1/29/07- We get to see Caleb and Daniel tonight!! Yay! This is the longest we've been away from them, so it will be so good to see them. When we got to the gate in Boise, we called and talked to Caleb. He was really missing us so it was good we were on our way home. He just really misses people when they're away. He's always saying he misses Gigi and Papa O, and when he hasn't seen Nana and Papa in a while, he'll say he misses them. He's a sweet child.
Aaron still never got his bag. United allowed him some money to be able to get clothes for the funeral the other day. We're really going to have to figure this out when we get to Nashville. We were going through Minneapolis this time instead of Denver. I wish we were going through Denver, because I think they made the mistake. Sure enough, when we got to Nashville, they told Aaron it came into Denver on the flight we had flown in on last Thursday and had been sitting in Denver for the last 5 days! Frustation!
We met Mom and Dad and the boys in Murfreesboro for dinner. It was SO GREAT to see them again! We really appreciated Mom and Dad watching them on such short notice. Wedrove home and Caleb kept saying, "Mommy, I love you so much. I really, really missed you." It was precious. They'll go with us on the next trip.
1/28/07- It was great to go to church again at Midvale, but wow, it was hard today. Kevin, the preacher, had planned a "song and scripture service" centered around peace, refuge, and comfort. It was really hard to sing some of those songs, but it was good to all be together. There was just a big hole missing...
We had lunch at Mrs. Claudia's with the two sons and their families who were still there. They were all so good to us and so sweet. We really enjoyed visiting with them and they treated us and even said we were just like family.
We said goodbye to Mrs. Claudia and got on the road and headed to Boise. Our flight was early Monday morning and we wanted to go ahead and stay down there so we were close. We went to evening services down that way with an lady who grew up in Midvale, but now lives closer to Boise. Then we went out to dinner with her and her husband and son. When I was going to Boise State, I stayed during the week with the son and his wife. They lived in Boise close to the school and all their children were gone. We had a lot of good laughs and a good time.
1/27/07- What a day. The service was scheduled for 11am, and people started showing up at 10am. We all planned on being there by 10:15, but people were already showing up. By 10:30am, the line to go in the building was down the road and the building was almost filled up. We had seating for 350 and the funeral home had 350 programs to hand out, and we ran out of both. It was standing room only. There must have been about 400 people there- it was incredible. The service was beautiful and special- there wasn't a dry eye in the house. His casket was made out of pine, for Pine Creek where he grew up and where the cabin was. The arrangement on the casket had a tape measure through it and his straw hat that he always wore lay on top. It was Mr. Tom to the "T." He would not have believe how many people were there. Each of the 4 grandchildren read something: one read the obituary, one read the letter he wrote back home from WWII, after he jumped over the Rhine River on his 22nd birthday; one read a poem called "The Builder," and one read, "A granddaughter's reflection of grandpa." It was so special. The family also included "times of reflection" in the service, for people who wanted to share stories or memories about Mr. Tom. That was so neat. They asked Aaron to carry the microphone around to people who raised their hands to share something, and at first people were hesitant. Mrs. Claudia had already told Aaron he would have to "break the ice," and he did, with a cute and funny story about he and Mr. Tom. Everyone laughed and then the hands went up. Over 20 people shared something and each story was different, but each told how special Mr. Tom was and how much he meant to the community.
The service was about an hour and then it took the 350 people about an hour to walk through, extend their respect and sympathy to the family. It was something else. There was a dinner planned at the VFW Hall in town, so several of the ladies headed down there to get food ready to serve. Aaron and I were in charge of transporting the computer and LCD projector down to the Hall to show the slideshow again for people who may not have seen it as they were coming in before the funeral. Aaron was one of the pallbearers, so he did that and then we headed up to the cemetery. There were three military persons up at the cemetery and they played Taps and did the flag and handed it to Mrs. Claudia. Very moving.
After the burial, everyone headed down to the VFW Hall for the dinner. We got to see and visit with a lot of people while we were there, which was really nice. The ladies said they ended up feeding about 400 people. That's small town community for you. It's just different out there, but it's great.
That evening after everything was cleaned up and all the chairs were folded and taken back to where they needed to go, all of the extended family gathered at Dennis and Tonya's. It was one of the grandson's birthdays, and they still had a little party for him- he's only 8. It was a good distraction and everyone enjoyed being together. Today was hard, but tomorrow might actually be harder, because it will be the first time going to church without Mr. Tom. I don't know if he ever missed a service...
