The Dawn of Reason
William and I were playing in the Fridge box which was currently serving as a Choo Choo. "Can you come in the Choo Choo, Daddy?" says William. "Buddy, I don't think I fit in there." says Daddy. "Mommy fits in the Choo Choo." reasons William. Well what do you say to that? John and I were both very amused as this is the first time he has reasoned something outloud to us in quite that way.
Brotherly Love
Ben has really been enjoying playing with William more and more. The favorite right now is Peek-a-boo. William does a great job timing the boos and Ben never fails to laugh or smile. Of course, more interaction isn't always a good thing. Twice now William has woken Ben up from a nap before he was fully rested. I was able to put Ben back to sleep each time, but not before he filed a complaint.
Coffee Shop Junkie
"Can I have some Tea Latte Mommy?" asks William.
"Oh, sorry William we don't have any." says Mommy.
"Some other day then." decides William.
Now, let me clarify that although I have shared some of my tea latte with him before I get a tea latte made with Rooibos tea which is an herbal caffeine free tea. Just so you don't think I've jumped off the deep end by giving William caffeine in that capacity. I usually fix him his own cup with 3/4 milk and a dash of tea latte. Yum!
The Story You've All Been Waiting For
This happened some time last month, but I held off writing about it. I needed to know how long of a phase this was. It did not last long and I'm much less self conscious about it now, so here goes...William and Daddy were walking in one night from the car after a lovely meal with friends. The moon was big and full. John stopped to enjoy the crisp winter air and beautiful moon with William. As they continued up the path and up the porchsteps they lost sight of the sky. Next thing John hears is "God damn it, where's the moon?" from a rather grumbly William. John was very taken back and just kind of looked at him. John assured him it was still in the sky and that we would see it another night.
After he shared with me this incident I had to admit that earlier that day William had come into the living room after nap in a rather yucky mood. He stomped his foot and said "Damn it, where are my needle pins?". His needle pins are his knitting needles and I had put them away when we finished earlier. He didn't even wait for an answer he just stomped off to find something to play with, but it left me somewhere in between crying and laughing. As I said it was a shortlived experiment with the power of words. He has put aside his pottymouth days...for now.

Can we go to Grandma's house now?
After a nice long visit from Grandma Maureen that's the question on William's mind! Just can't get enough lovin'. Grandma came up last Wednesday and we had a great visit. We went to knitting group, the library story time, and hung out playing alot. Both boys got sick as the week progressed, but we still managed to get out Saturday to Craft Akron for a craft supply swap and a stop at Zero Landfill to pick up fabric samples that we will turn into something wonderful! William picked out a few things when we went last weekend and his favorite is a carpet sample book that he turned into his computer. He decided that it looks like a laptop and now anytime he wants to talk to Uncle Jimmy he sits down to his computer.
Ella and Brenda came to visit our house. We've started planning weekly playdates with them and Matthew and Meghan, too. It's nice to have so many fun friends. We got talking about preschools and with William's birthday being Aug 4 it is just 3 days later than the cutoff. If he starts preschool this fall he'd go for THREE years before starting kindergarten in the fall of 2013. With that in mind we're holding off. We've found a great place right across the road. NorthMinster Preschool is the kind of place that people tell you is great even before they find out that you live literally right across the road. We'll stop in for a visit sometime and then again next year.
