20.September.2008 Our 20-week ultrasound was yesterday. The doctor said everything looked great. And yes, we are expecting another girl! Poor Marcus is outnumbered! He's very excited though. Afterall, girls can hunt & fish, too! I've been feeling a lot more activity from the baby in the last couple weeks. It's been a little harder to feel discreet movements due to the location of my placenta, though.
Audrey is still too young to grasp any of this. She's busy learning her body parts, colors, animals, and animal noises. She's getting really good at them, too! She's picking up German almost as fast, but with only one person to teach her that language it's just taking a little longer. She's a good little eater, but we're working on getting her to eat more than just mac n' cheese and chicken. What can I say, she's picky-pants like me!
4.September.2008 Since the last post, we took a little trip to Park City, Utah. We visited Olympic Park, the Olympic Ski Museum, and the little shops in the downtown area. It was a little cool in the mornings, but a nice break from the norm. Although the views were nice, we found it to be a little too posh for us. Example: I ordered a salad and they literally cut a head of lettuce in fourths, and put one fourth on my plate still in a wedge. Then they added 3 grape tomatoes, some homemade bacon bits and a side of dressing. That cost us $11. Are you kidding me?? I should have had the $15 burger!! We contemplated buying into a time share, but decided to wait. I'd rather have one in Hawaii : )! It was a long trip back home, but Audrey entertained us by blowing raspberries in the back seat. See the new video.
We took Audrey to the Western Idaho Fair. She was too little to remember it last year. She loved people-watching! We took her on a couple rides and introduced her to fair food. She really liked watching the "Splash Dogs" competition. It's amazing how far some of those dogs can jump just to fetch a floaty!
For the next update, we will have the new baby pictures and........reveal the gender!!!! Check back!
11.AUGUST.2008 On Saturday we went to Matt's Surprise Birthday party at the park. It was Audrey's first time at a park. She loved the swing. She wasn't as thrilled with the slide. It was one of those plastic, static-y slides that don't actual let you slide. You just have to scoot your way down. What happened to the metal slides they made when I was a kid? You know, the kind that would get hot and burn your butt?? At least those actually let you slide!
We've been trying to get Audrey to eat with utensils....unsuccessfully. However, she grabbed my fork and had no problem helping herself to my chocolate cake, as you can tell by the pictures. I tried to help her get the cake on the fork, but I couldn't pry it out of her chubby little hands. I guess chocolate was the motivation she needed to eat with a fork.
Last week she discovered Barney; much to my shagrin! We don't watch a lot of TV, but when she saw Barney singing.....her little tooshie started bee-boppin' along. It was fun to watch. Enjoy the new videos!
26.July.2008 A lot has happened since my last update. We had another doctor's appt and heard the heartbeat. The doctor said it sounded good & strong. I've tried to get a picture to add the this page, but baby's always in the wrong position. I can get the head or the rump, but not both in the same photo. Although I can't feel it yet, baby wiggles around a lot and is bending it's legs and arms. I'm reluctant to drag out my maternity clothes. Didn't I just put those away???
Audrey had a bug for about a week. She had vomiting and explosive diarrhea. Poor baby! The worst was when she blew out in her travel system stroller. It was up her shirt, down her shorts, and she was sitting in a big puddle of poo....liquid poo. And of course, we weren't at home...we were at church. I just about lost my lunch! Thank goodness she's back to her happy, playful self.
She says her name now, although it comes out "Aud-dee". My mom discovered this is what she was saying during a game of peek-a-boo. This week she tried pop rocks and loved them. I had to cut her off before she ate the whole packet!
In other news, our house went on the market this weekend. Our realtor even put it on craigslist. Hopefully it will sell soon because we have our eye on a house that is just now being built and is in the foundation stage. So exciting! We'll keep you posted.
28. June. 2008 As you can tell by the new ticker....we are expecting baby #2 this winter. We let Audrey spill the beans to family. We went to both grandparent's houses to visit and had Audrey dressed in her new pink shirt. It took them all about 15 minutes to figure it out.
