3/14/08- Papa Goodall came down so he and Gigi and Papa O could move all of the boxes we have packed so far, along with all of the light furniture we're not using. When we came home, half the house was gone! They were able to move so much over and now the Jasper house looks so empty! In 2 weeks, the guys from church will help us move everything else over. This move is really taking off!
3/11/08- Packing, packing, packing! Every chance we can!
3/5/08- Today, Caleb was tested for the AR program at school- accelerated reader. He's been doing so well with his reading and Aaron really wanted him tested, so we spoke with his teacher and the librarian to see about having him tested. Well, he did even better than we thought. His teacher literally came to me, running, to let me know how he did. According to the test, he is reading on a 2nd grade/3rd month level. I thought maybe 1st grade, but it turns out, he's reading on a 2nd grade level. This child absolutely amazes me.
They are allowing him to check out 2nd grade level books and test on them in the library after he finishes breakfast. He's excited to check out books, but I know he has no idea what he's doing. He just thinks he's reading books and playing on the computer.
2/25/08- Okay, we are all well and back at school now!
2/23/08- WE SOLD THE JASPER HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! And we got what we asked for it and the guy waived the inspection and will pay closing costs! What a dream offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing is, we setup the closing for March 31st- only 5 weeks away! Luckily, I've already started packing some stuff and moving things over. Since we already have the new house, the move should work out well.
Wow- our house sold in 7 weeks in this rough market!!!
2/19-2/22/08- I went ahead and took the rest of the week off. I just couldn't chance it each morning with Daniel. He didn't have the flu again, but he had something. Even though he was sick, we had some good time together.
2/18/08- President's Day- no school! Today I had another appointment with Dr. Brody. Caleb stayed the night with Gigi and Papa O, so it was just Daniel and Aaron and I. Everything still looks great, which we are so thankful for.
After the appointment, we went over to Sears to pick out an oven for the new house. Yay!! We had been researching a lot online and found that Kenmore had a reasonable convection oven with a lot of bonus features. We got that ordered and then looked at fridges, just in case ours sells with the Jasper house.
While we were there, we noticed that Daniel felt warm. I cannot believe how much sickness we have had with the boys this winter. It's just been awful this year! I picked up Caleb and we headed home. I called the doctor to tell them about Daniel, because I was worried that Daniel might have the flu again, because he was acting the same as did when he had it a few weeks ago. I made an appointment for the next day, because they were booking up fast. I have taken so many days off this month, but I have them, thankfully.
2/16/08- We all went over to the house today. Gigi and Papa O were clearing out the brush and trees in the backyard. All of the neighbors around us came over to meet us, which was so nice. This is going to be such a great neighborhood. Lots of great people with kids!
2/14/08- No school! So the boys and I went to the new house to work on some stuff. I had the carpet guys come to stretch the carpets upstairs in the bedrooms and bonus room. Our neighbors from next door came over and met us and they are so nice! They have 5 kids- 4 girls and 1 boy. There is a girl the same age as Caleb and a boy just a few years older than Caleb. By the end of the day, they were all playing outside. It will be so nice when we officially move over!
2/13/08 - I let Caleb go back to school today, because he didn't have the fever anymore and was feeling much better. However, we found out today that they are closing school tomorrow and Friday, because of illness in the county. Hopefully everyone can get well.
2/11/08- They brought Caleb to me today at school saying he had a fever. I hope it's not the flu. I made an appointment at the doctor just to make sure, because it is going around all over. He came back negative, but we'll keep him in until he feels better.
2/3/08- Daniel's fever was down today! Yay! First day with no fever! I'm so glad he's feeling better. He's starting to get back to his old self- and his old eating habits!
2/1/08- Poor Daniel. He woke up again early this morning just burning up. The high fever was back and he was miserable again. I just kept Caleb home today, but kept him totally separated from Daniel. I hope Caleb doesn't get it- or the rest of us. I did get my flu shot in November, but found out that it was only 40% effective this year.
Gigi and Papa O came over today to work on the house and also watch the boys while we went for the closing on the new house. That was a big help. I had to run to the bank to wire the money for the closing and then meet Kam at the house for the walk-thru. Everything went well and by 6pm, we owned 2 houses!!!
