November 13, 2009- Unfortunately, I am having technical difficulites with the site so I can't load more pictures or add tickers...rest assured, I am working on it!  Check back this weekend for photos of Lucas meeting Santa for the first time in 2009!  So excited...I hope Lucas is too!

And since we are so excited about Christmas coming, we started with our holiday song too!

November 12, 2009- WOW!!! This long without an update!  Time flies when you are enjoying yourself!  Plus throw in work, helping Mom, Dad, and Grandma, and a little eating and sleeping along the way, you get kind of busy...All is well!  Lucas is growing more each and every day, and has become quite the chatterbox.  I know I always say that, but he simply just amazes us with what he picks up.  He now uses words like awesome, and "Rock and Roll" (learned from Rolley on Bob the Builder), and will say I'm fine when answering a question.  He speaks in full sentences, and uses please and thank you the vast majority of the time!  Of course, he eats by himself, but now he doesn't even make a mess..I can't believe that Lucas is now like a real human being! LOL

Our newest interest in Thomas the Tank Engine.  I kind of thought he wouldn't be that into it, but WOW, he LOVES IT!!!  And the best part is that he actuallyl can sit and play with his engines for at least 30 to 45  mintues.  He lines them all up, drives them around, dismantels them, and then does it again.  We even have to refer to Lucas' bath time as a wash down! HaHa  Lucas also has his own personal inventory in his head.  He can look at his cars, and tell you exactly who's missing!  Glad he know, because I loose track.

Lucas has also started to show an interest in letters and writing.  We have an i-pod touch, and I downloaded a game where you have to drag letters into a box and spell a word.  One day in the car, I gave it to him to keep him quiet, and the next thing I know, I hear the word boat spelled out!  I thought that maybe after a few seconds, it solved the puzzle for you, but nope, Lucas did it himself!  He then proceeded to do about 10 words that way!!!  I was way impressed!  He now asks to do his words every day, and is getting better at it.  We added some new words, and he loves them.  Lucas also asks to write every day, both at his easel and on the kitchen table.  From the looks of it, he seems to be a lefty.  It is early to tell, but that is definitely the hand he prefers.  The other day, he did a drawing at my mom's and then told her  "Grandma, it's perfect"!  When my mom told me I honestly had tears in my eyes!  I couldn't believe it!  I want to jump into the alphabet and all that stuff, but I also don't want to overwhelm Lucas either...But I think 2010 will bring lots of alphabet games and puzzles to our sweet little boy.

Halloween was so exciting!  Lucas actually understood what he was doing!  But the problem was that the first place we went gave him a lollipop, so he sat down on the floor and started to eat it..I guess he thought we were done.  The more candy he got, the more he wanted the "pop-pop".  He did have a good time, and was a very good boy, even with no nap on Halloween!  I could not have been more proud of him..and who cares if he had some MandM's for breakfast the next day?  Who didn't?  On a side note about Halloween, the other day, Lucas and I were walking up the block, and he saw the UPS man go to the door of one of the houses we went to Trick or Treat, he looked at me and said "Mommy, Trick or Treat".  I almost died laughing!  At lease he remembered!

We are, of course, looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Lucas loves reading about them in the many books we have.  He especially loves, Clifford's Thanksgiving, and The Little Engine Saves the Thanksgiving Day Parade".  I am toying with the idea of bringing him to the parade with us this year..it will depend soley on Mother Nature!  I just feel that Lucas would enjoy it now, and that he is capable of being a good boy while we are there.  We went to an exhibit in NYC a few weeks ago, and the wait was over 90 minutes, and he was perfect! No meltdowns, no complaints, nothing!!!  He was better behaved then older kids! We will wait and see, but I'm really hoping to take him!

My Dad is finally almost healed up, which is wonderful news! I only hope and pray he continues to improve.  Lucas is truly the peanut butter to his jelly, and they love each other dearly.  It's really the best medicine!

GG is not fairing so well..She loses more and more of her memory each and every day.  Just last week, she didn't recognize me and it crushed me.  It took her a few minutes, and needed some prodding, but still, it was a very difficult moment.   I am just hoping we can enjoy one more set of holidays..She is such a treasured member of our family and I'm glad that Lucas brings her much joy as well.

Well, that's about it for now..Keep checking back, and I hope it won't be long before my next update!

