April 20, 2007- Today was a very busy day for Mommy and Little One (Daddy had to work)! We had an appointment at the regular OB in the morning- everything was fine and I have only gained one pound since the middle of March. Our ultrasound for the month was last week, and we were told that Little One is 1 pound, 5 ounces. So I guess I gained more baby weight than anything. Sounds good to me! Little One didn't play hide and seek with their heartbeat either today- lound and clear as soon as they checked. Then in the afternoon the baby (via Mommy and her car) had an echocardiagram done to be sure that everything is ok with Little One's heart...Again, increased risk due to hypothyroidism, but the heart is perfect! I got to see the all four chambers, the aorta, and the blood pumping through it. With this particular test they can see holes as small as one millimeter, so we are good to go! They don't even want me to come back~ now what doctor EVER tells you that? The only thing I am upset about is that I don't look pregnant. In fact, most people tell me I look better then ever, which is great, but there's no bump yet! But considering everything else is fine, what more could I ask for? I'm sure by the time July and August come, I'll be ready to not have a bump, especially if it's a typical NJ summer. That's it for now, talk to you soon! XOXO
March 20, 2007- We had our Level two ultrasound today and everything was fine. The ultrasound tech was even able to get a perfect shot of the baby's lips. They were so cute and perfectly formed. But we have either a dramatic little girl, or a shy little boy because whenever we tried to get a good picture of the baby's face, Little One would but it's hand in front of it's face. This is not a new trick that the baby has learned, we've seen it before, but it definitely seemed intentional. I gave in at the end and asked the tech the gender of Little One, but she said, "Since I met you in December, you told me you didn't want to know, so I am not telling you". So we still don't know- I was a little upset at first, but she was absolutely right! I'm glad we don't know. Life is crappy most of the time, so if you can a wonderful, genuine surprise once in a while, then why not? Appointements are until later this month, but will keep we posted!
March 19, 2007- As we reach the half point (which will be Wednesday), I am happy to report that Little One has finally made is presence known. I have definitely felt some movements! It tends to happen whenever I relax and sit or lay down. It's like nothing I have ever felt before and it's the most amazing thing! Jim is feeling a little left out since he can't feel anything yet, but he is trying to coax the baby into moving by talking to it- ALL THE TIME! He's just so happy about becoming a dad, and I know he's going to be great at it. That's it for now, just thought we'd keep you posted! Talk to you Tuesday!
March 12, 2007- We moved up the regular OB appointment today becuase I've had a sore throat lately along with some congestion and overall ickiness. Given my history with strep throat and tonsilitis, I wanted to have it checked just to be sure. The doctor took a throat culture (results will be back on Wed.), if it's positive for strep, I will go on antibiotics. If not, just a lot of fluids and rest. Everything else is fine, and the doctor found the baby's heartbeat as soon as she turned the doppler on. She said you might feel bad, but the baby is doing great and that is honestly all we could ask for! Talk to on the 20th after Level 2 ultrasound!
March 6, 2007- Another appointment with the specialist today, due to the pain in my abdomen, and everything is perfect. Our Little One has everything in the right spot- 10 little fingers and 10 little toes- although the tech commented that they were very long! Little One gets that from its Daddy. We were also able to see the brain and were informed that there are no "soft marks", a term we were not familiar with; but again, the absence of these markings indicates that there are no chromosonal abnormalities. We were even able to see the baby's mouth moving! My Dad is convinced the baby was saying "Go Giants"...Little One was having a very dramatic day! Just as the tech switched over to the 3D imaging, the baby put its hands over its face- as if to say "no pictures please"...it was really rather adorable. And again, even if we wanted to find out what we are having, we couldn't, because legs, and now ankles, were perfectly positioned not to show a thing. Well, that's it for now, regualr doc appointment next Wednesday, and Level II u/s on the 20th. Take care til then!
February 20, 2007- We had an appointment with the specialist today and everything checked out perfectly! The heartbeat was 150 bpm and the baby weighs about 6 ounces. The tech who did the ultrasound said that according to the size of the baby, we are 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant, not 15 wks and 6 days. While 5 days doesn't seem like a big difference, I guess with as quickly as the baby is growing, it is a big difference. I also think that 5 days in the heat of August will be a big difference for me as well! While our due date has not officially changed, it is now "somewhere" between August 3 and August 8. I will be going back to the doctor on March 6 because of some uncomfortableness in my abdomen area. They just want to make sure that it is being caused by my ligaments streching and not anything else. So far we have nothing to worry about, but better safe then sorry. Unfortunately, we do not have a 4D ultrasound pic to show this time because everytime the tech tried to get one, the baby's face looked like it was smushed up against window. Trust me it wasn't flattering and I'm the Mommy! As far as finding out what we are having, we decided not to find out, but even if we did, Little One is once again playing hide and seek. Legs were perfectly positioned not to show us anything, which is fine with us, we just think its humorus. Jim thinks its intentional- we'll see in August! Hope all is well with you all! Talk to you on March 6th!
February 12, 2006- Our regular OB appt was supposed to be on Wednesday, but due to impending bad weather, my doctor wanted to move it up. We are happy to report that everything is fine. Little One is perfectly sized for this point in the pregnancy, my blood pressure is fine, and I gained 2 pounds. I guess those 5 saltines and can of ginger ale I keep down each day is working. My doctor is confident that the baby is ok and hogging up all the nutrients before I get my share...to be honest, that's fine with me! We did get a little nervous when the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat for a few minutes, but apparently Little One likes to play hide and seek. The baby did the same thing at the last doctor's appointment, but once it was "found" we heard a strong steady heartbeat- one our doctor said we should be proud of, and we are! The specialist is next week and we'll keep you posted!
January 23, 2007- Another appointment with the specialist and everything went well. The baby has grown from 11mm to 55mm! We were able to see the baby moving around, it was really the most amazing thing I have ever seen- could our little one be a dancer? Or future Hall of Fame running for the Giants? It's just so wonderful that something the size of my thumb can be moving so much. We did get the required "alien" ultra sound photo- a little scary- but we also saw the 4D ultrasound, which actually looks like a human! We are just so grateful the baby is doing well! February appointments are the 14th with regular doctor, and the 21st with specialist. Until then, stay warm...
January 15, 2007- Appointment with regular OB. All went well, blood work and thyroid levels right they should be. Even though we are only about 11 weeks along, we were able to hear the heartbeat, the doctor said it was a good strong heartbeat- I guess all the morning sickness (that lasts all day) worth it. . I'll try to remember that the next time I'm revisiting with lunch! By the way, I did lose 9 pounds because of the sickness, but it's all worth it!
December 26, 2006- All went well at the specialist today. We even got to hear the heartbeat! Everything was just where it should be, in terms of heartbeat and growth. We also got our first baby picture, well, it's more like a smudge- but it's still our Little One..On the upside of going to the specialist, we do get to have an ultrasound every month to monitor the baby's growth. More pics for the scrapbook..
December 13, 2006- Well it was a typical run of the mill (I guess) doctor's appointment. The one thing we were not expecting was being told that because of my thyroid, my pregnancy is considered high risk. YIKES! We are being referred to a specialist, and that appointment is scheduled for the day after Christmas...let's hope for a Merry Christmas for us all!! (Little One included!)
December 1, 2006- Well, I was supposed to get my tonsils out today, but SURPRISE- positive pregnancy test! We couldn't be happier! So, needless to say, the tonsils are still in! We called the doctor and started pre natal vitamins today and made our first doctor's appointment. We'll keep you posted...
