Finally, some encouraging news.  The doc says I'm 60% effaced and starting to dialate.  I still could go past my due date, but at least something is happening.  Also, I got a new job today.  Upon my return from maternity leave, I'll be working 30hrs a week at the St. Luke's outpatient imaging center.   No weekends, no call, no holidays....no brainer!  It'll be a big change, but what a blessing!

We just finished at the doctor's office.  I've gained one whole  pound.  I would've thought more judging by the edema in my legs.  Let me tell ya, "cankles" are not a good look on me!  I'm glad that, along with other things, will go back to normal after she arrives.  The doctor also checked my cervix....still closed.  It's a little early yet, but you can't blame me for hoping something was happening.

I'm going shopping at the baby store this weekend with "the grandmas".  There's still a few things we need before she comes and I doubt I'll feel like shopping as my due date draws nearer.  Pretty pathetic when a woman says she doesn't feel like shopping.......

We had the church baby shower this weekend.  It was really nice.  Plenty of ooh's and ahh's as I opened all kinds of cute girly outfits.  Now the little stinker even has more shoes than me!   We'll find out at our next appt whether anything is happening labor-wise.  I wouldn't mind if she were a week or two early, but some are hoping I'll hold out until Mother's Day or their respective birthday.  Thanks, but no. No, but thanks!  All I know is that if I have to be in labor on Mother's Day, I better be getting an extra  present!  I mean, besides a baby!

The family baby shower was so nice!  I can't believe how many clothes she has already!  She'll be one well-dressed (not to mention spoiled) kid thanks to family!  Everyone decorated onesies for her, too....so cute!

Just a note about my last doctor's visit:  I'm a little anemic.  They gave me a list of high-iron foods to eat (lima beans, spinach, brussel sprouts, etc).  Is it any wonder?  Who eats THAT?

Marcus and I started our childbirth prep classes.  I thought they'd be scary, but the more I learn, the more I think "I can do this".  Knowledge is power!

This doctor appt went better than I thought.  I just downed the orange crap they told me to drink and let them suck out some blood like a good girl.  I didn't even pass out on them!  I've gained 19 pounds so far this pregnancy.  I would've guessed more with the way I've been eating.  It's normal to lick your ice cream bowl clean, right?  I don't know why the TCBY people look at me so funny.  It should be a compliment!  As for the nursery, I've finished the quilt, valance, and bedskirt.  I just have the bumper and basket liners to finish.  11 weeks to go......

90 days left??  Where's it going to fit?  I'm still having a hard time figuring out where my belly ends.  I can't stand as close to the sink, washer/dryer, etc.  Last week we figured out that a car seat won't work in my beloved truck.  I cried!  Tonight we bought a 4runner.  I think it'll be the perfect mom-mobile.  There's room for at least a couple more kids.........

My last MD appt went well.  Since my 20-week check up I've gained 5lbs and a bump I can no longer suck in. I'm sure my TCBY cravings have nothing to do with it.....I now feel her moving all the time, especially when I try to sleep.  The little stinker even kicked the doctor twice when he was listening to her heartbeat.  I hope this isn't indicative of what's in store for us!

So, I've decided to sew my own nursery bedding and decor.  I guess I needed something to stress about in the coming months.  Besides, there weren't any bedding sets out there that I just fell in love with.  This way, I can pick my own fabrics to match the room I've already painted lilac.  I'm starting to sound like a domestic diva! Move over Martha!

Baby's been very active lately, but I think that will change as she runs out of room.  We should have another baby update and more belly photos soon.

Our last appt and ultrasound went well.  She's growing like crazy and her movements are so strong that Marcus can see my belly move from across the room.  We think she likes football.  She kicked like crazy during the Fiesta Bowl game. Now that Christmas is past, we're researching baby gear and girl names. I'll also post a belly pic soon.  Having a waistline is SO overrated!

Exciting news....I've been feeling her move since this weekend.  I wasn't sure at first whether it was baby or a "rumble in the Bronx", but I'm pretty sure now.  She's an active little stinker.  No news from my last appt.  The doc was an hour late, so all we did was listen to heartbeat. I've been feeling good lately and have accepted the fact that my normal clothes no longer fit. It is nice not to have to worry about sucking it in anymore......

Now that I'm far enough along, we peeked and found out we're expecting a girl!  Marcus looked a bit shocked, but smiled when I told him they make pink camo.  He's so excited and couldn't wait to tell his family on Thanksgiving.  From what we can tell at this stage, everything looks good.  We truely have a lot to be thankful for this year!
