Kate is almost 21 months. Our baby will be two soon! We can't believe it. We had a great Christmas. Mom and Dad were able to come to Minnesota on Christmas Day. What a blessing it was to have both of our families together on Christmas day! Kate still enjoys going to CLC on Tuesdays. We're so glad that she like to go. She's loves playing with her friends. She still gives hugs and loves on all the other kids. She's just a sweetheart. She'll even try to give strangers kisses when we go out. Thanks to Auntie Holly, Kate LOVES Barney or as she says "Marney." She also loves to watch an Elmo movie called Elmo in Grouchland. She calls Elmo "Melmo". Kate likes to sing. She makes up her own songs but also likes us to sing her favorites. She dances and moves all around. My favorite new Kate story happened a couple days ago. I was in the kitchen and I looked over and Kate was on her knees with her head bowed and her hands clasped. It looked like she was praying. Every time we pray with Kate she just makes noise. After she "prayed" I asked her to pray again. She did the same thing. Obviously she has learned what to do when we pray. It was so precious. I don't know if she picked it up from praying at home with us or she learned it at CLC. It was just the most touching thing!

Kate is 18 months now. We are so busy with her! Once she's awake, she's on the go. She plays and "helps" Mama all day long. Kate is a master hider. If I can't find something chances are she's hidden it. Her new hiding place is outside the cat door. Her vocabulary is growing by the day. We can understand most of what she says. She also makes up words and so we have to try and figure out what she's saying. Kate has also embraced her French heritage. She sometimes says our names with a French accent. You'd have to hear it to understand. It's super cute. Kate is working on three new teeth, one on the top and two molars...slowly but surely. She had her first sleepover with Mimi and Papa a few weeks. She didn't make it through the night, but she still had fun. We're going to try to make it a monthly sleepover. Last week, we took Kate to sit in Santa's lap. As you can tell from the picture, she was terrified. Kelly said that it would have been easier to put a cat in bath water than to give Kate over to Santa. Maybe next year she'll have a better understanding of who Santa is. Kate is still enjoying her one day a week of preschool. Her teachers say that she loves to go around and give the other kids hugs. She's a sweetie! Stay tuned for pics and stories about Christmas!

Kate is 16 months and just growing so quickly. Her hair is finally getting longer. She has a little tail in the back. Hopefully she's not growing a mullet. She is always on the go. Right now her favorite activities are dancing while listening to music, swinging outside, and coloring on the floor. Kate loves to give kisses and blow kisses. She makes her dolls and animals kiss too. She's beginning to mimic as well. When I'm putting on my make up she likes to sit in my lap and dig in my drawer. She'll pull out lipstick or chapstick and put it on her lips. She is still such a Daddy's girl. When he is at home, she wants to play with him. She started to only want Daddy to put her to sleep. Her vocabulary is expanding tremendously. She likes to point to her facial features and tell you what they are. She's also learned to say no. We get told "no" when she doesn't want to do something. Her favorite word is still ball. Anything round is a ball. We bought her a pack of 100 small plastic balls for outside. So all we hear is "ba." Kate started preschool at the end of August. She goes one day a week from 9-2. She really seems to like it. She loves playing with other kids. We're excited about fall and we're looking forward to taking Kate to the pumpkin patch and picking out her Halloween costume. Stay tuned for fall pics and stories...
August 11, 2009 Kate is so active. She loves to run, climb, and get into everything. She's very curious. She's also starting to test her boundaries. She understands the word no, but doesn't always want to listen. She's started to hit when she doesn't get her way. Getting in trouble doesn't seem to phase her yet. She might be a little bit like her Mommy. She has also decided to become a picky eater. She likes fruit, hotdogs, and cheese. Vegetables...not so much. She's working on her second tooth. I'm just glad they're finally showing up. I was gettting worried. Kate loves her Daddy. When he's home, she wants him to hold her. She always wants him to take her outside and play. She doesn't seem to care if the temperature is over 100 degrees. We stay busy with our little girl. She's growing up so fast. We enjoy her so much! June 24, 2009 Kate can walk! She started taking steps a couple weeks ago. She's getting better day by day. She looks like she's walking with a load in her pants. It's pretty cute. She's grown a lot in the past month. I think it's all that cow's milk she's drinking. She has also decided that she's a big girl and can feed herself. She refuses most baby food now. She'd rather have pick up food. It's been trial and error. One day we think we've find something she likes and the next day she doesn't want it. It's hard to eat "grown up food" when you don't have any teeth. She has one that we can feel a sharp little corner. It's been there for a couple weeks but doesn't want to pop through. She loves saying words that begin with b like baby, ball, book, bed, and bird. She understands quite a few words but enjoys saying her b words. She's still pointing and waving at everything and everyone. She likes the attention she gets when we're out in public. If I had a nickel for every time someone said she looks like the Gerber baby, I'd be rich! She is just cute as a button with a personality to go right along! May 18, 2009 Kate turned one on Saturday! She had a fun birthday party. We were so excited that Gramma and Grampa came from Minnesota. Gramma made two cute butterfly cakes that went with the butterfly theme. She got lots of gifts and ate cake and ice cream too. She must have known it was her birthday because she refused to take a nap all day! She was very tired by the end of the day. The next day we went to the Fort Worth Zoo with Gramma and Grampa. What a fun weekend! Today we took Kate to the doctor for her one year check up. She's a healthy girl! The doctor said that she has some bottom teeth that should pop through in the next couple weeks. No sign of those top teeth yet. Mimi taught Kate how to pat a cake, so she does that on her own a lot. I'll catch her rolling her hands when she's playing. She loves to clap when she hears music. Her favorite song is the Sesame Street theme. She bounces up and down and smiles really