can just help us choose a name!

August 18, 2008 - Gather around ya'll, it's time for yet another update.  Yes, times they are a changin'...from thinking about building a bigger deck, to thinking about where the baby will sleep.  Not just where, actually, but on what, in what color, at what price and for how long!   Shopping for baby furniture is an interesting endeavor to say the least.   The big focus now is how to distribute the human capital throughout the house.  The easy solution is to place the baby into the room further from the Master Suite...as to put distance between myself and the shrill sounds of a hungry baby...and to re-locate Dillon.  Ah, Dillon...where to put him?   Well, there was a brief discussion (lasted about 2 minutes) about me giving up my office for Dillon...but I reminded all parties that Dillon's monthly visits did not merit my giving up my work space.  Then there was the thought of putting in the same room as Krista...but something about GA law came into the conversation and squashed that thought.  So, the decision was made to relocate Dillon to the basement...all male-teens love basement living, right?   It is mysterious and awe-inspiring...or so I have been told.  Therefore, the project of the year is now building out a bedroom in the basement for Dillon.  Hopefully we can get this done before too long...and until then, we do have a couple very comfortable couches!   Thanks for reading!

August 11, 2008 - Ok now it is my turn to add my comments.
Now that I am over the first trimester hump (sickness, headaches, tired beyond control....ladies with kids you might know what I'm talking about), I am starting to feel better about being pregnant.  Just this weekend I have felt like getting up in the morning is an ok thing.  However, as Michael will tell you my hormones are most definitely not in check!  I am doing my best to keep my cool though.  I have found that luckily I am not craving sweets...nope it's salty for me.  I am very glad because if it were sweets I would already be 20 lbs heavier (based on the pickles and olives I've been eating...hehehe).  Anyway, I wanted to share in the good news into the second trimester and to let everyone know that we are so blessed to have such wonderful friends in our lives.  We love you all.
Teal

July 29, 2008 - Teal and I went in for our 12 week visit to the baby doctor.  We got to devulge our full history (geneology) to the doctors to ensure that all precautions are taken during the pregnancy and to determine what tests needed to be run.  Basically, we discovered that it would require 6 vials of blood to be drawn from Teal to conduct all of the "necessary" tests!  Well, luckly for us they had crackers on-hand for the already weakened mommy.

Best part of the 4.5 hour doctor visit was, of course, the ultra sound.  It is amazing to me that a baby, 12 weeks into term, can already be seen in full human form (pretty much).  You can clearly see the head and legs and arms and...well you know that body parts don't you?  But, alas, it is still a bit early to see the one body part that we are waiting to see :).  Anyway; our baby was having fun already...dancing around for the camera and already sucking his / her thumb!  I guess bad habits can start very early!  It was very cool to see the baby moving about so care free...I mean the organs are still forming and he / she cannot even open his / her eyes yet!  It was very cool.  I wish I had remembered my camcorder...I could have made a great music video to that dancing baby.

Well, I hope this update has been useful.  We hope to know the gender of the baby next visit (September).  Until then...keep us in your prayers and thoughts, please!

Cheers,

Mike

In the beginning...by Mike...

It was about 10:00am on a Sunday morning in May of 2008 when Teal climbed back into bed and woke me up with the strangest comment.  "We have two pink lines" she said with a smile.  Just to remind you all, I was half-asleep at this time and of coure wondering if this was real or a dream when I boldly responded..."what?".  She abbreviated her comment a bit when she responded..."two pink lines", as she proudly displayed the pregnancy test stick in a ray from the morning sunlight.

Through clouded eyes I could barely make out that there were any lines on that device...yet alone two pink ones.  I had to get a better look at that stick; I mean, this sort of information is very serious.  So, I arose from bed and, clutching the stcik that held the answer to the future course of my life, I walked into the bathroom and turned on the lights.  I splashed water on my face to ensure a clear gaze and looked again at the stick.

There they were...two little pink lines that would forever change our lives.  Teal was going to have our baby and I was never going to sleep again.  Well, not that dramatic, but things were about to get much different for us.  Yes, I smiled and yes I was happy that morning.  It was something that we had planned for...but I guess I never thought it would happen so quikly.  Beware all you skeptics...it could happen to you!  Well, there we were; reflecting on what this meant to us at that moment.  What do we need now, where will he /she sleep, what will it be, what about college, what will we do about child care...the questions flowed...but the resolve stayed the same...we were very happy that we were going to have a baby.  We are very happy.  We hope you will continue to share in our happiness.

-Mike
