November 28, 2006- Over due update on Dimitri. I know it has been a very long time since I last updated the story on Dimitri. Life got really hetic all at once. But, I now have the time to update and there is a lot of info. Dimitri recently had a hearing test done to be sure that hearing loss was not the cause of his speech delay. He passed his hearing test with flying colors despite being a little crabby that morning. Dimitri has been involved in speech and occupational therapy for 6 months now. He's improved greatly in both areas. His attention span for sitting down and doing activities such as drawing, cutting paper, using building blocks/legos, and doing puzzles is better. He can say more words such as bye bye, cars, help, he says and signs more, juice, please, thank you, and welcome. Those are just a few examples of the words that Dimitri has learned since his last update. Today I took Dimitri to get weighed and his height done in which he weighs 33.6 lbs and is 38 inches tall. On August 15 Dimitri turned 2 yrs old. For his birthday party he had the theme of Thomas the train. All had gathered for his birthday party and had a blast. Dimitri got some puzzles, books, cars, and a couple outfits for his birthday. Pictures will be added to his website as soon as possible.
June 16, 2006- Each day that passes Dimitri grows more and more, which is to be expected I suppose. Not only is he growing, but he's becoming more independant. Today for instance when I was preparing to give him I bath I asked him to take off his clothes, in which he was able to take off his shorts and diaper with a little assistance. Then I told him to sit on his potty, which to my surprise he did so and actually went in it. I'm very proud of him, with a little more practice he'll be using it more and more and be out of diapers soon. He also is able to take his diapers and throw them in the trash can by himself. His favorite things to do however is play with his cars, ride his little motorcycle and tractor around the kitchen.
Every other week Dimitri has therapists come visit him, one of them is a speech and the other is an occupational therapist. Dimitri understands a lot of things, but he is a little slow on the speaking and some basic interaction skills. With each visit he is improving both areas. To date Dimitri is able to say "more, mine, buddy, momma, aunt dawn (sounds close enough to it), nana, yes, no, quack, uh oh, ouch and bye bye." He's really trying to talk, which is a very good thing, though I will admit I am a little scared as to what he will be saying when he really gets the hang of things. Eh only time will tell, so for now this concludes this story entry.
March 19, 2006- On wensday March 8, my sister and I took Dimitri to the doctors for his 18 month check up, in which he ended up getting one shot. At the appointment Dimitri weighed 29 lbs and 4 ounces and he was 35 1/4 inches long. He's lost a couple pounds from his last appoinment, but isn't nothing to worry about, it's just because he's growing taller in length. Since Dimitri's isn't saying very many words (should be saying at least 10 or 15 words at a year and half) she's suggested I call and get him evaluated to make sure nothing is wrong. After the doctors appoinment we took Dimitri to get some blood work, which he really didn't appreciate all that much, but then again Aunt Dawn bought him some McDonalds for being such a big boy.
January 27, 2006- Yesterday my sister and I had to take Dimitri to the doctor because he was coughing badly and cried everytime he did. Since his cousin had strep the previous week, thought oh no this isn't good, so wanted to get him checked out. Once the doctor looked at him she told us that he had croup. She also told us that children his age aren't prone to strep, which was a sigh of relief for me. While we were there they also weighed him and I was shocked to find out that he weighed 30 lbs and 4 ounces. G-R-O-W-I-N-G boy. The beginning of Feb, is when I have to call to schedule his 18 month check up to find out his height and see how much weight he gained. But all in all he seems to be a healthy happy boy, when he's not sick.
December 8, 2005- Today since it was fairly nice outside I decided that I would take Dimitri outside to see what he thinks of the snow. Last year I thought he was to little to take outside and play in the snow, so I didn't. I let him walk around in the driveway to see what he would do. Eventually he made it over to the yard where the snow was piled up because papa had just plowed yesterday. He got his feet in the snow and bent down to look at it, put his gloved hands into it. I think he might of even sniffed it because his face got awful clothes to it. Anyways, he just stood there looking all around him until I took his hand and helped him walk into it. Well needless to say he didn't like that to much probably because it was to hard to walk in it. I thought it would be a cute idea to help him make a snow angel and get it on cam-corder so I laid him down in the snow, but all he did was cry. Goodness gracious my lil boy dun like snow...I wonder where he gets it from?
