6/22/06-  Daniel woke up with a runny nose this morning- I think he is really starting to teethe.  Caleb had such a hard time with teething- I hope Daniel has an easier time.

We went down to Aaron's school to meet his principal at the school where he will be an assistant principal.  She is very nice, and we also met the bookkeeper, and she's great, too.  Aaron will fit right in with them!  While we were down that way, Aaron got his allergy shots, and we also ran to the church building for me to get some more things done for Caleb's class that I'll be teaching.  The boys were really good everywhere that we went.

6/21/06-  I ran all of my errands this morning- oil change for the van, post office to stop mail, gas for the van, etc.  I spent the afternoon packing everything.  We have a lot more to pack this trip, because we have my cousin's wedding on Saturday, and there's a gospel meeting going on at the congregation where Gigi and Papa O go, so we have wedding clothes, church clothes, and play clothes to pack!

6/20/06-  Today Caleb went with Aaron to Whitwell's football camp.  Aaron still likes to go and hang out with the coaches, (his buddies!) and have a good time with them.  He ended up helping out (surprise, surprise!) by making certificates for all of the kids.  I think he's made these certificates every year, even though he's not on the coaching staff there anymore!

Aaron just kept Caleb with him when he went to Chattanooga to work on some things at the church building and also to go get his allergy shots.  He said Caleb was really good, and I'm so glad he was.

I was able to get a lot done around the house- laundry and cleaning, since we're about to go on our trip.

6/19/06-  I headed back home today.  I need to get back so I can get laundry done and everything ready for our trip to Oklahoma!  These next couple weeks are going to be busy.  The boys did well on the way home- slept the whole way- I was so glad!

6/18/06-  Happy Father's Day!  We called Daddy first thing this morning and Caleb was so excited to talk with him.  They we went down for breakfast, and Caleb, on his own, said, "Happy Father's Day, Papa!"  Before we left for church, my dad pulled out the meat that he had picked up yesterday.  He had the butcher cut these HUGE t-Bone steaks- biggest ones I've ever seen.  He marinated them so they would be good and ready when we got home from church.  We went to church and had a good service.  When we got home, dad fired up the grill and mom got the side dishes ready and we had a great lunch!  Caleb ate GREAT- probably the best I've seen in a long time.  He had two helpings of meat, 3 helpings of mashed potatoes, and some broccoli- yes, he ate the broccoli- asked for it and ate it on his own!!

After lunch, I put Daniel down for a nap, and we got things ready for dessert.  Caleb and Matt were playing outside, so we were able to get Matt's cake ready since we were celebrating his birthday.  Caleb was so cute.  He new Nana had made a cake for Matt, and he kept going, "Shhhhh! Matt- there's a surprise for you!"  He was so excited to sing to Matt and watch him open his presents.  Mom and Dad got Matt a really nice knife set with the block holder- it was a really good quality set and something he's been needing and wanting.  They also got him some landscaping books to add to his collection.  After Matt opened everything, Caleb realized that there weren't as many presents on the table as he had for his birthday, and after Matt opened everything, Caleb said, "but where are the rest of the presents?"  We had to explain to him that as you get older, you get bigger gifts, and less packages!  It was a good day.  Caleb gave his little present to Papa, and he loved it.

6/17/06-  Caleb spent the morning out with Papa, riding around in Papa's new truck.  They took some things to the dump, went to an electronics store to look for a new big tv for the bonus room, and to pick up meat for Sunday lunch.  Unfortunately, they got a flat tire on the truck while they were out!  On the new truck!  My dad seemed to think that they had a tire on there that had already been patched, with the way it went flat.  That took some time for them to take care of and it was lunch time, so Papa said that they would probably just stop out somewhere.  I wondered if Caleb would suggest McDonald's and remember that they're giving out "Cars" in the happy meals.  Well, sure enough, he came home with Doc Hudson!  He was so excited.  He had a great time with Papa.

