August 31, 2008- As you can see, Lucas has once again been a very busy boy, and experiencing new things all the time. We started off this weekend by taking Lucas to New York for the first time. We were going to go the day after his party, but we were ALL too tired! Then last weekend, we had plans, so we decided to go this weekend~ and Lucas got to wear his birthday outfit again! Lucas loved every minute of it, he just might be a city boy~ our "main stop" was Toys R Us in Times Square. We had Lucas' name and picture put up on the marquis, we met Geoffrey, and went for a ride on the ferris wheel~ the ferris wheel ride was extra special, because as you can see, we got to ride in the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe, Lucas' favorite out door toy! Maybe Daddy had something to do with it, but he'll won't say for sure! Lucas laughed and talked the whole time and took everything in. After a lunch at Planet Hollywood, where Lucas saw Darth Vader and Chewbacca up close (pics didn't come out because of the glare on the glass), we took a nice stroll up 5th Avenue and landed at Build A Bear Workshop. Lucas picked out an adorable yellow lab, and unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy had to make a deal~ Lucas could get the lab IF we got the Cowboy's uniform to go with it, and since, I only want Lucas to be happy, I reluctantly consented. Don't worry, you can order Build A Bear Accessories on-line, so you know the Giants uniform will be arriving shortly! All in all it was a great day, and Lucas literally fell asleep before we got out of the parking garage!
Today was spent just hanging around, and doing Sunday errands. Tomorrow brings more of the same, but with a lot of sadness~ as many of you know, school starts this week. I cannot tell you how sad I am that I will not be home with Lucas every day. I truly love every minute of it, and I will miss him terribly while I am with my other "kids". This summer has been the best summer of my life, and I have treasured every moment. Like the song says, "you're gonna miss this, you're gonna want this back"...The summer isn't even over and I want them back already and I always wish it wouldn't go by so fast! My heart is breaking to know that I will not be here to give him lunch, or cuddle at nap time, of course, he's with the next best person, Grandma Barb, but it's still not me. However, I am fortunate, in that I have very good hours, and no commute. You better believe that I will be racing home every day to see my little boy. It was difficult going back last year when he was still somewhat of an infant, but this year will be so much worse, because now he's my little buddy. I'd rather be playing blocks and trucks with Lucas then doing anything else in the world.
How many days til June?
GO GIANTS!!!!!!! (FYI- the season starts on Thursday!)
Of course, please take a moment to say a prayer for those who will be affected by Hurricane Gustav. When you see things like this happen, suddenly the minor inconveinces of life don't seem so bad.
Thanks for checking on us! XOXOXO
PS- The new NKOTB cd comes out on Tueday! Guess what Lucas will be listening to!
August 26, 2008- It's only been five days since my last update, but there is so much to share with all of you Lucas lovers out there! We'll start with a teething update- we're up to 10! I haven't been checking because, as you can imagine, I try to keep my fingers out of Lucas' mouth as much as possible~ his little teeth are like razors, and his has a fierce bite. But last night when we were cuddling and reading, he started playing with my teeth (future dentist, orthodondist?), so I figured it would be a good time to check his mouth, and as I ran my finger along his gums, I noticed that two more teeth have come in on top. They are in middle of the sides of his mouth (not sure what they're called), but they have cut through completly. I also noticed that he has two bumps on the bottom, so I'm sure he'll have a dozen pearly whites shortly.
That leads us to our next update, Lucas had his one year check up with Dr. Serafino today! He hasn't gained any weight since the end of June, but according to Dr. Serafino, it's compltely normal because a baby's weight plateaus at a year, they become far more active, and tend to not drink as much when they come off formula and go to milk. That being said, Dr. Serafino thinks he doing great, and he grew almost 2 1/2 inches. Dr. S. also said that the teeth Lucas just got are teeth that usually come in around 15 months. His "vocabulary" is also above normal range with five words, when the norm is around three. However, Lucas still much prefers to crawl than walk. He get everywhere he needs to go just fine, he can stand on his own, but no steps yet. Again, nothing to be concerned about. We do have to go for routine blood work and get a urine sample~ sounds fun huh?!?
