April 01, 2009 ~ It was time for me to leave bhp. I wasn't giving it the love it deserved. So now I can and do it for FREE. It really wasn't about the money but more about the guilt of never doing it. So now there is no guilt and I can add pics and stories or not. Plus, my girls aren't going through as many changes as when they were younger. I did order the pdf and when I get it I will let you all know how great it is. You can always find me on facebook. "Tina Ham Ekman"
Comments NOOOOO! Why is everyone leaving? I love BHP that's how I meet all of you great mommies. Well keep in touch and stop by oursite once in awhile just to say hi. - The Lowes

January 17, 2009 ~ Well it's the 15th anniversary of the Northridge earthquake. What a long time it has been since that earthquake. We didn't have that much damage. But we had friends and family who lost lots. Just wanted to remember that time.
I got all my pics up from our New Years vacation in Ventura. I had lots. Looking through the pics again reminds me of what a wonderful time we all had. It was sure cold then. The weather now has been wonderful in the mid 80's all week. They say we will have rain again by the end of next week. It was nice having sunshine and warm weather but we do need the rain. So I will welcome it when it gets here. But I will definately enjoy the sunshine for now.
January 05, 2006 ~ I have lots to tell you about my vacation in Ventura. I have over 250 pics to go thru and put up. I started working with my husband at our auto repair shop. I am answering phones and making appointments. Some kind of a sercretary I guess. Be patient with me; I promise I will get the pics up soon. Hope you SHINE in 2009.
December 26, 2008 ~ On Christmas Eve we drove to Murrieta. We left at 830 am and was able to make it there in less than 2 hours. No traffic. Yeah! We unload the van and then Kirsten and I went and had pedicures. It was nice. We might have to do that every year. The girls rec'd lots of nice gifts. Greg and I did too. We had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings plus Opa's fresh apple pie and pumpkin pie and Oma made a pumpkin spice layered cake for Greg's Bday. They didn't see him on his bday so she wanted to have a cake for him too. Christmas morning, Oma and Opa made eggs benedict for breakfast.
Then we headed home; again no traffic. When we arrived home Santa had been by and left Emily with some uggs and Ashley and Karly with new bikes. We all open presents and then Greg and I rested and the girls checked out all their new toys and games and what not.
We arrived at Gramma and Papa's home in the afternoon. This time we had ham, twice baked potatos, Amanda's mac-n-cheese, and lots of other yummy food and lots of pies and goodies to enjoy.
The girls rec'd lots more clothes and Emily finally got the MP3 she has been asking for.
This was a perfect holiday with all our friends and family to enjoy it with...
December 22, 2008 ~ Gramma came over today to bake goodies to pass out for Cmas. She was here from 9am to 4:30pm. That's 7-1/2 hours. We baked alot. Had lots of fun too. The girls painted some sugar cookies too.
Comments I think we need to do that again, we got so much done and had a blast. Great use of time and wonderful memories made and nice gifts too. Hugs, -

December 17, 2008 ~ Every year the girls in the 2nd grade get to do a oral report about an ancestor. Emily did it when she was in 2nd grade and now Ashley did hers and Karly will get to do one next year. After the speeches were done they had a luncheon and all the children's parents made a dish from their ancestors country. I made bratwurt and suarekraut. Unfortunatly the pic of her doll did not come out well. So I will have to wait until she goes back to school to get that pic. I will be sure to get that pic on here. Her ancestor is from Germany.
December 16, 2008 ~ Every year the girls sing at school for the holidays. Every year I can barely see them. See if you can find them. Emily isn't in it this year because she is over at the middle school.
December 15, 2008~ We had such a fun-filled day yesterday. We woke up early Sunday morning to get ready for Ava's baby dedication an hour away at the Torresluna's church. Upon arriving at our destination. Ashley got car sick and threw up. We were less than 5 minutes away. Now had to find a store to get Ashley in a new pretty outfit. We found a K-Mart closeby and was able to get her a nice little outfit, in time to get to church but missing the baby dedication.
In-between service and the party we had an hour and a half to spare. Ashley and Karly went to sunday school with Madeline and Emma. Emily went to breakfast with Gramma, Papa & Auntie Debbie, while Greg and I went to Home Depot.
That time past so quickly and before we knew it we were back at the church celebrating Ava's first birthday. You know I never would have believed Ava would eat her whole slice of cake. But I saw it with my own eyes.
