~ Stories ~
6/10/08 I'm 31 weeks along tomorrow. The time is going by so far. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Maddilyn, especially Brighton. We babysat the neighbors baby girl the other week and Brighton was so excited to have a baby in the house. He thought she was his baby sister, Maddi. He loved helping to change her diaper and feed her. He was right by my side giving me everything I needed to take care of her. I can't wait to see how he'll be when Maddilyn finally gets here. She's moving around a lot!! So far everything the doctor's say everything looks good. We're leaving for the beach on Saturday and coming back on Thursday. Friday, 6/20, is when I go back to the doctor's for a non-stress test and ultrasound. I'm down to the last 9 weeks! I'm praying that I get the full 9 weeks before Maddi gets here. I'd like her to be full term with no surprises :-) Besides, I have a nursery to put together still. We've been waiting until after vacation and waiting for Mike to finish up his 3rd year of school. Take a look at some of our recent pics. Stay tuned for more pics from the beach and another update.
4/22/08 I'm 24 weeks along this week and as you may have noticed, we're having A GIRL! We're so excited and blessed to have a boy and now a girl. Brighton is going to be a terrific big brother. We finally agreed on a name- Maddilyn Jaine. It was a grueling month or more to finally come up with a name that Mike and I agreed on. In the end, we've chosen the name that Mike wanted to name his daughter when we thought Brighton was a girl. Brighton has already started calling her Maddi Bum-bum since every stuffed animal he owns is named Bum-bum. I'm sure our baby girl will take on the nickname Maddi though. We're so excited and can't wait to meet her. My pregnancy is going much better since the first 12 weeks are over. Nothing exciting to report really. I felt her first kick on April 7. I feel her moving around in the evenings but I have to remember to pay attention. I'm usually so busy with Brighton and work that I forget to stop and think about her for awhile. Brighton is doing well. He had his second dentist appointment today. He was a good big boy. He hopped up in the chair with his big old Rat from Ratatouille, that he just had to bring so the dentist could look at his teeth too. The dentist said that Brighton has beautiful teeth and gums and he'll attempt his first cleaning in 6 months. So far so good with the dentist! And, I forgot to share that Brighton had hernia surgery on April 1 and recovered from that like a trooper. He was out of commission for less than a day. Weeks later and all he has is a tiny scar. What a big boy! Brighton is slowing learning his numbers. He can count to 5. He recognizes some letters in the alphabet. He LOVES to sing songs and, he stil LOVES his fruits and veggies. We've been working on potty training. He even wore underway for a couple hours 1 day put peed in them twice. So, we're backing off a little so not to discourage him. We're also taking Brighton to the circus in May. Lastly, Mike is doing well with school. He is finishing up his last 2 weeks in Ob/gyn in Reading, PA and will finish up his third year with Family Medicine at York. That's our latest update for now.
1/25/08 Wow, it's been awhile since an update. Brighton is doing great! He had a wonderful Christmas. By now, I'm sure everyone knows we are expecting Baby #2 this summer. We're all excited, including Brighton! We had the first ultrasound yesterday. Everything looks great. Today, I'm 11 weeks and 2 days along. The baby is expected around August 13. March 13 is my second ultrasound. We're hoping to find out then if it's a girl or boy! We can't wait! Brighton was present at the ultrasound and was so excited to see the baby. He talks about the baby all the time. Today he said, while I was changing his diaper,..."mama, baby, poopy, no........mama, baby, peepee, I" which translates to...."Mom, you change the baby's poopy diaper and I'll change the baby's peepee diaper". He just says stuff like that out of the blue. He's going to be a great big brother!!! We'll Brighton deserves to have his pictures updated on this website so, I'll try to get that done this weekend. I'm so far behind due to my laziness from the first trimester. I'm slowly starting to feel normal again. Look for another update soon...promise!

10/14/07 We took Brighton on his first visit to the zoo. We went to the Philadelphia Zoo today. Brighton had a lot of fun. He got a chance to see monkeys, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, snakes...you name it! He also got to pet a chicken and some goats. We met my friend Josh there and he took Brighton's 2 year old pictures. Brighton was very cooperative. I'm sure Josh got some great shots. I can't wait to see them.