1/26/07- We spent the morning with Mr. Tom and Mrs. Claudia's oldest son, Jeff, from Washington State, going around with him different places and getting things together for the funeral. We took a little side trip up to Cambridge (just 8 miles north of Midvale) to see the last project that Mr. Tom did- a beautiful pine door for a restaurant in Cambridge. Then we went up to the cabin he had built. We went there quite often when we lived in Idaho. This cabin is just incredible- 4 stories and he ran the electricity off the creek and 2 of those mega batteries! I'm glad we took the little trip up there. Aaron had a lot of memories of going fishing with him around there and being at the cabin.
In the afternoon, we tried to help out where we could. Aaron and some of the other guys set up about 200 chairs at the building. There was seating for about 150 already, but they were preparing for about 350 people to be there. He just touched so many lives. I spent time with one of the granddaughters, who had made this wonderful slideshow of him, but was having trouble figuring out how to put the music with it. It was good to spend time with her and by the end of the day and with the help of others, it all came together. We made sure everything was setup the night before, so we wouldn't have to do much tomorrow before the funeral.
1/25/07-
It's always hard to leave you, boys. The last 2 trips I've had to go in and say goodbye to you while you're sleeping. You both are so precious and I just pray that we make it back to you safely. Mommy and Daddy love you so much...
Aaron and I forgot just how long it takes to get our West- whether you're driving or flying! The flight to Denver was about 2 and 1/2 hours, then we had almost a 4 hour layover before our flight from Denver to Boise. When we got off the plane in Denver, there was actually a flight leaving for Boise only 1 hour after landed. We tried to get on that flight, but the guy (who wasn't very nice) said we had to travel with our bags. We tried! We found a place to sit down and have a nice relaxing breakfast and talk. Aaron and I had so many mixed feelings and emotions and it was good for us to talk and share them. We both loved Mr. Tom so much and we were both having a hard time coping with his death. He was just so special and he touched so many lives. On the other hand, it was exciting for us to be going back to Idaho and to the town of Midvale. As much as we would have loved for the boys to come with us, it would have been too much, with the funeral and all. So, it was just like when we lived there- just the two of us.
We arrived in Boise around 3:00pm and wouldn't you know, Aaron's bag didn't show up on the carousel. United lost it! This is the first time this has happened to us, so we went to the United Baggage office, filled out the paperwork and they said they would bring it to us in Midvale when it arrived. I got my bags, but somehow his didn't make it. We got our rental car and decided to go ahead and drive down to my alma mater: Boise State University, before heading up to Midvale, because we didn't think we'd get to go again before flying back home. It was so NEAT! The whole city is still on Cloud 9 about the win. We went in to the hall of fame plaza, which is part of the stadium, and saw the trophy. Then we went outside on the "Smurf Turf" the blue turf of Boise State. It was great. We walked around campus a little bit and went by the Bronco Shop to pick up a shirt or something. I don't have anything from going there, so I wanted to get something. I really wanted a blue sweatshirt that said "Boise State," but they were all really expensive, so I decided to get a gray t-shirt that had "Boise State Broncos" in blue and orange. Just before I went to pay, Aaron called me over. He found this bundle pack with a t-shirt AND blue hooded sweatshirt that said "Boise State." It was perfect, so he got if for me. I was so excited!
After Boise, we headed on the road for the 90 mile/1 and 1/2 hour drive up to Midvale. Oh, the number of times I made that drive- almost every weekend while attending Boise State! The drive was beautiful, just like it always was. The temperature in Boise was in the 30's, but there was only snow in the mountains there. However, when we got to Midvale, there was snow everywhere! Not a whole lot, but it was there. It was much colder, probably 20's. We stopped at the Midvale rest area off Hwy. 95 and looked over the valley of Midvale. It was so beautiful- the blanket of snow in the valley with the huge, beautiful snow covered mountains in the background. This was our first home together, and we were glad to be home.
We arrived at Mrs. Claudia's and all of the family was there, and the preacher, and they were sharing stories and trying to plan the funeral service. There was laughing and crying, but it was good to be in their home. There was so much love in that house. We were so glad to be there with Mrs. Claudia and she was so glad we were there. We got to visit some more after dinner and then stayed over at the home of her youngest son, Dennis. He and his wife, Tonya, just live 2 doors down and they were so nice to keep us. Aaron called about his bag, but there was still no word. Deal with it in the morning.