On a side note, if you ask Dimitri where his belly is he will lift up his shirt and poke his belly and if you ask him where his ears are he will tug on them a little. He almost looks like a lil elf when he does that.
December 6, 2005- Dimitri got his first hair cut on December 1st 2005 at famous hair. Instead of just putting the lock of hair in a baggie and giving it to you, they gave him a certificate that says "My first hair cut. This certifies that Dimitri Ryan Fisher has bravely fulfilled all of the requirements of his first haircut and is hereby recognized as a graduate from the ranks of the uncut. This haircut took place at Famous Hair and was performed by Katie on this day 12/1/05." There are two locks of hair taped to this certificate. He looks so much better with his new hair cut. The lady that cut it said he did a very nice job when she used the electric trimmer because usually as soon as they turn it on the kids are screaming and crying. But Dimitri's just sat there and played with the steering wheel of the little car he was sitting in. Momma is so proud of you baby boy.
November 14, 2005- Of course I haven't been updating this as much as I would like to. With things at the firehall being so busy I sometimes forget this is here. Not a whole lot to update on, except Dimitri went trick or treating this year. Even though he's only 14 months, I figured he deserved to get out and about for his second Halloween. As you can tell from the pictures he was a clown. A cute clown I must say, even without the red nose. Believe me I did try to paint his nose red, but he kept wipping his nose and getting it everywhere. Dimitri went trick or treating with cousin Mitchell, Aunt Dawn, Aunt Toni, Uncle Brian and Ella. Of course momma was there too. While we were out a firetruck from Fairfield was handing out candy so Dimitri got to go up to the firetruck and see all the lights running. Although he didn't know what to think.
Dimitri is still unable to drink juice, which kinda sucks. Hopefully he will grow out of that stage. Even though Dimitri is about 15 months he hasn't had his first hair cut yet. I'm looking to take him to get that done when he's around 18 months. But that depends on how fast his hair grows. On Sunday Novemeber 13, Dimitri started walking down steps so he's getting very brave. He's very good at walking as well because he can walk backwards and run. His favorite thing to do is run around in circles, especially when your laying on the floor. He'll run around you and if your not looking at him he will crouch down infront of you and laugh.
Well I guess that's all for now, I shall try harder to keep this better updated.
October 7, 2005- Dimitri is nearly 14 months now and is growing like a weed. On tuesday October 4, Dimitri got his blood drawn for the first time. I was very surprised at how well behaved he was during the whole ordeal. He cried a little bit when they stuck him with the needle but he didn't move around a lot at all. I'm so proud of my baby boy, he's so brave. On Wensday October 5 Dimitri went to the doctors for his one year check up. When weighed he was 28 lbs. and 3 ounces. His length is 33 1/4. He was given four shots, two in each leg, instead of just two shots. Since they gave him the four shots he doesn't have to go back to the doctors until he is 18 months. Woohoo he gets a break from getting poked and hurted. Dimitri is doing an excellent job at walking, he's able to walk up the two steps we have in our house. As expected he's unsure about walking down steps, which is a good thing cause we don't need him getting hurt. He's able to feed himself as well when it comes to picking up food with his fingers. We still need to work on him using a spoon during meal time. Dimitri is able to babble words such as momma, nana, papa and a couple other things we haven't been able to make out yet. When you say bye byes he will wave goodbye and when you say all done he will take his hands and turn them upside down to his sides while they are in the air. When you ask him if he wants to go to bed he will walk down to his room and stand at his crib. If your not fast enough getting him in there he will shake the crib and yell a lil. His favorite thing to do is to take a bath because when you ask him if he wants a bath he goes "hmm" and walks down to the bathroom and if one of his toys is in there he will throw it in the bathtub. Dimitri is able to climb into a couple chairs at the house all by himself. As you can tell his growing up real fast and hopefully he will be a handsome little boy.
September 1, 2005- Guess who turned one on August 15th!!! Well Dimitri is officially 1 year old and I couldn't be happier. Not only is my baby boy growing up so fast, but he also surprised everyone on Sunday August 14th, by taking his first steps alone and walking. Yupperz ladies and gents beware because the baby is on the prowl and walking all over the place. I must say it was a wonderful birthday surprise having him walk the day before his first birthday. To date Dimitri has 7 teeth and goodness gracious I must admit that they really hurt when he bites. No more baby food for him because he would much rather have mashed potatoes and spaghttios. He's drinking whole milk and a lot of it. We pretty much go through two gallons of milk a week. A lot I know, but I can tell ya he'll become one strong lil boy as he gets older.