Happy Thanksgiving! XOXOXO

October 9, 2009- I know it's been a while (again) since my last update, but there just never seems to be enough hours in the day.  Between working, helping out with my Mom and Dad and Grandma, spending time with Lucas and doing things like cleaning cooking and decorating, it's a wonder I have time to sleep! School has been going well, but of course I count the mintues to 3:00, days to our next day off, and I am definitely counting the months to summer! The sad thing is that as much as I want time to pass quickly, I want my time with and Lucas' "babyhood" to last forever..It just amazes me to see how quickly he is growing and how much he learns each and every day.  He even had his first phone conversation with me today..TWICE! I talked to him during my lunch hour, when he told me he had cake and was playing with his scooper.  And then this evening when I spoke with him he told me he wanted to bake cookies for school with me (he loves to put the ingredients in our standing mixer and turn it on)..It was enough to break my heart! I just wish I could be with him every moment of the day...

We are also so super excited about Halloween! Lucas is really getting excited and loved putting up our "punkins" and "monsters"!  He also knows how to say trick or treat, and understands that he will be getting candy. We also have almost enough books to read a different one every night during the month of October, yes that many!...I can't even begin to explain how excited I am about Christmas...Lucas knows that Santa is watching and that he has to be a "good boy" for Santa to come!

His days are spent having fun with my Mom and Dad.  Lots of time outside, lots of time playing, and of course lots of love! He likes to take his scoopers outside and play in the dirt with them.  He also likes to go up the block to our neighbor's house and check out the monsters (blow-up decorations).  He then has lunch with my dad everyday and they watch Thomas the Tank Engine.  Lunch usually consists of bologna or ham and HOO HOO (Yoo Hoo)! Not my first choice, but I think he'd be eating it anyway, so why argue?  Weekends are always busy, but wonderful.

Lucas has  started Kindermusik class as well.  Our teacher, Mr. Mark, has the patience of a sait as there are 5 boys and 2 girls, ALL 2, in the class. The first three weeks have been tough, but I think Lucas is getting the hang of it.  He likes singing and playing with instruments, so hopefully, he will enjoy this experience. We play the CD's in the car, and read our Kindermusik book every night, after our Halloween book, but before Stinky Face (our favorite)!

Of course, into every life a little rain must fall, and ours is no exception.  Sadly, on September 30 our beloved ferret Maxi passed away.  We knew she was sick, and that her passing was inevitable, but it is still so sad.  It seems that each time one of them passes, a little piece of our old life goes with them.  We were all so happy in our little apartment on 10th Street.  We would never trade Lucas for anything, but it was a wonderful time in our life, and sometimes, we do miss it.  Lucas knows that Maxi went to heaven, but doesn't quite understand that she isn't coming back.  He looks for her every day, and keeps asking for her too.  A terrible lesson to learn at any age..

Lucas is also showing some interest in the medical field as well (hahaha).  He helps me change the dressings on my Dad's foot every night.  He hands me the supplies as I need them and says "Check".  Lucas picks out the tape, the wrap, the cream, and bandages.  It's very sweet, and evety time we do it he tells my Dad "All Better"!  Those two are just goofy for each other...

I can not update pictures tonight since I am updating from work (ssshhh), but I will be sure to do so soon.  If I don't now at least you know how I am spending my time..with my favortie person in the whole world!

Take care and thanks for checking on us! XOXOXO

September 13, 2009- Just a quick update saying the first week of school went well, and hey, only 177 school days to go! GG celebrated her 93rd birthday on Friday, and was in great spirits at her party.  Lucas is of course, growing like a weed, and we love every minute with him..

Check back later or tomorrow for some new pics..Until then, thanks for checking on us and GO GIANTS!!!!!!

XOXOXO

September 7, 2009- It can truly be said that Labor Day is, without doubt, my absolute least favorite holiday.  After today, my leisurely days of spending almost every moment with Lucas are over for quite some time.  It seems that with each passing year, going back to work becomes more and more difficult.  I am blissfully happy every day when I am with him, and while I am fortunate enough to have a great schedule and no commute, as well as lots of time off, it's just not the same.  I can't cuddle in bed in the morning watching Sesame Street, we can't have lunch outside, or go to the zoo whenever we feel like it. I do love my job and my co-workers, but certainly, they can't hold a candle to Lucas.  He's growing so quickly and learns something new each and every day..sometimes each and every hour! I just don't want to miss a moment because I know soon enough, I'll be packing his backpack for school! (OMG, where are the Kleenex?!?)

This summer, Lucas has become my little buddy more then ever! He helps me cook, clean, he kisses my boo-boos, and loves to read and sing to me.  He makes himself and me laugh hysterically..We have had so much fun, from our trips to vacation, to his birthday, and even just spending time at home..I smiled for hours every day and very rarely ever felt stressed out! It was such a peaceful and relaxing summer (barring a few moments).