We arrived back at our home around 4:00. Just enough time to rest a bit and then head out to The 12th annual "Spark of Love" toy drive at the Moorpark train station. Whoo was it ever cold. I was thinking it might rain and that they might cancel the whole thing. But it didn't. Thank goodness. It was so beautiful. The first time I had ever seen this and I will probably take the girls every year. Gramma, Papa, Auntie Amanda, Auntie Kathy and cousins Keri, Rob and Stephanie were all there to enjoy the train.
December 13, 2008 ~ Happy Birthday to my sweet husband and to a wonderful father to our 3 daughters. I love you, Babe.
December 11, 2008 ~ Took Emily today to the Urgent Care I was at on Tuesday. Long story short..... she has a fracture and has to wear a brace for 2 weeks. Christmas morning she gets to take it off. I will get a pic up soon. I promise. Before Monday... Gotta at least give me a couple days. I have like a hundred pics to post. Ok-ok, I know I have had like 2 weeks to post. Well sorry, I am alittle addicted to facebook. I don't know how it happened but it just did.
December 10, 2008 ~ Last night while at AWANA's Emily was running backwards in the sancuary at church. Real smart Emily. Well anyways she tripped over a sweatshirt onto a pile of books. She came to me and said she hurt herself. I asked her if she wanted to go back to class, she said it really hurts mom. So Greg had to come and get her and take her home. She went to school today and seems ok. But I don't know. I don't have a very good helper anymore. Emily and I both working with only one hand. You should see us trying to do our hair...
December 09, 2008 ~ Today when I was at my mom's house. I would have to say that almost every day since my grandmothers death I have seen my mom. And in the last recent days I have been helping her decorate for christmas. Decorating for christmas really helps you get into the spirit. Mom has been having a hard time with this. Also knowing she needs and wants the home decorated for all her grandbabies. I thought that it would be fun to have a little christmas brunch for some of our friends. Then she would have to decorate for christmas. Right? So anyways back to my story. I was taking a candle off of a nice plate my mom had and I couldn't get it off of there. I didn't want to stick it in the freezer because it was a piece of her depression glass. So I had this great idea of taking it off with a steak knife. Good one, Tina! You are brillant! Well anyways, it was starting to come off and all the way around, so I put the knife down and tried to losen it off the plate. Didn't work. So while holding the plate tighter with my left hand and pushing the knife harder with my right hand I got the candle off of the plate but not without stopping the knife with me left hand. I won't tell you all the yucky details. I had to go to Urgent Care and I have 2 stitches. So with that being said, please just stick whatever you have to take a candle off of our out of in the freezer it will pop right off of the plate or whatever. Lesson learned. *On a good note.... I can't get my hand wet for 2 days, so Emily will be doing the dishes for me. Yeah!
December 04, 2008 ~ Every year on this day; I can't believe that it has gone by so quickly to the following year. Ashley Joy is 8 today. Crazy. Not only every year does she get a year older it reminds me that it has been that long since I have turned 30. Because on my 30th I went onto labor with Ashley and had her the next day. I love to watch her grow into a young lady. Before I know it. I love you, Sweetie.
December 03, 2008 ~ Happy Birthday to Me!!
December 02, 2008~ Happy 1st Birthday to Ava Claire. We love you, Sweetie!
December 01, 2008 ~ On thanksgiving we went to my mom and dad's for a turkey dinner. It was nice to have my family, along with Julie's family and Amanda & Luis at moms for the special occasion. Grandpa Ham, Aunt Debbie and cousin Jaime were there also. We all had a good time. The dinner was perfect. Although Grandma Dory was missed. It was not the same with her not there. It is something that will take awhile getting used too.
On Friday, Greg, the girls and I went camping in Ventura. My mom and dad came to stay one night with us and since Julie and her family were going to be visiting some friends up in Oxnard, decided to meet us at the campground and walk into town and have lunch together.
We all had such a nice time. We love going camping. Not to mention having an RV helps when it gets cold at night. We always camped in tents when I was young. So it's nice to be able to have and RV.
We plan on going again for the New Year's holiday too. I can't wait.