On August 27, 2005 I threw Dimitri's his first birthday party. The theme for the party was bears and goodness were there a lot of bear stuff in site. His guests were momma, nana, papa, cousins Karrissa, Morgan, and Mitchell. Aunts Dawn, Tammy, and Kerri. Uncles David and Denny and mama's boyfriend Mike. Dimitri had two cakes to play in and oh goodness did he make a huge mess. He got so messy that he had to take two baths because he played in one cake so those who had to leave his party early got to see him eat his first cake. Then after that he had a bath, once the rest of his guests arrived momma helped him blow out his candle and he had another piece of cake and got messy again. After that he had to have another bath. After his second bath we went into the living room and he opened his presents. Uncle Denny and Aunt Tammy and the girls got Dimitri a toy fire truck that honks the horn and moves on it's own when you push the fireman. Papa and Nana got him a toy piano that has characters dancing and playing instruments when you push on the keys. Uncle Dave and Aunt Kerri got him two outfits which had something to do with racing on them. They also got him a pillow in the shape of a car. Momma got him two summery outfits and two new books for him to listen to at bed time. Mike got Dimitri two outfits with fire trucks on them. After he opened his gifts Dimitri had a blast playing with the balloons that nana and papa had bought for his party. It was a great birthday party for a special little boy.
Well I guess that is all the update for right now, I shall be updating again shortly because he has his one year check up at his doctors on the 5th of October. Be on the look out for his current weight and his health
July 6, 2005- As usual things have been occuring and I haven't been able to update this as much as I'd like. Again I am sorry so please forgive me. Dimitri now has six teeth, the newest tooth came through on July 2nd and there are a couple more just about ready to break through the skin. Dimitri has been eating table food for a couple weeks now, so far he seems to love eating mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Sometimes he likes eating vanilla or chocolate pudding. He's doing much better when it comes to crawling, he's going further without falling down onto his stomach and he's cruising right along. It won't be long until he's walking because he's starting to stand up all by himself and lean back against the couch without holding on and when you hold his hands he does rather well. Although he doesn't like walking when he's only holding on with one hand because he's scared of falling and getting hurt. Also, Dimitri is able to go from a laying position to a sitting position all by himself. I am so proud of him and all of his accomplishments.
June 10, 2005- Dimitri's 9 month check up went really well. He weighs 26 lb. and 10 ounces. He's 31 1/2 inches tall. He's also in very good health other than the fact he can't have juice because he gets a really bad rash from it. The doctor said to try again in a couple months to see if he's grown outta it. Dimitri has two teeth that broke through on June 7th. There are a couple more about ready to break through. He got one shot today which was better than getting four shots in one day.
Dimitri took four crawling steps on June 4th , although he would much rather army crawl because it's easier and faster. On June 7th Dimitri went up the two steps we have in our house. Now he can easily go in and out of the livingroom to get around. Today Dimitri stood up all by himself in his crib.
May 8, 2005- Goodness gracious I am getting horrible at keeping up with the stories lately, silly me. Well since our last update Dimitri has tried two stage 3 foods. He had bananas which he didn't really like for some reason because he liked the stage 2 ones. He also had stage 3 applesauce which he liked very much. Dimitri still isn't crawling per say, it's more like an army crawl. However he is rather fond of going down the step that leads from the living room to the dinning room. He knows how to pivot so his feet go down first and the shimmies down the stair on his belly. Every time you turn around he's crawling around on the dinning room floor. I?m beginning to think it?s almost as if he?s on an adventure because he?s always looking around for a new way to do things. But watch out he doesn?t liked to be picked up and put back in the living room where he started. He gets rather mad when you do that.
Well I guess that?s all of an update for now, sorry it wasn?t more. Also, I am sorry it wasn?t to interesting, hopefully the next entry will have some more details as to how Dimitri is growing, which will probably be after his 9 month check up.