I suppose the sooner we start, the sooner summer will be back.  As we all know, time passes too quickly.  It is so important that we appreciate each and every moment with those we love, because we can never get those moments back.

Well, I have to get ready for the big day..with a knot in my stomach and a tear in my eye! As always, thanks for checking on us, and keep checking back.  Lucas is excited for the fall!  XOXOXO

PS- Now the camera is acting weird, so no photos have been added! Keep checking back!

August 25, 2009- After getting a few complaints about not updating recently, here you go! Ok. not complaints, requests, that sounds better! All you need to know from Lucas Land! Lucas if offically two...He had a wonderful party, where he was surrounded by his loving family and friends, delicious good, beautiful weather, and very generous gifts! Lucas is truly a very lucky little boy! This year's theme was a Cowboys..NOT "The Cowboys", like cute little cowboys!  But Daddy did wear his jersey, despite Mommy's protests!

Lucas' vocabulary and memory increase every day, he is speaking almost in full sentences, and we are at the point where you can almost have a conversation with him.  He knows many colors, animal sounds, can almost count to five, and when he sees two objects together, he can say Mommy, two! In other words, he can recognize a quantity of two! He eats everything from broccoli and corn to pizza and noodles..We are very grateful for that!  Lucas has also begun to sing..He doesn't use words in his song, but he can sing the tune to Backyardigans, and Jack's Big Music Show.  He also knows the God Bless the Moon song, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birhtday, and our family's favorite- Sto Lat! LOL  It's so funny, because his little body really gets into it.  He also loves to help cook and clean as well as take care of the ferrets.  He is very comfortable picking them up and playing with them (even at inconveinent times), and he loves to push them around in his shopping cart! We aren't sure if they like it as much as he does, but they do jump out when they are done.  Lucas can also tell us when he's tired, hungry, or when he's "done", as in five mintues AFTER we get to the mall! We truly can't believe how much Lucas has grown and how much he knows...I also can't believe that in March I have to register him for pre-school!  I can feel my heart breaking even as I type!  I know he needs to go and he will learn so much, but it's my little baby..it's truly bittersweet :0(

Aside from that, we've just been enjoying each day and take each day however it comes.  Unfortunately, it's been way too hot to really play outside or go to the playground.  And when you move as much as Lucas does, you get overheated pretty quickly.  But somedays Lucas is content to just hang out around home, and play in the sink, play with his trucks or play-doh.  He also loves spending time with Grandpa! Lucas spends hours downstairs with him almost every day.  They even have lunch together.  They are so good for each other, and love each other to pieces.  Lucas asks for Grandpa almost as soon as he gets up, and gets so excited when he hears his voice..It's a beautiful relationships for sure.

I go back to work in two weeks, and I'm already sad about it.  I know I shouldn't be, since I just had two and half weeks off, but it's so nice to have only one thing to focus on every day.  It's nice to be at home and thinking about home.  Usually, when I'm at work, I'm thinking about Lucas.  And thoughts of work always pop into my head when I'm home.  I'm glad I have this time off, but I'd much rather be home with Lucas.  Of course, I'd like to go to the bathroom by myself, or check my e-mail during the day, but Lucas won't be two forever, and I want to enjoy every moment I can with my favorite little guy!

Thanks for checking on us! Be sure to check picture page for lots of new photos! And keep checking back, because there are many new photos that still need to be added! I'm not even thru July yet! :0)

XOXOXO

August 4, 2009- Still no pictures!  I'm really getting annoyed, but what can you do? Worse things can happen right?  We have been so busy and having fun every single day! Lucas learns more and more words every day, and I'm surprised at how much he remembers..Just today, we passed by his doctor's office, and he said "Doctor, pop pop"...which is Lucas-ese for lollipop!  So funny, glad he remembers that and not the shots..

Last week we spent a wonderful week on Long Beach Island..Thank you to Aunt Christina and Uncle Rob for letting us stay at their house for the week..the best part is that it is child-proofed and full of toys..so thank you Maxwell for sharing your toys with Lucas! Lucas loved the beach and the water..a little too much I think, he would have run right in if I let him.  He's definitely my little boy in that respect.  Now if Jim teaches him to fish from the beach, that will make us all very happy! We also visited Story Book Land in Cardiff New Jersey.  It was wonderful! I think everyone should go there, Lucas had a blast, it was clean, well priced, and lots of fun!  It is one of New Jersey's hidden treasures for sure..We can't wait to go back!

Aside from that, we just play outside and go in the pool alot. It's wonderful! We are rested, relaxed, and having lots of fun!

