Thursday 8 September 2005 Well, where has the past year gone? We no longer have two, gorgeous, quiet little babies, rather two very nosey, very noisey and extremely mischevious little men who are into absolutely anything and everything!! Today is a day that this time last year we thought we would never see. After the boys were born 2 months prematurely, there were many times both Geoff and I thought they would not make it to this day, but they have both overcome the odds and over the course of the year we have seen both our special little boys go from strength to strength. Now, when we look back at their pictures of when they were first born and how tiny they were, it is hard to believe they are the same little boys!! A year on and we still pinch ourselves occasionally to remind ourselves of just how lucky we are to have two very happy, healthy, noisy and mischevious little babies who we love more and more each day. Happy 1st Birthday Ben & Kyle With lots and lots of love and cuddles from Mummy & Daddy xxxx Today is Sunday 4 September which means today is PARTY DAY!! A year old (well nearly) already! The boys celebrated in style with all their little friends and enjoyed lots of cake, crisps, trifle, oh, and even more cake. They have been very spoilt with all the presents they have received. We haven't opened anything yet - as Thursday is the "official" BIG day, we decided to wait until then. Besides, Mummy and Daddy are too tired out from the party to start helping unwrap the mountain of presents that take up most of Kyle and Ben's new playroom!!! We would all like to thank everyone to came to their party and for all the presents too. I'm sure Kyle and Ben will have lots of fun playing with all the empty boxes and wrapping paper!! We hope enjoyed the day as much as we all did. Kyle and Ben would like say a BIG HELLO to their little cousin, Maddison Ashley who arrived in the world at 9.46pm (Gibraltar time) on Friday 5 August 2005. A surprise daughter for Aunty Debbie and Uncle Matthew, weighing 9lb. Today is Thursday 28 July 2005. It's hard to believe that in only 6 weeks Ben and Kyle will be one years old. Both boys continue to progress. At their last weigh in two weeks ago Kyle was 21lb 4oz and Ben was 18lb 3oz. They are both on the move, though not walking or crawling. Kyle has turned into a bum shuffler and Ben gets around by rolling everywhere. They are both mischievious little boys who give Mummy and Daddy endless hours of fun and laughter. Although Kyle has been showing all the symptoms of teething, he has yet to cut any. Ben, on the other hand, cut his first tooth on his bottom gum on 15 July. So now we have a fight every morning and evening trying to brush his tooth! Today is Wednesday 25 May 2005. Kyle and Ben went for their 8 month check up today with the Paeditrician. She was very pleased with their progress and now doesn't want to see them until December. We are really pleased with the progress the boys are making. Today is Monday 23 May 2005 and the boys are 8½ months old already, it's quite scary how fast their first year is going. It will soon be time to think about their first birthday! Ben and Kyle are both thriving. When they were weighed last Tuesday Kyle weighed 19lb 11oz and Ben 17lb 1oz. They have their 8 month check up with the Peaditrician this Wednesday. Both boys continue to learn new things each week. Ben can now roll over (which doesn't really help me when I'm trying to change his nappy!) And Kyle is now able to sit up on his own. They also like to help out when it comes to meal times, as the pictures I have posted show, it can get quite messy, but it's all good fun!! It's nice to see that the boys are learning new things at different times. A couple of weeks ago we bought Ben and Kyle their baby walkers. Although Ben can get around in his, I think he feels a little intimidated by Kyle who is a bit of a speed demon. The look on their faces when they are in them is a real pleasure to see. Today is Monday 21st February. This morning was spent catching up with friends Sharon and Gumrey and their little girl, Tilly. As much as I tried to settle Kyle down for a nap, he wasn't having any of it! So in sheer desperation of a bit of peace and quiet, we went out for a nice long walk, shame it was a bit on the cold side though. Just as I thought, as soon as the boys went into their buggy, they would be in the land of nod! Magic, peace and quite for the next two hours! Today is Tuesday 8th February 2005 and Ben and Kyle are now 5 months old. They are both happy and healthy little boys who are always on the lookout for cuddles! Kyle now weighs 15lb 3oz and Ben is catching up and weighing in at 12lb 8oz. We are about to start weaning the boys, starting with some baby rice - this is where the fun really begins!! Kyle and Ben were born at 32 weeks 4 days gestation at Llandough Hospital, Cardiff, Wales on Wednesday 8th September 2004 by emergency C-Section. Unfortunatley at one of our routine scans we found out that Ben was not developing as well as his brother (in fact he'd stopped growing altogether) and was losing the amniotic fluid around him. I was up to our local hospital every day for various scans and tests during the course of the following week. After which point we were told by our consultant that in order to give both babies the best chance of survival it would be best to deliver them within the next 36 hours. The only problem was Guernsey (where we live) did not have the facilities to take us as the SCBU was already full. This explains why we have two little Welsh boys!