April 24, 2005- Dimitri continues to grow as a loving baby. Always full of smiles, laughs and stories. He's even begun to babble while trying to say words like momma, bubba, nana, and papa. It won't be long before he surprises me with that special word every mother loves to hear. He's still eating stage two foods, however he's had a taste of mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. He's also eating teething biscuits and cookies. Which he seems to do fairly well on even though he has only two teeth. On Friday April 22 I put some Cherry Vanilla pudding in a bowl and gave Dimitri a spoon allowing him to attempt feeding himself. He still needs a lot of practice feeding himself mainly because he was more interested in wearing his food or chewing on his spoon when there was nothing on it. Oh well, by the time he was done momma and Dimitri were covered in pudding. Ewwwwww sticky! Needless to say it was definatly bathtime afterwards.. YAY! Since Dimitri loves bath time.
On April 23 Dimitri began to scooch on the livingroom floor, I have a feeling it won't be long before he discovers how to crawl. Watch out guys baby on the loose
. Lately Dimitri has a new way of entertaining not only himself but his family. Since he plays in the livingroom a lot and we own a dog I lay a couple blankets on the floor for him so his toys don't get hairy. Hmmm let's think about this baby vs blanket....interesting combo. Dimitri loves grabbing the corner of the blanket and rolling until his face is hidden as well as most of his body. Then he will begin hitting his hands on the floor and kicking his feet to get somebody's attention. When you lift up the flap to reveal his face he will laugh at you. If you leave the flap up Dimitri will pull it back down over his face and the game is on again. So, I guess you would say it's his own creation of peek a boo.
Well I guess that's all for now, thanx for stopping by!
March 23, 2005- Just a real quick update of some things Dimitri has done. Hehehe I don't want to forget to mention them, nor do I want to forget the dates they occured. On March 20, we went to a expo and Dimitri had his palm read (for those who believe in such things). The lady who read his palm did it for free, she said that Dimitri was going to be artistic, whether it be singing, dancing, drawing, or painting. Which I thought was rather interesting. That same day his papa gave him a little taste of chocolate pudding (yummy). Like all kids he loved it, in fact he kept watching the spoon where ever it went. Was rather cute. Then on March 21, Dimitri and I went to the YMCA for a couple hours and I took him in the little kids swimming pool with me. It was like a big bath tub to him. He had being in the water and watching the kids around him. Although, I'm sure he was rather confused when they went underwater. What Dimitri liked best was when I lifted him up out of the water real quick and they brought him back into the water. He was laughing and talking away.
I have a feeling that it won't be long before he starts crawling. He can easily raise himself on his arms, just needs to learnm how to use his legs in knees in order to move.
March 15, 2005, Woohoo Dimitri is 7 months old today! A little sad that he's growing up so fast, yet I'm excited. On March 5 Dimitri drank from a sippy cup for the first time. He's still unsure of how to get the liquid out of the cup, but he tries. He mostly rubbed his upper gums against the "spout" for the cup. Dimitri has had a taste of all the veggies without having an allergic reaction. He's been through pretty much all the fruits too, again no reaction. On March 6th, I started giving Dimitri some meats to see how he does with them. So far is looks like he's doing good with them. Hopefully he won't have any allergic reactions to them either.
Dimitri is such a rollie pollie, he loves rolling around on the floor. If I'm laying on the floor beside him he will try to run me over by rolling, it's so cute. He's getting better while in his walker, on March 14, he took a couple steps forward. Slowly he's gaining his balance enough to sit all by himself. Does pretty good until he leans sideways and topples over. When he's standing up and holding your hands he loves jumping up and down. Pretty soon he should learn how to take steps when standing, we'll have to see. I can tell you this though, once he starts walking I'm in trouble.
February 23, 2005-Here's a real quick update on Dimitri. Today he had a six month check up in which he was given two shots. Of course he wasn't happy about being pinched. When he was weighed the doctor said he weighed 22.1 pounds and is 74.5 inches long. He has a 45 cm head circumference.
Dimitri doesn't have any more teeth yet, but I think he has one coming in on the top. He's still experimenting with veggies. On February 14, 2005, he has squash. At first I didn't think he was going to like it, but he proved me wrong. Then on February 20 Dimitri had mixed veggies, didn't like that to much either. However, he did get a taste of the good stuff because on February 22, I gave him rice cereal with applesauce.
February 11, 2005- Dimitri still continues to grow right before my eyes. He already has two teeth comming in. His second one started coming in February 7th, right next to the first one.
