March 2, 2008- Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! For those of you not in the teachin' biz, like Lucas' mommy, you may not know that March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday. And of course, I'll take any reason to dress up Lucas and take some cute photos! Lucas celebrated his Dr. Seuss' Birthday by hanging out with Fox in Socks, Hop on Pop, Yertle the Turtle, and Horton the Elephant from Horton Hears a Who! Mommy's Cat in the Hat slipper also hung around for a little bit! Lucas (as you can see) had a great time, but his hat kept falling off and he kept eating the tags of his friends...oh well, he IS six and a half months old! We have also been reading Dr. Seuss books all week. I think Lucas' favorite is
Fox in Socks because it makes Mommy and Daddy laugh so much (especially when we read it together).
Lucas also posed for his St. Patrick's day pictures today as well. (Many wardrobe changes today). I wanted to take them early so I could enjoy them for the whole month of March! If the Giants and Red Sox are any indication, Lucas must be a lucky charm~ but we're the lucky ones for having him in our lives! He's better then any rainbow, cuter than any leprechaun, and worth more than a pot of gold!
That's the official update from Lucas Land today (I like the sound of that)! Hope all is well with everyone! Love you! XOXOXO
February 26, 2008- As you can see our little Lucas has been very busy! Not only did he "play" in the snow for the first time, help Mommy celebrate her birthday, but Lucas has also started swim class! As you can tell from the pics, he LOVED it. He laughed and smiled the entire lesson; and once Lucas figured out how to splash, he had a blast! His teacher, Miss Judy, even commented on what a happy baby he is, even in the water. Of course, some of Lucas' classmates weren't as happy.
We just can't get over what a happy and mellow little guy we have. It seems like he loves to make people smile~ and he does where ever we go. Even the receptionists at JCC (where swimming class is), couldn't get over what a happy little boy we have! One of the most common things I hear about Lucas is "when he smiles he makes my day", and that just makes my day- I love hearing that. Our precious little Lucas just has such a warm smile and sweet dispostition. We are just so grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful little boy, words can not describe how fortunate we are to have him in our lives! Every day is a gift and we enjoy every minute of it!
Keep checking back for updates on our sweet baby Lucas! XOXOXO
February 17, 2008-
HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY LUCAS!!!!! As usual, Lucas had a very busy day, but today was super special because our precious Lucas is six months old! Lucas started off the day by visiting with GG at GG's house. Also at GG's house was Uncle Lee, Grandma, and then Aunt Sharon, Uncle Richie, Megan, Larry and Lindsey all came for a visit too! Lucas was so exicted to see everyone that he gave smiles and laughs to everyone. After that, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Lucas' Half Birthday Party! After Lucas' dinner of Mixed Grains and Green Beans, Lucas put on his Half Birthday hat, sat with his half birthday balloon, and had half birthday cake on half plates with half birthday napkins. Even Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa had half birthday hats too! It was overall a wonderful day and Lucas was such a good boy ALLLL day.
You may be asking yourself how does one celebrate a half birthday? Well, we basically just took all of the regular stuff for a birthday and cut it in half (except for the balloon for obvious reasons)....I made a cake and cut it in half, we cut the plates in half, folded the napkins in half, and, of course, cut our party hats in half (even tho they didn't fit right after)~ we even cut Lucas' birthday candle in half too! Lucas also had on a special "Half Birthday" onesie that I made for him. However, the balloon and hat were "edited" to show that it was Lucas' half birthday! Just look at his photos from today..I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
We can't believe that our little baby is a half year old. As Jim and I were talking about the day he was born, it was so amazing to remember how we felt that day. It was terrifying and wonderful all at the same time. I know I have said it before, but it seems like our little boy was only born yesterday, but it feels like we have been a family forever. We can not believe how much he has grown in these past months. From size, to personality, to habits, to teeth and most importantly sleeping, he is totally different from the baby we brought home six months ago! The only thing we do know is that our love and enjoyment of our sweet Lucas grows stronger every day, and we look forward to every minute with him.
As always, thanks for checking on us! Check back often for more updates on the best baby ever!
February 14, 2008- Happy First Valentine's Day Lucas William! Lucas had a great First Valentine's Day. Of course, he spent the day at Grandma's house with all of his friends. Lucas even had a special Valentine~ his very good friend Natalie! Lucas got lots of great presents from his friends, Grandma & Grandpa, GG, and Mommy and Daddy.
Nothing can compare to the wonderful gift we have been given with our sweet little Lucas..He is sweeter than any candy and cuter than any Cupid! I can only say on this day about love, the love we feel for him is the most wonderful and magical love of all...And we look forward to each and every day with our little baby Lucas!
