October 28, 2007-  Today was a very busy day for Lucas.  We started off the day by visiting with Uncle Sean, Aunt Gen, and Baby Eamon.  Eamon Patrick was born on October 10.  It was amazing to see the difference between Eamon and Lucas..what a difference 10 weeks makes!  I know that Eamon and Lucas will be life long friends just like their dads!  These are two that will keep me up nights in 20 years..We then went to the pumpkin patch.  Lucas loved posing for photos (as you can see), and enjoyed picking his first pumpkin.  Mommy and Daddy enjoyed cider and donuts.  As you can imagine, Lucas fell fast asleep in the car on the way home.  We hope all the fresh air will make him sleep, well, like a baby tonight.  Take care everyone, talk to you on Halloween!

October 25, 2007-  Today was Lucas' visit to the pediatrician, and of course he did great!  He weighs 13 pounds 12 ounces and is 2 feet even (Grandma Barb said that's only three feet shorter then her)!  His head circumference is 16 inches.  He is at the 75th percentile for height and length, and in the 95th for head circumference~ I guess all that reading we do is paying off.  He even took his shot like a man- he only cried for a second.  He also smiled and was "talking" to Dr. Serafino!  Overall, a healthy, happy baby...As far as the Red Sox go, his outfit worked last night, so he's wearing it again tonight!  Sorry everyone...Until the next update, be well and thanks for checking on us.  Check back next week for Lucas' first Halloween pics- no doubt they will be super cute!

October 24, 2007-  OK, before I incite a family riot, let me explain the Red Sox pictures.  Our very good friends, The Biscaldi's, went to Boston over the summer and bought Lucas a Red Sox shirt.  I figured since the Sox are in the series, it's the perfect time to wear his shirt!  I understand that for some of you rooting for the Sox is like me rooting for Dallas- never gonna happen! However, since we aren't huge baseball fans, I don't feel this is a mortal sin- lol...I hope you still love us and invite us to family gatherings!  When it comes to baseball, Lucas can cheer for whatever team he wants, so until Lucas decides other wise, we are Red Sox fans. We have trouble when it comes to football, but I win that argument hands down (that's what 20 hours of labor gets you).  Check back tomorrow for Lucas' pediatrician update!  Until tomorrow- GO SOX!!!

October 17, 2007-  Two months old!  My how time flies!  Our little boy is growing every second, and we fall more in love with him every second.  He has already started on oatmeal bottles- which he LOVES, and Lucas has begun smiling.  I seem to be the one who gets most of them, which is fine with me...Lucas loves being sung to and enjoys seeing his cell phone and soccer ball toys.  I can't believe that only two months ago my little boy was so tiny that he fit on Jim's forearm with room to spare.  We look forward to each and every day with our precious little boy.  I have even gotten over having to buy boy clothes- let's face it, girls clothes are way cuter. All little boys have are puppies, dinosaurs, and tranportation vehicles; but when they are put on a baby as cute as Lucas, it's fine.

Despite all of our joy, our family has once again suffered another loss. My favorite ferret, Bojangles, passed away on October 11 at 4:06pm, she is the one with Lucas featured on the front page.  Bojangles, or Janie as we called her, had been sick for a long time and we knew this was coming; but the loss is none the less difficult to take.  Fortunately, like Loki, Jim and I (Lucas was napping thankfully) were with her when she passed.  I really felt that Bojangles was my first baby, a pet could not be loved more than she way.  I am just so grateful that I was able to spend over five wonderful years of my life with her.  We have lots of pictures and many funny stories, so she will always be remembered.  I was so worried that Bojangles would pass before she was able to meet Lucas.  Knowing that she met him and was the only fuzzy to show any love for him (the others could care less), means so much to me. I think she even saw herself as a helper.  Whenever he could cry, she would always come over to us and sniff at him- as if to say shhh! it's ok...She was so sweet and loving, I can't believe she's gone.

Check back next week when Lucas goes to see Dr. Serafino again...I'll be updating his stats!  Take care..We love all of you!

