Stories
Today, we went to a Louisville Bats game (and had a great time!). When a vendor walked by shouting, "Roasted Nuts! Pecans! Cashews! Almonds!", Ethan asked what he had. When we told him "nuts" and wanted to know why so we explained he was walking around any case anyone wanted to eat nuts. Ethan then asked curiously, "People eat nuts? I thought nuts were for squirrels!".
Mary found a cough drop wrapper on the ottamon and asked if she could throw it away. I told her no because it has my germs all over it. She leaned over it and curiously examined the wrapper.
Mary was searching all over my face to plant a kiss and I was keeping her away from my lips because I've been sick so I reminded her not to kiss my lips. She responded, "Do you still have crumbs in your mouth?".
While cleaning Mary's face and hands after lunch, I asked Mary, "How are you?". She quickly responded with her fingers up in the air and said, "I'm two Mom. I'm two".
We were putting the kids in the car while leaving Aunt Ba's house for the weekend when Ethan mentioned that Aunt Ba and Uncle Brian had two cars, just like us, then stated everybody has two cars. I explained to him that some people had two cars, others had one and some people don't have any cars at all. Ethan was very quick to explain, "Like Mary and Joseph. They didn't have a car so they had to walk everywhere and sometimes they would even run!" Not exactly what I was going to say next but I love the way his little mind works!
Mary and I (Sarah) were walking through a busy department store this weekend looking for the bathroom. Mary curiously and loudly asked, "Why do you have to go to the potty?" I quickly responded with, "because", hoping that answer what be satisfactory. Mary immediately asked, "Do you have to put your poop in it?" Seriously, we were walking passed people constantly so I just said no. Then she followed up with, "Do you have to put your pee in it?" In an effort to keep the questions from coming, I just answered "yes" and continued walking thinking it was over when Mary commented with, "Oh, I love pee!!!".

Mike and I were complimenting Ethan on his good manners during dinner when he said, "I have good manners like Noah, Anna, Aunt Ba, Uncle Brian, Mamaw & Papaw, and Killer & Chipper". He then said in a silly voice, "whaw, whaw, whaw!!!" (this is something I say to him if he falls down.) So I said, "why did you say, whaw, whaw, whaw"? And he said, "Because Chipper & Killer can't talk!!!"
We were eating dinner at a restuarant when our server brought over the most perfectly cooked medium rare prime rib. When Ethan saw the plate hit the table, he said, "Mom, can I have a bite of your watermelon?"
Ethan finished his snack and asked for more. When the answer was, "No", he responded in a very sad and whiney voice with, "Just do me a favor and give me anything I want, okay"?
Sarah was running errands with Ethan and Mary. It was around lunch time and she said, "Are you guys hungry?" They both responded with big "yeah's!" So Sarah said, "what sounds good?", and Ethan enthusastically reponded with, "LUNCH!"
Mary had just gotten tomato juice on her shirt while Sarah was cleaning up the mess. Topless Mary suddenly cried, "Mom! I have a bug bite!" to which Sarah replied with, "Oh no! Where?" Mary looked down and pointed to her nipple and said, "Right here!!!"
Mike was watching golf one afternoon and left to run some errands. Sarah changed the channel and Ethan whined, "why did you turn my show off?"
Hi! How are you! It's Ethan here and I thought it was time to get everyone up to speed on my busy schedule.
For those of you that don't know, I get to stay home with Mary and my Daddy very day. It is the best! We get to eat breakfast together everyday, I love watching Daddy get the paper from the mailbox and it's fun staying in my pajamas in the morning.
My favorite toys are cars and trains, and I really love playing outside. And Mary is so funny. She's so easy to make laugh, and I really like it when she plays with toys because I always think it's my turn next. No matter what I'm doing, she always has more fun with her toys. So I take them! Mom and Dad are always telling me to stop but I think if I keep doing this repeatedly, they'll see I have more fun than Mary was having.
I had my first dentist appointment with Dr. Kim, and I was soooo excited to go. the place was so cool with a big table of toys to play with. I thought this was the best dentist ever but then they made me move and painted my teeth purple. I wasn't very happy about that until I saw how silly I looked but then it was hilarous! I looked awesome. So the doctor looked at my teeth and had me lay down. I didn't care for the whole thing but it went by fast and my doctor was very nice. The best part was, I got bubbles and a sticker when I was done! I'll do ANYTHING for bubbles! Mom says the best part was the doctors report on my healthy teeth. She said I get my teeth from my Dad but I can tell Dad has his own teeth, so how could I have his?