Brighton is talking a lot now, fianlly. He is repeating everything we say and also attempting words on his own. He continues to love reading books and storytime before bed....a 30 minute minimum every night! His favorite book is Hand Hand Finger Thumb by Dr. Seuss. Brighton loves to chime in on the "dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum" part. It's so cute. He also decided to start wearing his new Christmas pjs already so, when he has them on we have to sing Jingle Bells. He's really good at singing "jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way". It almost sounds like it...he trys real hard! OH, and you have to take a look at our new budding artist's wall murale....YES, that's right!...unbeknownst to us, Brighton has decided to draw straight lines of pink and blue chalk on the wall in his toy room. He must have known he shouldn't do this because he drew them on the wall under his desk. He had to crawl under the desk and lay on his belly to draw and, you have to crawl under to see them. He is very good at drawing lines and circles! We don't know when Brighton did this but he just showed us this morning (I don't have the heart to tell Mike that tonight Brighton went back under his desk and drew some more squiggly lines in black ink!!!). We laughed when he told us about it! Not sure how I feel about the ink now so I'm not going to think about it for awhile and I'm not going to tell Mike until he comes home for good from Philly, which is next week...YEAH!
Check out the pics!

9/18/07 Brighton is 2 years old! Can you believe it? I can't. I look at him in amazement every day. I still clearly remember the days of being pregnant with him and the very day he was born. When Brighton was a newborn, I remember thinking: he'll grow up fast, I have to remember what he looks like, how he smells, what he does. Two years have gone by fast. I'm afraid that time will never slow down. Today I still appreciate every day I'm with him, even if I'm tired, aggrevated and frustrated. Every little thing he does makes me smile and I think it's always worthwhile sharing it with someone. Like, the other day we were reading a Dr. Seuss book, you know the one that goes Big C little c what begins with C...Camel on the ceiling C...c...C. Well, Brighton took the book from my hand and flipped it upside down so that the camel was right side up. That just blew my mind!! I wanted to tell everyone. It's a great feeling when you start seeing your baby's mind at work! Or like tonight, I took Brighton to buy new shoes at the same store we take him to every time he needs new shoes. We go to the childrens section and Brighton finds his shoes that he is currently wearing on the wall and wants them again. He kept holding the shoe down at his feet saying, "I....I...I...I". He knew they were his shoes. He's smart. He's so much smarter than just the couple stories I'm sharing but I'd be up all night if I shared with you every thing that amazes me about him. This thing called parenting truly affects your heart. I still cry when Brighton cries...if he crys because he is hurt, or scared, or embarrassed...I cry to! It just happened again tonight. We were going to bake pre-packaged Halloween cookies. I put the cookie tray on the kitchen island and told Brighton that he could help make cookies...I would break the cookies apart, hand them to him, and he could put them on the tray. He was so excited for cookies that I think he forgot my instructions. I handed him the piece of cookie dough and his hand took the cookie and went straight for his mouth. I startled him by saying NO, we have to bake them first. He never even looked up at me. He pulled the cookies away from his mouth, his smile turned to a frown and he started sobbing. Then, I started crying. He was embarrassed. I was embarrassed too. I thought that in the beginning, when I cried when Brighton cried or when I cried because Brighton smiled, rolled over pooped etc., it was from the hormones...you know the "baby blues". Here I am 2 years later with the same emotions. So, this is what children do to you- they melt your heart!!
Brighton's 2 year Pediatrician's visit
Brighton saw Dr. Jed today. Jed Miller was Mike's college roommate his first year at Univ of Pittsburgh. Earlier in the year we discovered that he is now a pediatriciain in the practice that Brighton goes to. We're so excited to have Dr. Jed as Brighton's pediatrician. Dr. Jed says Brighton looks healthy and is so strong and smart. Here are his stats:
Weight: 30lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 36 1/2 inches (90-95th percentile)
Well, this may be one of my last posts. I haven't totally decided if I'll end this website soon or not. I feel like Brighton has grown a lot and I've had a wonderful opportunity to share this with everyone but I think the time has come where I may stop posting. At least until there is another reason to post. In the meantime, Brighton keeps me so busy that it's hard to dedicate time anymore. I'll make up my mind about it soon. Thanks for reading our website!