February 6, 2008- As I was trying to take pictures of Lucas' ashes from his first Ash Wednesday mass, he was feeling extra happy and I (of course) got a little carried away! But I have to say, I think the four new photos are some of the cutest of Lucas ever! I especially love the one where you can see his teeth. I just had to put them up immediately. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
You may be asking yourself "Lucas went to mass?"...Yes, Lucas goes to mass with Mommy and Grandma every Sunday and on special days like today, Ash Wednesday. He is soo good in church, he loves to look around and listen to the music. And of course, all of the people at church love him too. He is such a good boy!
If you are asking what Lucas is giving up for Lent, the answer is waking up in the middle of the night. Most nights he sleeps fine, but there are still a few nights each week that he doesn't. So we discussed it, and that what he is going to do! (Aaahhh, wouldn't it be nice?)
February 5, 2008- Well the Superbowl has come and gone & needless to say we could not be happier! What a wonderful way for Lucas to spend his first Superbowl. I remember last year, when I was pregnant, I was so excited that I would be able to make the "baby" a Baby's First Superbowl onesie. I had NO IDEA that the Giants would actually make it to the Superbowl, nevermind, WIN IT!!! Lucas loved wearing his lucky clothes and it worked! I can only hope to find this sleeper in sizes that will fit him until he's 25 (at least)....What a great day! I kind of wished today that Lucas was a little older (maybe 4 or so), because I would have taken him to the parade~ hopefully, I'll be able to do so in a few years or so.
Lucas also celebrated his first Mardi Gras today! Lucas and his friends at Grandma's house spent the morning watching the Giants parade, and then had their own Fat Tuesday parade in the afternoon. All of the kids got beads, maracas, and horns! Grandma and Lucas were the parade leaders, and walked around singing "When the Saints Go Marching In". Fortunately, everyone got beads without having to flash anyone else. (LOL...)
Lucas continues to be the light of our lives and we cherish every moment with him. We can't believe he's almost six months old! Continue to check back for updates on the World's Cutest Giants Fan!
January 21, 2008-
GO GIANTS!!!!!!
Who could ask for a better way for Lucas to enjoy his first Superbowl! (Don't ask Lucas' Daddy that question...) Lucas watched his first NFC Championship game with Grandpa, Mommy, and Daddy. He wore his lucky "Lil' Quarterback" sleeper, and his lucky onesie. What makes them lucky you may ask? Nothing, except for the fact that he has worn it for each playoff game, and will continue to do so for the ultimate playoff game! We still can't believe our Giants are in the Superbowl! (Again, Daddy can't either, but he doesn't share our enthusiam)...Talk to you all soon...You know who to cheer for! Love you!
January 17, 2008- Can you believe our little guy is 5 months old? How did that happen? All we know is that he continues to bring wonder and joy to our lives every day~ especially now that is he smiles alot and "talks" to us.
Teething update- The count is now up to TWO! Lucas got his second tooth Wednesday night. This time Daddy had the honors of finding it. We hope that's it for a little while, it's really wreaking havoc on Lucas (and mommy & daddy)..
Thanks for checking in on us! Keep rooting for the Giants everyone!
January 13, 2008- In addition to today being a great day because the Giants beat the Cowboys, it is a super great day because
Lucas has gotten his first tooth! He has been a very cranky little boy lately and now we know why. I've been putting Orajel on his gums every night before bed, and as I went to do it today, there it was- a lumpy bump on his bottom gum. When I looked at further, I saw a bright white tooth poking out of his sore little gum. It has literally only broken through, you can only see the top, but it's there none the less.
When I called to tell my parents last night, my dad said "I guess it's a good thing you took all of the toothless smiling pictures, because you can't any more". I have to be honest, that broke my heart. I just can't believe that my perfect little boy is now getting teeth, rolling over, and wanting to sit up. All of this in five months! I knew it would go quick, but not this quick! I keep telling Lucas to lay on his back and push his tooth back in- but he's not listening to me. I want my little lump back who was perfectly happy just to lay in my arms and sleep.
Well that's the update for now, Lucas is being grumpy (as has been the case for the past week or so)...I think he needs his Mommy- YEA! I'll take it while I can get it...Love to you all and GO GIANTS!!!!!!
