LIAM HAS ARRIVED! What a speedy and dramatic arrival it was!! Born 30 days ahead of his due date, Liam is a tiny, wonderful bundle of joy. Please read our site and sign the guestbook often. We are all happy to have another little boy to love!

I have decided to create an individual website for our second son. Yes, he has a name, but Cameron will not let me reveal it yet. If you ask big brother Andrew, the baby's name is Darth Vader General Grevious Zurg. Andrew is quick to point out that those are all "bad guy" names. I hope that doesn't foretell anything of this baby's personality!

Sign the guestbook and let me know if you are up to reading a separate website for our newest little boy.

Stories

3/1/2010   What is it with my kids throwing up in my bed? Sunday morning Liam got in our bed as I was getting up to use the bathroom. As I was coming out, Cameron brought Liam in, and Liam had throw up on himself. Cameron asked what he should do, so I told him to leave Liam with me and to strip the sheets off of our bed. Do you know what Cameron then did? He threw the yucky sheets in the bathroom with puke covered-Liam and me and then got a blanket and laid down on the naked bed to go back to sleep! Are you kidding me? Umm...get up and help, buddy! This stomach thing at our church just won't go away. It's mostly affecting the kids, and it just lingers. A kid will get it, then be fine for a few days and then throw up again.   Last Friday night Andrew had a friend spend the night for the first time. It was Drew Thompson. They got off to a rough start but then got along great. I think Drew was just so excited to be here that he couldn't focus. Andrew had his own ideas of what they should do. Liam was so excited that Drew was here, he was trying to get Drew's attention no matter what it took- throwing toys at him, hitting him, etc. I made the boys go into Andrew's room at 10:00; I could tell my Andrew was really tired. At 11:00 I said, "Lights out!" I fell asleep, but woke up to squeals at almost 11:30 and had to turn the lights out again. Still, they woke up at 6:00 a.m.! Andrew took a long nap that afternoon.   After Andrew woke up, we went to the Callahan's house for dinner and to hang out with some new church friends. It was lots of fun!   I've already mentioned what happened Sunday morning. Cameron stayed home with Liam while Andrew and I went to church. We had to stop at the new Dunkin' Donuts on the way because we had agreed to bring two dozen donuts for Sunday School. Yummm! I discovered a new favorite drink- blueberry white hot chocolate.   Andrew was so well behaved today. He was acting like a big six year old! Only eight days left now!!!! *sniff* And only two days until our 9th Anniversary!   The kindergarten play will be performed for parents on Friday morning. I can't wait to see it! Andrew has a speaking part which he doesn't know very well. Mrs. Sharp said last week that the musocal is a disaster, but that it always is and the parents love it anyway! Andrew does know his lines, but not really in order and he has to be prompted, but I hear that's true of all the speakers. I will make sure the video camera is charged! Maybe I can borrow Jeannie's Flip so I can easily post the video.   Speaking of Jeannie, her dad was diagnosed with lung cancer last week, and he starts chemo tomorrow. Please pray for him.   It's amazing what kindergarteners have to do these days. They are practicing writing with phoenetic/ inventive spelling. There will be an Escambia Writes test in April. The following is what Andrew wrote on his practice sheet today. See if you can read it:   My fafrit food is pesu. Pesu is yume. You haft too uoos spehsl igredits. You uoos peprones. You uoos ckes.   (My favorite food is pizza. Pizza is yummy. You have to use special ingredients. You use pepperonis. You use cheese.)   I am so proud of him, although this is not the best writing I have seen him do. He cracks me up the way he wants to write so much more than he is ready to do and more than is required. His vocabulary and thought processes are so far ahead of where his writing skills are, he sometimes gets frustrated. I mean really, from what I have seen, there aren't too many other kids trying to spell "ingredients." Also, they don't learn phonics the way I did in school, so he gets to sounds like "sh" and can't figure out which letter to use. (I am sure they will get to that. I was in 1st grade when I was doing the Abeka Book program.) He has been reading so much more, though, that he figured out he needed an "s" and an "h" in there somehow. The same thing is true of the word "Use." At first he wrote "yoos." Then he changed it to "uoos" because his brain had seen the "u" in "use" before. Does that all make sense?    He is reading so much better now, too. It is just so amazing to me to see this happening. I almost wish every teacher could be a mom first and experience this with her child. Maybe teachers feel this way about their first students. It makes me want to cry when I listen to him read his "AR" books. (AR= accelerated reader, I think...) I guess should also record him reading for you. The first book took us about 4 or 5 days to get through. Now he can read them almost perfectly on the first try. I am just awestruck by him. Maybe this all sounds sappy to you, but I think it's so cool.   Well, it's late. Goodnight!

THANKS, Whitney! I did as you suggested. Now I'm hooked up to the site!

Judy,

I think you have to be on the front page to see it. Scroll down to bottom of the page and look for white boxes on the right.

-Whitney     Feb 08 2010
On my screen there is a place on the right hand bottom where you can enter your email address to receive updates. I know others have done it, and I have signed up for alerts from my friends' sites. It's been on my screen for a couple of years. Can you see it?
-Whitney     Feb 07 2010
How do I do that, Whitney? That would be most helpful!
-Judy     Feb 07 2010
Judy, have you signed up to receive the emails notifying when I update the sites?