This evening, we went to a picnic with Mom and Dad's community.  They had it at a local park and it was good for them to meet some people in their development and their surrounding community.  They had a big jumping tent, and Caleb had fun jumping in that.  We headed home and got baths for the boys and waited for Uncle Matt to come.  He came just before Caleb went to bed, so they were excited to see each other and play for a little bit.

6/16/06-  Today, Nana, Caleb, Daniel and I went to the Nashville Zoo!  Caleb and I went around this time last year and just loved it, so we were excited to go back.  They put in some new areas since we've been there.  They had giraffes, which Caleb really liked, and new place called "Lorikeet Landing," where you can go in a netted area where you're in where the  birds fly around.  We all had a great time, and it was fun for Nana to go, too!

6/15/06-  Today, the boys and I are heading up to Columbia to spend the weekend with Nana and Papa and Uncle Matt.  Matt's birthday is today, but he'll be coming up Saturday night and we'll celebrate his birthday and Father's day on Sunday.  I got everything packed in the van and then ran to my school to pick up my final check.  Then we went to Pizza Hut with Lisa, Lorence, and Laney for the lunch buffet.  The kids had fun, and we went over to their house afterwards and the kids played.  I was able to feed Daniel before we got on the road to Columbia and visit with Lisa, so it was nice.

I got on the interstate around 1:45, so the boys could sleep during the drive up to Columbia.  On the way up, I saw a sign saying "expect long delays: Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival June 15-19."  I didn't realize that it was this weekend.  For those of you who haven't heard of Bonaroo, it's like the Woodstock of the 21st century.  One year, Aaron and I were going on vacation and left around 11:00 pm, and saw all of these cars backed up on I-24 going toward Nashville, but they were on the shoulder, getting off the next exit.  Then, on the other side of the interstate, from that exit and the next 20 miles, we saw cars just parked on the interstate.  There were people out walking around, and we had no idea what was going on.  Then we found out about Bonaroo.   So, when I saw that sign, I knew I need to go another way.  I went backroads, which were very pretty, and it took me only about 20 more minutes.

When we got there, Caleb went with Papa to go see his new truck that he bought.  It had just arrived at the dealership, so Caleb was excited to go.  When they got back, he kept talking about it and all the buttons it had and what they did.  It was cute.

6/13/06-  Today the boys and I headed to Chattanooga to run to some stores.  I had to run to several stores picking up various things, like a new filter for our vacuum, an outfit for my cousin's wedding, and formula packets that I can only get at Target.  I like to have those little packets on hand if I'm out and need Aaron or someone else to feed Daniel.  They're better for me than the can, because the can of formula expires within a month from the time you open it, and I don't use a whole can a month, so I'd be wasting so much.  So, it's better for me to use these individual packets.  Target is the only place I can find them.

Since we were out for most of the day, I had planned on taking Caleb to McDonald's, because they are giving out the different "Cars" characters in the happy meals.  He was so excited!  He got Mater, the tow truck, whose voice is Larry the Cable Guy.  We had gotten him the main red "Lightning McQueen" car for his birthday, so I was hoping that he would get Mater, and he did!

After a long day of shopping, we headed home and the boys both fell asleep in the van, which was nice!  I ended up going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Marshalls, A.C. Moore Crafts, Kohl's, and Target.  It was a good day.

6/11/06-  This morning we went to Sweeten's Cove- 2nd Sunday of the month.  Things went well and Caleb enjoyed sitting with one of the ladies there.  He always asks us before church, "can I sit with somebody?"  It's so cute.  But, it does help to have him sit with someone when we're there, because I usually have to go back and feed Daniel while Aaron is preaching, so it works out well for everyone.

The last couple months we've been going up to a small church up on Monteagle on the evenings of the 2nd Sunday of the month.  One, because the church up there is a small group, and they need encouragement.  Two, it's about the same distance to Chattanooga, just the opposite direction.  And three:  we get home so late from Sweeten's Cove since they start later, and it's just easier on the boys.