8/8/07 Well, so much for cracking down :-) Brighton is his own little person now. He knows what he likes and what he doesn't. He is getting into lots of stuff! And, growing like a weed. I need to schedule him for his 2 year old doctor's visit and dentist visit. It will be interesting to see what they say about our little toddler. Brighton is doing well. He is officially done with napping. He sleeps through the night in his toddler bed. He usually sleeps 11 hours on the dot every night. The hard part is getting him to bed at a decent time. Our best strategy now is to read to him while he is sleepy and laying in his bed or let him fall asleep to cartoons or taking a drive in the car. The latter is the last resort however, it usually saves me like an hour at night if I just hurry up and drive him for about 15 minutes. I know it's a bad habit but I'm kinda stuck. I'm at a loss for trying to keep a two year old toddler in a bed. I'm just glad I got him out of my bed and sleeping through the night in his. Well, I'm sure I'll have more to report after Brighton's second birthday. Can you believe it is only 1 month away!?!?! I cannot believe it. Enjoy the pictures of our trip to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA. Look for future pics of our second family vacation to Ocean City, MD and of Brighton's birthday party in September.

7/6/07 OK, it's getting harder and harder to keep this site updated with a toddler running around! Alot has happened since my last entry. To sum it up:
On June 4th we tried DayCare- it didn't work
On June 6th (Brighton's 21 month b-day) Brighton decided to fore go his naptime and bedtime rituals- now he takes no naps and stays up until he passes out
On June 10 we converted his crib to a toddler bed- he won't stay in it at all!
On June 17th we went on our first family vacation to the OuterBanks with friends- even more reason not to sleep at night (AND, can you believe I didn't even have one alcoholic drink....not by choice....I couldn't find time to relax with terrible two running around)
On June 25th we put the crib back together and put on a Crib Tent- now Brighton won't even sleep in his bedroom at all!
So, here we go...paybacks are hell!
The month of June and the beginning of July have been challenging. Lots of changes are happening, between trying and not suceeding with daycare, changing to a toddler bed, family vacation, Mike going back to school, and me traveling to Dallas for a 4 day business trip. I'm letting Brighton get away with a lot of stuff right now. As soon as I'm back from my trip on July 11th, I'm going to start implementing some new rules. First, Brighton and I are going to crack down on a new nap and bedtime ritual....beginning with a re-introduction to a big boy bed. We're also going to seriously work on some potty training (of course, at his own pace).
Anyway, there should be lots of updates in the near future. In the meantime, enjoy some of our family vacation pictures from Duck, NC.
PS- Brighton is doing some great things too....like trying to say new words every day, eating lots of good veggies and fruit, drinking lots of water, spending a lot of time playing outside, enjoying imaginative play......and we're letting him watch cartoons too and he loves them....like Mickey Mouse Club, Dora, Diego, Blues, Handy Manny, and Wonder Pets. I guess it could be worse :-)
5/19/07 It's been awhile since our last update. Time seems to go by fast now-a-days. Brighton is getting so big. He is soon 21 months old. He is about 29 lbs now and just starting to fit into size 3T. Can you believe it!! Last month he visited the aquarium with his buddy Ethan. And, this month he had a playdate at the park with his friends Carter and Eli and he also visited his buddy Koen too. Brighton finished up his second session of swim lessons in April and took a couple Toddler Time classes at the library in May. He will start day care in a couple weeks! He loves to play outside, especially riding in his car that we push and mowing the lawn and weeding. Brighton is still a stunt man, climbing up on furniture and jumping off or testing his balance by standing on toys. He is a good listener and a good eater. He absolutely loves fruits and vegetables and meat. Actually, he'll eat anything! He has his weakness too, like, lollipops, smarties, laffy taffy, huggies, chocolate milk or a sip of ma-ma's tea. We try to keep these things at a minimum but he always seems to get his way somehow. Brighton is still a great sleeper, sleeping from 8pm until 8:30am. He is great out in public. Just tonight the hostess said, he was the best toddler she has ever had in her restaurant. He helped celebrate my mom's 50th birthday tonight and he was an excellent baby at the restaurant. We can't say enough about how great Brighton has been!! We continue to keep our figures crossed that he stays a good kid. Brighton also loves going to Church on Sundays and going off by himself to Nursery School. Well, stay tuned for an update on Brighton's first day at daycare on June 4 and also for an update on our family vacation to the Outerbanks on June 17.