1/24/07- This morning I got a phone call from one of our dear members of the church out in Idaho. She's always been the one to keep us up-to-date with what's going on with everyone out there in Midvale, where Aaron and I lived and Aaron preached for 2 years after we were married. Unfortunately, she was calling this time to let us know that her husband, Mr. Tom, had passed away of a stroke.
Everyone in Midvale was so great to us when we lived out there, but Mr. Tom and Mrs. Claudia really "took us in" I guess you could say. They treated us just like family, especially since we didn't have any family way out there in the Northwest. Mr. Tom was just like a dad to Aaron- he took him so many places, taught him so many things. They'd go fishing for hours and Mrs. Claudia and I got to spend a lot of time together, too. Mr. Tom was the most self-sufficient man I'd ever met. The stories he would tell about growing up in the woods and working on sheep camps would amaze you. He learned to live on the land. As he got older and after World War II, he got more into building, and he built and repaired quite a few buildings and homes, including the homes of each of their 3 sons and a beautiful cabin in the woods of Pine Creek. Everyone knew that if Tom Holmes built it, it would stay standing- they knew his quality. As he got up in years, his projects scaled down to things like beautiful furniture, rocking horses, and his unique birdhouses. (After Caleb was born, they sent a rocking horse to us and both boys have thoroughly enjoyed it and still do.) The thing about Mr. Tom was he was always doing for others. When we lived there, he was always working on something on the church building, something on the house we lived in next door to the building, or anything that someone needed done. We have so many GREAT memories of this man and he will be greatly missed.
After I spoke with Mrs. Claudia, I just called Aaron in tears, telling him that Mr. Tom had passed away. I just felt like we really needed to go: to be there for the funeral, but also to be there for Mrs. Claudia and to see the members who are left at the congregation there in Midvale. 4 have passed away since we lived there. Aaron and I spent the morning looking for flights, from every airport within 4 hours of us to every airport within 4-6 hours of Midvale, and everything was so high. Aaron actually thought about renting a car and driving out there, but it would have been 30 hours and 2,132 miles ONE WAY! His principal was going to give him the time off and Mom and Dad were going to watch the boys, so we knew we had the time and ability to go. We just kept looking and I finally found some reasonable flights, and it was from Nashville to Boise, with one connecting flight. We decided to go for it and somehow got everything packed that afternoon and headed up to Mom and Dad's in Columbia to bring the boys up. We spent the night and our flight was scheduled for 6:00am Thursday morning. We are excited to go, but sad for the reason we're going.
1/23/07- Today, the boys and I went down to LaFayette to see and bring food to one of our members who just had surgery. When we got to LaFayette, we stopped at the Dollar Store and Caleb picked out a couple things for her- it was so sweet! One of the things he picked out was this little musical red bear (for Valentine's Day) that played "Fur Elise" by Beethoven. Caleb recognized the song right away and said, "I want to get this for her!" He has become so interested in classical music, through watching that little cartoon Little Einsteins. It is such a great and educational cartoon for kids and I love all the things that they do relating to music- focus on a different piece of classical music & piece of artwork each episode, name the composer and artist, lots of singing in head voice (where kids are supposed to sing), making up words to go along with the music, and patting the steady beat to the music. Well, the episode that they do about the planets is done to "Fur Elise," and they go through each planet singing, "Mercury is closest to the sun, Mercury, is planet 1!" and so on. So, when he gave Sister Russ the bear, he said, "it plays 'Mercury is closest to the sun!'" and I had to explain.
After visiting her, we went just a few minutes up the way to Chickamauga and had lunch with Daddy! That was neat and it's been a while since we've done that. Caleb was very sweet talking with Ms. Vann (the principal) and others there. We've been working on talking to and with adults. We've gone through a little stage where he hasn't been talking to adults when they ask him something or talk to him, and he knows better. So, this was a breakthrough today, both with Sister Russ and at Aaron's school.
After eating lunch with Daddy, the boys napped while I drove around Walker and Catoosa County looking at areas and houses. Just getting ideas- nothing definite.
1/20/07- Well, Daniel has been taking steps off and on the last few weeks, trying to see if he can keep his balance stepping from one piece of furniture to the next. But, today he really walked! He's still a little hesitant, but he's really doing it! Yay, Daniel!! So, I can say that you started walking around 13 and 1/2 months, Daniel! Good job, buddy!