September 25, 2007- Today was Lucas' second visit to the pediatrician's office and he did great (except for his second round of hep b vaccine).  He gained three pounds and one ounce since August 20 (he's now at 11 pounds, 4 ounces) and grew about an inch (he's up to 22 1/2 inches).  Dr. Serafino thought he looked older then he really is.  Lucas is just such an amazing little boy and we love every little inch of him.  He changes every day and we can't believe how much he's grown in the past 6 weeks!  Keep checking for updates!

September 17, 2007- It's hard to believe that a month has passed since Lucas has entered our lives.  In one respect, it's seem like yesterday; in another, it seems like I've been a mom forever.  We can't even remember what our life was like without him (or a full night's sleep for that matter)!  Every day with is such a precious gift, he is such a joy!  He has gotten so much bigger and is starting to develop his own personality.  He just hasn't figured out what football team to root for- Giants, Cowboys, or the (neutral) Patriots.  I guess somethings just take time (GO GIANTS!)....Thanks for checking in on us, we'll be adding new pics soon!

September 5, 2007-  Well today was the first day of school, and I have to be honest, I really enjoyed not having to go!  Lucas and I did walk up to Midtown (where Mommy teaches), to see the big show for the first day, and he was great!  There were a many people who wanted to get a look at him and he didn't mind at all. Everyone thought he was just beautiful (well duh), and were so happy to meet him.  He even seemed to pay attention to the show as it was going on.  Afterwards, Lucas got to meet the world famous Midtown bears and our special guest penguins!  We had a great day, but my favorite part was spending the day with my little guy!  Take care everyone and thanks for checking on us!  Love, Denise, Jim, and Lucas

August 26, 2007- Our little boy is over a week old and we still can't believe he's ours!  Lucas does something new every day, and we are totally smitten by his every move.  Sometimes I just find myself staring at him thinking how lucky I am.  He is truly a precious little boy and the love of our life!  He is still doing well with his sleeping- about four hours at a time.  We were even lucky enough to have him sleep through the night twice already!  HE slept through the night, I was up every two hours making sure he was ok...Jim and I just feel like the luckiest people on earth to have been blessed with our perfect little Lucas- if I sound like a bragging new mom, you're right- I am!  I feel wonderful, I don't even feel like I had a c-section...That's it for now, I am going back to staring at my little boy ;)  Talk to you soon!

August  22, 2007-  Well today is our third day home, and we are happy to report that everything is going great!  Lucas is eating well and sleeping for about four hours at a time...we really hope he keeps it up.  Jim and I are still adjusting to the fact that he ours, but we are just loving our new life as a family.  We feel like we're babysitting and the baby's parents haven't come home yet!  He had his first doctor's appointment yesterday and his doctor said he's a perfect little boy (as if I didn't know that), and he only cried for a second after his first shot.  I think it was worse for Mommy and Daddy then it was for Lucas.  Well that's about it for today, Lucas and Daddy are napping now and I think I'm going to join them.  Check out the photos section, new pics were added today too...Talk to you soon!

August 20, 2007-  After what seemed like an eternity, Lucas William Diver has finally arrived at 12:37am on Friday, August 17, 2007.  He weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches long.  Sparing you all the gory details, here's the short version on the story...My water broke at 4:00am on August 16, and at that point my contractions were about 4 minutes apart.  We called the hospital and they said to come right in since my water had already broken.  I labored with absolutely no medication until Thursday evening.  I finally gave in to having the epidural only because it had been13 hours and I wasn't really dialating.  After two epidurals, and desparately in need of a third, it was close to midnight, and we were still only at five centimeters!  I was in agony and really needed to push, so my doctor looked at me and said "That's it- you've been through enough- we're doing a c-section"...At that point, I didn't care if Lucas came out through my nose- I just wanted it over with!  They drugged me up (woo hoo), and got Jim into his scrubs, and within a half hour our precious baby was born!  He is really just an amazing little boy and we are completly in love with him!  We just got home today, so that's all for the update now.  But please keep checking on us for updates and new photos!  Thank you to everyone for all of your support and love! We can't wait for all of you meet to meet our son...Love, Jim, Denise and Lucas