I had my first ultrasound appointment yesterday. I'll be posting that picture next time. The doctor said everything looked good. Marcus is glad that the birth won't interfere with hunting season. However, I'm not too excited about having Christmas pictures taken when I'm about ready to pop. I've been pretty sick with this pregnancy, but the doctor gave me a prescription for some anti-nausea meds. It's what they give to chemo patients, so here's hoping I can keep my food down better!
It's finally in the 90's here, so we set up Audrey's pool. She LOVES playing in the water. She kept trying to put her face in the water and drink. I think she's been watching the dog! Also, when the pool was filling, she stuck her hand in front of the hose and got us all wet. She just thought she was so funny......
19.June.2008 Since the last update, it has gotten warm enough to try out Audrey's new ride. She thought she was big stuff wheeling around the driveway. Papa puts her in it when she hangs out with him in the garage. She loves being outside.
Now that she is walking around so well, she is getting into all kinds of mischief. I added a couple pics of her favorite things to get into....laundry and the dishwasher!
We decided it was time to trim her bangs because they were getting into her eyes. Everytime I positioned her hair between my fingers and brought the scissors up, she would look up at the scissors and her fine hair would slip through my fingers. It took Marcus and I a few attempts to make it somewhat even! We think she looks like such a big girl when she has bangs. I can't bring myself to cut the back, though! She has the cutest little curls in back. I hope they stay that way!
29. MAY 2008 Audrey's new obsession is laundry. She digs through the basket and puts on what she can. She almost gets it right! The other day, Marcus was in the computer room and he heard her coming down the hall. She was wearing his red shirt and had somehow got her arms and head in the correct holes, tag in back, but inside out. She came waddling down the hall holding her arms up over her head, as not to trip on the bottom of the shirt. She looked like E.T.! Hence, the new nickname!
The yoga pictures are also something new. She just stays in that position and plays with my phone or whatever else is within reach. Where do they come up with such things??
27. May. 2008
Smarter than we thought! In the last week, Audrey has made it very apparent to us that she is watching everything we do and mimicking us. For example, we keep a bottle of hand sanitizer on her changing table. Lately, she taps the pump twice on top (not hard enough, though) and then rubs her little chubby hands together. That's our little germ-a-phobe!
Yesterday, she did the funniest thing. We were in her nursery and she spied something she wanted on the changing table shelf. She grabbed it and took off down the hall. This was my clue that she knew she probably shouldn't have whatever was in her hand. So I followed her into the living room and said, "Audrey....what'd you steal you little thief, you?" She turned towards me, her hands behind her back and the most innocent look on her face. Then, she stretched out her arm and said something that sounded an awful lot like "just this". She opened her hand to reveal a tube of neosporin.
She gave it to me like she was intending on it the whole time. We had a good laugh! I had no idea they could be so clever this early. I have a feeling life is about to get very interesting!
19. May. 2008 Audrey's birthday party was really fun. As expected, she didn't care about tasting the cake. She just wanted to squish it between her fingers. She opened a lot of presents sure to keep her busy for awhile!!
She has learned to walk, although she walks like a drunk on payday! I call her my little E.T. She waddles around the house just like him! We're sure it won't be long before she learns to balance better. In the last month she has survived a cold, a double ear infection and today was diagnosed with pharyngitis. The poor kid can't catch a break. We thought we wouldn't have to deal with her being sick much because she's not in daycare. Not so much.
We've discovered that Audrey likes it when you lightly run your fingers up and down her arms or legs. She will hold her little arm or leg up for you to "tickle". If you're not paying attention, she will grab your hand and "show" you what she wants done. It's really cute.
The next pictures we will post are of her newest game. Playing dress-up!
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY AUDREY! We can't believe it's been a year since she came into our lives. She has grown SO much and has really developed a personality all her own. We feel so blessed to have her! She brings such joy to us and everyone else she meets. We couldn't have asked for a more precious gift from God!
Tomorrow we will celebrate with friends and family. We're having a BBQ with a "butterflies and flowers" theme. Also, we've put together a short slide show of our favorite pictures and videos from the last year. We can't wait to watch her experience her first party. Especially her first cake! She loves to take her finger foods and squeeze them until they gush out of her fist. Can't wait to see what she does with cake and frosting! Check back, as we will be adding birthday pictures soon!