1/17/07- Library Day! Today the kids made pizzas! Caleb has always been a little hesitant when they make food at the library- I have no idea why. He always wants me to do everything, but when we're at home,
he wants to do everything! But, today he did it all. They made the english muffin pizzas, which my mom always used to make- I love those pizzas! They baked in the oven while the librarian read stories, and then they wrapped them up at the end. Caleb was so excited to go home and eat his pizza! Yay! We have found something else that he likes! I'll have to pick up some english muffins, pizza sauce, and pepperoni.
1/15/07- Dad/Papa Goodall headed back to Columbia early this morning before we got up, because the pool guys were coming back to work on some things. Caleb and I got ready to go down to a ladies' luncheon in Cartersville, GA, where one of our members lives. There were going to be other kids there, so Aaron and I decided that Caleb would spend the day with me and Daniel would spend the day with him (Aaron had the day off for Martin Luther King). This worked out well. Ever since Caleb and I went to Disney on Ice in October, he's enjoyed going on "dates" with Mommy! And it gives Daniel and Daddy good quality time by themselves.
Caleb and I stopped at the outlets on the way home and at the ones in Dalton, there was a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory- yum! We went inside and Caleb picked out a monster candy apple dipped in caramel with tiny M&M's on it. They cut it up for us and we sat outside on a bench and ate it and watched the rain fall. It was very special.
1/13/07- Busy, but fun day! It was so nice outside and very warm (for January) so we spent a lot of time outside playing, washing the car, working on the garage, and having fun watching the boys ride their many riding toys- both battery operated and non-battery operated! They are just so fun to watch and play with.
My mom was up in NJ for the weekend to work with her sisters on Uncle Charlie's estate, so Dad/Papa Goodall came down in the evening after he finished up with the guys who are putting a POOL in the their yard- yay!! It will be ready to go by Memorial Day! He came down just in time for dinner and we just had a fun, relaxing dinner and evening of hot dogs and chili, macaroni and cheese and corn. Then he looked at our bathroom downstairs and family room that we're wanting to have worked on and came up with some ideas. All in all, the boys were excited that Papa came down.
1/12/07- This evening, we went to a basketball game at Whitwell: Whitwell vs. South Pittsburg. Aaron has been helping out Coach Webb with South Pittsburg team, since the girls that he coach 2 years ago on the junior high team are now on the varsity team. He knows their potential and what they can do, and he does miss coaching, so it works out for everyone: Coach Webb has a great scout and "assistant", the girls love Coach Collins, and Aaron gets to help coach.
Daniel enjoyed just sitting on somebody's lap and watching the game. He would clap every once and a while- it was so cute! Caleb likes the concession stand...and taking more than one trip to it! So, he was a little disappointed when Mommy brought a drink and snack from home, because that meant no trips to the concession stand. However, someone that we know from South Pittsburg brought Caleb a bag of popcorn from the concession stand, and that made him very happy.
1/9/07- Chattanooga Day! The boys and I hadn't been to Chattanooga on a day trip for weeks, so we were excited to go. Goals for the day: get Caleb's haircut, exchange wrong sized clothes at Penney's, and get 2 calendars 50% off. We went to the mall first. I thought they'd have Disney's Pixar Cars calendars, but they don't even have them. But, Caleb was happy to get a Nascar one- still "cars." This is something I like doing each year- getting the boys their own calendar to record special things throughout the year that they do and accomplish. When Daniel was born, I ordered his first and second year calendars at the same time, so I already have one for him.
After the mall, we went to get Caleb's haircut. Caleb, you are just like your Daddy sometimes. (However, your Dad doesn't have to be in a certain mood to talk with people!) You were in the most talkative mood while you were getting your haircut today! The girl cutting your hair thought you were older than 3 and 1/2. You just told her what your name was, when you birthday was, how old you were, what you got for Christmas, where we had been today, what your brother's name is. You, like your Daddy, never cease to amaze me! The things that you think about and ask are beyond me sometimes. Daddy often says to me, "what do we do with our son who is smarter than us?" You have your moments, but it melts my heart when you come to me after you've disobeyed and say, "I know what I did wrong and I'm going to change my attitude. I love you, Mommy." And then when you say a prayer, apologizing to God for what you did, I have a hard time not crying. "Dear God, I'm sorry that I did that and I'm sorry for what I did and help me to change and have a better attitude." I hope you know how much we love and how much you mean to us. You are such a special boy.
