5.30.08 - Well Patty headed back to work this week and it was an adjustment for us all.  Raegan has done WONDERFUL at her new sitter's - she is golden and so laid back.  Mommy had a hard first day crying all the way to work but it's gotten much better ;).  It was so hard to have to leave her.  All in all Raegan is smiling and cooing up a storm - we are approximating her weight as close to 11 - 11 1/2lbs.  She is growing so big!!  She is so much fun and interactive these days!!  As everyone says we will blink and she'll be saying her first words etc.  All our love to you all!!

5.2.08  Raegan had her 6 week checkup today - she is up to 8 lbs 13 oz - and 22" long - we are growing!!!!  Doctor said she had good head strength and all checked out great and sounded great!  She is smiling when you speak to her at times and she is starting to coo (sounds so adorable - tried to upload video of it from our video camera but first go at it did not work out all that well so we are still trying so everyone can hear/see her in action) She had to get 2 shots in each leg today - no fun - she was a trooper though and big sis was there to hold her hand.  Raegan has had a busy time - both she and Ashleigh were baptised on April 27, 2008.  Raegan attended her first Cubs game as well - Than and I celebrated our 1st anniversary by going to the Nationals / Cubs game.  We are settling into a good routine and pretty much have a schedule about 95% down packed.  Love to all!

4.17.08 Hard to believe but Raegan is 1 month old today!  We are still trying to adjust to a good routine - close to being there!  She is staying awake more often and so close to starting to coo - she is making more noise especially when she's not happy ;).  All in all we are enjoying her so much and enjoying watching all the changes she is going through on a daily basis - enjoy the new pictures!!!

3.31.07 - Raegan is now 2 weeks old - we are trying to settle into a routine after a hectic homecoming.  Patty had suffered an outbreak from an allergic reaction to either a medication or combination of from the hospital but is now doing much better.  We had our 2 week checkup at the doctors - she had dropped to a weight of 5 lbs 15 oz when we checked out of the hospital and we are now back up to 6lbs 9 ozs. and measuring at 20".  Almost back at our original birthweight which is great - she is doing very well.  Raegan is a wonderful baby and we are all so very blessed - Mom, Dad and big sister are as proud as can be of our new addition.  Thank you so much to everyone for all their love and support and congratulations at our new arrival.

2.25.08 - Went in for my 37 week check up - had an ultrasound to measure the fluids surrounding the baby - did not do growth this week and was told they will measure her growth again next week during another ultrasound.  All fluid looks good.  Had another non-stress test and everything was fine - heartrate is beating strong and she is moving lots.  The fun part is deciphering which body part she's poking up now is it a knee, a bottom side, an arm :)All in all a very uneventful checkup - no signs of labor being close at hand so we should be good for another week (We just want to make it past leap day and then she can come whenever she wants ;) )  Will go back in a week for another ultrasound and non-stress test.

2.18.08  Had a 36 week check up today.  I will start to go every week from here on out.  They did the non-stress test which went great - no stress on the baby - she was strong and moving lots.  They did an ultrasound and took lots of measurements - heartbeat was strong at 143 - with all the measurements if she was born today she would weigh in at 5lbs 7 oz.  The doctor is a little concerned with the weight but I think it is only because given the gestational diabetes they were expecting a higher weight as when one is diagnosed it is common that the baby will weigh a bit more than it should - and I've kept all of that under control very well.  The doctor said they will monitor her weight each week to make sure she is gaining enough.  I go back next Monday and they will do another ultrasound to check the weight and measurements again along with another non-stress test.

2.10.08 Enjoy the new pictures of the nursery - we've also added new pictures of Patty and of Ashleigh loving her sister to come - Ashleigh made a very special gift for her little sister at build a bear workshop - she picked it out and stuffed it with love - even added a sound card to it - whenever you press the hand of the bear it speaks and says "I love you" in Ashleigh's voice.  She is a proud big sister with an even bigger heart!!

2.4.08 - Today was our 34 week checkup.  Heartbeat was great and healthy beating at 143 bpm.  Nurse said she was a happy one according to the heartbeat ;) - I'm measuring right at 34 weeks which is good.  Continuing to manage the gestational diabetes with diet which is great for my doctors and me.  Everything is coming a long great!  I scheduled my next appointment for Feb. 18 in which I'll be 36 weeks and they will then begin to see me every week thereafter.  My 36 week visit will be a busy one because of having been diagnosed with the gestational diabetes they will perform an ultrasound (which we are very excited about one last chance to sneak a peak before the arrival :)  and they will also perform what's called a non-stress-test in which they will hook me up to a monitor and will monitor me for 20 minutes checking a laundry list of items but most importantly that the baby is moving around ok, heart beating ok, and that there are no signs of any contractions even the slightest - all in all to ensure there is no stress on the baby.  They will do this each week I visit until the big day arrives (minus the ultrasound).  Be on the lookout this week and next for some updated pictures of Patty and the nursery as we add some final touches.