Everyday he gets better at rolling over because it doesn't take him as long to complete the roll. I have to put a big soft blanket on the floor for him to lay on so he doesn't end up on the carpet. Too much dog hair on there even after I vaccum the rug.
I have a feeling that he will either be crawling soon the more he rolls over and scotches on the floor. When in his walker he continues to go backwards. But, he has been getting better at steering. It was soo funny, for the past week we have been staying at his great papa's, who happens to be in a wheel chair. Every time Dimitri would get stuck, great papa would give him a little push with his wheelchair (it's electric) only to have Dimitri play bumper cars.
Lately he has been falling asleep on his own, without someone right next to him. Dimiri has also been sleeping through the night. A couple times he will stir, but is able to fall back asleep without me having to wake up.
While at my grandparents I weighed myself on their scale, the I weighed Dimitri and I both. After that I subtracted the difference to see how much Dimitri weighed and was amazed. According to my grandparents scale he weighs at least 24 pounds.
On February 23 Dimitri goes for his 6 month check up, so we'll see just how close their scale was! I can't wait!!!!!
January 31, 2005- A lot has happened in Dimitri's life since I last updated this. On January 28, we noticed that Dimitri had cut his first tooth only because he decided to munch on mom's finger and bit her. Ouchie, sure enough when I checked there is was peeking out. Couple more teeth and he will be eating with us. Speaking of eating, yesterday Dimitri ate his first vegetable, which was carrots. He seemed to like it very much and so far no allergic reaction. He's already had all four types of cereal (oatmeal, rice, barley and mixed). Seems to me that he liked the oatmeal one best.
Today, Dimitri has finally learned to roll over all the way, but each time he needs to try a couple time before succeeding. He's also been doing very well in his walker, but has not learned to move forward yet. It takes time but he will get it soon. He loves to bounce in his bouncer, better in that than on somebody. He even was able to put his husher in his mouth all by himself. One minute he was laying on the floor with his husher beside him, then the next minute he's sucking on it.
January 11, 2005- Sorry everyone for not having Dimitri's journal log updated these past couple months. Most of you know that I have been dealing with the loss of a loved one over the holidays. But, I am doing much better now and I will try to keep this updated.
WHEW, we survived the Christmas season! Dimitri's first Christmas went pretty well even though he doesn't know the meaning of it yet. But perhaps next year he will be joining his nieces and nephew in the anxious wait for Santa Claus. Dimitri spent Christmas at Nana and papa's house. Momma, Aunt Dawn, Cousin Mitchell, Aunt Tammy, Uncle Denny, cousinsâ Karrissa and Morgan, Uncle Dave and Aunt Kerri were with him to celebrate. Dimitri had a blast helping me open his presents. For Christmas Dimitri got a couple outfits, a lot of which had fire trucks on them. Hmmm I wonder if he's going to be a fire fighter just like his mommy! He also got some toys that makes noises and light up, along with a couple he can chew on since he's teething. We even put a Santa Hat on him and took a picture so we can send Christmas greetings to our loved ones. All in all it was a great first Christmas for him, probably one he will never forget.
Moving right along to more information about Dimitri. Sorry for getting sidetracked, Dimitri is getting so big he is now able to roll from his back to his stomach, although he gets mad because he hasn't learned to go from his stomach to his back. Oh well, he will learn with time. I bought Dimitri a walker so now he is able to move about the house ¦just backwards. He thinks it's soo funny if you chase him around the house saying Get you get you get you, while he's pushing himself backwards to get away. Another thing he has learned to do is stick out his tongue while making a raspberry sound. It is sooooo funny watching him do that because his cheeks get all red and little spit bubbles appear on his lips.
He is definatly my little precious unexpected miracle and I love him with all my heart.
December 16, 2004- Well Dimitri is four months old now and he had his four month check up today. The doctor said he weighed 18 lbs 11 ounces and is 27 1/2 inches long. Goodness he is getting big, gonna be very tall when he gets older. Just another person for me to look up to. Since Dimitri is starting to teethe, she said I gotta try to bring comfort to his gums. Poor baby got four shots today, wasn't very happy after that. Good thing he doesn't get cranky after shots, he just wants to sleep. Oh well I'd love him even if he was cranky. He's sooo precious to me.