3/16/07 We met with my old co-worker and friend along with his wife and son at Boyd's Bear Country last Saturday. We figured it would be a good place for the boys to run around. Brighton enjoyed seeing Ethan even though they didn't play too much together. They seemed to have fun at lunch, where Ethan introduced Brighton to Thomas the Train. Take a look at the cute pictures from our trip. In case you are wondering, Ethan is 9 months older than Brighton and they are both the same exact size! Brighton is a big boy! Speaking of which, Brighton is starting to repeat a lot more words that we say!! He is also peeing in his potty at night before he goes to bed. Of course, he is into everything!! Just ask us why we spent the night in the Pediatric Unit at York Hospital this past Tuesday :-) Fortunately, Brighton is just fine!! He is still a good boy. So far, he's not causing us too much trouble. A typical 18 month old I suppose. He's climbing on everything. He is still a good eater and sleeper. He loves watching Sesame Street and he especially likes The Count. Everytime The Count is on Brighton says "ah ah ah"...just like him. He likes to watch WonderPets too and Dora the Explorer. He doesn't get to watch tv too often. Brighton would rather be outside as much as he can and he still loves looking at and having us read books to him. Brighton has started his swim lessons again for the spring. He's been to 3 lessons so far and loves every minute of it. He can't wait to get there and when it's over, he can't wait to go back. He went under the water twice at his last lesson. I loves it!! He is a good learner. He is great at kicking his feet, blowing bubbles, splashing, and floating on his back and kicking his feet. He is now practicing on paddling and moving his arms. Still, his favorite part of swimming lessons is Humpty-Dumpty...where we sit him on the side of the pool, sing Humpty-Dumpty, and then he jumps into the water at us (and sometimes goes under). Well, we are off to visit friends tomorrow. Brighton will get a chance to see another little friend, Carter. Brighton is so excited. I told him about our trip tomorrow and he keep saying "Carter". I'm sure I'll have new pictures to post in a few days!

3/9/07
Brighton's 18 month doctor's visit:
Weight: 25lbs 14.8oz (50th percentile)
Height: 35 inches tall (97th percentile)

2/15/07 Happy Belated Valentine's Day to all! I can't believe it's already February. We've had a quiet start to 2007...just how we like it! There is not much going on with us. Of course Brighton is growing and learning so much. Most recently, he got a chance to experience snow! He doesn't seem to like it too much unless he has a shovel in his hands. I bundled him up for the snow storm we just had this week and took him outside. He just stood there, almost knee deep in the snow. I'm sure the reason he wasn't moving is because I had 4 layers of clothing on him underneath his snowsuit, winter coat, scarf, hat, mittens and boots. At one point, I laid him down in the snow to make a snow angel...yeah, he wasn't thrilled about that. He did cheer up when we gave him his snow shovel that we bought a month ago. He loves to shovel, sweep, vacuum, dust....anything where he can be a little helper!
