The Chair Story

The little rocking chair belong to my mommy, one day cousin Ashley came over and she loved the rocking chair so much that she cried we she had to leave, so grandma let her take it to her house. After many many years Ashleys mommy Marla sent the chair to grandma. Now this chair is my chair. This chair is over 32 years old, we thanked Marla for taking good care of the chair all this years and for returning it to us. This meant a lot to my mommy. Thank you Marla...

Its been a busy summer for RJ. We started the summer by going to Six Flags Fiesta Texas with the Lefevres in May. We spent a couple of weekends out on the lake in June, and then we spent 4th of July in Marfa. We got to see Marsi and cousin Xylon before they headed back to New Jersey, we attended Uncle Glenn and Aunt Angelas wedding in Midland before our big trip to the East Coast. We flew to Baltimore, Maryland and then drove to Hershey Pennsylviana. We tourned the Hershey factory, you know where they make the candy. We also got to sample a lot of the candy. They showed us how they make the candy, this was very interesting. We spent a day in State College, PA, this is were Penn State is located at. We toured the campus, the sports museum and even made it to the local arts festival and ate the real philly cheese steak sandwich, mmmm. We weren't able to tour the field because it had been raining, that was the sad part of our trip. All the way from Texas to Penn State and we couldn't get to see the field, because of the rain. Well, we did get to see all there trophys they have won over the years. The next day we spent it in Lancaster, Bird-in-Hand, and Intercourse PA. This was very interesting because these places were all Omish Communities. We were able to see the omish hard at work building barns and homes, we also visited a real farmers market. We spent our last two days in Washington DC. We did lots of walking. We visited the National Archives Building, this is were we saw the Bill of Rights, The Magna Carta and the Constitution of the United States. We saw the United States Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and of course the White House. While we were in DC we called our friend Preston, who we hadn't seen since 2003. We had dinner with him and his wife at the ESPN Zone, and guess who was there doing a promotion, Allen Iverson, of course we weren't able to get close up, but he was there. Grandma and Grandpa Vasquez throw RJ a birhtday party in Marfa, were all my cousins attended. It was nice to see everyone, and thanks again everyone for the gifts. We then headed back home for four days and back on the road again to Dallas to see Granny Mary. We meet our newest baby in the family, Grettis Jerron Hodge. We went to the Fort Worth Zoo with the Lefevres and had a good time. We then came to San Antonio to see Grandma, Grandpa,Janie, Uncle John and Janey. We went to Six Flags again and we even went to the Cowboys training camp. So as you can see we had a very busy summer. Now we are home getting some rest before school starts.

It's been awhile since I've been on this. RJ is crawling everywhere, he walks holding on to things, he took about 2 steps with Uncle Beard. He likes for you to chase him. He is eating just about everything. He goes to daycare on somedays and sometimes to work with dad. He has his four bottom teeth, and his two top fangs. We went to six flags, but he was still to little to ride any of the rides, but he got to meet pepe le pew and porky pig, he was afraid of them. We've been to the beach a couple of times and he doesn't like the waves, but he enjoyed the lake. Uncle John brought a frog for him to look at, and that didn't scare him. He wanted to hold it even crawled after it. Not much else, just enjoying our summer.

I know it has been awhile since the last update. We spent Thanksgiving here in Ben Bolt with Grandma and Grandpa Vasquez, Uncle John, and Granny Mary. Then on December 15th RJ and I flew to Midland and spent the weekend in Lubbock. RJ got to met many cousins, including the newest one, Nadia, my cousin Joninas baby. Then we spent Christmas in Marfa. Rod drove down to Marfa after school let out in Ben Bolt. RJ received many gifts from family and friends, but the one that cracked us up the most was the Laughing Elmo. On the first try, it scared RJ, but after that he just kind of looks at it with a confused stare. It was a very nice christmas. We came back home on the 28th of December. We didn't do much for New Years Eve, because I ended up sick with the stomach bug. On January 10th RJ spent his first day with a babysitter, we call her Nana. She also takes care of little Geoffrey. I cried after I left him there, he didn't seem to even care, he was too busy noticing the older girls. She takes care of two 3 year olds. He likes them older, I guess. Since then, RJ has just blown me away. He keeps me very busy during the day. On the days I don't have class RJ sleeps til about 9:30 am, he eats his cereral with bananas, he loves to eat carrots and squash. Anything that is green, he really doesn't like, such as, green beans and peas. He likes to scream, he likes to stand and jump up and down (I have many bruises on my legs). He has been sitting on his own since around the beginning of December. Well, we will be baptising him on Feb. 3 in San Antonio. My brother and Nadine will be the godparents. I hope everyone had a happy new year. Until the next story, everybody be careful and god bless.