After the closing, I ran over to have the electricity turned on, because when we were at the walk-thru, they had already turned everything off. But, when I got to the electric company, the lady said it was still in service and not supposed to be turned off until Tuesday. Weird- and she thought so, too. This lady was so nice, though. She saw my address and told me she lived near me and that if it wasn't on when I got back to the house, to come by her house so she could call someone. How nice! Well, when I got to the house, it was officially off, so I went by and she called someone. We really wanted to get it on, because it was supposed to be freezing through the weekend. Everything worked out and I'm so thankful for this lady and her help.
1/31/08- Oh, my sweet Daniel. He woke up around 4am absolutely burning up. Scared me to death. He was delirious and just crying- I felt so bad for him. I knew I would have to take the day, but I wanted to get Caleb to school so I could deal with Daniel and take him to the doctor. I got both boys dressed and got them their drinks for the van, and Daniel didn't even want his. He didn't want anything. That's when I know it's serious with Daniel, especially even he won't even take a drink.
We got Caleb to school and Daniel cried the whole way there. He did fall asleep on the way home and I was able to get him up to his bed. He is just pitiful. I have never seen him so sick. We went to the doctor at 10:30am and he was absolutely miserable. His fever was up to 105 and I was in tears. They did a flu test on him, and sure enough, he came back positive for the flu. I was so worried that we were going to have to put him in the hospital, because his fever was so high and he just wasn't drinking. Dr. Fox talked to me about everything and told me to alternate the Motrin and Tylenol every 3 hours to bring the fever down and do my best to get him to drink- even popsicles. He wrote out a prescription for Thermaflu for Daniel and also a preventative one for Caleb.
After the appointment, I dropped the prescriptions off at Wal-mart and got Daniel some popsicles. Thankfully, he had one and then started to drink his juice. I went ahead and picked Caleb up from school while I was over that way. There's so much sickness going around the school, too. Caleb was so sweet. He just kept saying, "I feel so bad for Daniel." Caleb has such a big heart.
Daniel started feeling a little better by the evening and his fever did come down some. I pray that this flu doesn't last long and that he can get some comfort.
1/30/08- Today, I went to pick up Daniel from daycare and they were taking his temperature. They said he felt warm when they got him up from his nap and sure enough, he had a 101 degree fever. But, he was in a great mood. I kept him in from church tonight just to be safe. We'll see what happens...
1/24/08- People have been looking at the house each week, and that is very encouraging. It will be in the home book in February, so hopefully that will get even more showings.
The boys are doing well. Daniel is talking more and more. He cracks us up when we tell him about something, and then he responds with a surprising, "oh!" just like an adult. It's so cute!
Caleb is doing so much better in school with his behavior. It seems like since we've come back from the holidays, he's been on "best blue" each day and been in the treasure chest every week! Go Caleb!
1/21/08- Another appointment with Dr. Brody! This time, he says he's 99% sure it's a girl! That's good with me! I was still holding out since he only said 95% sure last time, but 99% sure makes me feel even better. He said she's doing great! I'm still not gaining that much. I think I only gained 3 pounds. I'm barely showing, but the clothes are starting to get a little snug. The next few weeks will be interesting with clothes, because maternity clothes look huge on me!!
1/18/08- Tonight we had fun playing games with Nana and Papa before bed. Tomorrow we are going to go over to the house and check it out and show Nana and Papa.
The boys went to bed fine and then I heard that dreaded sound just 2 hours later. I heard Caleb coughing, but it wasn't because he had a cold. He was throwing up. I knew as soon as I heard him start screaming and crying what had happened. Poor thing. He just cannot stand to get sick. We got him cleaned up and back to bed and he threw up a couple more times during the night, but was able to do it in the trash can by his bed. It breaks my heart to hear him say, "I'm having a horrible night."
1/17/08- Nana and Papa came down for a few days so they can see the house. We can't wait to show them!
1/14/08- After several counteroffers back and forth, we finally got the price we were aiming for and got the house!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! We are very excited!