26. April. 2008 I can't believe it's been a month since the last update! A lot has happened. Audrey is working on tooth #4. She walked 5 steps on 22 Apr (great B'day present!). She's getting the hang of walking, but would rather crawl and get there faster. She's becoming quite the little ham. She'll do something she thinks is funny and then pause for a reaction. If people laugh, she laughs and does it again.
The "turtle" picture was all her idea. She was playing with a giftbag and when I turned around, it was on her back like a backpack. I don't know how she did it, but she couldn't get it off. It was the funniest looking thing.
Most of the pictures are from our Arizona vacation this last week. We vistited family and friends in Kingman and the Phoenix area. The Bewleys, Kings, Werners, Von der Ahes, Culls, Tinneys, and Daltons all got to meet Audrey for the first time. We had so much fun seeing everyone again! While we were there, Connor had his 1st birthday, Mollie had her first softball game, we saw the Grand Canyon & Hoover Dam, and had lots of food & fun with family. She's a great little traveler. Time to get her that passport.......
26. March. 2008 Happy Easter! Audrey had a good first Easter. She got some new books (English/German of course!), some toys, Horton hatches the egg stuff, and some cute new clothes. The poor urchin simply has nothing to wear.... She sure enjoys hanging out with the family and making everyone laugh. We spent most of the day at the church, but had a nice lunch at The Patton's before heading back to church for a special evening service.
We've been so intent on watching her lower gums, waiting for that 2nd tooth to pop through, that we didn't even notice she has a top tooth now. She tilted her head back to laugh and I noticed something white. Who knew?? She hasn't really been cranky at all. She just chews on everything and drools a lot. She's our little trooper! She won't let me put a toothbrush in her mouth, but I'll hand it to her while I change her diaper and she'll chew on it. Also, it helps me keep her still long enough to change her. If I could change a tire as fast as I change a diaper, I'd be working the Pit Crew for NASCAR! Whew!
18. March. 2008 So, Audrey survived her first cold. Poor thing hates having her nose/face wiped, but she's over it now.
She's constantly saying "hi" to people as she waves; strangers in the store, the cats, whoever will listen! She's getting good at "mama" and we've even heard a few "papa"s. We're teaching her german, so it may take her awhile to figure it all out. She points to the cat (Katze) and can't get more than the first sound out, but we know what she means.
As you can see from the new pics, our little monkey likes frozen yogurt. If we sit down with some in our hand, we have about 2 seconds before she's on us. Since she can't ask for it, she just takes our hand and pulls it to her mouth herself. She probably got a taste for it before she was born. "We" craved it all the time!
As for her stair-climbing skills, we think they may come in handy. Afterall, who wants to run upstairs just to get a pair of socks?? We can just send her.......
6. March.2008 We can't believe Audrey will be 1 in just 9 short weeks! Time flew! Audrey is getting around pretty good now. With the help of furniture and her toys, she's able to walk around, now. It won't be long! She waves and says a dainty little "hi" now. We thought that maybe it was just our parental imaginations, but her sitter and both grandmas confirmed that she says "hi" very clearly.
We're not sure if she has a cold or if she's just working on more teeth, but her nose has been so stuffy/runny for the last few days. The poor thing must feel miserable, but she keeps on smiling and laughing anyway. She's just been such a sweet baby. We couldn't be more blessed!
15.February.2008 Audrey had her 9-month check-up today. She weighs 18 lbs 6 oz. She's in the 45th percentile for both weight and height. Her doctor said she is just perfect; and that there is typically a decrease in weight gain by age 9 mo. Also, she is constantly on the go (and so are we)! Her anemia test was negative and her 1 tooth looks good. Now if she just had a tattoo she could move to Kingman!
Her new fascination is watching the tub fill at bath time. We couldn't resist the tooshie pictures. We laughed so hard watching her little dimply butt, thunder thighs and saddle bags jiggle as she bounced with delight. I took her diaper off a little too early and she peed on the floor! It could've been worse, though!