I'm super excited about summer. I love watering plants and flowers outside and I really like swinging on our playset and mowing the lawn with Daddy. It's so much fun. I can't wait until it's officially swimsuit season!
Hey everybody! Do you recognize me? I'm the new girl in town who has just been too plain busy to write. I thought it was finally time to give this website a girls touch. I wanted to change the color of the web page to pink, but my crazy brother wouldn't agree. Oh well. He's pretty good about bringing me toys and making me laugh so I guess we can keep this green color for now.
Where should I start? Let's see, I'm seven months old now, eating all kinds of fruits and vegetables and I love to sleep. Eating is a chore of mine but I keep taking bites to make my mom and dad happy. Plus, I love sitting in that tall chair so I try to stall as much as possible. Sleeping is my very favorite thing to do ever. I'm easily sleeping 12 hours a night and I take at least two naps a day, and usually end up squeezing in a short snooze before dinner, too.
My mom thinks I have my dad's personality because I love to watch TV (especially sports), I'm mesmerized by the remote control and I would prefer to just lie around then go out and socialize. I like to be talked to pretty much, but I'd rather people come to me and give me my space, just like him. But so far he's a pretty cool guy so that's okay with me, except he says I can't date until I'm 30. I would argue with him on that but I should probably find out what "dating" is first. If I am like my daddy, I'll try and argue my case with him anyway!
Other interesting facts about me are that I still suck my thumb when I'm sleepy, I think my brother Ethan is the funniest person in the universe (however big THAT is), and I happen to be a Mama's girl. I can't help it! I'm fascinated by her hair and jewelry and I just love to play with them as much as possible. Oh, and I'm 7 months old yet and I have yet to pop a tooth. Ethan says it will help me eat good food but I don't care much about that anyway. I also still have grayish colored eyes and blondish colored hair, which is not like my brother or Mom, but I think Daddy was a blonde when he was my age so I guess I get that from him, too.
Speaking of Ethan, he is very good at taking care of me when I get all emotional. He'll talk to me and try to make me laugh and will even bring me some toys while telling me not to cry. He's so nice that he always greets me in the morning with a quick story and loves to call me things like "lady" and "baby". He's a really good brother and I can already tell that we'll always be good friends. I can't imagine not having him around to take care of me.
Thanks for waiting so patiently for my very first story!
Lots and lot of hugs &kisses,
Mary
I know I haven't written in a long time, but things have been crazy. One night while I was asleep, Mom and Dad picked me up out of bed in the middle of the night and they turned our house into a swimming pool! It was awesome!!! While the water was filling, we went upstairs to meet our neighbors and stayed there for a while. It was pretty fun. All the lights were out and people were going in and out, and there was a dog partying, barking non-stop. It was a blast! My sister Mary missed it all; she slept through the entire thing. Boy does she have a lot to learn.
Anyway, we stayed with Uncle Michael, Aunt Buffy and Tyler for awhile which was pretty fun, too. I had my own room and LOTS of new things to touch. Plus, me and Tyler really got to know each other. I can't wait until he's older and we can chase each other around! While we were there, Mom and Dad decided that living in a swimming pool wasn't the best idea, so we moved to another apartment. We were only there for a short time before we moved AGAIN! But I'm happy with it because I have tons more room to run and play in our new home and I love the big window in my room. It's nice and low so I can look outside and watch people playing in a big open play area. It's awesome.
Let's see, I've been so busy since then. My sister Mary is pretty cool. She doesn't bother me at all and she gets ALL of my jokes, which is nice. I love it when she sits on my lap, too. Other than that, I can count to ten and have all of these new teeth. I don't think I can fit anymore! My favorite foods haven't changed. Carrots are still #1, but I do prefer the kind in the blue can. Sometimes Mom and Dad get confused and get them from a different colored can. I don't care for those much so I just say "all done". I love going out to run errands because I get to talk to so many new people. I first play shy (to reel them in) and then I might start telling them one of my famous jokes.
Have any of you toddlers out there watched a show called "Hi 5"? It is the best! It ranks equally with Blues Clues. Nobody could ever replace that Steve. He's the best.
Good news! I get to see my girlfriend Ella tonight. Don't tell anyone, but I'm a little nervous. I haven't seen her since Derby Day!
Thanks for visiting my website! Oh, that reminds me. Mom said I have to share my website with Mary so I guess she might start writing stories too. I hope I don't lose any of my audience when she starts talking on here. If you don't love her stories as much as mine, stick with it. She's young and learning, but she'll catch on before you know it and you'll love her like I do.