August 13, 2007-  It's a BOY (again, again), and still not ours!  My cousin Christina (Robert's wife) gave birth to Maxwell Sailor  this morning at about 11: 50.  He weighed in at an amazing 9 pounds 12 ounces, and measured 22 inches long with a tuft of brown hair.  He'll also be starting at outside linebacker for the Giants this weekend- just kidding (maybe next season)!  From what I hear, they are both doing well!  My dad is having surgery tomorrow, so we are planning on meeting Maxwell on Wednesday- as long as I'm not in the hospital and my dad is doing ok.  As far as I go, my back has begun to really hurt, so I'm hoping that it's a sign that our Little One will make an appearance on it's own instead of being coaxed out by the doctor!  We'll have to wait and see...As far as pink or blue goes for us, your guess is as good as ours!  But with six pregnancies and five boys, statistically speaking, there has to be a girl somewhere right?!?  It doesn't really matter, as long as it's healthy!  Talk to you soon!

August 9, 2007- Well, according to my doctor, I'm still "tight like a clam"- nice analogy huh?!?  However, the fluid level around the baby is back up (it was a little low last week), and Little One had a beautiful non-stress test today.  Soo, my doctor is willing to wait until next Saturday- August 18 and a full 10 days after my due date- to do anything.  At that point, if I don't go into labor on my own, I will be admitted to the hospital Friday night, and be induced on Saturday.  At this point, my doctor, who right now seems to be the most amazing woman on earth to me, said there is no reason to think I will have to have a c-section.  I have just the same chance as everyone else- which is really a relief to Jim and I.  Well, that's it for now, hopefully, we won't have to wait until next Saturday until Little One arrives...Keep checking for updates!

August 8, 2007- Well, the day has finally arrived- but our baby hasn't!  Today is our due date, but Little One has shown no signs of making an entrance.  I will be seeing the doctor and getting another ultrasound tomorrow, so hopefully, I will have more to post then.  The only thing we do know is that if the baby doesn't arrive on its own by next week, we will either have an induction or c-section on Wednesday or Thursday.  I can not begin to tell you how much I don't want either of those options.  We have been looking forward to and wanting a natural birth since the beginning- but of course, we will do whatever is best for the baby.  Just please keep us in your thoughts and hope that our Little One decides to arrive sometime before then. Hopefully I'll update tomorrow!  Thanks for checking on us!

August 2, 2007- As we anxiously await the arrival of our family newest member, we sadly announce the passing of one of our family's oldest.  Our beloved ferret Loki passed away this morning at 5:13.  Needless to say Jim and I are truly heartbroken.  Loki was a special little guy who made our world  a better place.  Jim and I anticpated his untimely passing and spent the night with him cuddled between us- telling him how grateful we are to have been able to have him as our first male baby and showering him with affection.  We just feel fortunate that he was with us at the time and that the decision was his.  We will never forget how he would lay on the floor and stare at us from beneath the love seat, or how he had a never ending desire to steal the telephone and remote controls.  I know that most of you aren't animal people, but for those of you who are, take a minute today to show your fuzzy baby some extra affection- for Loki's sake.  As far as the baby goes, I am still showing no signs of going into labor anytime soon!  I feel like at this point I'll be giving birth to a middle schooler!!!  But maybe now that we have an extra "angel" on our shoulder, thing will move more quickly.  We'll keep you posted!

July 25, 2007- IT'S A BOY (AGAIN)!! And no, it's still not ours!  My cousin Melanie gave birth to Andrew Richard this morning at 9:15am.  Weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces, and measuring at 20 inches, mom and baby are both doing great!  Rumor has it (according to proud Pop- Pop Uncle Richie), he looks just like big brother Jack, who looks a lot like thier daddy- Joe.   Hopefully, we'll see some pics soon!  As far as Little One goes, we're not getting our hopes up for delivery any time soon!  According to my doctor at my visit yesterday, I am showing NO signs of going into labor anytime soon (still locked up tight were her exact words).  I know these things change quickly, but for the first time the other day, I woke up and felt like I wanted to not be pregnant anymore.  I have started to waddle, and quite frankly, it's become very difficult to just roll over in bed!  I feel like I need a crane!  Plus, we are just so anxious to meet our baby and start our new life as a family.  I know the next few weeks will go quickly, and that I will miss this once it's over, but it's really difficult going to the bathroom every three hours!  Oh well...keep checking in for updates!  PS- Last baby measurement (about two weeks ago), put us at 6 lbs, 10oz and about a week ahead!  Let's hope so!