1/5/07- Happy 13 months old, Daniel! Daniel is trying so hard to walk! Today, he actually stood up, bounced up and down with his knees without falling, clapped his hands, and then took 7 steps over to the sofa. (I need to post this video!) He has the balance and strength in his legs to walk, he just needs to gain the confidence to just do it. This afternoon, he spent about 20 minutes standing up without falling, and playing with a hand towel. He'd pick it up, then drop it, bend down, pick it up, put it on his head, laugh, drop it, etc, all without falling down! He has this obsession with playing with articles of clothing and towels. He loves to put them on his head and play peek-a-boo.
Daniel, you are so adorable when you do these things. I can just see your personality flourishing. The other thing you love to do is play with the tags on towels and clothes. When you see that something has tags, you instantly put your thumb in your mouth and rub the tag. This is probably because of the taggie blanket that Nana got you when you were just an infant. You always fall asleep rubbing the little tags on your taggie blanket, sucking your thumb. It is so precious.
You are very attached to your Daddy right now. I think it's because he has been home and on Winter break for the last 2 weeks, and now that he's back at school, you really miss him. You get so excited when he gets home, and you cry if he leaves the room. Are you getting to be Daddy's little boy? I know you still love your Mommy. You are a precious little boy and Mommy and Daddy both love you very much.
1/1/07- Happy 8th anniversary to Mommy and Daddy! Aaron and I have been married for 8 years, and it just keeps getting better. We feel so blessed with our wonderful marriage, our life, our 2 precious boys, and everything God has done for us.
We had a very relaxing family day. This was the first day all of us had been home together since before Christmas, so we all just enjoyed our different presents. Caleb and Aaron had fun playing their Cars Playstation 2 game. It is so cute to watch them play video games together.
12/31/06- This evening after church, we went to the New Year's Even get-together at the Watkins' house, which was very enjoyable. This was our first year to be in town for the gathering. Usually, we are out of town during the holidays, but with my mom and dad in TN now, things worked out for us to be able to go.
Caleb had so much fun. He played well with others and just enjoyed being with everyone, especially the kids. They had fireworks around 11:30pm and he really enjoyed those. He sat in a seat with a girl from church and was very brave this time when the fireworks were going off. Last year during 4th of July, he was scared, but he announced, "I was brave this time!" He stayed up the whole time and had fun blowing a horn at midnight and shouting "happy new year!" Caleb, you are so cute.
Daniel was great at their house, too. He spent almost an hour in the highchair eating- no surprise there! This boy loves to eat! Afterward, he crawled and cruised around with another little toddler from his bible class. They were so cute together! Then, around 9:30pm he started rubbing his eyes. It was already about an hour past his bedtime. I had brought his pajamas and got him all ready for bed, and then just laid him down in a pack n' play they had in one of their bedrooms, and he went right to sleep. People kept coming and telling me how sweet he looked sleeping in there. The room he was in was where everyone put their coats and purses. He slept the whole time until I picked him up to leave, and then he fell back to sleep in the van. Happy New Year, sweet boy!
12/29/06- Today, my Grandma, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Tim, and cousins, Robin, David, Ginger, and her husband, David, all came over to my parents' house today. We had yummy soup and corn muffins and set out all the Christmas cookies. It was a fun day.
After everyone left, the boys played with some boxes. My parents said that Daniel has had so much fun using boxes as walkers, pushing them along, and also sitting on them. This evening, Matt pulled them around in a box. It was so funny!
12/28/06- This evening, we head back to TN, so we just took it easy this morning and had a nice breakfast, and just went to some stores. We got our bags from the hotel and headed for the train. I just love Chicago. It's really easy to get downtown by taking the train from the airport and the people are very nice and helpful! We were very impressed. It was such a great trip- I think we'll be back again soon!
When we got on the plane, I really started getting excited about seeing the boys. I called my dad before we got on the plane and he said Caleb would be coming with him, so that was neat. Our flight went great and by the time we got our bags, Dad was just pulling up. Caleb was so excited to see us. He gave us big hugs and had the biggest smile on his face. Aaron headed to the car so he could head back home- he's going to a bowl game with his buddy, so he needed to get back. Caleb just had so much to say in the van on the way back to my parents' house. Being gone from that sweet little voice and smart little boy made me so happy to be back with him, even though Aaron and I had a fantastic time in Chicago. By the time we got home, Daniel was already in bed, but it was so precious to see that little thing sleeping away. Caleb and I read some books before he went to bed. I was glad to be back with those little boys.
