8/18/08 It's Laney! Today I started Gymnastics! Mommy said I need to work on my listening skills, but the teachers said I did great for my first class. Hopefully we'll have pictures from another time. (The parent viewing rooms didn't allow for any great shots because you're look through a window.) Mommy asked me if I want to go again and shouted, "Yes!" 8/17/08 It's Emry! Today we went to our very first Red's Game! It was Faith Day at Great American Ballpark (sponsored by the Creation Museum) and our church purchased 40 tickets! So we went with a big group and had a great time! I took a cat nap on the way down and made it through the whole game without whining too much! Laney was kept super busy by all of her teenage friends and her nursery playmate, Cate. It was a blast and the Red's the won! On the way home Laney asked Mommy, "Why didn't you get in the game?" Mommy said the Red's just didn't know what they were missing :o)
8/11/08 It's Laney! The celebration continues! My birthday party was Saturday and it was tons of fun! I got lots of cool presents and most of my cousins were there.
Aunt Kim, Uncle Jimmy, Trey & Breanna got me a Build-a-Bear gift card. So tonight, we went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop and I stuffed my very own Kitty (that's her name too)! She even has a "meow" button in her arm. I picked out a Hello Kitty outfit for her and everything.
Then we went to Toys-R-Us! Mommy signed me up for the Birthday club and they sent me a $3 gift card! They gave me a birthday crown and balloon and even announced that I was there and sang happy birthday. Mommy says she would totally recommend it...I thought I was the only kid in the store!
8/4/08 Happy 3rd Birthday Laney! We had a busy day today! We started off stopping by Aunt Boo's work so she could give Laney a present since she's going to be in Brazil for her party. Then we went to Mama & Papa's to swim with Grant, Ava & Dylan! Grant made Laney some special brownies and they all sang Happy Birthday! It was tons of fun! When we got home, we took a nap and when we got up there was another present hanging on the mailbox from Bro. Kirk & Miss Ginna. Then we headed to church for the OVBA Bible Jubilee. What a great day!

8/2/08 NOTE: I'm "testing" a new Pictures section. I've put all of the pictures in albums, so now you can look at them all or just pick an album to look at. E-mail me with any questions.
7/28/08 It's Emry! Today Mommy, Daddy & Laney went to Kings Island with the teenagers at church. Laney loved it! She's definitely not afraid of roller coasters or rides...the only problem was that she isn't tall enough for most of them. She went on every ride she could ride in about 2 hours! She had a blast. One of the teenager's moms was dropping him off about midway through the day so Laney ended up going home with her so Mommy & Daddy could ride the big rides. They had a blast too...we'll see how they feel tomorrow! I stayed with Mama all day so I had lots of fun too! (By the way, Mommy forgot the camera, so Daddy took all the pics on his phone...sorry.)
7/21/08 It's Laney! Last week Mommy & Daddy were at Teen Camp in Dayton, TN, so we got to stay (the majority of the time) with Mama & Papa and Aunt Georgie & Aunt Mary kept us too! We went to the ball game, the water park, we got to ride on the golf cart every day and swim in the pool...it was a blast.
Mommy & Daddy missed us like crazy, but they had a good week too. They said it was probably the best trip to camp in the 6 years they've been taking the teenagers. Three of the girls made professions of faith and a lot more made other commitments of purity and rededication. Besides that, the kids get along so well. In past years there has been so much conflict, but these kids are so close that they didn't have any problems at all. They took 20 kids which was also the largest group they've taken. It was a great week for all of us.
It's Emry! More funny stories! The other morning Laney slept-in really late...like 10:00 or so! I, of course, am an early riser. So, while Laney was sleeping Momma made some muffins for breakfast. When Laney finally did roll out of bed and come downstairs, Momma told her, "Good morning! I made some muffins while you were sleeping." Laney responded, "For me?!?" Momma said, "Of course." Laney thrilled asked, "It's my birthday now?" Momma about melted. I guess when Momma made all of the cupcakes for my birthday, Laney associated cupcakes & muffins with birthdays. It was very sweet.

