Stories

9/12/09  Whoops!  Mommy has forgotten to update the story page recently!  I'm back at school in Pre-K this year.  I'm at a different school because of Mommy's work schedule, but that's okay.  I'm such an easy-going boy that is very comfortable wherever I am.  For a long time I just kept calling my new friends at school, "friends" because I couldn't remember their names.  However, I do talk about Cameron and Joseph and Tyler.  Mommy was a little concerned about my behavior at school when I told her I got put in time out on the second day of school.  However, after talking to the teacher she found out I just had to leave circle time on the carpet and go sit down because I was talking and playing too much with my new friends.  Mommy and Daddy had a very FIRM talking to me about what's expected at school and there have been no problems since.  We get stickers every day if we are good and get to go to the treasure box on Friday as a reward.  I LOVE it!

We went to Mommy's Aunt Sue's house for Labor Day and had LOTS of fun on the boat and jetski.  It is obvious which of us is the daredevil (not me).  Erin always wants to go faster and be crazy and I like to be slower and not go "overboard".  We enjoyed helping Aunt Sue feed the neighbor's dog, feed fish, and see Uncle Ray's cool collection of old cars (and Ryan Newman's race car - so cool!!)

From Erin:  Mommy and Daddy are continually amazed at my stubborn streak.  I'm going through a phase of only wanting Mommy to take me to bed and going into hysterics when that doesn't happen.  Tonight was the first night Daddy was able to put me to bed without having to have Mommy follow up.  (although I did keep requesting "I want to take Mommy to bed!!")  We went to open gym at my gymnastic's place (during the summer) and I had TONS of fun jumping all over the place.  The teachers were amazed at how long I can jump for.  That's just my wild streak!!  I'm still not really going potty on the toilet yet - I go through moments of wanting to go and other times refusing to get my diaper changed.  It just depends on my mood!  I love to challenge Mommy and Daddy - unlike Jack, I don't stop doing something just because they say no.  There has to be a consequence (time out, them taking me off the couch, etc.)  I just love to see how far I can get!!

7/15/09  Boy is summertime busy!  At the end of June we flew on an airplane (Erin's first flight) to visit Grandma and Grandpa Krantz in Indiana.  They had SO much fun stuff planned for us!  We got to visit a dairy farm and see where milk comes from (and a biology lesson about boy and girl cows/bulls!), went to St. Joe, MI to the children's museum.  We had an awesome picnic by Lake Michigan.  We also got to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.  It was so neat!  Of couse we did parks and playdates and all kinds of fun stuff.  We were very sad to go, but had plans to visit more relatives in NC for the 4th of July - right after we got home.

Summer is just a very busy time - there's blueberry picking, swimming at the pool, playing at playgrounds, and going to gymnastics.  Not to mention growing up!  Erin has quite a vocabulary and is kind of working on potty training.  She's done it once or twice, but Mommy hasn't been working very hard on it.  Today Erin had a first - she loves shoes (oh no!) and likes to put on Jack's shoes, Daddy's shoes, as well as put them on everyone else's feet.  Well, as we were watching a movie, she walks in and says something about shoes, and she has put both her tennis shoes (velcro) on her feet!!!  The correct ones even!  We know it's a fluke, but it was still pretty cool.

6/12/09  Our little girl is 2!!!  At her 2 year old appt. she was 25 pounds and 34 inches tall - perfectly average (although everyone always comments on how tiny she is).  We had a wonderful birthday yesterday with cake and presents.  Erin even blew the candle out!  We were all impressed.  She got a reading chair from Grandma and Grandpa Krantz, a mini trampoline from Auntie Sara (which is by FAR the favorite - totally solved the constipation problem :o), a princess Barbie, hair things and clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Kappel, umbrella and golf set from the triplets across the street.  It was a great time with everyone!

