Yeah! Sleep is something so precious that we often take for granted! With 4 kids and 1 in the oven, I completely understand your lack of sleep and desire for 1 good night's sleep! Stay strong and he'll be sleeping through every night soon :)Once he figures out that self soothing isn't so bad, you'll both be getting some much needed REM sleep :) We'll be praying the coming nights only get easier for you all.
-Faith Oates     Jun 05 2008

aaahhhhhhhhh thanks Tana nana! That blessed me tonight.
-Christy H.     Jun 05 2008

Yay for sleep!!! I'm praying it continues! I'm so glad that Christian is doing better with getting himself back to sleep. Thanks for coming out tonight, it was so great to see you guys! The boys were just too cute when they were jumping together.

Love you!
-Jess     Jun 04 2008

Wow! I loved the updates! Christian is growing up sooooooo quickly! I'm so glad that you and Jake got to spend some time together. I will call you in the next couple of days.....I'll make a trip down there this month! Oh and tell Christy H that I am sooooo glad that she continues to be such a wonderful, Godly women. As Christians we often forget that we are called to support and mentor the younger than us Christian wifes, mothers. Edification so often is forgotten. Christy BLESSES MY HEART by constantly reinforcing and encouraging you! I notice.
I love you my children!
-'tana nana     Jun 02 2008

oh yay I want to live on vacation all of the time as well, let me know when you figure that one out my friend. ;) Oh and can you thank Danny for me for being the kind of pastor who takes breaks with his wife and kids because truly that blesses me. God intended you to be human and not some super man. He will bless and grow not only your minsitry but your marriage because you have balance. Keep it up Danny!
-Christy H.     Jun 01 2008

Crazy weather indeed.... what contrast to our 100 degree heat a mere few days ago! Yesterdays weather was a trip!
-Jess     May 23 2008

Whew, I'm tired just reading about your crazy weekend. Rest, rest rest.... that is what the Flores family needs!!!!
-Jess     May 19 2008

Whoa. Reading your past weekend and plans to come made me tired as well! I hope you guys get some rest especially with this heat!
-Kelly     May 19 2008

Oh my goodness, it is crazy how much Christian looks like baby Danny! wOW!
-Jess     May 16 2008

I am glad your friend is ok as I was praying for her. Praise God. The story of these families loosing their children is breaking my heart.
-Christy H.     May 16 2008

Dearest Jolene: Thank you for making my mother's day soooooooooooo special! I absolutely was blessed by the card you and Christian made and the picture you sent. Thank you and Danny for your card as well! My family you are sooooo loved! Thank goodness Danny is alright after his "adventure". He is really an awesome and professional shephard! We love you Danny.

I am glad that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I started taking anti-depressants awhile back and they are really really really beneficial. You are going to be feeling alot better soon, I know it :)
-Sarah Meyer     May 03 2008

OH MY GOODNESS THAT WAS CLASSIC!

I laughed so hard. Thanks for that video of Christian!!

"Why can't you get anything out of the cup??!??!"

Ahhh. Good times.
-Kelly     May 01 2008

I would love to tell you being married to a fireman gives me more control but 99% of the time I just hang on for the ride. Then when I got really sick a few years ago I decided that control was over rated. ;) Now I am thankful God even cares what my wants and desires are and when I dont exactly what I "think" I need I am just learning to be blessed with what I have instead and then I realize in the end God knew better what I needed anyway. Love you!
-Christy H.     Apr 21 2008

Ahhh the screams. Not music to my ears but something that is oh so popular around here as well.

Yay for getting your backyard into shape! Hopefully you will be able to have a beautiful garden soon!
-Kelly     Apr 11 2008

yay on starting on the backyard! That is some hard work. I hope you guys can keep working hard and get it looking beautiful :)
-Jess     Apr 09 2008

Har Har Har.... When I first looked at your blog I was like "what????" If I'm not aware that I'm expecting a second child, then there's no way that you can be! Then I realized what day it is :) We are NOT expecting our second child yet! That would be a little crazy.
-Jess Hekman     Apr 01 2008

Hey sweetie....loved looking at your wedding album! It is awesome....you amaze me! You rock!
-Love and miss you, 'tana nana     Mar 25 2008

Thanks for the Easter greetings! He is risen!

This is the first time I've been able to visit your site, and I have to say I am really impressed! Thank you for sharing your stories as a working mom - a role I am honestly worried about for my future mommy life. Your stories have encouraged me, to know that someone else is struggling with such things and yet can confidently proclaim God's goodness. Thanks for sharing these with us all.