After the doctor today, myself, Lucas, and my mom went to my cousin Jill's house in Goshen, NY. While we were there, we visited with Jill, Aunt June, Uncle Dale, Nicole, Matthew, and DJ. And trust me, Lucas has a new buddy! He loved playing with DJ and DJ was such a good sport. They played catch, went on the swings, played in the grass, and even shared a snack. At the end of the day, DJ was so generous and gave Lucas one of his toy trucks that he doesn't play with anymore. It was so sweet of DJ and Lucas really loves his truck! We really had a great day...
August 21, 2008- 1 year and 4 day old..my goodness how time flies! As you can see, Lucas has once again been a very busy boy! Lucas had a wonderful first birthday party where he was showered with love from our family and friends, once again, everyone's generosity was overwhelming. Lucas loves all of his new toys, and we are looking forward to hours of play time with our precious little boy. The weather was perfect, the party was perfect~ aside from having him last year, it was the absolute perfect day! We are now in the pre-planning stages for Lucas' Second Birthday Bash (do you think it's too early?)....No of course not, it's never too early to plan Lucas' Birthday!
To top off a wonderful week of birthday fun, Lucas went to the zoo for the first time today! We went to the Staten Island Zoo with Grandma and Uncle Lee. Is it the greatest zoo? No not really, but it is a fine starter zoo. Lucas really enjoyed meeting the animals up close and personal. He especially loved the llamas and cuckaburros (check the spelling)...While we at the zoo, Lucas went on his first pony ride. He did great, but I had a hard time watching him ride away from me, I guess it's something I'll have to get used to as he grows up. He just looked liked such a big boy, sitting straight up, and taking everything in as he went along. He had a great time!
It's just so hard to believe that my little mush is over a year old, with a personality all his own. I know he will always be my little boy, but goodness, does it have to go so fast? I long for those days, where I could just hold him for hours and he was perfectly happy just watching the ceiling fan, now I think he would hang from it if I let him! It doesn't matter, because he is the love of my life, and everyday with him is a blessing. I cherish every moment and want it to last forever!
I changed the theme of the site because of our trip to the zoo, but I left the music the same so I can hold on to his birthday just a little bit longer.
Thanks for checking on us, enjoy these wonderfully long summer days and nights!
August 13, 2008- Well here we are at only 4 days before Lucas' FIRST birthday! I am so exicted I can't stand it, I can't believe the love of my life is already 1! As you can see, I have changed the backround back to the birthday and have changed the song to the New Kids on the Block version of Happy Birthday (I've been a little NKOTB crazy since they reunited a while back)....Aside from planning Lucas' party, things have been quiet. We haven't really been anywhere or done anything too much, but the days just seem to slip by. Lucas is enjoying the long summer days, he loves playing outside, blowing bubbles, and going for walks in his stroller. And we just love being with him, no matter what we are doing.
I saw an interview with Michael Phelps' mom the other day, and she said that Michael had so much energy as a child, she had to find a way to harness it. So, he started to swim, and so far, it's worked out pretty well for him...lol! I'll have to keep that in mind in a couple of years. But Jim keeps making fun of me saying that I'd be the only Mom who wants her little guy to wear swimmies while swimming in the Olympics...I say better safe then sorry! I can only imagine the pride Michael Phelps' mom feels as she watches her son get all of the gold medals.
One of the things that I have learned from having Lucas is that things are always so much better when you see them thru the eyes of your child, so whether it's a first birthday party or an Olympic gold medal, you are happy because they are happy, and that's all you need to get through the day!
Check back this weekend for pictures of Lucas' FIRST birthday bash! I can't wait!
August 7, 2008- New season, same old Giants....We start the "quest" for the repeat with a loss! Fortunately, Lucas did get to do TOUCHDOWN! once during the game. Hopefully, he'll be able to do that alot more in the coming months. (You'll also notice that the song has been changed to Whitney Houston's beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, performed at the greatest Superbowl ever- XXV. It was the greatest because the Giants won it, and New Kids on the Block were the halftime show~ see~ greatest ever!)