6/10/06-  Today I made a chore chart and behavior chart for Caleb.  He has been wanting to help more around the house, so Aaron and I thought we'd make up a chart for him, so he could keep track of what jobs he can do around the house.  Also, his behavior has improved in many ways in the last month (some areas still need improvement!).  So, we thought we'd make up a good behavior chart, where he gets to put up stickers when he has good behavior throughout the day.  Caleb loves stickers, so this really motivates him.  We did a chart last year for him when he was potty training, and had him put up stickers when he made it to the potty and stayed dry, and he loved it!  So, he's really enjoying his chores!  When it's time to put stickers on the chart, he'll say, "Yippee!!  Yee haw!!  I get to put stickers on my chart!!"  The other neat thing is that I found a website where you can put characters on the chart, and guess what?  They had Thomas the train!!  They also had Veggies Tales, so we did the chore chart as Veggie Tales, and the behavior chart as Thomas.

6/9/06-  This morning, we got up and out early, because Aaron had an early appointment to get x-rays done of his sinus.  He's gonna have to start going to an allergist daily for shots because his allergies are so bad.  Hopefully it will help him in the long run.

After his appointment, we went over to clean the downstairs of the church building.  We finished up in time to grab a quick and inexpensive lunch from Wendy's, and then headed over to LFO, GA to go see the new movie CARS!!!  It was GREAT!!!!!  Caleb has been so excited about it coming out, so we figured we'd go for the opening day and go to a matinee.  Caleb wore his "Lightbing McQueen" shirt (he's the red race car in the movie) and brought his little race car in the van with him.  It wasn't too crowded where we went, which was good.  We had agreat time and both boys really enjoyed it.  Daniel was ready for a nap halfway through it, so Aaron got him to sleep for about 20 minutes sitting there while we watched the movie.  It was a lot of fun and just a great movie.

6/8/06- This evening we ran down to Chickamauga, GA to Aaron's old school for him to return something and sign a few papers.  It was nice to visit with the people there.  Then, we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner- Aaron had received a gift certificate from a coach that he's been helping out the last couple weeks.  We had a good dinner and the boys were good.  Then, we headed over to the Creative Discovery Museum for Free Family Night.  I didn't know if they would be doing the free nights this summer, but a friend at church found out that they were going to have them!  We had a good time.  Caleb enjoyed all of the different activities. I carried Daniel around in my Snugli pouch, with him facing outward so he could see everything.  He didn't make a peep- just enjoyed what was going on!

6/7/06-  Today, the boys and I spent some time outside after lunch.  Daniel spent about an 45 minutes outside, and then I took him in for his nap, but Caleb stayed out with me longer.  He played in the backyard while I mowed.  It's so nice that he can play by himself.  He got his little plastice watering jug and water some of the plants- he was so cute!  After I mowed, I had little pieces of grass all over my legs, so I asked Caleb if he wanted to spray each other with the hose.  Well, he said "no" - yeah, right!!!  He LOVES it when we do this!!  It is one of his favorite things to do.  He loves running through the "waterfall" and seeing the rainbow that the water makes.  We had a good time, and finally it was time to go inside and get showers and have him lay down for a nap before we went to church.  Well, then I noticed that Caleb's hair was getting kind of long, so I decided to get out our new clippers and trim up his hair before his shower. Woops!!  Wow that thing is powerful!!  It'll take me a few tries to get use to it, but thankfully his hair grows fast.

6/5/06-  Daniel is 6 months old already!!!  We went for his 6 month check-up and he weighed in at 18 LBS. and was 27" long!!!  This is exactly what Caleb was at 9 months old.  I have looked back at Caleb's first year calendar, and Daniel has been whatever Caleb was the previous appointment.  When we went for Daniel's 2 month check-up, he was almost exactly the same weight and length as Caleb at 4 months.  When we went for Daniel's 4 month, same weight and length as Caleb at 6 months.  So now, we're curious to see at Daniel's 9-month check-up if he will be 20 lbs. and 28 and 3/4" long, like Caleb was at 12 months!!

