Garrett received his first hair cut this week. Yes, it lasted all of two seconds. Tawyna is very fast when she needs to be. The other half of the hair cut Garrett was in my arms.

Garrett also got his one year shots this week. He did very well and only cried for a second. Can I really even say he cried, his mouth was open and hands were in the air, but no noise came out of his mouth, thats the worst cry of all.

Garrett is pulling himself up on everything. He is also working on the seventh tooth on the bottom. Teething is murder for parents as well as babies. We are counting them down until they are all in, we can't wait.

He also has the wave down pat. When you leave, he will say goodbye. Until the next time. Next Sunday Cake and ice cream at 3:00 our house, all are welcome.

Happy 4th of July. Today we are so thankful Matt is home safe and sound and think about everything we have all been through. It has been just a crazy couple of years, but everything happens for a reason, and today is a day to be thankful for and all the special gifts we have received. Say a special prayer for all the other soldiers still separated from their families this holiday weekend.

Garrett is crawling all over and loves his new freedom! We now see another tooth coming in on the bottom. Garrett now says MaMa and DaDa a lot, but still not directed to me or Matt. He is still sleeping through the night and keeps us on out toes during the day.

Life is good...

6/1/05-Garrett is now 10 months old. Where did the time go? Everyday he continues to change so much I miss the day before. Garrett loves take a bath and when he cries in pain due to the teething we take a bath and all is OK. Garrett is now scooting backwards, and reaches for his toys in front of him and will often fall on his face. We are really close and I suspect he will crawl very soon. I am scared! Mom and Dad are not ready for crawling!

Garrett loves to get his teeth brushed and still has four teeth on top and two on the bottom. We are very close to cutting two more on top.

Garrett is also sleeping through the night on a regular basis. This helps Mom and Dad feel kinda rested.

Garrett is now getting his top two teeth in. In a few weeks he will look very different. He is sleeping in his crib on a regular basis and getting to sleep with a little back rub from Mom. We even have to wake him up in the moring. If he wakes up on his own he will talk to his furry friends, but he does not cry. Life is getting much easier now that he is sleeping through the night. Mom feels completly awake all day and work is getting much easier now.

Well, as you know this is Nala. She will always be our first child. Yesterday after 1-2 months of problems we found out she has bladder cancer. She is 8 1/2 and missed every hour. This is a very difficult time for all who knew Nala. She is very smart, loving and sassy. She has so much personality and will be greatly missed. It makes me feel better that she is no longer in pain and now has joined Silko who passed away a couple of years ago. This was the ONLY other dog she loved, liked and tolerated. I am sure Silko is already tired of her smelling his breath. She loved to smell he breath and sit next to him. Silko was her true love. We will always love, miss and talk about how smart she was. I can't say that Aspen will ever be described as smart, but he does seem a little down with out her here. We are trying to cheer him up which in turn kinda makes us feel a little better.

Tuesday night we decided it was time Garrett needed to sleep in his crib. Yes, he is almost 8 months old and still swinging all night long. The swing has been greatly appreciated!!! Now that he is going to out grow the swing we have to get him into the crib. Well, Garrett has an iron will. He screamed from 11:00 PM to 3:30 AM. Yes, we were there with him every step of the way and did pick him up a couple of time before we gave up at 3:30 and put him in his swing. Yes, he then slept until 8:00 AM. We were told it could take a week or so to get him sleeping in his crib. Last night went much better. I kept him awake until 10:15 and then put him in his crib while I was putting his clothes away. After 1/2 hour he fell asleep on his own. By 1:00 AM he was fully down and slept through the night IN HIS CRIB! I woke him up around 8:00 and he was happy and healthy. He only cried 3-4 times from 10:00 PM - 1:00 AM. We are on our way. Oh-he is 18 pounds and growing quickly!

I can't believe Garrett is 7 months. Where did the time go? It feels like yesterday Garrett joined our family, but then again when he  STILL does not sleeping through the night so we have felt everyday of the last 7 months. This boy loves to eat, and would rather get up for a 3:00 am snack and a few giggles before he will go back to sleep an hour later.

We have spent the last two months passing the flu, colds and sinus infections back and forth. I am tired of being sick or taking care of sick people. Thank you Grandma Sue for taking our sick child when day care wouldn't. It seems like Garrett has spent more time with you then day care recently. We are counting the days to Spring.

Garrett is rolling back and forth a lot these days. He is starting to get his knees under himself and the butt is in the air. I am sure crawling is not far off. Again, we are not at all ready for this next adventure. Now, if this means he will sleep through the night I say ok, but there are no promises with this child. We never can guess what he will do next.

Garrett now has a second tooth coming in. He also is getting over the flu. If it's not one thing it's another. He is the "Host"! He gets us all sick. Sorry Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Joan.

GUESS WHO HAS HIS FIRST TOOTH COMING THROUGH? Yes, Garrett has just started to get his first tooth on the bottom. I bet in a week or so we should all be able to see it. So, get a good look at this beautiful toothless grin, it will never be the same again. He is growing up too quickly.

Last week he also got an upper respiratory infection and so now Mom has it and I guess Dad will have it soon also.

He also went to his six month check up and he is 26 inches tall. He weighed in around 16 lbs and has already outgrown his car seat so is now in a convertable car seat. He is still not sleeping through the night, but much of his problem is the congestion. When he can breath he will sleep from 9:00 pm-7:00 am. So, in the last three weeks I think we have had only four nights of true rest. I am hoping as soon as he is feeling better we will all get more much needed sleep.