Lucas also wants me to tell you that he has a new baby cousin! My cousin David and his wife Martha had a little girl last night around 10pm.  She weighed in at 7lbs 2oz and measured 18 inches long.  We're not sure of her name yet, but we'll let you know.  That gives GG 6 great-grandchildren!   4 boys and 2 girls!

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as we are! Take care, and as always, thanks for checking on us!

XOXOXO

July 26, 2009- I know it's been quite some time since my last update, but to be honest, I've just been having too much fun!  Our days are spent outside, in the pool, or on special trips..I have many photos, however, I am still not able to upload them to this site.  Jim is working on it, so we'll see what happens..As of the Friday, July 24, I have taken 205 pictures..Just in July!  We've been to the beach, the Land of Make Believe, Wild West City, and Lucas has even started Art Class!  It's been a wonderful summer, and I truly cherish every moment, even when Lucas is having a "terrible two" moment, hour, or day! LOL  I know this won't last forever, and the terrible two's take a back seat to the tormented teens in my opinion.  So I am taking advantage of being Lucas' favorite person, because I know some day I won't!  :0(

Lucas is quite the chatter box as well...He has too many words to list now, and in my opinion, just a few thoughts short of being able to hold a complete conversation! Hard to believe, that just two years ago, I was bearly able to sleep because of this little person growing within me, now I have a real live human being to actually talk to!  It's amazing....He's seems he learns more and more words with each passing minute.  Lucas is also the type of child where you once you tell him what something is, he knows it, and uses that word in the right context.  Lucas knows he's going to be two, and can tell you and show you, but I was unsure of whether or not he knew what "2" was..But the other day, we were at Wild West City, he saw two birds sitting on a fence, and said "Mommy, Two!"  I was blown away, and I don't think  Jim would have believed me if he didn't hear it himself!

Well, we are on our way to Long Beach Island today.  I'm sure Lucas will love staying in a house that overlooks "wawa", his favorite thing in the world! I'm sure it's going to be a blast, exhausting, but a blast none the less!

As always, thanks for checking on us, and check back soon and we start to prepare for TWO!  XOXOXO

July 5, 2009- We are still experiencing technical difficulties, so still no pictures.  But please check out my facebook page, they are all on there!

Yesterday and today were absolutely lovely days...The kind of days you wish would never end, and that you would love to re-live over and over again.  We spent the 4th of July at Mel and Joe's, and Lucas had a great time playing with Jack and Drew!  It's so wonderful that they are all the same age.  Lucas spent lots of time in the "wa-wa" with Daddy, and loved to jump (ie- Jim throwing him as high as he could).  Then once we got home, Lucas was in bed before the sun was down!  Today was spent at home, doing stuff around the house, and just being outside and enjoying the weather! We concluded our day today by attending Bayonne's Fire Works display.  Of course, there was a little bit of excitement..There is a playground in the park where we watched the fireworks.   And since we arrived an hour early to get a good spot, Lucas and I went to the playground for a bit.  All of a sudden, I turned around, realized we were all alone, and that the gate had been locked!  Yep, we were trapped in the playground...Jim called police headquarters, and within a few minutes, TWO police cars showed up with the lights going (no sirens)...They were apologizing up and down, and making sure we were ok...To tell you the truth, we were great! What was there to be upset about?  I was hysterical, I just thought it so funny!  About 10 minutes later, a DPW worker showed up and "rescued" us.  Truly a great story to tell Lucas when he is older.  But the only thing I thought of was why don't they call last call in the playground? They do it in bars, but not playgrounds, where there are lots of little places for little people to hide?  A little scary, what if it had been a kid had been in there alone?

Shortly after that, the fireworks started, and since this was Lucas' first fireworks extravaganza, we were unsure of what to expect.  He tried to climb into me when they first started, and he put my hands over his ears.  But as the show went on, he started to cheer louder than anyone else!  When it was over, he was clapping and yelling MORE!!!!   Truly a priceless moment.

I can only say that Jim, Lucas, and I cuddled on a blanket, watching fireworks on a perfect summer night was nothing but bliss.  A feeling I hope everyone can experience in their lifetime.  During those moments, nothing mattered except that moment.  I am so grateful to be able to have these experiences with the people I love most...They are moments I will always treasure...

Keep checking back for updates, and hope for a quick resolution to the picture situation, boy do I have some goodies!

Take care everyone, we love you!

XOXOXO

July 3, 2009- Well, I know it's been a while, but of course we have been very busy, and Lucas certainly does keep us on our toes.  We have done so much in the past few weeks, that's it is difficult to keep up!