Summer has been lots of fun so far.  Jack is finishing VBS at St. Michael's.  We've had lots of fun at the pool and going to the gym.  Jack is much braver at the pool thanks to swim lessons.  He is feeling much more confident and has no problem putting his face in the water.  Erin doesn't scream (or yell, "my step!" like Jack used to), but she's not comfortable yet.  Every Wed. is gymnastics.  Jack is much braver this year, but probably because Erin is such a wild child.  She loves to swing on the bars and jump on the trampoline.  Beam is not much fun right now because it requires her to slow down and be careful.

We go visit Grandma and Grandpa Krantz in less than two weeks - it will be Erin's first ride in an airplane and the first one Jack will probably remember.  We're looking forward to our trip - Grandma and Grandpa have lots of fun places they want to take the kids - I hope our camera doesn't wig out like it has been lately.

4/28/09  Busy busy!  Easter was fantastic!  Grandma and Grandpa Krantz came down to help us find all the eggs.  Erin keeps up with me as much as she can.  She's starting to say phrases like, "I don't like it!" (which is most of her food) and "Did you hear that?" when a plane flies overhead.  She LOVES to swing and be upside down.  We're going to do gymnastics this summer - she should love it.  She has started swimming lessons with me as well.  While he's in the big pool, Mommy goes in the little pool with her.  She loves to splash, but refuses to close her mouth when water is poured over her head.  She also won't put her face/mouth in to blow bubbles.  She's a stubborn little thing!  She's started wearing pigtails - which she calls "cute-cute?".  She refuses to say "Grandpa" - she insists on using Pee-paw,  even though we know she can say it - (she says "Grandma").  She gets this mischievious look on her face as she says, "PeePaw" too.  She's a stinker!  She's still in her crib right now and shows no signs of wanting to crawl out.  Our June project is to get her new room ready for her birthday.

I'm doing great!  Every day after school my teacher says what a good boy I was.  I love to play teeball and I'm getting better at staying on my feet and stopping the ball.  In the pool, I can definitely swim backstroke and I'm doing okay on the crawl - although we're still working on how to turn your head to breathe.  I don't think I'll drown right away in the pool, now if I fall in.  I'll be doing gymnastics this summer, too.  I LOVE to color and am getting comfortable swinging higher on the swing (I think seeing Erin fly to the moon has encouraged me).  All in all, everyone is healthy and growing strong!

3/09/09  Spring is almost here!  Jack has started teeball this year - although it looks more like rugby the way they run after the ball!  Erin was very disappointed that she can't get out there and play yet!  She's almost 2 going on 10!  She wants to do everything her big brother does.  She has all kinds of words (or at least parts of words)- Bubbles, Jack, woof-woof, doggie, kitty, etc...  Sometimes you have to see what she's looking at to know for sure what she's saying.  She LOVES to talk/babble on the phone and say "Hi!" to complete strangers.  She's very outgoing overall.  She's so much a typical girl - she knows EXACTLY what she wants and will not be dissuaded from her goals.  I have NO idea where she gets the stubborn streak from - probably her daddy!  She loves to jump and wrestle with Daddy and will only allow him to put bows in her hair.  Mommy is not allowed to touch it.  We're thinking of starting her in swim class after Easter - we'll see how it goes.

Jack is doing well in school - he got a pretty good progress report.  He still needs to work on following directions and waiting for his turn to speak, but he's working on it!  He LOVES to color and is really good at using all kinds of different colors and staying in the lines.  Right now his favorite excuse for not being able to do something is, "Maybe when I'm 4".  It's very entertaining to hear his reasoning for why he should or shouldn't have to do something.

Comments
Emma had the same comment, "when I'm 5". Well guess what . . . "5" didn't change a thing, in fact, when we remind her of that comment, she claims to still be "4". GOOD LUCK!
  - Love, Missy

1/26/09  Oh boy have we been slack!  December was a very busy month!  We did another trip to Disney to see Daddy's friends.  Auntie (Nanny) Sara went with us.  She's SO much fun!  We had lots of fun riding the rides with her and spending time together.  We've decided she's always going to come with us to Florida if her work schedule allows!

