1/20/06- Well, the last few days have been busy. I've been trying to work on some things in the house and spend time with the boys. The boys are doing pretty good. Daniel is growing like crazy- probably up to 12 pounds by now! Caleb has his moments of "acting out," but for the most part, is being good. He is really good about holding the stroller when we go out. It's so cute to watch him: sometimes I forget that his legs are shorter than mine, and I'll just be pushing the stroller at a my normal quick pace, and I'll look down, and his is doing a little jog, holding the stroller and keeping up with me!! He never complains; it's like he likes the little jog he's getting! I try to slow down a little bit for him, but I really need to tape it sometime, if I can, because it's so funny to watch him!
1/16/06- What a great day!! Aaron was off today from school and I had my 6 week checkup at Dr.Brody's, so we all went. It was good to see Dr. Brody again. Caleb always enjoys seeing him and talking to him, and he always enjoys talking with Caleb. Caleb looks forward to the lollipop that he gets at the end of the visit. He never forgets about the "treat bucket" at Dr. Brody's!!
After the appointment, we asked Caleb where he wanted to eat, and he said "Chick-Fil-A," so we headed over to Hamilton Place, by the mall, to go eat. Caleb had so much fun playing in the play area. We would watch him as we ate- he would climb all the way up to the top and go down the slide, and then jump up and down once he got out, so excited and proud of himself. We'd give him a "thumbs up" and he'd give one back, and then run back to the steps to do it again! After playing for awhile, he was ready to eat- guess he worked up an appetite! Then, after he ate his little chicken nuggets, he was back in the play area!
Since we were by the mall, we went over and I looked at some things for our bedroom and bathroom while Aaron took Caleb to the indoor play area in the mall. We all got to do what we wanted: Caleb played, Aaron sat and relaxed (watching Caleb), I shopped, and Daniel slept!! Aaron will probably disagree with the last sentence about him "getting to do what he wanted. Aaron is NOT a "mall-person," but he was very good and we met up after I had shopped and got some coffee and took Caleb over to see the motorized train and track setup that they have upstairs in the mall. It's an enclosed train track with trains that you can put a quarter in and watch control the speed of the trains as they go around the track. He loves it!For dinner, we met Josh and Rachele and the kids at Cracker Barrel and had a nice visit with them. Overall, it was a great day and it was so nice for all of us to be together!
1/15/06- They made it back safely!! Yeah! Daniel and I are glad Aaron and Caleb are back home. Caleb, of course, wanted to play with his Thomas the train stuff, since he hadn't been able to play with it in 3 days!
Tomorrow, Daniel will be 6 weeks old, and we're going to Dr. Brody's office for my 6-week check-up. Aaron has the day off, so it will be nice for all of us to be together for the day!
1/14/06- Aaron and Caleb are doing well in North Carolina and enjoying being family. Caleb called me this afternoon, and talked to me for about 5 minutes. It was so cute! He told me what they were doing, and the places they had been, and the people he had met. Just a little conversationalist!! They'll be coming back after morning services.
1/12/06- Aaron and Caleb headed to North Carolina today. Aaron's great aunt (on his dad's side) passed away, so Aaron took Caleb with him, because his dad will be there and they haven't seen him in awhile. Aaron grew up going on vacation in North Carolina with a lot of his dad's family, so it will be good for him to be there with his cousins. Aaron and I thought it would be too hard to bring Daniel on a trip like that, so I stayed home with Daniel. So it's just me and Daniel for a few days!!
1/11/06- Daniel weighs 11 lbs. 4 oz. now at only 5 and 1/2 weeks!! I took the boys to the doctor just to check on some things that I was concerned about- nothing majorly wrong, but just that "motherly instinct" wanting to check and make sure everything was okay with both of them. I knew Daniel was probably over 10 pounds, but I didn't think he had hit 11 pounds yet! He's also grown to 22 and 1/2 inches long! So, he's doing great!
Caleb has now hit the 30 pound mark! He just seems so much heavier, after we've been holding Daniel, and then we pick him up!! He's doing great as well.
