I made it through the first couple days of work--thank goodness for the weekend!!  Day 1 was rough, leaving her was the most difficult thing I have ever had to do!  Claire has adjusted well and seems to sleep and eat better at Shelley's than she does with me-go figure!!  It is nice that she is just right down the road, I have been going over my lunch hour to see her and nurse.  It really helps to break up the day.  It is comforting to me that she is in good hands-Shelley is such a blessing to us!!

Sadly, I go back to work this Thursday the 15th.  Only one full day left with Claire.  We have had a busy week so far, trying to get everything in.  I don't know how I am going to leave her...Thursday and the days following will be very difficult.  I am sure many tears will be shed until we get adjusted!!

Last night, Claire slept through the night-from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  It was wonderful!  Although, I kept checking every two hours anyway, just to make sure she was okay!  We are hoping and praying that this will be ongoing!

Claire has been smiling more and more every day--she seems to be a very content baby!  On Sunday, David played in a softball tournament and we spent the whole day outside.  Claire loves the fresh air!

Claire continues to grow and have more expressions every day!  We went to visit her baby sitter on Friday and she gave us a swing.  Claire likes the swing, but still doesn't have a very long attention span--10 minutes is the swing is plenty!  She loves her Baby Einstein DVD-Baby Bach and enjoys to fall asleep to her lullaby CD.

Claire is already 5 weeks old! It's so hard to believe. She really enjoys going for walks and getting fresh air. Each day she seems to get stronger and more and more active. Claire is also quite the cuddler. She loved to snuggle with mom and dad. We are enjoying each and every precious moment with her.

It is hard to believe that Claire will be a month old tomorrow!!  She is growing each and every day.  We have decided to take her to get professional photos taken each month (for the benefit of the grandparents)!  It will be wonderful to look back and see how much she changes from month to month.  This afternoon, we took her to Sears to get one month pictures today!  She was quite the model!  The hardest part was deciding which pose to order!

Claire Marie Wiederstein will be baptised at Hope Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sunday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Weekend) at 11:00 a.m.

Today (August 18), Claire is 4 weeks old!  As always, time is flying by--she is growing so fast.  Sadly, I only have four weeks of maternity leave left.  I am taking in every precious second of time I have with her.  This week has been a bit challenging as we adjust to being home and Claire being in her own bed.  It is so hard to put her down, I could hold her all day!

We returned from our trip to Iowa this week, and we are now trying to get into a routine! We enjoyed our time with family and friends very much...it was great to see so many people while we were back! Claire certainly got enough spoiling to last her until our next trip back for Christmas, unless we have visitors sooner! :) The grandma's and grandpas, aunts and uncles are all smitten with the newest addition to both families. She is a lucky girl to be loved so much! It will definitely be hard being away from family and loved ones as she grows, but keep checking the site for the latest updates!!

Claire had her first doctor's appointment yesterday (7/28). It is hard to believe she is already 1 week old! This was our first outing!  We also went to show her off at work, she is a big hit and was such a good girl!!  Her first appointment went great--she has grown 2 inches and is getting back to her birth weight. She is perfectly healthy and all the nurses loved her blond hair!!! We have gotten the go ahead to come back to Iowa after her next appointment, so we will be back 'home' August 5-15th. We can't wait to see many of you!!!

Grandma Nikki has been here for the last few days.  It has been wonderful to have the help!  Claire has certainly gotten a lot of cuddles, hugs and kisses.  She is a little princess already and there is no doubt that she has her daddy wrapped around her finger!

After a three day stay in the hospital, we are now home.  It is nice to be home, although reality hit us on our way home from the hospital, we are now on our own!!  The first night was a little scary.  We have learned the Claire has quite the sucking reflex.  It seemed as though she wanted to eat all the time.  I was concerned that she wasn't getting enough to eat.  But, come to find out, she was just needing to satisfy the sucking reflex.  Thankfully, we had a pacifier and that worked.  Claire is now adjusting to the new environment and mom is enjoying every minute with her!!  The many facial expressions keep us entertained for hours upon hours.  It is amazing how much joy she has brought to our family already!!

Thursday, July 21 was the big day!  There were so many emotions, mostly anticipation.  The waiting was the hardest part, we're glad that doctor arrived early and was ready to go.  Claire Marie Wiederstein made her entrance into the world at 1:23 p.m. with a big yell...many yells!!  She definitely has a distinctive scream, we can pick hers out!  She came out with beautiful blond hair, and we're still trying to decide who she looks like.  We were a little surprised that she was a girl, afterall, many of the predictions by family and friends were for a boy.  We are delighted that we now have a little girl (although we need more pink and ruffles!) and have never experienced such an immediate love!  Life is forever changed.

On Wednesday, July 20,we had our last appointment with the doctor.  The ultrasound measured the baby being over 9 pounds.  A c-section was scheduled for the following day at 1:30 p.m.!