Everyone had a great Christmas!  Grandma and Grandpa Krantz came to visit and brought a cool 50's Diner to make all kinds of food for everyone.  Then, Grandma and Grandpa Kappel came and we got all kinds of games and toys that Mommy and Daddy say we really don't need.  Erin got her first baby dolls from Auntie Sara and Grandma Kappel.  She takes good care of them giving them bottles and rides in the stroller from Aunt Lori.

We went to Gatlinburg, TN for a week with all of Daddy's family and everyone had fun playing with cousins and exchanging more gifts!  We did have to make a trip to urgent care in Knoxville (can you believe that's the nearest urgent care???) for an ear infection for Jack.  We visitied Ripley's Aquarium, went to Ober Gatlinburg, and just had fun hanging out with the family.

Erin reports that she had her 18 month appt. on Dec. 17th.  She was 32 inches tall and weighed almost 22 pounds.  She's following just what her big brother did - over 50% for her height (although not as tall as he was) and less than 25% on the weight.  She is all over the place now!  She can climb up on the kitchen chairs (Jack reminds her not to stand on them) and would prefer to sit and eat on a big chair, not a booster seat.  She is quite adamant about getting her way and doesn't mind resorting to screaming if Jack tries to take a toy or we tell her no.  She LOVES her big brother - we've nicknamed her shadow - and he's pretty good about playing with her.  Our favorite game to play is wrestling when Daddy comes home from work.  We're going through a bit of a Mommy phase again - doesn't want much to do with Daddy, screams when Mommy leaves her at the sitter or daycare at the gym.  But it doesn't last long and she goes off to play with the kids.  We now have 8 teeth and 2 molars coming in - which may explain some of the recent grumpiness!

Jack is doing well in preschool.  He's learning/knows his alphabet and all that good stuff.  We're still working on holding the pencil correctly, writing the alphabet, and using scissors.  Just like Erin, he doesn't have much patience for it.  He's doing a little better in swimming - he's gotten past some of the frustration stuff, but is still behind the other kids.  I guess he's not going to be Michael Phelps, but that's okay.  He's signed up to try T-ball this spring, so that should be interesting to watch!  He's pretty good at hitting the ball, but catching still requires some work.

Anyway, we'll try and be better updating this more often - sorry it was so long!

11/28/08  We've been busy!  We had lots of fun on Halloween - Auntie Sara came up and Erin did awesome trick or treating - she walked all the houses in the cul-de-sac.  I made it off the street this year and was out past dark for the first time.  We walked around with the triplets next door and had a blast.  I've been doing really well at swim class.  I'm finally getting better at putting my face in the water and swimming.  Now if I could just keep my legs straighter when I kick I could probably get somewhere!  School is going really well.  I love all my friends and teachers there.  Mommy and Daddy are very proud of my coloring skills.  I know all my letters and numbers - now Mommy wants to start reading.  I have several stories I like to "read" at night, but I don't really recognize any words yet (except for my name and stuff).
The little sweetie wants everyone to know that she's really on the move now.  She tries to keep up with me in whatever I'm doing.  She's coloring and babbling up a storm.  She doesn't say a sweet little "Mommy", it's an all out yell - "MA!!"  She loves her Glowworm "Ba-by!", "Cheese", "Shoes" (and that includes socks), "Bye-bye" and "Ny, Ny (night-night)".  No Daddy yet, although she did say Grandpa.  She insists on talking on the phone whenever anyone calls (Grandpa and Auntie Sara call just to talk to us - forget Mommy!)  She finally has gotten some more teeth - working on our first molar now, so Mommy has relaxed a bit.
We enjoyed playing with family in Ohio on Thanksgiving - there's so many kids there (which is why Mommy always loved going)!  It was a VERY long ride, but Daddy is looking forward to a Goldstar Chili stop on the way home, which pacifies him.  We are very thankful for a safe trip and all our friends and family and can't wait to see Santa!

10/18/08  Today we went out to the farm to pick some pumpkins!  It was lots of fun and we managed to complete the trip with a minimum of meltdowns, crankfests, or general fussiness (though, Daddy can't say the same).