Lots of Love,
Ethan
Well, have you heard? I have a sister now and although I don't know exactly what that means, I do know that it involves sharing Mom & Dad's attention with this little baby named Mary. She's been alright though. She sleeps all the time so it doesn't interrupt too much of my play dates with Mom & Dad. Lucky for her! We're getting along just fine so far. I never hear her crying or anything so as long as she keeps that up, we'll keep getting along just fine.
The best part of having her around is staying home and playing with my own toys all day long! Plus, Mom knows all of my favorite foods so my snacks are lunches are always full of the good stuff I really like. I do miss school though. We went to school the other day to say hi to all of my friends and teachers which was lots of fun! It was nice to see everyone again.
Mom and Dad are FINALLY starting to understand everything I tell them so that makes life so much easier for me. I love to talk talk talk and I'm very good at being persistent when there's something I really want! Like if Dad's eating a cookie, I'll say "bite, bite, bite, bite" and repeating it over and over again really seems to do the trick! I've also learned to let them know after my diaper needs to be changed, thank goodness!
My favorite toys are golf clubs, balls of any kind and my
Kawasaki. I absolutely LOVE to sing songs and even sing them after I wake up from a nap to let them know I'm ready to play. Nap and bedtime are still my favorite times of the day and I also love taking baths and brushing my teeth! I have a real love affair going with Blue's Clue's these days and reading a book with someone is a huge favorite of mine!
I can?t believe how busy I am!
I thought I was busy when I turned 14 months old and I started walking, but turning 17 months old has proven to be quite time consuming for me!
Overall, everything is very good.
I?m almost always in a good mood, especially when we go out and I get to sit in a shopping cart.
I like to pretend I?m the store greeter so I say ?hi? to anyone and everyone.
I?d love to write more in this story but I?ve got an Air Popper toy that?s callin? my name.
Thanks for stopping by!
Let me know if you want to meet my little sister and I?ll ask my Mom and Dad if you can come over.
Lots of Love,
Ethan
Wanna play catch? I can't seem to find enough people to play with! I can throw a ball over and over again, and when I run out of balls to throw, anything goes. Mom and Dad are pretty good about catching things for me but as soon as I get my toys nice and spread out all over the room like I want, the hurry up and pick everything up. It's pretty annoying but at least then I can just start spreading things around again.
I have a couple of other toys I like to play with, too. I like things that make me think like my shape sort, my gadgets and gears thingy ma'jigger, and my big plastic legos. Lego's are the most fun when you can knock them down but occasionally I like to put them together. Oh, there's one toy that's pretty cool because it talks about whatever letter I put in it. I'm starting to figure out that B say's, "bah!", and M say's "mah!". It's pretty fun! Mom and Dad like it too because they're ALWAYS singing along. Sometimes it gets hard to hear the song, but I don't want to hurt their feelings by asking them to KEEP IT DOWN!
I only have one real complaint about my mom and dad and it's that they sometimes forget what I'm eating and give me something different. Like, I'll be eating corn on the cob, which is really good and I've finally figured out how to get the corn off and as soon as I'm on a roll, they try to make me eat something like a potato. What is that all about? I was eating corn so why can't I just have more corn? It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. I explain it to them and scream and swing my arms around but they just don't get it. I have lots of work to do on them just yet.
Does anyone know who this Mary Addison chick is? I keep hearing about her but she never comes over to play. I guess I'll keep waiting but I'm getting a little tired of hearing about her. If she's so great, why haven't I met her yet?
Anyway, I hope you like my pictures. Everyone says I look just like Daddy but he's like a million times taller than me so I don't get it. Oh well, Dad's pretty fun so maybe they just mean I'm fun like him I guess.
Lots of Love,
Ethan
Okay, so, to any other toddlers out there reading this...parents don't tell you when they move. They just pack up your stuff and send you to the babysitter for a day, then bring you to a completely new place without ever asking you your opinion. It's insane. If this happens to you, be like me and just start throwing a bunch of tantrums and try to be as crabby as you can as much as possible. I know, sometimes you'll forget and they'll see you smile, but if that happens, just quickly lie on your back and start throwing your arms around in the air. Also, it really helps if you cry anytime your mom or dad leaves the room. This is everything I did and it really helped me get through. I'm fine with the new place now since I can walk pretty much anywhere I want to, but it was important I let them know how I felt. Email me if you have any questions about it...and good luck if this ever happens to you.
Other than that, parents are great! They give me good food to eat, especially cereal with cold milk. Man, that's the best stuff ever. I've been eating oatmeal forever (no really, forever!) and that stuff was good for a while, but I'm a big boy now. I really love any kind of pasta, and anything at all that's messy. My favorite healthy foods are carrots and bananas. I eat them all the time and I love them both! I can't think of anything else that I don't like, except any foods that feel slimy in my mouth. Yuck. I'll pull pudding right back out if they sneak any of that in my mouth, or jell. Jello's really gross, too.