Let's start with June 13...My Mom and I went to see New Kids on the Block at the PNC Center in Holmdel.  Not only did we meet Joe McIntyre (not my fave, but I'll take it), but Jonathan Knight (my fave), danced right in front of us, and blew my mom a kiss!  It was a magical night, and one I will forever cherish.  I felt like I was 14 again, but now able to appreciate the magic of the evening!

June 14 we enjoyed cousin Caroline's dance receital..Hard to believe that my little princess is 5 1/2 and going to first grade! Where has the time gone?

Of course, June 21 was Father's Day, and we enjoyed the day at home with my Dad!  Lucas really loves is Grandpa, to the point where he learned how to go down the steps by himself to see him!  He calls his all day long, and they spend hours playing together in the basement.  They are definite best buds!  It's so cute to watch too, but I think Lucas might be eclipsing my spot as my Dad's favorite Giants fan!

June 22 was perhaps the best day of the year...the LAST day of school!  While I did really love my class this year, nothing compares with knowing that every minute of the day can be spent with my special little guy.  I cherish these times with him because I know that in the not too distant future, he'll have better things to do than to hang with Mommy.  So, our days are spent outside, getting dirty, staying up a little later, and not rushing thru anything we do.  If Lucas wants to spend 10 mintues looking at a rock,  then that's what we do..if he wants to pull bark off the trees, ok, that's fine! It's so wonderful to not have plans or any where to be every day..Lucas has all the time he needs to explore and learn, and believe me, he picks up on everything! He has learned about bugs, the moon and stars, and lots of other things that I never thought he would know at almost 2.  He amazes me each and every day!  His new story now is how Mommy rolled up a newspaper and hit a bug with it..He's more than happy to how you what he does, and laughs hysterically!

June 28th was spent with Lucas' cousins Austin and Emma (who's he's been calling for all week).. We had a great time in the pool together and hanging out in the yard..  It's a shame we don't live closer, because Lucas really enjoys being with them!  Once Austin and Emma left, we packed Lucas up, picked up our friend Kaitlin, and headed to the Meadowlands Fair to meet the Real Housewives of New Jersey!  They were all so super nice, and Caroline espcially loved Lucas! She couldn't stop talking to him, and he gave her a high five.  Dina was there as well, and was wearing ladybugs..He kept pointing to her and yelling "Bugs"..she thought it was so cute (and it was)!

Today, our family (me, Jim, and Lucas) went to the Central Park Zoo.  And while it was small, we did have a lovely time! Lucas especially loved any of the animals that had water near them..The penguins, sea lions, seals, and polar bears!   He was such a good boy, and for the first time ever (and I mean ever) fell asleep in his stroller..It was  very hot, and he spent most of the day wearing his magic backpack (ie- leash and harness), and running around! We all had a blast!

Tomorrow we will be going to Melanie and Joe's for their 4th of July BBQ..We are looking forward to it, and know Lucas will be thrilled to play in the "wawa" of their pool.

I am cherishing each day at home with my precious little angel, and want it to last forever! We have lots of great stuff planned for the summer..so keep checking back for updates and photos...Enjoy each and every day, life is to short not to appreciate the things that are really important.

XOXOXO

PS- We are experiencing technical difficulties, so I can't add pictures at this time..Rest assured, we are working on it, and will had pictures as soon as possible! You can check my Facebook page for some recent pics! Thanks

June 11,  2009-  I know it's been a very long time since I've updated.  But my Dad has been in the hospital for about four weeks now, and things have been very hectic.  It's very difficult to work all day, visit my Dad for a while at the hospital, and take care of a VERY active two year old!  I'm feeling slightly motivated tonight, so I figured it was time for an update!

Lucas is amazing! He learns more and more every day, and astounds us with the things he picks up on.  For example, just the other day, we were passing by the hospital, and Lucas starts to shout Grandpa, Grandpa..he knows that that is where Grandpa is.  That's just one example, and there are so many others! His vocabulary expands every day, and he communicates so very well.  I can't beleive my little baby is almost two years old.  The amount of development is incredible, and the hugely vast differences...I love this age, but I really miss my little mush!

Of course, into every life a little rain must fall.  My Dad has had several surgeries in the past few weeks, all in an attmept to save his leg.  Just this past Wednesday, they removed half of his foot.  If this doesn't work, he will lose his leg below the knee.  We are all exhausted, but somehow, we manage to go on.  Someone always has it worse, but it has been very difficult.  Lucas lights up our our lives, and always make things better.  My Dad really looks forward to seeing him every day (I'm sure the nurses, and patients don't, but he is entertaining).  Laughter is truly the best medicine, and I think that Lucas' antics are really helping my Dad to heal!