January 1, 2008- Happy New Year! Lucas' first New Year's Eve was spent with Mommy at our house. (Daddy fell asleep at 10:30!)....Of course Lucas is always in bed way before 12, but he started to fuss at 11:30, and I didn't really try to put him back down (combination of gas and teething)! Once he was up he was in a GREAT mood, so I decided to have some fun and take some pictures of Baby New Year! Let's face it, I'm not going to be able to do this for long, so I'm going to take advantage of it while I can! That being said, I wouldn't have wanted to spend New Year's in any other way (except for Jim being awake)! I am happy to say that Lucas' first New Year's kiss came from his mommy! Unfortuately, it's now 1:15 and Baby New Year is still wide awake...So I figured, I might as well update his website while I have the time.
We can only hope that 2008 will bring continued blessings for our family and improved health for my dad. Hopefully, the worst is behind us and we can begin fresh this year, and have much to look forward to!
We wish all you of you a HEALTHY and happy 2008! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your support and love during 2007, as difficult as it was, not having that would have made it impossible! You all deserve the best life has to offer! Happy 2008! Continue to check back for updates on our precious baby boy!
December 27, 2007- Well, Christmas had come and gone, and I can only say that this was the best Christmas ever! It was such a wonderful gift to share it with our sweet little Lucas! Santa was VERY GOOD to Lucas, but Grandma and Grandpa were even better! Lucas got too many toys to even list, and so far he has enjoyed playing with them. We spent Christmas and Grandma and Grandpa's house with cousins Caroline, Christopher, and Max.
He especially likes his bowls and spoons that he got in his stocking from Santa because he has started to spoon feed. His first attempt was yesterday, and to be honest, he did great. It only took two paper towels to clean him up...
That's the update for today, be sure to check back for pictures soon!
Happy 2008 everyone! We wish nothing but the best in the new year! Love you....
December 24, 2007- Well the big day is almost here and we are all so very excited! Lucas and I have been tracking Santa on noradsanta.org all morning...at the last update he was in Tanzania. We know that Santa will bring Lucas lots of special Christmas presents because he is such a good little boy. No matter what gifts Santa brings for Lucas, none can compare to the gift we have been given with our sweet little Lucas. He grows and changes each minute and we enjoy and treasure every second.
We are also very happy this Christmas because Grandpa Bill came home from the hospital just in time to be at Lucas' First Christmas! We are truly thankful to have been given this extra special gift as well. Continue to keep my mom and dad in your thoughts and prayers, hopefully 2008 will bring about a better turn of events!
To all of our friends and family, we wish you all the merriest of Christmases and happiest and healthiest of new years! Thank you for all of your love and support this year, we certainly could not have gotten through it without you!
Just remember, among the hustle and bustle that is this time of year, to take time and appreicate the things that are really important- the people that you love and those who love you. That's what life is all about after all, everything else is just extra!
Be sure to check back on Wednesday for Lucas' first Christmas photos, no doubt they will be adorable! Merry Christmas everyone, we love you!
December 9, 2007- Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Now that we are full swing into the holiday season, I can only say that having our perfect little boy only makes it more enjoyable! Despite all of the difficulties with my dad this year (he had a portion of his leg amputed below the knee on Thursday), our little Lucas continues to be the bright spot of our lives. As you can see from the new photos, Lucas has been keeping busy seeing Santa frequently and having fun with friends. I swear he gets bigger every single day but no matter how big he gets, he will always be my precious baby boy.
You can also see in Lucas' photos that he has recieved his first pair of Mickey Mouse ears! Margie Ann and Frank visited their beautiful new home in Florida, and when they went to Disney, they found these ears for Lucas! Have you ever seen a cuter Muskeeteer? I know I haven't. Even though Lucas' first trip to Disney isn't planned until November 2011, my mom and I tell him about it all the time! We are really looking forward to it. He will be getting lots of practice for his big trip by wearing his very special ears!
Until the next update, please keep my mom and dad in your thoughts and prayers, they really need it...Enjoy the magic of the season!
November 29, 2007- Today was Lucas' pediatrician appointment for the month. He gained two pounds, which brings him up to 15 pounds 12 ounces, and grew two inches, Lucas is now 26 inches long! Developmentally, Dr. S. told us that Lucas is achieving four and five month milestones like kicking his legs, grabbing his feet, and playing with his hands. I just hope he doesn't walk too soon, because that's when the hard work really starts~ although he does like to "stand up". Lucas is also showing signs of "pre-teething" like swollen gums and extra drool (very attractive), we were told he could cut a tooth anytime between now and seven months. Unfortunately, Lucas has his first little cold, just a stuffy nose and a little cough, so no shots this month. All we know is that each day with our precious little boy gets better and better, and we love him more and more. Keep checking back for updates, enjoy this wonderful holiday season!