Mom and Dad are FINALLY starting to listen to me when I talk. Now they keep giving me food I like because I know how to tell them "more" with my hands. If they give me more of the wrong food, I just do that hand thing again. Works like a charm! I'm so glad I taught them that. I talk all the time and I love to tell them stories, but sometimes they see "really?" when I haven't finished my thought yet. I think they're just easily distracted.
Thanks for coming to my website! I still keep hearing about this sister character, whose name is Mary? I don't know, but I don't think I like it.
Hope you come back soon!
Lots of big hugs and big slobbery baby kisses,
Ethan
I have never been so busy before. I have a ton of new toys from my birthday party (I'll get to that later) and it's really hard for me to choose what to play with. One of my very favorite new toys is a John Deere tractor that actually plays Old McDonald. Does everyone know that song? I love it; I've just never heard it on the radio so I figured Mom and Dad just made it up! But nothing gets me moving like listening to that song. What a tempo!
I had my birthday party and that was just weird, but fun! I tried pizza for the first time and I actually had my very own cake. That was the best part! I don't know what kind of bread the frosting sits on but it's pretty plain. The frosting however is the bomb! It was just tricky figuring out how to get the good stuff off without accidentally biting off the bread.
My favorite foods are carrots and bananas, and those are also the only whole veggies and fruits I'll eat. Everything else is gross! Pears and peaches just feel disgusting in my mouth, and actually, so do peas and green beans. Yuck! I like broccoli okay and I'll also have a little cantaloupe. Everything else is just bad so I just spit it right back out.
Giving and blowing kisses is one of my favorite things to do. I LOVE to give Mom and Dad hugs while we're playing on the floor. They seem to stay there longer the more I hug them. They're so easy...one kiss, two hugs, and they're mine for hours.
I'm figuring out how to work my toys, like I can put rings back on the yellow tower and I'm really good at putting my blocks and Lego?s back in their containers. That's lots of fun! I can say a whole lot and I know a little sign language, but I still grunt sometimes to get Mom & Dads attention. They do say the funniest things to me sometimes, like when I touch the VCR. They get all serious and say, "No"! It's so hilarious. It makes me smile every time. Now that's definitely one of my favorite games!
School is really good. I have a ton of friends now and I love my teacher, Miss Kristine. She is so nice! I can't leave daycare without blowing her a kiss. She's so nice to me and she's always playing on the floor with all of us. I do the same hug trick with her...works like a charm every time!
Does anyone know what a baby sister is? Apparently I'm getting one of those but I'm still not quite sure what that means. I hope it's another tractor!
Okay, I have lots to do. I have to practice walking and I hope Dad makes me laugh again tonight with that "no" game! I better let him know I'm ready to play!
Lots of love,
Ethan
Well, if you haven't heard yet, I like to talk. I don't know why Mom and Dad won't listen to me though. I say exactly what I want and they respond like they can't understand a word I'm saying. It can be quite frustrating! That's when I usually will let out a little (or big) yell to get their attention. I'm a busy kid and I need to finish one thing so I can move on the next toy or game in my life!
I've been eating the weirdest stuff. We never should have stopped with the soft creamy stuff. These bites of big chunky food are just too weird. Sometimes it tastes pretty good but I'd still rather have it like a big shake. I did have some pudding the other day and it was the best stuff ever. I could eat it every day. Mom and Dad, if you read this...buy more bananas! Those things are the bomb!
Did anyone tell you I started a new school? No? Well don't feel bad because nobody asked me what I thought about it either! Turns out, I'm in a room with 4 older women. I'm not complaining. They're tons of fun and one of them taught me how to play chase! But she goes on her feet, which is so silly. I still know it's much easier and faster to crawl...I think. My class is very fun though. I'm treated like a big kid, the way I should be treated! We eat big kid food and play games together. I love it. I just wish it wouldn't take Dad so long to take my coat off when we get there. I just want to hurry up and get to work!
If you're wondering about pictures, well, I just want to take them myself. Everytime Mom takes out the camera, I hurry over there for a turn but she still hasn't let me try it yet. Whatever. It's just a camera! I really just want to play with the string anyway, but as soon as I head her way she just puts it away. Oh well.
If you haven't thought about it, my birthday is coming up. If you want to send me a gift, email my Mom for our mailing address. ;)
Lots of love,
Ethan