Lucas has also had a cough and runny nose, attributed to nothing more than allergies.  Had his first bout of pink eye (which he generously passed on to me during Memorial Day weekend), and then got his first bloody nose yesterday.  He was climbing on a chiar to get to the candy in Grandma's house, the chair slid back, and BOOM he broke his fall with his nose.  Jim took him to Dr. Serafino's office, and he's fine.  It looks worse than it is! Thankfully I wasn't home, because, knowing me, I probably would have called 911..LOL  I'm just terrified of something happening to Lucas, and I think I worry too much sometimes.

I'm desparately looking foward to the summer, although, I really will miss my class.  They were a wonderful bunch of kids, that I consider myself privledged to have taught! But I really do need a break.  I feel like I don't get much time with Lucas because of going back and forth to the hospital all of the time.  We'll see...we'll just make the best of it like we do all of the time!

Keep checking back for updates! And please include my Dad in your prayers every day..he really needs them!

XOXOXO

May 25, 2009- Not too long of an update today.  I just wanted to stop by and change the site a little bit.  No new pics today..Can you believe it? Keep checking back, I'll be sure to update soon.

Please continue to pray for my Dad.  He had a femoral bypass this past week, and will have the rest of his toes removed this week, this is all in an effort to save his leg.  It's been very difficult these past few weeks trying to get everything accomplished. Somehow we're mangaging, but it's been extremely tough.

Thanks for checking on us...XOXOXO

May 9, 2009- Happy Mother's Day Everyone!  I can't believe the time has come for me to celebrate my 2nd Mother's Day.  I'm so grateful for my Little Lucas, he's the best present I could ever ask for, for any holiday...

Sorry it's been so long since my last update, but as usual, things have been very busy.  Unfortunately, they haven't been great things keeping us busy.  My dad was released from the hospital almost two weeks after Easter.  So needless to say, with daily trips to the hospital, it didn't leave much time for anything else.

We also lost a very dear friend of ours on April 26.  Anyone who has ever been to ANY of our parties, knows our wonderful friends Kathy and Larry Czander.  Many of you also know that Larry had some chronic health problems, and had a liver transplant about 5 years ago.  Larry passed due to complications from a variety of factors relating to the anti-rejection medications.  I've known the Czander's practically my whole life, and the loss is very difficult to deal with.  Kathy, Kaitlin, and Nicolas have done amazing, but their lives are forever changed, a piece will always be missing.  My mom and I were honored to read the intercessions at Larry's funeral.  Needless to say, Larry will be missed...I am so thankful that we got to spend Easter with him.  It just worked out that way, and I am so happy we spent that time with him. Please pray for the Czander's.

My Dad is doing so-so.  He has to make daily trips to the hospital for IV antibiotics, and we still don't know what is going to happen to his foot.  After having to change his dressings recently, I don't think it can heal.  The damage is very extensive, and there is alot of dead tissue.  We can hope for the best, but I'm really not optimistic, which is very unlike me.  The Podiatrist has said that once you lose one leg, you lose the other within five years...we're only barely at a year and a half.  It's been difficult, and between Larry and my Dad, I've been very down...

Now on to Senor Stinky Face AKA Lucas...He is growing like weed, and continues to amaze us every day.  Jim and I got the surprise of our life on April 24 when, as we were sitting down to a kid-less dinner in our living room, we heard the pitter patter of little feet, and a giggle.  We turned around, and there he was, as proud as could be...He climbed out of his crib, and was very eager to show us how he did it too! So, Lucas is now in a toddler bed.  It was tough going in the beginning, but we changed our bedtime routine a little bit, and it's working out.  I just can't believe he's in a bed!  He looks like such a big boy.  We also went to the Liberty State Park Earth Day festival, and spent some time with Lucas' BFF Eamon (and Uncle Sean and Aunt Gen).  It's so great to see the boys play with each other now, they finally realize there is another person about their size to play with.  Of course, there has also been lots of outside time and trips to the park (when it's not raining)....I know this summer will be exahausting, but I'm so looking forward to it!

Lucas can also differentiate between four colors or so, say the word green, and is showing a vastly improving memory.  For example, a balloon got caught in my Mom's ceiling fan and she needed a broom to get it out.  Lucas can tell you the story (in Lucas-eze)...He says balloon, boom boom, mop, and points to the fan..and this happened a few weeks ago.  Lucas also asks for his favorite book every night, and remembers that the birthday cake in the book is made out of bananas.  He's turning into a little boy.