That being said, of course we are very excited that Lucas will be experiencing his first Olympics starting tomorrow! ( I can't believe I didn't put a ticker up for them, can't think of everything right?) I love the Olympics, and have ever since the LA games in 1984. It is my dream to go to the Olympics one day, and of course, that dream includes Lucas! What a wonderful experience that will be! Maybe if Chicago gets the games in 2016, we can go then...we'll see. As you can see, I have also changed the background of this site and music to show our support of Team USA! I always get a little choked up when I see our athletes standing on the podium wearing their gold medals, seeing our flag raised, and hearing our anthem. I think the Olympics truly embody what is good in the world, and their spirit is something I want Lucas to embrace. We have Lucas' special USA outfit ready to go for tomorrow, the windows are decorated (yes, they really are), and I read him a book about China! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Lucas had done great with his milk and cups. He sometimes holds his cup upside down, but other than that, there have been no problems what so ever. What a relief! He continues to grow by the second, and gets cuter everyday. Lucas has also begun standing up by himself for a little bit at a time, it's so cute! When he realizes he standing, he gets nervous and plops himself down! It's only a matter of time before I'm really chasing after him...We really treasure every minute with him and are so lucky to have him. Hard to believe that a year ago, I was convinced I was having a girl. I can't even imagine what my life would be with a girl, except that shopping for clothes would be way more fun! I wouldn't change my little guy for all the pink ruffles in the world, he is the light of our life!
PS- As you can see, there haven't been any photo updates recently, and the reason for that is while we were visitng the beach, I accidentially got the camera "a little" wet in the ocean. The funny thing is that once it dried out after a day or two, it was fine, but then two weeks later it stopped working, the people at the company said it takes time for the water to corrode thru the parts and make them stop working. BUMMER! But guess what we're doing on Saturday? Yep, camera shopping! So check back next week for new photos of Lucas, I'm sure they'll be adorable!
July 31, 2008- We are happy to announce that Lucas if off bottles and formula! For the past few weeks, he hasnt' shown much of an interest in his bottles, and has been taking formula from a sippy cup. He has been completely off bottles since Sunday. When I called the doctor today (to ask what else I should be doing to supplement his calcium), they told me he could go on whole milk and as soon as i was off the phone, Lucas was in his stroller and we got milk! Of course we will keep you posted on how Lucas does with his milk. Sorry Similac, I'll be sending my money elsewhere now a days!
I can't believe we are at the point where Lucas is becoming a "real kid"! It's a little sad too, because with each passing day, he grows a little bit bigger and more independent. But being home with him every day is such a gift. He is becoming my little buddy, and I really miss him when I'm not with him (which isn't often). Jim and I went to see Bruce Springsteen the other night at Giants Stadium with Sean and Gen, and as great as it was, I missed Lucas so much! I cherish every minute, and am so grateful that I have been blessed with such a wonderful baby boy.
That's it for now, we are going to cuddle and watch Yo Gabba Gabba, the only show that Lucas is allowed to watch. Honestly, by 5:30, Mommy and Daddy need a little rest break, so it's a cup of MILK (as of today), the couch, and DJ Lance. That's all for today, take care everyone!
July 27, 2008- Sorry it's been so long since my last update (we're especially to Aunt Susan..lol)! But I have been just been enjoying being home with Lucas so much that the last thing I want to (or can do) is sit down at the computer...And quite honestly, by the time he goes to bed at night, I'm not far behind him!
We'll start with Fourth of July and our week at Long Beach Island! We spent almost ten beautiful days at Uncle Rob and Aunt Christina's beach house. At first, I was a little nervous about Lucas going to the beach, but in true Lucas fashion, HE LOVED IT! He would have been out of luck if he didn't because Mommy and Grandma are definitely beach bums. Lucas got to spend time with Caroline, Christopher, Max, Emily, and Eddie. He even went to an amusement park and went on rides for the first time! We all had a wonderful time down at the beach!
This weekend was spent at the Hamptons. Again, more beach going and enjoying the company of Aunt Marge, Aunt Margie, and Uncle Nick. We are so very fortunate to be able to visit so many wonderful realtives all of the time. In between, both beach trips, Aunt June and Uncle Dale came for a visit. He had a great time playing in the pool with Aunt June and hanging out with Uncle Dale.
Lucas continue to develop at lightening speed! He is offically a "cruiser", and is slowly starting to get brave and let go..He will be off to the running races soon! He gets into plenty of mischief, and knows what the word "no" means, but doesn't always listen. He is also starting to have little temper tantrums, which of course we are quickly working to get rid of. His vocabulary has increased as well, still no "mama" all the time, but he was added all gone, and hello. He can also tell you what a doggie says.