big when she hears it. Kate loves interacting with other people when we go shopping. She waves and says "hi." She understands more of what we're saying and can say about 4 words now. She's so smart like her Mommy :-) April 25, 2009 We're on the count down to Kate's first birthday. She's learning so much every day. She loves to point at everything especially the lights. She has also learned to wave, but she waves at herself. She says a few words but we're not sure if she understands what she is saying. Her newest word is wow. Of course we are amazed at every little thing she learns and does. She loves to "type" on the computer and turn the lights on and off. The remote and mommy's cell phone are also fun toys. Still no teeth. Do they make baby dentures? March 29, 2009 We were so excited that Gramma and Grampa got to come visit a couple weeks ago. We had a great time. We went to the Dallas World Aquarium. Kate was more interested in looking at the people than the animals. They couldn't believe all the things Kate learned how to do since they saw her at Christmas. We're still awaiting teeth and more hair. Hopefully Kate will get her first tooth before she's one! That's in less than two months. She's still cruising all around either by crawling or pulling herself up and walking around the furniture. We are constantly finding things to remove from the living room. She gets into anything and everything! She gets little bumps and bruises daily. We're also working on her understanding the word "no". I'm sure we'll be using that word a lot from here on out. Kate is still such a joy! She smiles, giggles, and "talks" non-stop. We enjoy every moment we spend with her. March 3, 2009 Kate is on the move! Kelly put up gates to keep her confined in the living room. Otherwise, she crawls all over the place. She also loves to stand up. She uses anything and everything to stand. We have tried to baby proof the house as much as possible. Feburary 16, 2009 Kate was dedicated to the Lord yesterday at Prestonwood. This was a special time for our family to thank God for the blessing He has given us! February 5, 2009 Kate finally started crawling! On Tuesday, Kelly got home from work and stooped down to see Kate. She crawled right to him. She didn't crawl for me all day! I guess she was so excited to see Daddy that she figured it out. Her crawl is slow, but I'm sure she'll pick up the pace in no time. January 27, 2009 I can't believe Kate is 8 months old! She's still busy, busy, busy. No crawling but she can sure get around good. She's going to have some strong arm muscles! She figured out how to go from a crawling position to sitting. It's fun to watch her figure things out. Looks like we'll need to put her in dance when she's old enough. She has a singing bear and loves to get on all fours and do a little dance when the music plays. It's so cute! Kate is a great eater! She eats fruits, veggies, meat, cereal, and cherrios! If we could just get her to drink out of a sippy cup. We're working on it! She would rather play with the cup. No teeth yet either. Since she's finally getting hair, maybe those teeth will come in too! Every night, Kelly and I talk about our amazing gift that God gave us! We can't imagine life without our baby girl. January 2, 2009 December was a busy month! Kate got to experience her first Christmas. We had Christmas with my family on December 8th and then we headed to Minnesota for Christmas. She got to meet a lot of extended family in Minnesota. We sure wish that she could be around Daddy's side of the family more often. We'll go back in June. Hopefully, Gramma and Grandpa will come visit before then. Kate just makes us laugh and smile all the time. She likes to growl at us. If we growl at her, she growls back. She loves to play on the floor with her toys. She scoots all around. She gets up on all fours but hasn't mastered crawling. She still enjoys playing in her Exersaucer too. She's a very busy girl. If she's awake, she's playing. Kate is still so happy all the time. We're assuming it's our good parenting skills. Ha! We just adore her and can't get enough of her! December 3, 2008 Kate is eating solids now. She loves bananas. We like to sing "It's bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" (From the Gwen Stefani song 'Holla Back Girl'). We're working on the veggie thing. She's also sleeping in her crib through the night. Finally! She is truly a happy girl, full of smiles and giggles. She loves making noises and yelling. She says mama and dada, but she doesn't realize it yet. She's sitting on her own. I still have to get her to the position but she balances pretty well. When she's on her belly, she works so hard to move around. She has an inch worm thing going on when she's trying to reach a toy. It's pretty cute. November 23, 2008 Kate got to meet the rest of her Minnesota family a couple weeks ago. We took a road trip which proved to be very long! Kate did a great job in the car. We were worried. We had a great time. Kelly spent his days hunting while Kate played with her cousins. She finally learned to roll from her stomach to her back. She was very proud of herself and couldn't stop rolling back and forth. Thanks Bailey and Anna! Kate finally started sleeping in her crib last week. She has done so well. She's actually sleeping through the night now. Finally! No more night feedings!
October 26, 2008 Kate had an exciting weekend. Her Gramma came from Minnesota to surprise Kelly for his 30th birthday. We had such a great time! We went to the Arboretum again. The weather was beautiful all weekend. Kate loved spending time with Gramma. She made Kate giggle when she talked to her. It was so cute. She enjoyed when Gramma held her, sang to her, and played with her. She can't wait to see her again in about a week! September 27, 2008 Today we took Kate to the Dallas Arboretum. Elliott went with us. It was hot, but we enjoyed seeing all the beautiful trees, plants, flowers, and pumpkins. I propped Kate up against some pumpkins so Kelly could take her picture. Other people started taking her picure too. One guy took a picure with his camera phone. It was like she was a celebrity! September 14, 2008 Kate is growing so quickly. She'll be 4 months old this week. She is such a blessing to us. We enjoy every moment. Lately she has been making so much noise. She loves hearing herself talk. It's more of a squawk. She's beginning to giggle more too. We try to get it on video but she must be camera shy. Every time I turn on the video camera, she stops. Kate also loves to stand up. Of course she needs our help to do it. August 9, 2008 Today Kate met her Great Great Grandmother for the first time. It was Mama Ep's 106th birthday. She lives in McKinney in a nursing home.