Miss you friend! I thank God things are going well and you had your momma there to help you adjust a little. Love you!
-Janette     Mar 24 2008

The video of him laughing is very cute. The video with moo cow is funny... don't you just love the quiver lip? Ethan also does that very well.
-Jess Hekman     Mar 20 2008

The moo cow video is SOOO sad/funny. I went from "awww" to "hahaha". I think the funny part is the fact I would do the same thing (grab my video camera to record it).

Christian is growing into quite the little man. I better keep the girls away from that one!
-Kelly     Mar 19 2008

Thank you for sharing the videos with me :) It was just what I needed for a good smile this morning.
-Devon     Mar 19 2008

I love the videos. Christian sure is adorable. Your mom looks GREAT too. Please tell her hello from the Kanes. We sure do miss the Meyers.
-Rhonda     Mar 16 2008

Yay for Tana Nana! It's been so great to see your mom while she's been out :)
-Jess Hekman     Mar 10 2008

Hi Jolene, I cant imagine what its like to be in the shoes of a pastors wife nor would I be brave neough to try so heres my advice, listen to Rhonda cause she knows what she talking about. :) Love you
-Christy H.     Feb 28 2008

Jolene, you're NEVER going to be able to live up to EVERYONE'S expectations, nor should you try. I want you to remember the passages in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12 that talk about the members of the body. God created you to be ONE part of the body. He gave you gifts and a passion for the part He created you to be. Your responsibility is to be your best as the part God created you and called you to be. If you are a hand and everyone is asking you to be a foot, although you could somewhat seem like a foot if you try (some people can walk on their hands), you will never be great as a foot and you will cripple the body if you become the foot (and the hand.) And also, you won't be able to be the best hand you can be if you're trying to do the foot's job. AND the foot may not step up to the task if the hand is doing the foot's job.
I hope all of that makes sense. Don't feel bad about saying no when you need to. You are right that your main priorities right now are Danny and Christian.
I think that many people in our congregations don't even consider how unrealistic their expectations are. I am praying for you!
Love ya!
-Rhonda     Feb 23 2008

HI Jolene ... I know that I don\'t get to talk to you much at church but I just wanted to say \"Ditto\" on your last update! I remember feeling exactly like that when my hubby was a pastor. Know that you are not alone... You and Dan and the baby are in our prayers. You are in a very special place in your lives and my prayer for you all is to enjoy it all for HIS glory!
-Tanya Schroeder (from NCC)     Feb 20 2008

I think you're perfect no matter what you do... you're my sis :)
-Jess Hekman     Feb 18 2008

Yay for working at home! You guys are ALL going to continue to reap the benefits. Christian is adorable. We love you and continue to pray for you!
-Rhonda     Feb 07 2008

yay for you and for God answering our prayers! Love you! Christy
-Christy H.     Feb 07 2008

Hooray for the first day working at home! I hope everything goes smoothly!

I heard about Jason yesterday and couldn't believe he passed away and so suddenly. I hope they are all doing ok.
-Sarah Meyer     Jan 31 2008

Hey Jolene. I don't comment much, but I do read and I am praying for you. I can't believe Christian is already 5 months old. Yay for working at home. I did that when Mason was a baby. You will find new challenges, but they are worth it for the sake of your family and your sanity.
-Rhonda     Jan 31 2008

Just read your latest post. I would love to tell you that it gets easier but its doesnt, it just gets different. The good news however is that you will learn to submit more and fight less. :) I know as I go through different seasons in my marriage, parenting with friends etc. I see how God has grown me and I see more clearly the areas in which I struggle so I am able to call them out quicker and say,"here God, quick take this!" :) Love you!
-Christy H.     Jan 30 2008

Deep breaths in.............deep breaths out girl. You can do this. Hang in there. Gods timing is the VERY best. We love you.
-Christy H.     Jan 29 2008

No doubt this stinks. Keep your eye on the prize though and know that everyone that loves and cares about you is praying for you. Hang in there honey!

Oh and check out Cooper Ranch Weather Cam....-20' brrrrr!

love ya honey
-mom ('tana nana)     Jan 28 2008

Poo on the IT guy. Hopefully he'll come through and you'll be working at home on Thursday. I hope your commute home today isn't too bad. It's going to be all over soon sis, hang in there! You can do it! I love you!
-Jess     Jan 28 2008

Praise God! What exciting news to be able to work from home! Enjoy (if thats possible) the last couple of train rides. How great that you will be able to put those extra train ride hours to better use! I am so happy for you!
-Kelly     Jan 24 2008

Oh I am so glad that you will be able to work from home!! What great news!
-Sarah Meyer     Jan 23 2008

Hey there Flores Family... I've been dabbling in your blogs... sheesh that train is a challenge! I am glad you are all doing well and baby Christian is growing so fast already. But don't they always?? Time flies when you're having so much fun! Love you! ((hugs))