Garrett is almost 6 months old. I don't know where the time has gone. He is rolling from his tummy to his back once in a while, but only when there is a cool toy to reach for. There are some toys that he really loves. Kamy and Steve got him a hammer that lights up and makes noises and Deb and Scott got him a lighted noise toy that he also loves to death. Can you see a pattern here, lights and sounds are a great thing for him. He also love for us to toss him in the air, that really makes him giggle. Garrett has now tried applesauce, green beans, peas, carrots and yellow squash. He loves applesauce!!!! In addition to all that food he is eating 8oz in every bottle right now. I am sure he will be much bigger in the next few weeks, he has to be growing.

01/11/05-Garrett is changing and growing so quickly. Recently he has rolled over from his tummy to his back. He is a very happy baby and loves to blow bubbles. He giggles often and gets so excited when we tickel him under his chin. He really follows his bottle as if it was his last meal. He loves to eat so much we are still getting up at least once a night to feed him. It has been so wonderful to have Matt home. After Matt was down with the flu I realized just how much help he is when I had to do it all by myself again. It appears that Garrett is the GERM CARRIER. Everyone that has come near him has gotten the flu. Sorry to all of you who were effected or infected (ha ha).

12/19/2004 - Garrett, Daddy and I are all together again! We are getting adjusted to life as a family all together again. Each day is a blessing and we are enjoying each and every day we have together. Garrett is really sleeping well and only getting up 1-2 times a week. He us full of so many smiles and has started belly laughing. You can't help but to laugh with him. He is the greatest joy in our lives and we are loving each and every new thing he does for us. LIFE IS GOOD!

Merry Christmas to all, we are thinking about each and every one of our friends and family at this very special time in our lives.

Love,
Leslie, Matt and Baby Garrett

11/27/2004 - Finally Daddy is home for good. At least until they call him again. We are all getting adjusted to being together again and learning new things about each other. Daddy made it home just in time for Thanksgiving and Garrett's first Christmas. We are blessed and very thankful!

Thank you to all our friends and family who have helped all of us make it through this year to year and a half. It has been difficult in so many ways and I know we could not have made it with out each and every one of you, THANK YOU!!!

Yes, you could take down your yellow ribbons, but don't forget about all the other soldiers still over seas and alone on these holidays. There is still work to be done over there and families with out their loved ones this holiday season. Keep them in your prayers.

11/4/2004 - Today Garrett was topping the scales at 14lb. Yes, 14lb!!! He was able to talk to Daddy tonight as he was falling asleep. Daddy is sick and did not sound like himself, but Garrett still knew who he was. Can't wait to have Daddy put him to bed. We are counting every second until we are all together again.

His personality is really showing, he loves to eat and talk to his animals. He is very happy when he wakes up from sleeping and full of smiles. I just love his smiles! All is getting easier everyday that gos by. Motherhood is the greatest!!!

10/21/2004 - Yes, Garrett ate a big bowl of cereal and 6oz of milk and zonked out in Grandma's arms. He stayed asleep until 7:00 AM AND he slept in his port a crib. We are making progress. Now we just need to get the dogs to also sleep through the night. Mom was still up around 1:00 AM to let Nala go potty. If it's not one child it's the other. I can handle this kind of stress. It is getting much easier to function on less sleep.

10/12/2004 - Last night Garrett slept in his crib for the first time. He slept the first 1/2 of the night in his bouncy seat and woke up at 2:00 am to eat. At 2:30 Mom put him in his crib and let him fall asleep on his own. Next thing we knew it was 6:00 am and Garrett was just waking up. Mom got good sleep, but most of all it was in a bed (not a chair or the couch)! We are making progress. Now we need to work on sleeping more then 4 hours at a shot. He had some rice cereal last night, but must not have had enough. This boy sure can eat!!!!

Kylee-again thanks so much for the help. He is learning to sooth himself to sleep. Mom is often asleep before he is these days, what a concept!

10/10/2004 - Well-Garrett's new thing is to not nap. He prefers to close his eyes for 10-15 min. cat naps-max. Thanks to Aunt Teresa and her army, they kept him awake all evening. When we picked him up Garrett slept from 9:00 PM (when we put him in the car)-7:30 AM. He slept in his car seat and I in a bed at Grandma's house, but he did sleep. Maybe we just have to keep him awake all day and he will sleep at night. Thank you Teresa and Grandma for keeping me sane and letting me get 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time since I was 6 months pregnant. I did not know how much sleep I needed until I was crying. I guess that is a sure sing of sleep deprivation.

Kylee-can't tell you how nice it is to have your help and advice. Sometimes when you are at the end of your rope it is SOOO nice to hear how you did it only a couple of months ago. Aubrey is so cute and we can all see you are doing it right! She is very happy, adorable and we all just want to kiss her cheeks off.

Thank you all for getting me through one more day, a day closer to Daddy getting home. I never knew I was going to need this much help-I truly appreciate it!

10/6/2004 - Last night while Mom was very sick Garrett decided to sleep for the first time for 9 hours!!! I guess he knew I couldn't take a another sleepless night. I even had to wake him up at 7:30 to get him ready for Aunt Debbie to pick him up. Mom is sick, but this to will be a regular state of being with children.

Garrett also got his first toe nail trim by Grandma Sue this last week.

He is a very happy baby and really enjoys being naked. If he is fussy, we just strip him down and turn on a fan for him to look at. See, he does take after his father, he likes to be cool.