November 23, 2007- Happy First Thanksgiving Lucas! As usual, Lucas had a very busy day! Mommy and Grandma started off the day at 5:30 by going to the Macy's Parade in New York with our friends Kathy and Nicholas! I'm am really looking forward to taking Lucas to the parade in a few years. Once I got home, we got packed and ready to go to Mark and Kim's house. Lucas had a great time with Caroline, Kyle, Kira, and Michael! Then after we got back to Bayonne we visited with Lucas' best friend Eamon. Eamon was at his Grandma and Grandpa Boyle's house with his mom, dad (Jim's best friend), and Uncle Ryan. Lucas ended the day with a big piece of pumpkin pie and whipped cream- JUST KIDDING- he ended by cuddling in bed with mommy and a bottle with oatmeal in it!
Even though Lucas doesn't know it yet, Jim and I are so thankful that he's ours. We have always been thankful for the many gifts we have in life, but none compare to our perfect little boy. This Thanksgiving was the best ever, and truly made up appreciate how fortunate we are to have a wonderful family, great friends, and the happiness we experience every day with Lucas!
Keep checking back for updates, now that we are officially in the Christmas season, I'm sure there will be lots of great pictures! Enjoy! We love you all!
November 17, 2007- Well, here we are at three months, and we can only say that every day with our precious Lucas gets better and better. He is just the most wonderful baby and we are sooo in love with him! Lucas has become such a big boy. When he is laying down, he tries to pull himself up to sit, he tries to hold his bottle, and has begun "talking" non stop. Even with all of these wonderful developments, my favorties are sitll his beautiful little smile and giggle, and our cuddle time. He will be a REAL big boy before we know it, so I want to make sure I get in every hug and kiss that I can before he starts to tell me no.
I have always been very thankful for the gifts I have been given in life, but nothing compares to Lucas! And as Thanksgiving approaches, we are that much more thankful for being blessed with such a beautiful and healthy little boy! He makes every day better and life so much sweeter...He is the light of our lives.
Be sure to check back after Thanksgiving for photos of Lucas' first Turkey Day (keep your fingers crossed for good weather so Mommy and Grandma can go to the Macy's parade) , and getting ready for Christmas! Happy Thanksgiving to all! We Love You!
November 12, 2007- Maybe you are wondering why there are snowflakes falling on our web page instead of leaves or pumpkins. The truth is that we are sooo excited about Lucas' first Christmas that we wanted to have "a little bit of Christmas" before Thanksgiving arrived. As you can tell from the photos, Lucas met the practice Santa Claus this past weekend...he was such a good boy, he even tugged on Santa's beard! Lucas will be meeting the real Santa soon! We have been listening to Christmas music since the day after Halloween! Lucas' bedtime book is
A Christmas Carol (Mommy's a sucker for the classics)...one thing is for sure, our little Lucas is growing by the minute, and he will definitely be on Santa's nice list! And if that doesn't work, well, that's what Grandma is for!
We just can't belive how much Lucas has been doing! He has started to try to hold his bottle, when he is laying flat he tries to pull himself up to sit (he makes himself into a v), he has begung to reach for and hold toys; he has also learned how to roll from one side to his back and then up on to the other side. It seems like just the other day that we found out he was on the way! Actually it will be a year on December 1st. He is just the greatest little boy, and we love every single inch of him!
November 1, 2007- Lucas could not have had a busier Halloween! We started the day off by having lunch with our friend Tara, and Lucas was dressed as a penguin! Then it was on to Midtown (mommy's school), to see the Halloween program and visit with friends. After visiting school, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house, Lucas changed into a pumpkin, and then we went Trick or Treating with Grandma and the children she cares for. We came home, had a diaper change, bottle, and nap, and went out trick or treating again with our friends Kevin, Erin, and Micayla (she was pretty as can be as a gypsy)! Lucas was back in his penguin costume because it was too cool by then. We finished the day with having pizza back at Grandma and Grandpa's house with Uncle Lee, Uncle Richie, and Grandma Annie! Mommy, Daddy, and Lucas were all asleep by about 10:30 last night!
I have to say my little boy could not have been any better yesterday! For all of the running around we did, he only cried when he was hungry. He left his costume on, didn't fuss, and went along with all of the craziness Halloween brings, taking everything in and even sleeping periodically in his stroller. Personally, this was the best Halloween ever! I have always looked forward to taking my own children Trick or Treating, it was so much better than I ever imagined~ just like being a mom! Every day with our precious Lucas gets better and better! Now of course the BIG question- what should Lucas be next year? LOL...Take care everyone!