As you can see by the picture, she has learned to climb the stairs. Her doctor said it won't be long before she is taking her first steps. There's just no stopping her....
On a sad note, Audrey lost her great-grandma this last week. We posted a picture from their first visit this last summer. We miss her greatly, but are comforted to know she is with the Lord.
29. January. 2008 So, here are Audrey's 8-month pictures. The first 4 can't be enlarged without distortion, but if you go to the "pictures" page the raw photos are larger. Some of the pictures didn't turn out so well (because the photographer was new and a moron), so we went back a week later to have them retaken. The pictures listed first are the new ones. She did great during that photo session. She was laughing (big belly laughs!) throughout the entire session. We had a wonderful photographer and that made a big difference. Enjoy!
20. January. 2008 As promised, here are the photos from Christmas Eve. As you can see, she was more interested in the paper and tags than in the actual present! Someday that will change! Enjoy!
17. January. 2008 Today Audrey weighed in at 18 lbs, 6 oz. She had a big week when it comes to milestones. She has started sitting herself up. Then, a couple days later, she pulled herself up to stand. Boy, did she think she was big stuff! She squealed with delight. She isn't steady enough to let go of her support yet, but that doesn't mean she's not getting into everything! We've had to baby-proof the coffe table and end tables, as well as lower her crib matress. This morning she was trying to give the baby in the mirror kisses. I tried to get a picture of it, but once she saw the camera, all she wanted to do was gnaw on it. We're expecting her first tooth any time now. She has a white bump on her lower gums and has been biting on anything she gets ahold of.
We had a Kiddie Kandids appt today for her "9 month" pictures. Despite being hungry and having the hiccups, she did rather well. She never fussed, but she did make the photographer work for some of the pictures. We'll be posting those in the near future!
3. January. 2008 Audrey had a great first Christmas. She was more interested in chewing on the clothing tags and boxes than anything else. She got a lot of cute oufits and toys. She's been busy trying to figure out the toys. They'll keep her entertained for months to come!
She's really getting good at crawling. We have to watch her closely because she's getting so fast. A couple of times we've caught her with one of our shoes....eeewww! We're just hoping it's a long time before she discovers "kitty box crunchies".
This last week we experienced the worst diaper blow-out ever! Of course, we were at a store when our ears and noses told us there was a problem. So, I took her into a dressing room with a diaper and package of wipes. I quickly realized that wasn't going to be good enough. I had to call for Marcus, "Back up, I need back up!". Luckily Marcus found extra clothes in the diaper bag. I didn't even know where to start. Oddly, the only thing clean on her was her back. The poo was up to her chest, out the sides up to her armpits, down the inside of both arms and all over the front and sides of her diaper. There wasn't even a clean place on her diaper for me to open it. Her belly button was also full until she did a stomach crunch.....It was so gross all I could do was laugh. She got a bath as soon as we got home! I wish I had had my camera on me!
I've posted a few Christmas pics, but I will be adding more soon. Marcus' mom took some cute ones of her on Christmas Eve which I'll post as soon as I can. Check back soon!
22 December 2007: Audrey's first Christmas is almost here. My how time flies. We took some pictures of her in front of our tree. The rocking chair is a family heirloom (over 120 years old!) She is so good during pictures. We also let her open up her first present from Connor. I think she was more interested in the paper and bow than the outfit, though.
Just in the last week, she started clapping. It's so cute to watch her get excited about this new noise! Because she's getting so mobile, we have a hard time keeping an eye on her. Last weekend I was doing my hair and she had had enough of her bouncer. So, I put her on the floor. One minute she was there, the next minute I couldn't find her. I could hear her, but it wasn't until I saw the bedskirt move that I realized where she had gone. Somehow she had rolled under the bed and couldn't find her way out because it was suddenly dark under there. Unfortunately, the only camera I had on hand was my phone. I'll see what I can do about getting those pics on this site.
We have plans for Christmas Eve and Christmas with both our families. We'll be sure to take lots of photos! Merry Christmas to all!!!!