6/3/06-  We had a fun breakfast this morning: eggs, bacon, pancakes- Caleb's favorite!  We emptied a few more boxes for Mom and Dad and let the boys play and have lunch and then we headed on the road so they could sleep for their afternoon nap.  It was a great visit and I'm so excited they live closer now.  Caleb was sad about leaving, but he doesn't understand yet that we're going to them much more often since they're closer.

We got home and emptied suitcases and had dinner.  After dinner, I had Daniel on a blanket and he finally rolled over from back to belly!!  (see video)  He has been trying it for so long, but hasn't been able to fully get over that arm when he tries it.  But, tonight, he did it!  He is really starting to push up and want to go places, so we'll have to see what happens!

6/2/06-  We had planned to head back home today, but Aaron just felt horrible.  His allergies have really been bothering him and I think there so bad that he has actually made a doctor's appointment.  So, since he wasn't feeling good, we decided to stay an extra day.  It gave mom and I a chance to go out to some stores that she was wanting to go to.  We had a good time and she was able to get some new towels for the bathrooms.

Aaron felt better in the evening, so after dinner we went out for ice cream at a local place.  They had a Food Lion right next door, so we got a couple of things we needed that were on sale there and then headed home.

6/1/06-  Today we decided to take a break from the boxes and go to one of the parks!  The Maury County park is only about 15 minutes from them, and one of the members at church told us that they have a whole train track throughout the park where people bring little steam engines.  Well, do you know someone who likes trains?  Needless to say, Caleb loved it.  They didn't have the trains, because they have certain weekends during certain months when they bring them to the tracks.  But, we got to see the station and the HUGE layout of the track that they have.  It's one of the largest in the country.  They also had a big playground called Kids Kingdom and Caleb had fun playing on that.  Papa went out to get lunch from Wendy's and we ate under one of the pavilions there by the playground.  Then we drove around the park to see what else they had.  They had about 4 other pavilions with picnic tables and playgrounds by each pavilion.  It was really nice.  We're going to find out what the dates are for when the trains are there and come back that weekend.

Aaron came this afternoon and it was great to see him.   Papa, Caleb, and Aaron played baseball outside in the backyard.  Caleb did a great job hitting balls.  And of course, after dinner, he sat on the back porch and ate another popsicle!

5/31/06-  Tonight we went to church where Mom and Dad are considering going.  It's only 10 minutes from their house!  That's so different for them, after they've driven an hour and 15 minutes the last 7 years!  It's a great congregation.  Caleb enjoyed Bible Class.  He's always so excited to go, and I'm so glad he loves it.

5/30/06-  I love the front and back porches of my parent's house.  Dad found some boxes in the garage that had some of our old toys, so Caleb had fun playing with them out on the porch.  All those great old Fisher Price toys, like the house, the barn, the chalkboard and letters.  They still have them, and it's so neat to watch Caleb play with them...well, okay, it's fun for me to play with them again, too!!

Dad made a tunnel out of wardrobe boxes for Caleb and he thought it was the coolest thing.  Mom and Dad and I spent a lot of time getting boxes opened and moved around and trying to find needed items.  We had to get boxes moved away from any windows in the rooms, because the lady was coming to put up the blinds at 3:30pm!  And Mom and Dad had to leave to go fax something at the bank for the closing on the house in NJ.  So while the boys were napping, I moved a lot of things around so the lady could put the blinds up in the great room.  They also ran to the store to pick up groceries, diapers for Daniel (because I knew I was going to run out before we left!), and a few other things.  One of the things they brought home were popsicles, so Caleb was excited about that.  He asked after dinner if he could have one, so he and Papa went out on the back porch and had popsicles.

Caleb has all the sudden wanted to start trying different foods that he has said all along that he doesn't like.  For instance, he asked to try egg at breakfast, and then asked to try broccoli at dinner!  I was so impressed!  Maybe he'll come around after all!