RJ and I went to Marfa for a week. He went to his first halloween costume contest, even though he didn't win he was so cute in his costume. We only went trick or treating to two houses and then he knocked out. I guess he had too much fun at the contest. It was nice to go home and see our cousins and grandma and grandpa. Well I hope everyone got RJ's halloween picture. If you didn't please let me know. Two more weeks and grandma, grandpa and granny with be here for thanksgiving. RJ is growing so fast. He weighs 18lbs and is 25" long. He likes to stand up and not sit. He enjoys the football and volleyball games we go to. At the games he just sits on my knee or with all the high school girls and really pays attention to the games. He is sleeping all night. He goes to bed around 10:30 and doesn't wake up until around 7:30 am and then back to sleep for another 2 to 3 hours. He really doesn't take naps only 3 or 4 thirty minute power naps. Rod comes home everyday for lunch just to see and play with him. He is just so active, he is keeping us really busy. Well better go, he is getting tired of sitting in his high chair. Still not eating rice, I guess maybe next month. Til next time, enjoy the new pictures.

Before I get started I want to Thank Joann Garcia and Brenda Silva for provided the sandwich spread for the baby shower in Marfa. I know I haven't been on here in a long time. We've been busy traveling the State of Texas. Lets see..We went to Marfa one week after RJ was born, then on the we traveled to Dallas. We were home for about one week. While daddy went to coaching school in Austin we went and stayed in San Antonio with the Benjamins. We came home for about 2 weeks and packed up again and went to Marfa for about 4 weeks. We finally are home. While in Marfa my mom threw us a meet and greet baby shower. We received many gifts. Great Aunt Lupe gave us a stuffed lion and that is RJ's favorite. He can play with Zimba for hours. Thats what we named the lion, Zimba. RJ got his shots this week, and he hardly cried. He was a big boy about it. He is 24 inches long and weighs a whooping 15 pounds. He is baby talking alot and loves to smile. He goes to bed around 11:30 and sleeps until 6:00 am drinks a bottle and then back to bed for another 3 hours. He does pretty good. He loves to be outside, but since it had rained here and is still raining here, there are so many mosquitos that we cannot be outside at all. We tried to go to the football game, but as soon as that sun went down the man eaters came out and we came home. Well, since we are back home I'll try to be better about keeping the stories updated.

He has arrived. RJ was a week early. I started with contractions on Thursday night, went to the hospital Friday morning. They told me to go home until my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart, well at about 11pm on Friday night my contractions were 3-6 minutes. We arrived at the hospital and was told that I was getting admitted. Rod called my parents, who were in San Antonio with my brother. John had just graduated from tech school at Lackland Air Force Base around 3pm that day. My parents arrived at the hospital at about 3:30 am. My water finally broke around 9 am, and my contractions were 1 minute apart, but I was only dilated to a 4. Around 11:30 the doctor came and told me that everytime I would have a contraction the babies heart rate would drop, so that I was going to have a c-section. It all happened so fast, and when I heard RJ's first cries, I also cried. I couldn't believe he was 8 lbs. Well, a week has gone by and we are in Marfa. I just had to come home. I hadn't been home since late January, and I was already feeling home sick. We'll be here for a week and a half and then we are off to Dallas so that RJ can meet his granny Mary and the Dallas clan. I'll be posting pictures on a weekly basis, so come back and see us. Thanks for all the messages, phone calls, and prayers.

I recently received a gift certifiate from my boss and co-workers for a complete package on a 3D sonogram. I had this done today........... and it was amazing. I had a 30 minute session and I didn't want it to end.  I wanted to just lie there and watch him moving, sucking on the back of his hand, yawning and swallowing. It was just amazing to see him. He has some big cheeks and his daddys nose. I've posted a couple of the 3D sonogram pictures, tell me what you all think. Thanks, to my co-workers and boss, I will never forget this gift.....

Well, we had our first sonogram on December 27th, 2005 and my due date is July 9th, 2006. I think I'm having a boy and Rod thinks its a girl, we should find out what the sex is sometime in February or March. I'll be posting the sonogram pictures soon. In two of the pictures it looks like he is sucking his fingers. (Sorry, I say he because I think it is a boy).

I only found out this morning that I am pregnant and I already have so many questions. When I called Rod at work this morning to tell him, he was really quite for awhile. I think we, along with everyone else, are still in shock. I have my first appointment this Tuesday, November 8 at 3pm. Till then keep us in your prayers.