7/4-7/5 It's Emry! The last few days we traveled down south to Williamsburg, KY for the Edwards Family Reunion. Uncle Vic & Aunt "Sleepy" host the get together on their farm...and I mean farm. They have goats, chickens, roosters, horses, sheep, bees & a lot of land! We got to spend a lot of time with Nana & Peepaw, Aunt Kim & Uncle Jimmy, and Breanna & Trey. We also got to meet a lot of new people who had never even seen us before and catch up with family we hadn't seen in a long time. It was great fun.
MORE STORIES by Laney.
I am obsessed with comparing things. A few months ago we were on one of our many trips down Ronald Reagan Highway and I saw a gold buick. I got all excited and said, "Mommy that's Mama's car!" Mommy explained that it wasn't Mama's car, but it looked like Mama's car. Next was Aunt Boo's car. We see blue Jeep's everywhere and I always think it's Aunt Boo, but Mommy would insist that it just looked like it. Then Aunt Wana's car...by now it was anything red and SUV-like. Next I started comparing people. I saw a little girl swimming in the hotel pool down in Berea in May and thought she looked like Rachel (my friend from church) only I figured out that it wasn't and told Daddy..."it just looked like Rachel." Well, I've been doing this for months now and I've come up with some pretty funny comparisons.
Most of you know Aunt Wana had her hair colored, only it turned out a little too red. We were watching the 10 o'clock news a couple weeks ago and I saw the red-headed morning news lady and told Mommy, "Hey that looks like Aunt Wana. It's not, it just looks like her." Mommy and Daddy got a good laugh and made sure to tell Aunt Wana. But the funniest comparisons I've made were this last week. We had gone to the mall and were eating at the food court. I was looking around and spotted another comparison. I said, "Mommy, mommy!!! That looks like you." Mommy turned to look at my latest find and got a great laugh. She found me pointing at a teenage boy going through some sort of dark stage! He was blonde, with longer hair (for a boy), he had spent quite a bit of time straightening it, & he was wearing dark black guy-liner. Daddy was in line at the time, so when he returned to the table Mommy asked him if he saw anyone who "looked like Mommy" and he about spit his food out when he saw the guy. It was hilarious! Well, a couple of nights later, we were watching the 10 o'clock news again and they were telling us about the latest Cincinnati arrests. All of a sudden I start yelling again, "That looks like my Daddy!" All eyes turned to the TV to see an African-American man & his proverbial mug-shot! So Mommy & Daddy got another great laugh and are starting to question how I view them! 7/2/08 Happy Birthday Uncle Ron!
7/1/08 It's Emry! Laney & I got a Zoo Pass for our birthdays from Mama & Papa, Aunt Boo & family, Aunt Wana & family, and Uncle Joe & family. Mommy and Daddy were finally able to take us for a short time. Laney had seen a sign with the big giraffes on it and really wanted to see the real ones. The plan was to spend most of the time there, but the giraffes weren't very active or social. The zoo man said they're still warming up because they just got here, so we'll have to go back to them later in the summer. We ended up spending the most time at the gorillas. Laney loved them! She was even hootin' at them to get their attention. Plus there was a baby gorilla who was very entertaining. We had so much fun and can't wait to go back again.
6/28/08 Happy Birthday Mama! We love you!
6/26/08 It's Laney! Children's Hopsital just called and said Emry's biopsies came back normal just as we expected. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for her!