In just a few short weeks, we will be celebrating Lucas' FIRST BIRTHDAY! Where did the time go? This past year has been the greatest year of my life. Spending as much time as I can with my little guy is just the best thing in the world, it doesn't matter where or what, as long as he's with me I'm having fun. I can not even remember what life was like without my favorite guy, and quite honestly, I don't want to (maybe a little couch time and Dr. Phil during the day, but that's it)...haha....
Until my next update everyone (which hopefully won't be that long off), be well and enjoy the summer!
July 2, 2008- I am sure everyone is eagerly anticipating photos from Lucas' First Fourth of July, but we will be heading south to LBI today and won't be back until sometime next week. I will post his photos and what is sure to be a long story then. Please keep checking back...
June 27, 2008- Lucas has two special annoucements! First, he is proud to announce his big cousin Caroline is a pre- school graduate! We attended Caroline's graduation and yesterday and had a great time. Lucas really had fun playing with Caroline, Christopher, and Max (as always). Next week, when we vacation at the beach with everyone should be loads of fun!
The second announcement is that Lucas has officially gotten his 8th tooth! Fortunately, this one did not put up a fight and only gave Lucas a runny nose. The poor little guy deserved a break after what he went through with "lucky number seven". So his teeth are all evened up, 4 on top and 4 on bottom. Hopefully that's it for the summer.
Everything else is going great...Enjoying every minute with my little boy! Like the background song says "These are the days of the endless summer, you got to hold them in your heart". If it's possible, I fall more in love with Lucas every day. He is truly the light of our lives and enjoy every second!
Stay cool everyone! Thanks for checking on us! XOXOXO
June 25, 2008- I know, I know too long again between updates, but to be honest, I am just having too much fun with Lucas everyday; and now that he is mobile and so much fun to be around, I would just rather spend every moment with him instead of doing anything else.
There is so much to tell you about our little Lucas! That pesky seventh tooth is thru and not causing any more trouble for my sweet little guy. Lucas also knows how to do "So Big" and "Touchdown", granted they are both the same thing but it's progress none the less. He can also give kisses, which tends to be a little wet because he does it with his mouth open but it is totally adorable. He can also clap hands, give high fives, says hello, shake his head no (even tho he laugs at us when we say it to him), and he recognizes Jim as dada, my mom as "Barbwa", and he is starting to call me mama, when he feels like it. He has started to eat some big boy food, but I am just so nervous around him while he's eating that I am still giving him mostly baby food. I guess I have to get over that fear, and I will in time, I'm just not ready yet. Lucas has also started to cruise as well. However, Lucas crawls so quickly that he seems perfectly content just doing that. He is still figuring out how all the parts are supposed to move with the walking thing, and I think he realizes that he will get where he wants to go even quicker if he crawls. He also really taken an interest in all of his toys, and has definitely shown a STRONG prefernce for his Knuffle Bunny. He also knows that a phone (cell, cordless, or whatever) goes to your ear and you say hello...he does it all the time!
Lucas also attended his first play! Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory premiered at my school on June 6th. It was "deliciously good", and Lucas enjoyed most of the first act. He also had a great time posing with the Oompa Loompas (as you can see in the photos)!
Our perfect little guy just has the greastest personality and bring smiles to anyone who sees him. We can't walk thru a store without someone commenting on how adorable he is (well, duh), and I think Lucas knows they are complementing him because he turns on the charm for sure (especially around the ladies)! He is truly such a blessing, and our lives are so much better because of him.
As far as our new home goes, we have not made much progress because when Jim and I get home from work, we just want to stay outside and play with Lucas. We are usually all out until at lease 8:30...Lucas usually dines al fresco everynight as well! Lucas also loves to crawl around in the yard and play with his toys. However, the big announcement on 36th Street is that we put in a pool! After years and years and years (you get the point), we finally got a pool! The great thing is that it's a pool that you can take down and put up every year. So it works our for everyone~ we get a pool, and Grandma Barb gets to put up her decorations in the fall and winter!
Well that's it for now...Maybe now that I am on summer vacation I will update more, but who knows! My time with Lucas is more special to me than anything else, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! But keep checking back on our favorite little boy!