Brighton is starting to say more words now. Here is an updated list of Brighton's vocabulary: ma-ma, da-da, pop-pop, down, done, up, brown, stove, bubble, doodle. He also can associate animal sounds with the right animal. He knows: moo (cow), baa (sheep), maa (goat), boc boc (chicken), cock a doodle do (rooster...believe it, he gets something out that sounds like that), buzz (bee). He knows all his body parts (even his butt...hee hee). He can identifiy all his clothes (shirt, pants, socks, shoes etc). I think there isn't anything he doesn't know. A true smarty pants just like his dad! Brighton loves playing in his toy room especially with his Elmo work bench, tools, cars, puzzles and stuffed animals. He absolutely loves looking at books and having books read to him. He falls asleep to da-da telling him the story of The Three Little Pigs or Jack in the Bean Stalk or ma-ma singing Hush Little Baby (our song), ABC, Twinkle Twinkle, Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush (one of his favorites), etc. Brighton is a good eater. He eats everything we eat now. He feeds himself at dinner for the most part. He loves grapes, bananas, salad (everything in a salad including lettuce, cucumbers and especially tomoatoes!), oatmeal, grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, any kind of meat...he is a good eater!! He likes goldfish crackers or dry cereal (cheerios or Trix) and Gerber fruit gummies for a snack and loves water and milk. Sometimes we give him juice. He really likes Cran-apple or Cran-grape (and thank goodness in times of need he LOVES prune juice). He is already wearing a size 5 diaper (Pampers) and he wears a 24 month or 2T in clothing and a size 7 shoe. I have a feeling by summer time, he'll be closer to a 3T...just depends on how tall he is by May or June. Well, I feel better now that I took the time to share with you some new things about Brighton. I know I'm probably missing a lot but I'll continue to update.
12/29/06 Well, we made it through Brighton's second Christmas. This Christmas was much different than last year. Unfortunately, Brighton was a little under the weather this holiday season. He got a fever the week before Christmas and had it for almost 4 days. We took him to the doctor's but we were told that it was just a cold and his symptoms would get worse before they got better. They did. He ended up with a runny nose, bad cough, and grumpy disposition. Here we are, almost a week after Christmas, and he's still trying to shake his cold. I think he's almost back to normal. On the bright side, Brighton did have his 15 month check up this month. He weighs 24 lbs 11 oz (55th percentile) and is 32 inches tall (75th percentile). He has twelve teeth. Eight in the front on the top and bottom and then two top molars and two bottom molars. He is such a healthy little toddler. Speaking of which, the terrible toddler phase is starting to kick in. Reassuringly, I've been reading that this does happen between 18 and 24 months so, I think we are right on schedule. Brighton has developed quite a temper when it comes to having to tell him no or when to take things from him. He especially gets mad when we have to take away the vacuum, screwdrivers or step stool, all of which he loves to play with and knows he is not allowed. I'm sure some of the frustration comes from him not being able to verbalize to us however, we do communicate clearly with him. He understands everything we say and we understand everything that he wants. We think soon he'll take off saying many words. As of now though, he says ma-ma and da-da clearly. We still think he can kind of say up, down, brown and most recently stove. I swore he said chocolate chip today but I'm trying not to jump the gun. He'll speak when he is good and ready. We are all looking forward to a healthy, happy New Year in 2007. It should be busy. My position at work is changing (again!) and Mike should soon know whether he can work in a cancer lab at Hershey until his 3rd year of med school starts back up in July. We plan on putting Brighton back into swimming lessons in March and a month long Toddler-time class at the library in April. Brighton has a new little cousin on my side of the family to play with, Jacob, who is 4 months old (along with JT - 8 and Andrew - 4). He also has a new cousin on Mike's side of the family, Keagan, who is exactly 1 month younger than Brighton. It will be so exciting for Brighton to have cousin the same age and living close to us. They'll have fun growing up together! We wish everyone a Happy New Year. More to come in 2007....
11/19/06 The Thanksgiving Holiday is right around the corner. We have so much to be thankful for again this year. Brighton is one year older and is such a healthy, happy little toddler! We are looking forward to spending time with our families this holiday. We know that Brighton will be so much fun this holiday season now that he is more active and understand almost everything we say. He is still learning a lot everyday. I forgot to mention last time that his mam-maw taught him how to give eskimo kisses! Brighton has also learned to spin in circles, climb on the couch and stick his finger in his nose!!! He thinks that last little trick is funny. Also, Brighton is officially off the bottle. A few weeks ago we stopped his night-time bottle. He doesn't miss it one bit. Wheww, that was easy! Well, I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. I'll do my best to update the site with holiday pictures and stories.
