It's spring break!  Claire will be home with mom and dad this week.  Dad doesn't have classes, and mom is taking a couple of days off.  What a special time!

Claire can sit up all by her self!  She is so independent now, reaching, rolling over, yelling.  It is such a joy to see the wonder in her eyes when looking at a toy or doing something new.  Just watching her daily, we have definitely been given a different perspective...through the eyes of a child.

Claire has a tooth poking through!!  Teething hasn't been much fun, especially at night.  It has gotten better since the first one has broken through, #2 is on it's way as well!  She looks so cute when she smiles with her little white tooth!

Claire is already growing like a weed!  The 6-9 month clothes are nearly too small for her now.  She is really enjoying the baby food, and even trying some varieties!

Claire has really taken a liking to the baby food!  So far, we have tried green beans, peas, squash and prunes.  There hasn't been a grimace yet.  She makes a cute grunting sound, which we take to mean 'more' or 'yummy'.  We got a highchair for her too, now she eats dinner with us at the table!

She is really growing now....Claire is 17.5 pounds and is eating vegetables!  So far, we have tried the green beans.  It is cute to see her wince at first and then keep eating them.  Next, we will try peas....yumm!

Claire has mastered the milestone of rolling over!  She now rolls from her back to her tummy nearly every time she is put on her back.  She is still working on getting from her tummy to her back again...that must be a little harder.  We enjoy watching her and being there to roll her back over when she starts grunting!

New Year's eve was spent flying back and unpacking!  Claire was such an angel on the trip, she adjusted so well to all the people holding her, being passed around, the time change and the different beds.  We are truly blessed with this little one--she makes our jobs easy!

While in Iowa, we split our time between Des Moines and Audubon.  As ususal, we didn't do or see half the things and people we wanted too.  Most importantly, we enjoyed family time.  Claire loved seeing her grandparents, great grandma, aunts, uncles, etc.  I am sure they are already itching to come and visit!  Of course, she was spoiled beyond belief!  We had to start wearing Christmas outfits on December 20 to get through all of them!

Christmas was a joyous time this year!  We traveled 'home' to Iowa and were there for 8 days.  Claire took her first plane ride, and was voted 'cutest, best baby on the plane' by one of the flight attendant's.   She was very good, hardly fussed at all and I think my ears hurt worse than hers!!

We traveled to Cincinatti, Ohio for Thanksgiving.  It was a 10 hour drive, we spent 2 days driving and two days there, it took Claire about a day to adjust!!  Claire was wonderful on the LONG car ride.  She is getting more active these days, so the last couple of hours she got very antsy in the car seat.  Thanksgiving day, Claire had a little feast of her own...she started rice cereal for the first time and LOVED it!  She caught on to eating from a spoon right away.  In the next week, we will probably start with veggies...I can hardly believe it!

November 21 was Claire's 4 month well-baby check up...more shots!  We spent the afternoon cuddling again.  Claire is still in the upper percentiles for height and weight.  She measured 25.5 inches and was 15.15 lbs.  We got the go-ahead to start on solid foods...from a spoon.  Rice cereal will be the first entree, how exciting!

Saturday, November 5, Claire rolled over for the first time.  Once again...we have been waiting for it to happen again, and it hasn't!  I was on the phone with grandma Alice and Claire was playing on her back.  Next thing I knew, she had rolled over to her tummy.  She has been trying to do it again, but hasn't yet!!

On Sunday, October 30 we took Claire to a pumpkin patch for pictures.  She was such a ham, and seemed to enjoy posing for us!  We didn't go trick-o-treating this year...mom would have eaten all the candy!  Plus, it was bathtime when the kids came around.  Maybe next year!

Claire laughed for the first time tonight (October 19).  Of course it was short lived and she wouldn't do it again, but it was priceless!  She was looking up at her name on the wall and found it amusing!

Claire was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach on Sunday, October 9.  It was a glorious day--the Holy Spirit was definitely a part of her special day.  Claire was a little doll, and such a good girl!  She was able to wear the same gown and bonnet as mom, which was made by her great-grandma Alice, how special!  Grandma Diane & Grandpa Gary found her baptism to be the perfect excuse to make a trip to Virginia!  We had such a nice time while they were here!

It's hard to believe that Claire will be 3 months on Friday!!  She is growing up!!  Claire smiles all the time, any day now we will get a laugh out of her!  She likes bath time and loves her daddy!!  She is definitely a mover and a shaker...she already gets bored of the bouncy seat and swing, we are certain that one of these days she is going to just get up and go!

On Wednesday, September 21 Claire was two months old!  We had her two month check-up at the pediatrician.  She was 24 inches and 10 lbs. 14 oz.  She is in the 95th percentile with her height and 50th percentile with her weight.  Sadly, she had to get 4 shots--it was a horrible experience, but we all made it through!

Claire's 'Uncle' Palle (David's cousin) will be coming to visit from Denmark to visit on Monday.  It will be nice to Claire to meet him...we have tried to prepare her to meet this crazy uncle, but sometimes there isn't much you can do!  Palle and his wife Hege will be here from Monday-Thursday morning.  They will be our first guests (besides Grandma Nicki's helpful visit) in our new house and since Claire has been a part of our family.  We are looking forward to the visit!

Claire continues to sleep through the night...it has been nearly a week straight!!  I have had wonderful night's sleep the past couple of days--it has been awhile it seems!!  She is a little angel, we are going to have a lot of cuddle time this weekend!