My grandmother. I am going to speak at my Grandma Dory's service tomorrow and this is what I am going to say:
When I think of Grandma Dory.... smiles come to mind. I loved Grandma; we had such a great relationship. I remember before I had any children; I went to visit her once a week at her home on Zelzah. I would get there no earlier than 9:30am. She said she wouldn't get up early even for me. She needed her beauty rest. She certainly got it because she was a beautiful woman inside and out. So I would try and get there around 10am. But if anyone knows me I was always there early. So when I arrived I would watch her put her makeup on and then we would play some cards, Spite and Malice, and then I would take her to run her errands. We would go to lunch and always come back in time to watch
General
Hospital
and play a couple more hands of cards. This is how our day played out every week when I would visit her. She was going to teach me how to sew valances for the girls bedrooms but when I brought the fabric she wasn't willing to give up our regular schedule and said we would do it next week. When I arrived the following week they were already made. We then followed our normal day together. This is the kind of grandma I had. So loving.
When she moved to the Motion Picture home; we didn't play cards anymore , she really couldn't hold them right. I know she missed it. But I still took her to run errands. She loved going to the mall and going to dinner and always going to Coldwater Creek to purchase a new top.
I enjoyed spending time with Grandma. Whether it was going to the movies, running errands or just spending time together at the lodge. We had great times together.
I remember one time she invited the girls and I to come and watch a Mariachi Band play at the motion picture home. She always loved having others around. Including Children.
Grandma Dory was more to me than my grandma. She was my friend. And I will miss her very much.
Comments You did such a gret job sharing yesterday!! The words you said were beautiful! - Julie

November 16, 2008 ~
Happy Birthday Auntie Kirsten!! We LOVE you!!
November 09, 2008 ~ First let me start off by saying.... Welcome to the family, Luis. We love you. We can't wait to continue to spend all of our family functions together with you, but now it's official and instead of me having the girls call you "uncle" it will be with honor Uncle Luis. We love you.
Amanda & Luis' wedding was simply amazing. I have truly never been to such a beautiful ceremony. The church was decorated with such gorgeous flowers. It was set perfect for when my dad walked Amanda down the isle. She looked incredible. Luis looked so handsome waiting for his bride. It was breath taking.
Amanda & Luis' wrote their own wedding vows. They both did great. What an example for all unwed friends and family to hear. Plus all us married couples had something to just remember what we had taken our vows for too. It was just so lovely. It was just fitting when Amanda's girlfriend and our family friend sang a song called "When God Made You".
As sister of the bride, I was feeling a bit nervous before the wedding thinking of how I was going to fullfil my roll and be a mother to a jr bridesmaid, a candle lighter, and a flower girl. Everything went on so smoothly. It couldn't of gone any more perfect.
After the ceremony, Mr and Mrs Barrios, had some pictures with Grandma Dory while all of us attendees waited patiently outside. We lined the outside of the church on both sides of the walk and threw rose petals as Amanda & Luis' ran to an awaiting vintage car to wisk them over to Westlake Inn.
The reception was gorgeous as well. All the flower arrangements and lighting set the tone for the evening. We all had such an amazing time.
My parents gave Amanda and Luis the wedding she had dreamed about. It was so perfect. They gave a wonderful wedding for their 3rd daughter. You went out with a "bang" for your final wedding. You are empty-nesters now. Mom and Dad, I love you. Thanks for making this day so perfect for them. Thank you for setting high standard for your daughters to look to. I must say we all did well with picking our husbands. With your example of a great marriage. You work hard at your marriage so us girls new we would have to do the same. Plus telling us to put God first is the right way to go. So thanks.
Thank you, Greg, for being such a wonderful husband, for taking care of the girls, while I was at the salon getting all dolled up for the wedding. I am so truly blessed to have a husband like you. Christian too. He stayed back with his children and helped while Julie was at the salon with me and the other bridesmaids, Amanda and our mom. Julie and I had such fun getting our hair and makeup done. We looked stunning. Almost as stunning as Amanda if I do say so myself.
November 07, 2008 ~ Tonight is the rehersal and dinner for Amanda and Luis' wedding. It seems like yesterday they got engaged. I can't believe it's here. I promised myself I wouldn't get all teary eyed as I am writing this little tid-bit but it's too late. Let's hope my makeup stays put for the wedding tomorrow. Yeah right...
Amanda is marring a really great guy. He brings out the best in her and the same in him. They compliment eachother well.
I don't know if I will be able to bring my camera and be taking pics as I am in the wedding as well as the girls. I will do my best to get some pics up here some how. Maybe Julie's camera. She's more responsible than I. I'd probably lose mine.
Julie and I are bridesmaids. Emily is a jr. bridesmaid. Ashley and Madeline and candlelighters. Emma and Karly are the flowergirls. and Landon will be honoring our mom as mother of the bride. (with flowers)
I have a program. I will get a copy of it up soon. It's beautiful.