Of course, no little boy with be complete without a pinch of mischeif and a dash of sass.  Lucas loves to open the fridge, and even spilled a WHOLE gallon of iced tea, just as I was about to walk out of the door for work.  It's a constant struggle to keep him out of it, we have yet to find a lock that works well enough.  Lucas also wants to play in the sink constantly.  He'll pull a chair over and do it himself now, and when you tell him no, watch out...we go to Tantrum Town!  He's truly embracing his terrible two's early...sigh...He definitely has a personality all his own.  I know I'll miss this as I see him getting ready to go to the prom, or when I hear him ask for my car keys...That Iced-Tea will be a fond memory, and one that I will want back..Although I didn't think so at the time.

Thanks for checking in on us! Hopefull things will calm down, and I'll be able to update more often. Again, please pray for the Czanders, and while you are at it, my Dad too! We really appreciate it.  Enjoy the spring..maybe it will stop raining soon.

XOXOXO

April 17, 2009- Lucas is 20 months old today! We spend today at the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, and despite large crowds, it was a wonderful day.  Lucas spent most of the day out of his stroller and walking, he also followed directions incredibly well and never once tried to run away.  He was really fascinated by all of the animals, and we visited the cow about 5 times because he kept asking to go back by saying "MMMOOO"...He also loved meeting all of the birds and playing with the sheep.

These are the kind of days I wish could last forever.  The weather was perfect, and I loved every second of spending time with my sweet little boy.  I can't believe that 20 months have passed since I had him, and without hesitation, I can say they have been the best 20 months of my life.  What's funny is that I can barely remember what I did without him in my life.  How did I spend spring break? Where did we go?  I just love being with Lucas and seeing his reactions to things!

Check the photo section for alot of photos from the zoo!

My dad is still in the hospital, I will post when he gets out..

As always, thanks for checking on us! Enjoy the Spring!

April 16, 2009-  Well, for those of you who may not know, Grandpa Bill is back in the hospital with yet another foot infection.  He has lost another toe, and has undergone three surgical procedures, including one on Easter Sunday.  He had an angiogram done today to help with the circulation in his leg. However, there are a lot of blockages in the ankle which compromise blood flow; these can not be fixed because the vessels in the ankle are too small.  According to the surgeon, he stands about a 30% chance of needing further amputation.  Needless to say, we are all just so upset, just when we thought we were in the clear, this happens.  All we can ask for is that you keep alll of us in your thoughts and prayers.  Having family and friends like all of you make things like this so much more bearable.

Despite the setback, we managed to have a lovely Easter even though our plans changed. We went to our friends the Czander's here in Bayonne. We really had a good time, and Lucas had a blast playing outside, and being the center of attention.Unfortunatley, I feel like I haven't done as much with him this week as I wanted to because of my Dad. Tomorrow, however, we are going to take advantage of the beautiful weather and go to the zoo, so be sure to check back for pictures!

We are also happy to announce that Lucas is now pacifier free! He was never really into his paci, just at night to go to sleep, but earlier this week, when I couldn't find it before bed, we gave it a try and it worked great! (we haven't gotten rid of them just yet, but SSSSHHHH..don't tell Lucas).  Lucas has also learned the words work, milk (which sounds like molk), and walk.  There is another word too, but I just can't remember it..LOL

As always, thanks for checking on us! XOXOXO

Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather!

April 10, 2009- Just a quick update to let you know that just today Lucas learned two new words AND put his breakfast dishes in the sink by himself without me asking! The words are dough (as in regard to play doh, his second favorite thing to do after playing in the sink), and choo- choo (as in regard to his Fisher Price Easter train that the bunny dropped off early)!  Lucas has been putting his cups, plates, forks and spoons in the sink when asked, but this morning, as soon as he finished his waffle, he put his plate and fork in the sink without me asking!  I couldn't believe and he was SO proud of himself!

I am really looking forward to the next 10 days of being at home, and as far as I am concerned, summer can not come soon enough!

Happy Easter..check back soon for photos of Lucas' 2nd Easter!

XOXOXO

April 5, 2009- Happy Spring!  But it certainly does not feel like spring...Everything here is Lucas land is going great!  We have been able to enjoy some wonderful days at the park, which Lucas really loves, and are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Easter Bunny! We're sure the Bunny will bring Lucas many wonderful things, and I wouldn't doubt it if he even went a little overboard..HAHA  When you ask Lucas what a bunny does, he happily answers HOP HOP HOP! It's so much fun preparing for the holidays with Lucas in mind. Even today, as we were making Crusciki's, Lucas was able to be involved and have fun.  What's even better, is that he got to share that experience with his Mommy, Grandma, AND Great Grandma! Of course, Lucas went to meet the Easter Bunny and did very well with him.