11/2/06 We are almost to the 14 month mark, although it seems like 24 months. Like I've said before, I think we are experiencing the terrible 2's one year early! Actually, I must admit that Brighton has been the sweetest, most easy going baby but, now that he is upright and walking, he is into everything. He loves to run and play. He loves to look at his picture books. He can pick out a lot of the animals and objects if you ask him. He knows all his body parts. He looks so funny when he grabs both ears and pulls them out when he shows you where his ears are. If he honks your nose, he has to honk all noses in the room. He can tell you that a bee says
buzz. He says
MOM-MOM a lot!
Just this week, Brighton has started to do somersaults on the floor! He loves to roll head over feet on the carpet. As you can see from the pictures, Brighton has had many firsts again. He just completed his first 6 week session of swimming lessons. He loves the water and can show you how to kick and swim and will also put his face in the water. During the last day of swim lessons we did take him under the water twice. He did not even shed a tear or scream! (I can't say the same for myself though. I shed several tears.) We were totally impressed. We all went to the pumpkin patch for the first time and Brighton also went trick-or-treating for the first time. We've had a busy couple months. We are very much looking forward to the holidays that are rapidly approaching. You can bet there will be tons of pictures coming again soon.
10/17/06 Brighton is 13 months old now! Sorry I haven't put any new pictures on yet. 13 month olds are very good at hiding things! Apparently Brighton is hiding my camera cord so I can't download any pictures. We've been searching the house high and low and cannot find it anywhere. Tonight Brighton and I were on a mission searching everywhere. He ran around after me with his hands up in the air as if "he didn't know where he put it"!! He was by myside and searching every room with me. I honestly think he understands what I was looking for and he couldn't find it either. Hopefully soon I'll be able to update the pictures. Since Brighton's birthday he has gotten his first illness (a fever for two days) and is taking swim lessons. His last swim lesson is this Sunday coming up. Brighton can splash, kick his feet and move his arms. He actually puts it all together in the water too (of course we don't let go of him). I think at his last lesson we are going to take him under the water. Most of the babies in his class go underwater but I think I'm more afraid of doing it than he will be. Well, this is a short update. I'm going to work harder at finding that cord so I can get new pictures. I have pictures of swim lessons, the pumpkin patch and soon...Halloween!! Brighton is going to be a dalmation (and Jeff Gorder....for a short time to make grammy happy!!).
9/7/06 Thanks to everyone who shared in Brighton's first birthday party on Saturday, Sept. 2. We had a great time. Again, we celebrated his birthday yesterday with a cupcake. I think Brighton has had enough sugar to last a lifetime! Fortunately for me, he didn't go too crazy on the firetruck cake I made him. He stayed pretty clean. Believe it or not, the tiny cupcake he had on his actual birthday turned into a complete disaster...cake and ice cream everywhere. Thanks Grammy!! :-) I hope you enjoy some of the birthday pictures. On another note, Brighton had his 1 year check up today. He weighs 23lbs 4oz (55th percentile) and is 31.5 inches long (90th percentile). He got three shots today as well. Brighton cried just a few tears. He was a brave big boy! He is on track and healthy. Well, with the exception that he is getting his first cold, I think. He has a runny nose. The first in his lifetime and he got it on his 1st birthday! Bummer...but I'm sure there will be many more to come. Brighton is becoming a great walker. He still runs into halls and knocks his big head around but he's getting better at it. Our next milestone is to switch to whole milk and eventually get rid of the bottle by 15 months. Check back often to hear about our progress and to see if we meet our goal.

9/6/06 HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIGHTON!!