Hugs, kisses, and summer love to you all!! XOXOXO
PS- Please say a special prayer for our Angel friend Michael and his family. Michael should have graduated from 8th grade this past Thursday. Although his presence was truly felt at the ceremony, having him there would have been so much better. His mom and brother were there to accept a yearbook that was dedicated to Michael's memory, as well as to award the Michael Romano Spirit Award. I know they are heartbroken, but somehow they manage to put on a smile, I admire them so much and am lucky to know them! Thanks!
June 1, 2008- As you can see, Lucas had a very busy day today, he met Aunt Jessie, and Cousins Austin and Emma for the first time! We all had a playdate today at Aunt Mel and Uncle Joe's house. Of course, Jack and Drew were there too, as well as GG, Uncle Richie and Jessie's mom Margaret. It was so wonderful to have all five great grandchildren there together, and then to get a picture with all five of them looking in the same direction~ it was truly priceless and very special!
As much as Lucas loved being with his cousins, I think his favorite part was being in the pool! He had a great time and stayed in for quite a bit of time. Of course, I went right to Target and bought him a blow up pool for the yard. Little pool this year, big pool next year, we have to talk Grandma into it, but I'm sure if Lucas asks it won't be a problem!
I can't wait to spend the summer with my precious little guy (or should I say water rat?)...
Take care everyone! XOXOXO
PS- Lucas is also happy to tell you tht he has won the 7th tooth battle! It FINALLY cut today some time during his afternoon nap...This was the worst one since the first two! Well, onto #8! (Fun!)
May 29, 2008- It seems like only yesterday that I was posting about how excited we were that my cousin Susan (and Duff and Caroline) happily welcomed Christopher Lee! Now here we are a whole year later, and Christopher has just turned one! We went to his party yesterday and had a great time..check out the photos! Christopher turning one can only mean one thing~ Lucas will be turning one soon!
Keep checking back for updates!
Teething update- tooth number seven is still fighting, it's either lazy or stubborn....lol
May 26, 2008- Happy FIRST Memorial Day Lucas! As you can imagine, Lucas had a wonderful First Memorial Day weekend...Friday night was pretty calm a trip to the mall and then Lucas got to hang out for extra time with Grandma and Grandpa because Mommy and Daddy had a date! We went to see the new Indiana Jones movie and it was great! On Saturday we woke up to get ready for Christopher's First Birthday party, but it was cancelled because Christopher was sick. Poor Chris, and we were really looking forward to seeing everyone.
On Sunday, we went to Uncle Richie's house and Lucas was thrilled to play with Jack and Drew. It was really just too adorable, now that both boys are aware of each other. Of course, there was grabbing and pulling, and lots of laughing. Then, we went to our neighbors who live up the street- Matt and Lee Allison's. Matt and I have been friends since first grade, and we both still live on the same block. It seems that for us, no matter where life takes us, we still end up on 36th Street. Lucas stayed up until 11:00! He was such a good boy, and didn't even get a little bit fussy.
Today Daddy got up bright and early for his first fishing trip of the year. He has the "other" twinkle in his eye (beside Lucas) since the weather got warm, so we knew it was coming. Of course, he didn't catch anything but some sun but he said it felt great just to "have the salt on his skin". While Daddy was fishing, Mommy, Lucas, Grandma, Grandpa, GG, Natalie, and Natalie's mom Kim went to the Memorial Day parade. This was Lucas' second parade, so he is getting some experience. Then back to our house for a Bar B Que. Our neighbor's Tony and Lynn were there, and Lucas got to meet his Uncle Richard for the very first time! He lives in Texas with Aunt Jessie and cousins Austin & Emma. The best part of Lucas' day was playing in the grass with all his toys! It almost took two baths to get him clean.
Overall, a wonderful weekend, and what made it great was spending an extra day with Lucas! Now the count down is on to Mommy being home for summer! (Only 20 days left!)
Welcome summer (oh, how we've missed you)! Check the photo section for new pics of our special little guy!
May 17, 2008- Can you believe that our precious little Lucas is 9 months old?!? How did that happen?!? As you can imagine, our perfect baby boy is keeping us quite busy. He is crawling with gusto, and pulling himself up on anything that supports him (he has learned the hard way a couple of times too)...We're guessing he'll be walking before a year, but then again I thought I was going to have him early as well! Everyday with him is so wonderful, he is full of smiles and giggles, and now words! As I shared earlier Lucas' first real word is "Barbara", and now the new favorite is dada, and we're working on hello! I think his words are right there, he's just working on putting them together to get them out.