1/9/06- Daniel did really well last night with sleeping. He slept in his crib after each feeding and didn't really cry when I put him back down to go to sleep! That's the problem we've been having the last few weeks. He's done long stretches between feedings, off and on, like one night he'll eat at 11pm, and then wake-up around 4:15am or 5:30am- one time he actually ate at 11pm and didn't wake up until 6am!! But, he usually just cries after the late feeding (which is anytime between 10 and 11pm). So, last night, he ate at 10:15pm and then laid down and fell asleep within a few minutes, on his own! And then he didn't wake up to eat again until 3:00am! Then, went right back to sleep after that feeding, and woke up again at 6am, and we started our day after that feeding. He's pretty much doing what Caleb did, and Caleb started sleeping through the night, from 10-6 or 7, consistently at 7 weeks old. We'll see what this little guy does!!
1/8/06- This is the second Sunday of the month, when Aaron preaches at the little country church outside of South Pittsburg. The boys both did great! I usually teach Caleb for Bible Class, because it's an older group with no kids, and I want to keep him on the same lesson that he is learning where we go regularly at North Terrace. I was wondering how this was going to work now with having Daniel, but it went fine. I just brought him in his carrier, and he just looked around, and Caleb stayed on task pretty well, without being too distracted with what his little brother was doing, and how cute he is!! Both boys ended up falling asleep during services, which was nice. Wow- actually able to sit and listen to a whole sermon! It's been a while since I've been able to do that!
1/6/06- Today, the boys and I ran errands- paying bills, mailing letters and bills, going to the Marion County Education Centeral Office, Wal-mart, and then went to Lisa and Lorence's house to play. It was fun to go to Lisa's house. Caleb and Lorence got to play, and Lisa and I got to talk and hold each other's babies, and Laney and Daniel slept!! It was good for all of us! For those of you who don't know, Lisa is the P.E. teacher at my school and we've become great friends since the year we both started teaching at SPES. Her daugher, Lorence, and Caleb are 6 weeks apart, and now her daughter, Laney, and Daniel are 2 weeks apart.
We went to Wal-mart to get Caleb's Thomas the train calendar. He has seen it at Wal-mart for the last month, and I told him the other day that we would go get it. When we were at the mall on Tuesday, I tried getting one from those stands that have all of their calendars 50% off after the new year, but they were all out of Thomas the train. I like to get a calendar each year just for him in a theme that he likes during that time in his life, and fill in things that he does and places he goes each day, so he (and I!) can go back and look to see (and remember) what he did on a certain dates throughout the year. It's easy to save calendars, because they are thin, and it just takes writing a little bit in that day's square to remember something special. I have his "Baby's first year" calendar in Little Suzy's Zoo, because that's what we did his nursery in, and last year was The Wiggles, because last year he was really into The Wiggles, and this year, he's really into Thomas the train! Who knows what it will be next year!! Before Daniel was born, I found a "Baby's First year" calendar that came in a pack with "Baby's second year" calendar. So, I plan on doing the same for him! By the time these boys leave home, they will have written down what they did almost every day of their lives!!
1/5/06- Daniel is 1-month old today! Wow- it has flown by!! Things are going well. I'm enjoying being home with the boys very much. Caleb is doing well as a big brother, a big helper to Mommy, and entertaining himself with his many toys from Christmas! While Daniel naps, I try to get things done and also play one on one with Caleb. It's working out well!
1/3/06- First big adventure out with the boys today, by myself! It went GREAT! Daniel pretty much slept the whole time, and Caleb was EXCELLENT! We talked before we left, about how he needed to be the big boy and hold onto the stroller when we were going places, and he did. I'd tell him how great he was being and that I was so proud of him, and he would say, "I'm being a great boy, Mommy!" It was so cute!! I went to Chattanooga, to Kohl's and the mall to exchange a few things for different sizes, since Daniel is growing so much! Caleb wanted to go to Target, so we went to Target for a little bit. I'm figuring out that he wants to go to the stores that he knows carry Thomas the train! In Chattanooga, there's a strip that has Target, Goody's, and Kohl's, and he'll say, "Target has Thomas. Goody's doesn't have Thomas. Does Kohl's have Thomas, Mommy?" We went to McDonald's for lunch, and actually just went through the drive-thru, because it was time for Daniel to eat, so I got Caleb his chicken nuggets and fries and had him eat while I fed Daniel. It worked great! So, now I feel good about going out with two kids! I passed the test! Yeah!!