8/24/06 Wow, it's been so long. It seems like it has been forever since I've updated the website. 2 months goes by so fast. And, believe it or not, so much has changed with Brighton as well. He is walking!!!! Brighton let go from the couch and took off across the room right before our very eyes when he was just 10 1/2 months old (so, that was in the middle of July). Now, at 11 1/2 months, he is walking all over the house. We took him to get fitted for shoes last week. He loves them. He loves to walk outside but still needs to hold one of our hands so he doesn't take a nasty fall to the ground. His little body likes to go faster than his feet so, he still falls often. While outside, Brighton loves to touch the trees, grass, rocks...anything and everything he can get his hands on. He doesn't put everything in his mouth that much anymore, like he use to...everything would go in his mouth. Now, it's just magazines. Every once in a while, he'll eat some magazine and we'll just wash it down with water :) He is so silly! He is getting to be a picky eater again. Basically, he doesn't want anything that we are not eating and it has to be real people food. He's not fooled by what's in the "adult- like" containers of mac-n-cheese made by Gerber. He knows that mom and dad wouldn't eat that so he isn't either. Brighton is a champ; still sleeping through the night. He goes to bed between 8-9pm and sleeps in until 8-9am. He is babbling a lot now. It sounds like he is having a conversation with you but he hasn't said any "real" words yet. He is getting good at pointing out where his head is, where our ears and noses are, he likes to brush his hair and his teeth, he likes to stick out his tongue, he can show you where his piggies are, he loves to clap his hands and dance.....we are SO lucky and we are having SO much fun with him. He goes to his 1 year doctor's appt on Sept. 7 and we are taking an infant swimming class with him in mid-Sept. Well, this is just a brief list of Brighton's accomplishments so far. I'll keep you posted and will hopefully find time real soon to add more pictures.
6/26/06 Well, we are still hanging in there. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with the website now that Brighton is more active. We took our first family vacation to Ocean City, Maryland at the beginning of June. It was a short vacation but plenty long for a 9 month old. Brighton got to put his feet in the ocean for the first time and feel the sand. He laughed at first but then didn't like it so much because the water was cold! He did really well in the car considering it took us 4 hours. Other than that, we have been enjoying our new house and being close to family and friends. Brighton loves spending time with his Grammy and Great-Nan everyday while I work and Mike does med school stuff. We had a chance to show Brighton off to my friend Pat, who I work with. That was a lot of fun. Check out the pictures! And, Brighton got invited to two birthday parties- our friend Calvin turned 4 years old and our friend Koen turned 1 year old. Let's see, Brighton is playing pat-a-cake, he can tell you where his head, mouth and piggies are, he gives hugs and kisses, and is almost ready to walk. He cruises all around and gets brave enough to let go once in awhile. We also found a really nice pediatrician for him, Pediatric Care of York. We had a wonderful experience with the doctor for Brighton's 9 month appointment. Brighton weighs 21 lbs. 12 oz. (74th percenitle), 30 1/2 in. long (95th percentile) and his head is off the charts :) (19 in.....98th percentile). He's going to be a smart one like his daddy! Thanks for checking for updates. I'll do my best to at least type every month.
5/31/06 As you probably know, Brighton has been keeping us very busy. So busy that I haven't had a chance to keep up with the website! We've all been doing great. Brighton is crawling and cruising all around! He is pulling himself up and moving along the furniture. Of course, he has been crawling for awhile now. We just got him one of those walkers that he can pull himself up on and walk behind. He's getting really good at walking with one of those. He's starting to eat some people food too! He is fruit chopped up (like bananas, pineapple and cantaloupe), he loves cottage cheese and he had some whole wheat toast this morning. He's such a big boy!! He's clapping his hands and smacking his lips together to call the kitty. And, apparently he is saying "up" now and lifts his arms up when he wants out of his high chair, stroller, exersaucer, walker....or any of the other contraptions that keep him safe and out of things :) I haven't heard him do this yet though. We are taking our first family vacation to Ocean City, MD. We are leaving on Sunday and coming back home on Tuesday. It will be a short trip but probably the perfect length for a 9 month old. Check back for more pictures of our vacation.