July 12, 2007- Regular OB appointment was yesterday and according to my doctor, the baby is in position but that's it- nothing else is ready yet.  Although she doesn't think I'll make it to August 8th, the baby isn't coming any time too soon!  Today was our ultrasound and non- stress test and everything is great!  The only thing is that Little One doesn't like being put on stage, so there is very little movement when we're on the monitor, so that means we stay on the monitor a little longer.  Little One now weighs 6 pounds, 10 ounces and is a thumb sucker.  How do we know this you may ask? Because we saw right there on the screen in black and white!  We could even see the sucking action in the baby's mouth and throat- of course Grandma Barb started to cry.    I wonder where Little One got that from?!?  Still no idea if it's a boy or girl, and I truly have no idea- Jim still thinks pink.  That's it for now, tomorrow is Grandpa Bill's operation so of course, we are also hoping and praying for the best.  I'll post tomorrow to let everyone know how it went.  Thanks for all of the prayers and encouraging thoughts, they seem to have worked!  Talk to you then....

July 5, 2007- Sorry it's been a while since our last update, but to be honest, there isn't anything really new to report.  We are doing weekly doctor's appointments and ultrasounds, and everything is great.  Believe it or not, Little One is already keeping me up at night but wriggling around in there.  I can only imagine what is happening.  Aside from that, I am still very comfortable- not too much swelling, I can sleep well (for the most part), and nauseuous only on occasion.  Next Thursday is growth ultrasound, so we'll have an update on height and weight!  Hope everyone had a great July 4th!

June 19, 2007- Our regular doctor's appointement was yesterday, and we saw our specialist today.  We are happy to report that everything is going wonderfully!  Despite a scare last week that landed us in labor and delivery (Little One decided to "rest" for waaaay too long), our Little One is doing perfectly.  Today's ultrasounds stats were: 125 bpm for the heartbeat, measuring at 35 weeks, which is 15 days ahead of schedule, and weighing in at robust 5 pounds 10 ounces.  Needless to say that with only 50 days left, we are getting super excited!  As much as we want to find out what we are having, we have waited this long so what's another few weeks!?!  That's it for now!  Keep checking back, things are starting to get exciting!

May 28, 2007- IT'S A BOY!!!  The answer to your question is no, Jim and I do not know what we are having...However, my cousin Susan gave birth to a healthy baby boy today at 2:51pm.  Christopher Lee Pond weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and measured 19 inches.  He has strawberry blond curly hair, and despite being over three weeks early he is doing great!  Sue is doing really well too, when I spoke with her about a half hour after having Christopher, she sounded like she had just been at the mall, not in the delivery room!  Duff is of course super excited, and Caroline finally understands what it means to be a big sister!  We are going to visit them tomorrow, and hopefully will have some pics to post.  Sue's advice to all the pregnant women in the family- go to the shore for the weekend- it worked for her!  She left Long Beach Island at 4:30 this morning, and went straight to the hospital.  Maybe I'll try that come August..Take care everyone!

May 22, 2007- Well it's been a while since we last updated, but we are happy to report that everything is fine!   My glucose test was normal, and my recent thyroid test came back a little high, which is an easy fix by changing med dosage.  My regular doctor's appointment was on May 14- I have only gained two pounds, which still puts me two pounds from pre pregancy.  Our appointment with the specialist was today, and as of this post, our precious Little One weighs 3 pounds even!  Mommy wins- my guess was 2 pounds 13 ounces, and Jim's guess was 3 pounds 7 ounces!  The baby's heartbeat was 136 bpm, and the baby is measuring at 30 weeks 2 days instead of 28 weeks 6 days- no official change in due date though.   We really just love seeing our baby as often as we can.  The ultrasound tech even complemented us on how cute our Little One's profile is, and how round it's chubby little cheeks are- and we couldn't agree more!  Our doctor's appointments will be starting to become more frequent, so be sure to check back often!  Thanks for checking on us.

PS- We DO NOT know for sure about what we are having, but both Jim and I are thinking pink!  As a matter of fact, when we were talking to the baby the other night, Little One responded to Lilly but we got nothing we asked the baby if it's name is going to be Lucas.  There was a very definite difference between the two responses.  So we'll see...we don't care either way, we just want a healthy baby!