Aside from Lucas learning Hop, hop hop, his new words include walk (as in get me out of the stroller and let me go), cheese, and the beginnings of please and thank you.  Of course we feel it is important to start with good manners as soon as possible.  Lucas uses please when we remind him too, and his getting very good at saying thanks (which is really so cute)! Lucas has also added a cow sound to his reptoire of animal noises that now includes a dog, cat, dinosaur, and monkey.  He just can't seem to get the jist of bird saying tweet tweet, he can point to and recognize birds, and loves to throw bread to them (even non stale bread), but no tweet tweet.

Lucas has also been getting ready for the summer by practicing his swimming lessons! I have taken him to a beautiful indoor pool herer in Bayonne for the past two weeks, and I literally had to pry him off of the ladder this week to get him out of the pool.  Not only was he holding on for dear life, but he also was screaming NOOOOO at the top of his lungs.  After the lifeguard blew her wistle, he let go and stopped (she was a former student, and helped me out)!  He really loves it and it wipes him out!  Plus, he gets extra time in the bath, which is always a bonus!

Of course, I am looking forward to spring break next week.  We don't have any real plans, which is just the way I like it.  The only plan I have is to spend as much time with Lucas as I can (and count the days to summer vacation)!  We'll be sure to keep you posted!

Thanks for checking on us and Happy Easter! XOXOXO

March 25, 2009- Not much of an update today! I just addes some pictures of Lucas enjoying his second St. Patrick's Day Parade.  The past few days have been very busy, and I just haven't had the time to update.

Lucas' word of the week is HOT!  It is adorable, he says HOT HOT, and then blows on whatever it is to make it cool. I can't believe how much he picks up on, he never ceases to amaze me!

Lucas also wants to walk up the steps by himself, which he has been doing for months, but now he wants to do it like an adult~ one foot in front of the other!  He doesn't realize that he has to do it while holding on to someone's hands.  My little guy has quite the independent streak, and usually won't give in until he gets really frustrated..poor Lucas.  But I guess, we've all had to learn a few lessons the hard way. Lucas will too, and when he falls, I'll be there to pick him and help him try again..with a few hugs and kisses thrown in for good luck!

Thanks for checking on us! Hope for Spring!

XOXOXO

March 17, 2009- Top o'the morning to ya!  Lucas' second St. Patick's Day was nice and quiet.  He had fun with his friends at Grandma's house, make a beautiful shamrock that has gone right into his scrapbook, and then had some Guinness with Daddy..All in all a perfect day! Lucas has also turned 19 months old today, we are getting closer to 2 each and every day..  More importantly, we are getting closer to June 22, the LAST day of school!!!!!  I'm really looking forward (as I always do) to being home every day with my special little guy.  I miss him so much when I am at work every day.

Check back this weekend for photos of Lucas enjoying his second St. Patick's Day Parade!

XOXOXO

Enjoy your corn beef and cabbage everyone, I'm ordering pizza!

March 16, 2009- Hi everyone...Not much of an update today! Just added some St. Patrick's Day photos, changed the theme and music.  The background music is the Unicorn Song by the Irish Rovers.  In October 2005, a young man by the name of Michael Romano passed away after a seven year battle with cancer, he was a student in my school.  The Unicorn Song was his favorite song for his favorite holiday..so in honor of our special friend Michael and his family, we have chosen the Unicorn Song!  Whenever I think of St. Patrick's Day, I think of Michael and the Unicorn Song...Happy St. Patrick's Day Michael!

Lucas continues to grow and develop almost every day.  He is eating totally by himself, using his fork, 'poon (as he calls it), and his hands, which seem to be the most efficient.  This is another one of those things that makes me realize he won't need me forever..and it does make me kind of sad.  I'm sad right up until he starts throwing his food off of the plate to show that he's finished.  He has also become quite the artist, he loves standing at his easel and coloring on the paper.  I know what you are thinking, and YES, so far he has kept it on the paper.   I'll be sure to invite you all over for a painting party when he doesn't!

I also did some summer shopping for him this weekend, and I can't believe I am buying 24 months!  It seems like yesterday, he was wearing a 3-6 month outfit to Dr. Serafino's for the first time, and he was swimming in it! My goodness, it has just gone so quickly! I am thankful that I do cherish every moment with him, and try hard to keep track of his developments as much as I can! I think a lot of people get so caught up in every day business and such that they don't take time to enjoy these small moments. I just want to remember what Lucas did when as he grows up, so writing it down on this website is the way I do that...I want to cherish his childhood...I want to look back in 10 years and say...WOW, I'm glad I wrote that down!

We hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, and find the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow!  To end with a quote, "may your blessings outnumber the shamrocks of Ireland"...

XOXOXO

PS- Check back next week for parade pics!