As wonderful as all of these developments are, I really miss my tiny little infant. I feel like Lucas doesn't need me as much as he did, and that makes me sad. What I do enjoy (as odd as it sounds), his is attachment to me. I love when he reaches for me and just wants me! Of course, I take advantage of every second that I can, because I know it won't last forever. Holding and cuddling my little guy is just the best thing in the world, there isn't anything I would rather do then just spend time with Lucas.
My first Mother's Day was great! I slept until 11:30, got a beautiful necklace and spa gift certificate, and then enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my favorite people. It was great, but of course the best part was snuggling in bed at the end of the day with my #1 favorite person- LUCAS! Being a mom is so much better then I ever imagined, I knew it would be great, but I can't believe how wonderful it really is!
As far as teething goes, Lucas officially has 6 that have cut thru, and number seven is putting up a fight and making my little guy miserable! He was even at the doctor this week because he was feeling so icky. He feels (and looks) much better now, but I wish the tooth was just cut thru and stop making Lucas sick. Dr. Serafino said it's totally normal, but still, I hate seeing him like that!
I can't update the photo pages right now because Grandma Barb has the camera, but keep checking for updates on the cutest baby ever- LUCAS WILLIAM!
Our love to you all....XOXOXO
PS- Exciting news....I am going to see New Kids on the Block in September!!!! Ok yes, I am in my 30's, with a career, baby, blah, blah, but I am sooooo excited! It feels like I am reliving my teens, and this time I know what I should have known then! Of course, Lucas has begun to listen to NKOTB with Mommy (and watch videos), and we are working the Hangin' Tough arm wave~ if you don't know what I mean then too bad for you~ but Daddy's not happy...Oh well, that's Daddy's problem right? Just wanted to share my great news! Hopefully there will be another reunion in a few years so Lucas can come with me!
May 4, 2008- Ola from Lucas Land! As you can see, Lucas is already for Cinco de Mayo! He celebrated today by playing with maracas and trying a sombrero on for the first time~ he liked it (at least for a little bit). Then Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, and GG had tacos and fajitas for dinner. Lucas had a great time at his first Cinco de Mayo fiesta!
Aside from Cinco de Mayo, things have been pretty "normal" around here. We are slowly settling into a our new home, and just taking each day as it comes. Fortunately the weather has been nice so Lucas has started to enjoy playing outside. We have let him crawl around on the grass in the yard and he loves it! He has also taken an interest in lots of toys. Lucas now understands that he can make things happen~ like when he plays his instruments, presses a button on his computer, or knocks some books off of his bookshelf (the last of course is his favorite). So he seems to be trying something new everyday, even though we love it, it is exhausting!
Check back for pictures of Lucas' first "friend" birthday party this coming Saturday, and my first Mother's Day! I am soooo excited! Although a day at the spa would be great, I would rather spend each and every minute with my special little guy~ I just wish he felt the same way! He'd rather be out exploring then taking in the sights from Mommy's lap, and I guess I wouldn't want it any other way...
XOXOXO
PS- In case you were wondering why the ladybugs are still up, even though the theme has changed, here's why..If you look at the guestbook you'll see that one of the recent comments was from Sharon. Sharon is the mother of Michael Romano, a student at my school who passed away in October 2005 at the age of 11 after a seven year battle with Neuroblastoma. Michael was an amazing guy who I was lucky to know. After Michael passed, his mom started to see Ladybugs in odd places and at odd times, surely it was her Michael checking in on her. It warmed my heart to see the message she left, so the lady bugs stay! I truly admire Sharon, with all she has been through, she still has a smile on her face and a kind word to say. I would be greatful if my Lucas turned out like her boys (Michael had two brothers- Anthony and Frankie)..If you remember, say a prayer for Michael and his family tonight, they deserve it! WE LOVE YOU MICHAEL, GO LADYBUGS!
April 21, 2008- I know, I know, I have been slacking on Lucas' website! But you try updating a website when you have a little boy who's crawling around, pulling himself up to standing, planning a christening, moving, and working! It's not easy. There has just been so much going on!