6/25/08 It's Emry! I had my 1 year check up today! The doctor said I'm 20 lbs. 2 oz., which is in the 25th-50th percentile for weight and I'm 29 3/4" tall, which is in the 50th-75th percentile for height! She said my motor skills are more like a 15 month old with all of the climbing and running I do now. While my sleeping skills are more like a 6 month old, I slept the best I've ever slept while Daddy was at Kids Kamp last week. He came back and now I'm back to waking up once during the night. (I slept until 7 am every morning for Momma...either that or she just didn't hear me yelling for her...she's a deep sleeper so we're not sure which.) The doctor also said my verbal skills are right on par. They expect 3-5 words by 12 months and my vocabulary now includes - Daddy, Momma, Mama, Wana, hi, bye, bath, ball, bite, ba-ba, eye/I, & thanks (I've tried saying Laney and cup but they just don't come out right). The doctor asked if I can work simple puzzles and Momma was kind of confused because she hasn't introduced the puzzles yet, but she meant if I take things in and out of a bucket or push something over so I can climb up and reach something and I'm a pro at both. I'm still making messes faster than Momma can clean up after me. I also still put EVERYTHING in my mouth...if I can find it, I eat it. Except the food Momma tries to give me. I'm completely switched over to table food and Momma has tried giving me small pieces of bananas, cantelope, grapes, & etc. I play with them for a while and then spit them out. But I WILL eat crayons, dirt, fuzz, or anything off the floor. Some people have suggested that Momma just put the food and the floor to try and syke me out, but I'm too smart for them...I know the difference. Momma says she'll just keep trying. Laney and I are quickly becoming best friends and worst enemies :o) We're playing together more and more, but this also means we're fighting more and more. I want to do whatever she's doing and my big sister knows I'm not allowed to do or have certain things. She tries to be my other mommy, only she kind of snatches or pushes more than she gently takes something away. Momma says she's trying to teach Laney to continue to help, but not to be too hard on me. It's a very fine line for a almost 3 year old to walk :o)
The doctor's office had also received the results of my blood allergy test. The doctor said I'm not allergic to anything! It's a bit confusing because it still doesn't explain the weird rash I've had for so long, but it really is great news. She said they tested me for every kind of tree, mold, fungus, grass, dogs, cats, roaches, barium, basically anything you can think of and I was not allergic to any of them! I guess the cause of my rash will just remain a mystery, but at least Momma and Dadda don't have to worry about protecting me from anything imparticular.
Momma and Dadda say they feel very blessed with all of the news/results we've received over the last few days. They say they can deal with lack of sleep over a food allergy or something much more serious any day!
6/23/08 It's Laney! Emry had her endoscopy today. The doctor said everything looked great! She said we should have the results of the biopsies by Thursday, but based on how everything looked she doesn't expect there to be any allergy. She said hopefully over time the reflux will get better and she wants Mommy and Daddy to continue giving her the Prevacid for her comfort during the night. She also said to allow her to "graze" and eat small meals frequently. Actually she said to make sure her snacks are just mini meals. Emry did really well with the anesthesia too (in comparison to the tubes, Mommy said it was like night and day).
Emry is still battling a rash (going on 8 weeks now) and 2 weeks ago they sent her for a blood allergy test, but we haven't gotten the results back yet. The rash has improved over the last week but it is still there, so hopefully that will give us some answers soon. She also hasn't had her 1 year checkup yet...it's Wednesday...we'll let you know how she checks in then. Otherwise, she has become a really happy baby who is guaranteed to make you smile! She's a bit of mystery with all of these wierd illnesses, but Mommy and Daddy say she is such a joy!
It's Emry! I have another funny story about Laney. She is in love with the moon! Momma even caught this picture of her gazing at it out the window. When it starts to even seem late (it doesn't have to be dark at all) she asks, "Mommy is the moon out?" Well, one night she and Dadda were out watering the flowers and Laney immediately found the moon. Only this time, she got really upset. She said, "Oh no! Oh no!" Dadda asked her what was wrong and she told him, "The moon is missing pieces!" He looked up to find a quarter moon and we all had to laugh. He explained that it wasn't missing pieces, part of it was only hiding. She calmed down, but she still says it's missing pieces whenever it's not really big and round.
6/15/08 Happy Father's Day Daddy!