1/1/06- 2006!! Happy New Year to everyone! And happy anniversary to me and Aaron!! 7 years!! We've been married for 7 years, and they have been the best 7 years. God has truly blessed us in so many ways. For one, he's blessed us with each other, and also with these 2 wonderful and beautiful, healthy boys. We have a wonderful life and I can't imagine it without Aaron. He's the best and I love him so much! I thank God that we have had these 7 years of marriage, and I pray that he continues to bless us.
Mom and Dad headed back to New Jersey today. It's been great having them. Now, it's really just the 4 of us! Oh boy!!
12/31/05- Aaron really enjoyed the USF Bowl game and he made it home safely- yeah!!
12/30/05- Aaron headed to Charlotte, NC with a buddy of his, to go the USF's first Bowl Game!! He's so excited, because USF is his favorite college team, since he grew up in Tampa, FL, and it is his first football game to see of USF's, because they've only had their team for 7 years. The game is Saturday, so I know he'll have a blast!
12/29/05- Just our family today! My mom and dad went up to Nashville for the day, so the 4 of us got to spend the day together. We didn't do anything special- just enjoyed being together!! Mom and Dad will be leaving after church on Sunday, January 1st, so it will soon be the 4 of us.
12/27/05- Tonight Aaron and I went out for our anniversary. My mom and dad watched the boys, and we went to Scottsboro, AL to Ruby Tuesday's to eat. We had a great time! It was very relaxing and the food was great, as usual. Our anniversary is actually on Sunday, January 1st. But, my parents will be heading back home Friday or Saturday, and with the "free babysitting," we wanted to go ahead and go out now!! We also went to pick up some things at Wal-mart and I talked him into going next door to Goody's and I found some tops while I was in there. For those of you who really know Aaron, him walking into a store is a big deal, so I was excited when he said he had some things to get at Wal-Mart!
12/26/05- Today my grandmother and 2 cousins came down for the day from Dickson, TN. It was great to see them and we had a great visit. We all had fun with the boys- Caleb's personality came right through and Daniel slept most of the time, but was wide awake when they first came, and when they left.
My cousin, David, plays the piano exceptionally well, and he played some pieces of music on the piano that Sandi (Aaron's mom) "passed on" to us. It was neat to hear it played, and Sandi even got to hear it with today's wonderful technology. We setup my dad's laptop with the webcam, and since my mom and dad got us a router for Christmas, we are now wireless!! Sandi said she felt like she was in our living room, since she was able to view us on the webcam and hear the piano played.
12/25/05- Daniel made it to church both for morning and evening services today. We just made sure he was really bundled up good. We all got naps in the afternoon, because yesterday wore us all out!!
12/24/05- What a great Christmas!! Caleb got so much Thomas the train stuff from Nana and Papa, he's just in awe! The new battery operated trains that go on his new track have been running all day. Daniel and Caleb both got lots of new clothes, which Caleb will be able to grow into and wear soon, and Daniel's clothes, we think we're going to have to exchange for bigger ones, because he's outgrowing 0-3months stuff like crazy!!!
My Dad made a great dinner- Prime Rib, Twice Baked Potatoes, Carrots, Broccoli- it was very tasty! Very good day!!
12/23/05- I made a big mistake today. I went to Wal-Mart! It was absolutely CRAZY!!! Caleb went with me and we just had a couple things to get. He was so good, but he was ready to get out of there just like me!
In the evening, we went to a surprise birthday party and had a great time. It was great to be with our close friends and celebrate a special birthday!
Tomorrow we will have Christmas! I can't wait to see Caleb's face!