I'll start with Easter. Lucas had a great time at Uncle Rob and Aunt Christina's house. He had a fun time playing with Caroline, Christopher, and Max. Of course the Easter bunny brought him lots of great stuff, but not as much as Grandma and Grandpa. Lucas finished Easter Sunday by pulling himself up to standing for the first time (much to Mommy's surprise) AND got his third tooth- a very busy day! Lucas definitely needs one of those shirts that says "when mommy says no ask Grandma", but Lucas' shirt should probably say "just ask Grandma first". The day after Easter Lucas had his regualr pediatrician appointment. He weighed 19.5 pounds and was 28 inches long, and best of all, he barely even cried when he got his shots!
Since Easter, Lucas has learned to crawl (VERY WELL!) and keeps practicing his standing. We think he has also begun to talk and we are pretty sure that his first word is "Barbara", as if that's a surprise. Maybe we're just hearing things, but that's what it sounds like! He got his fourth tooth at the beginning of April and as of today (April 21) Lucas can wave bye bye! Of course he waves after the person has left, but he is only 8 months old.
In addition to Lucas' developmental milestones, Lucas was baptized on April 13. It was a beautiful ceremony, and Lucas was the only baby being baptized that day! We then had a wonderful party where Lucas was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. It was a wonderful day and I am so glad that we got to share it so many wonderful people. Lucas' godparents are Aunt Susan and Uncle Sean, and Lucas couldn't have asked for better godparents! We love them both so much and know that they will always have a very speical place in Lucas' life.
A few days after the baptism, Lucas moved to 36th Street (mommy, daddy, and the ferrets moved too, but we know who's most important). His room was beautifully painted by Uncle Lee, and has a nautical/ sailboat motiff to it. It's adorable! We're not quite settled in yet, but the computer and television are up and running, so that's good enough for now! It's slow and steady, a work in progress if you will!
We just can't beleive how quickly our little Lucas is growing! It seems like only yesterday, he was perfectly happy being cuddled in my arms. He still likes that, but only when it's time to sleep. I'm ALMOST tempted to say I'm ready for a second baby, but not yet! We definitely have all we can handle right now. Lucas is just such a special little guy and the light of our life. Every day with him is a blessing, and each minute gets better and better!
Take care everyone, we love you! XOXOXOXO
PS- Lucas also wants me to tell you that his Grandma got to see the Pope! My mom was invited by her god daughter (a secret service agent) to the departure ceremony at JFK airport yesterday. There were only about 2000 people there, which for a Pope gathering, is pretty small! We were all very excited, and no one deserved an opportunity like that more than my mom! It was the experience of a lifetime!
March 23, 2008- I will give an Easter update tomorrow and since Lucas has a doctor's appointment I will also be giving an update on his stats! As you can tell though, Easter was great and Lucas enjoyed every minute!
Lucas is now a TRI- TOOTH!!! We found his third tooth today as we were getting ready to leave Uncle Rob and Aunt Christina's house. Luckily, this one wasn't as bad as the others!
March 16, 2008- As you can see Lucas has once again been a very busy little boy. We started off this weekend on Saturday by shopping (as usual), and then we went to Grandma's to make Krusciki's for the first time! Lucas was a big help- as you can see in the pictures- helping to knead the dough. I actually did let him play with it for a few seconds, and he really seemed to enjoy it! He even got a little taste when we were finished.
Today, we got up, went to church with Grandma, and then Lucas got to go to his first parade. He braved the cold (he was bundled up good), and loved the parade. He really paid attention to it far more than I thought he would. Then it was off to Bayonne's famous St. Patrick's Day party at St. Andrews. Lucas hung around with Uncles Sean and Ryan, Aunt Gen, and of course, his best friend Eamon. This time Lucas got a real up close view of Bag Pipes and Drums. Lucas was even lucky enough to meet members of the groups that performed, and they were even nice enough to pose for pictures. After a long day we finally came home, cuddled in bed, read Hooray for St. Patrick's Day, and Lucas drifted off to dream land...AAAHHH! Who could ask for anything more?
Check back tomorrow night for the world premier of Lucas' Easter Bunny Picture! It's sweeter than any jelly bean!
Take care everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day! XOXOXO
March 14, 2008- Not much of an update here in Lucas Land. Everything has been going great and out little boy continues to amaze us every day. My FAVORITE new thing is that Lucas now reaches for me! That is the best thing ever! Lucas is eagerly anticipating the Easter Bunny's arrival, and is looking forward to his first St. Patrick's Day!