1.21.08 - Had my 32 week check up today.   Good news is I am controlling the gestational diabetes with diet.  No shots or pills will be required as they first thought at the end of my first week monitoring myself - apparently my body just needed to level out due to the changes in diet etc.  But at the end of my second week my sugar levels are looking great says the Doctor! - Baby is doing well heartrate was at 149 and is moving LOTS!!!  Ashleigh felt her move (really move) for the first time and wouldn't have traded the look and excitement on her face for nothing!!  She is super excited about being a big sister and is being a huge help to Mom.  We posted a picture of the nursery in progress.  Many thanks to "Grandma" Beth and "Daddy" Than who helped do all the painting and many thanks to "Grampie" Rick for putting the wallpaper up for us.  Go back in two weeks (2/4) for my 34 week checkup!!  We are getting in the home stretch!!

1.10.08 - So my test results from the 3 hour glucose test came back abnormal which unfortunately means I am borderline with gestational diabetes (they say borderline b/c they are just barely above the normal ranges so that's better than being full blown sky high above normal).  The good news is that with a more controlled diet I will be able to keep it under control (we hope) and all will be well.  The baby is not showing any signs of growing larger than it need be so that is a good sign tool.  I will have to test myself 2 - 4 times a day and keep a log etc. of what my sugar count is and what I eat.  The doctor's assure me that all will be fine - it is something that goes away after the pregnancy and as long as I keep a controlled diet I'll be able to ensure my numbers stay below the normal range.

1.7.08 - Today we had our 30 week checkup!!  Heartbeat was in the upper 140's.  They measured my tummy and everything seems to be right on schedule.  Other than the few back aches and leg aches Mom and baby are doing great!!  The baby has really started to kick a bit more over the past week as well!  During my vist I also had to have the 3 hour glucose testing done as the one I previously did had to come back 139 and below and mine came in at 141.  The doctor does not seem alarmed by this at all more just a routine just to make sure I'm not experiencing the gestational diabetes that can sometimes occur.  I will continue to go back to the doctor every two weeks so our next appointment is scheduled on 1/21/08.  We will begin work on the nursery this coming weekend - we've chosen the theme entitled "Princess Dreams".  Can't wait to share pictures once it's completed.  Our love to you all!!

12.21.07 - We had our 28 week check up today - time is flying by.  All is well - today Patty had to drink the famous drink which helps to test for gestational diabetes - if we don't receive a phone call within a week we are safe to assume all is well (which we are 99% sure all is going to be great with no issues).  The heartbeat was beating strong at 145bpm.  Patty is carrying the little one quite low which puts some added pressure on her but otherwise is doing great.  After the holiday's we hope to finish up the nursery and will post pictures for everyone to see.  Patty goes back to the Dr. in 2 weeks (1/7).  March will be here before we know it!!!

11.27.07 - We had our 24 week check up today.  Baby's heartbeat is in the 140's and doing well.  Mom is doing well too - all vitals are healthy and normal.  Pretty easy visit today.  Our next visit will be on Dec. 21st - they will perform a sugar test on Patty to make sure that her sugar level is normal and she is not experiencing any gestational diabetes which we do not forsee as being a problem.  All in all - everything is coming along great!!  Baby is beginning to kick a little - she's definitely moving around a lot more and over the weeks to come Daddy and Ashleigh as well as everyone else should be able to feel her kicking other than just Mommy for now.

11.6.07 - Patty is 21 weeks.  We had our visit with the doctor to find out the sex of the baby and IT'S A GIRL!!!  We are all very excited - of course we had all hoped for a boy to have one of each but we are truly very blessed and very excited about the cute bundle of joy to come our way.  Ashleigh is very excited about being a big sister and was able to witness seeing the ultrasound in person and hearing the heartbeat.  Baby and Mom are both healthy and doing wonderful!!!!  Daddy is excited and said a good thing he has two pinkies b/c his girls will have themselves wrapped around both!!!  I go back to the doctor in 3 weeks for a simple check up but we will continue to keep all of you posted!!  Enjoy the pictures we posted!!!