12/27/06- Day 2 in Chicago! We slept in this morning, which was very nice. Then we headed to our little Corner Bakery Cafe for breakfast. After breakfast, we just enjoyed walking around the city. We headed south down Michigan Ave. and went through Millineum Park, Grant Park, saw the Buckingham Fountain, and then walked along Lake Michigan and around the Museum district: Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, etc. We walked over to Soldier Field where the Chicago Bears play, and that was neat. By this time, we were needing to head back, because Mamma Mia was at 2pm! We headed that direction and stopped a few other places on the way and made it to the theater by 1:40pm. The theater was beautiful and we were so excited.
Mamma Mia is based on the music and lyrics of the group ABBA. Aaron and I love the music of ABBA, so we were excited to see and hear it in a Broadway setting. Well, we loved it! It was so great. The end was the best. All the cast came out and sang and danced to 3 great songs. People were standing up in the audience and singing along and clapping. It was great.
We met Tim after the show and headed back to the airport with him on the train, where he was parked (he works downtown). We rode back to Amanda and Tim's, picked up a pizza on the way, and had dinner at their house. Then, Tim and Aaron headed to the United Center to see... THE CHICAGO BULLS VS. MIAMI HEAT!!!!!! They were so excited. Amanda and I were excited because we were going to get to hang out with each other at her house and just catch up and talk. We all had a great time- guys at the game, and girls chatting at home. Amanda drove us back downtown to our hotel and we appreciated that. Another great day.
12/26/06- Aaron and I left early this morning for the Nashville Airport, for our trip to Chicago! This is the first trip we have taken
by ourselves since Daniel was born and we were very excited to be taking a little trip. We left before the boys got up, so I just went in and gave them kisses and watched them sleep for a moment. That's the hardest for me, is saying goodbye to them. My parents were going to be watching them, so I knew everything would be fine.
We arrived at the Nashville Airport and was not prepared for the packed parking lot and the long lines. We parked in Timbuckto- literally! Then, we took the shuttle and saw the lines to check our bags. Somehow, we made it through the long line outside (the line inside was standing still and much longer) and got on the plane just in time!
The flight was only an hour, which was great! I couldn't believe how quick it was. We flew into Midway airport and then took the train downtown and checked into our hotel, the Swissotel. By 11:30am, we were set! Our plan was to eat an early dinner at a nice place, since we were going to be going to church tonight (where our friends go, they worship on Tuesday evenings) and we knew this was our only night to really go and have a nice dinner while we were in Chicago. We checked with the concierge, and he suggested McCormick and Schmicks. We looked over their menu and it looked so great, so we made our reservation for 4pm. Then, we went down the street to get a little bite to eat for lunch and found this GREAT cafe: Corner Bakery Cafe. We fell in love with this place! Very similar to Panera Bread, but with the downtown Chicago feel. Their menu was great and we split a Chicken Pesto Sandwich, which was delicious.
After lunch, we headed to the Magnificant Mile. We went in several stores, but didn't really get anything (except a little Cars candy pen for Caleb at the Disney store!), we just enjoyed walking around and being together. We headed back to get ready for dinner and walked over to the restaurant. We had such a great evening and Aaron had a great idea. We knew we weren't going to be able to take any leftover food with us, since we were heading to church afterwards, so we ordered an appetizer and once entree to share, and then he got a soup and I got a salad. The entree that we chose was so great: Atlantic Salmon stuffed with bay shrimp, blue crab, and Brie cheese. It was delicious and I'm so glad we split it! We had plenty of time, so we ordered dessert and got this trio of desserts, each in their own little ramkin dishes: blackberry cobbler, bread pudding, and cream brulee. We really enjoyed our meal, the restaurant, the atmosphere, and most of all, just being together.
We still had some time before we had to catch the train to meet Tim and Amanda at the airport, where they were going to pick us up to go to church.. So, we walked around just a little bit and saw the big tree lit up and found the Cadillac Palace Theater, where we'll be going to see Mamma Mia tomorrow- yay! We headed back and got on the train and Tim picked us up and we headed to church.
It was so great to see Amanda and Tim and their 2 kids. We went back to their house after church and helped them unload some furniture that they had just brought back from their parents house. It was just good to be with them, no matter what we were doing. Tim drove us back downtown to our hotel, which was nice. It had been a full day, but extremely enjoyable.
