HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY, ETHAN!
It doesn't seem real that we have a 5 year old son but effective today, this is indeed a fact. Ethan has officially turned 5 years old. This seems like a "kid" age and definitely no longer a toddler age. Wasn't he just a baby?
Today was a great day. It's started off with a donut & Lucky Charms for breakfast and a trip to school with homemade sugar cookies for the class. He returned with a crown looking birthday hat on his head and a smile that wouldn't quit. After playing Wii, spending time outside, pancakes for dinner and presents to boot, we finished the night watching home movies from when Ethan was 2, then 3 years old. I can't believe he was ever that little but looking at this 5 year old picture, I can't believe this school aged boy was once a baby. He's such an amazing young man.
I turned sappy on him yesterday, blabbering on about him being 4 for the last day and getting extra long hugs but he seemed a little concerned about that and just laughed while pushing away saying, "you're kidding, Mom!". (sigh) I so wish I was. I definitely think Trey is contributing to the realization that these little babies do grow up and will one day be quite independent. So I want to stop and appreciate this time, the now moments, and soak up every second I can.
We have submitted our kindergarten applications for the public school system and Ethan starts Tee-ball at the end of the month. He's doing big boy things now and we are so unbelievably proud of this once baby...it's something you can only learn through the evolution of being a parent and I'm certain there are lots more of these realizations yet to come.
Happy Birthday, baby boy Ethan. Your Mom & Dad love you with every piece of our hearts & souls. We are SO incredibly proud.

Mary bumped her head pretty hard and after a second she realized how badly it hurt. After consoling her for a few minutes, I asked her if she was okay, and she responded with a "no!" while crying. So I said, "Oh no, well I guess candy wouldn't help then". Mary sniffed a couple of times then paused (thinking...thi...
We went to a Louisville Bats game and when a vendor walked by shouting, "Roasted Nuts! Pecans! Cashews! Almonds!", Ethan asked what he had. When we told him "nuts" and wanted to know why so we explained he was walking around any case anyone wanted to eat nuts. Ethan then asked curiously, "People eat nuts?&n...
Mary found a cough drop wrapper on the ottamon and asked if she could throw it away. I told her no because it has my germs all over it. She leaned over it and curiously examined the wrapper.
Mary was searching all over my face to plant a kiss and I was keeping her away from my lips because I've been sick so I reminded her not to kiss my lips. She responded, "Do you still have crumbs in your mouth?".
While cleaning Mary's face and hands after lunch, I asked Mary, "How are you?". She quickly responded with her fingers up in the air and said, "I'm two Mom. I'm two".
We were putting the kids in the car while leaving Aunt Ba's house for the weekend when Ethan mentioned that Aunt Ba and Uncle Brian had two cars, just like us, then stated everybody has two cars. I explained to him that some people had two cars, others had one and some people don't have any cars at all. Ethan was very quick to explain, "Li...