Erin really has the walking thing down now and has graduated to running and full contact wrestling with the dogs.  She definitely seems to have inherited a temper from one of the parents - I wonder who... I wonder who...  Anyway, we're both really excited that she can walk now for trick or treating.  That will double the haul over last year, and since she still only has six teeth I'm thinkin' there will be more candy coming my way!!

Next weekend we go camping up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so look forward to exciting stories and pictures of us and wild animals!

9/22/08  Erin did finally take some steps on Sept.9th!  However, it is not a very fast means of transportation, so she has resorted back to crawling.  She loves to chase me around with the cart or crawling, but walking is just too much work!  She still has only 5 teeth, but at her 15 month checkup the doctor said not to worry about it.  She weighed in at a whopping 20 pounds 6 ounces (it put her in the 13% - which is up from the 5% she used to be in) and was 31 inches long.  Looks like she's taking after me - long and thin!

I am still loving school and coloring pictures.  Grandma and Grandpa Krantz sent us some cool new clothes to wear for football season (Daddy is desperately trying to keep up with the OU stuff).  I love my little sister and the new doggie we got last weekend.  We adopted a Golden Retriever from a rescue group in Atlanta.  Her name is Annie and she is 16 months old, so you'll have to be on the lookout for pictures of her as well!  Hope everyone is doing well!!

9/1/08  Finally a new first!  After all my hard work with her (being a big brother IS hard work) Erin finally stood up on her own!  While Mommy and Daddy were cleaning the kitchen after dinner, she just stood there!  As you can see from the video clip, she was SO proud of herself.  She practically jumps up and down - we figure she'll be walking within the month (which makes Mommy a little sad).  She also says a couple words - bye and Daddy.  However, she knows lots more.  She is such a silly monkey - she watches me all the time and wants to play with whatever I'm playing with.  She has such an attitude - you can see it when she crawls - with her hips wagging and shoulders strutting.  We're all in big trouble.

I have a new first as well - my first day of school!  I started preschool 3 days a week this year at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock.  I LOVE it!!  In fact, I didn't want to go home the first couple days.  I love coloring, playing with the kids, and having snack.  I did get in a little bit of trouble in the second week for not sitting during carpool, but I'm learning the rules.  I'm also working on walking in the halls instead of running.  My teacher described me as "All boy", which made Mommy a bit concerned (she know what that's teacher language for), but I'm doing well.  My coloring has improved tremendously - I love coloring my Star Wars book.

Anyway, life is just trucking along here for us.  We'll let you know as soon as the trouble monkey takes her first steps!

8/3/08  Well, July kind of got away from us.  What a crazy month of travelling!  First, Erin had her first trip camping over the 4th of July and sleeping in the motorhome with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Sara and me!  I showed her the ropes.  I had lots of fun with the sparklers (Erin was already in bed).  Then, Mommy went with us to Grandma and Grandpa's home in Indiana.

After one day there we hit the road again to visit Mommy's relatives in Ohio.  She has so many cousins with kids for me to play with!  We had a great time in Aunt Peg's pool, even though I'm still nervous about the water.  It's really funny because Erin is completely comfortable and a crazy splasher.  She had lots of fun playing with 3 cousins that are about 2 months younger than her (even though they are all bigger than her, they were very nice).  We got to see Great Grandma and Grandpa Rhodes - I hadn't seen them since I was 9 months old.

Then, Mommy left us for a surprise trip to NYC with Daddy to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary.  Erin and I didn't even notice they were gone we were having so much fun with all of the family.  We got to go to Mommy's cousin's wedding and eat lots of cake.  My great-aunts were so great at sharing!  I just moved my way down the laps to help them all with cake - then Grandpa wondered why I was so wound up!!

After that,  Mommy came and got us and we were home for a day before heading down to Florida to see my other Grandma and Grandpa and Daddy's college friends.  Boy we had fun in the condo!  There were 6 of us kids - all 5 and under.  We looked like a small preschool class whereever we went!  We had lots of fun at the beach and the pool - I loved the water slide with Daddy!  We went to Disney one day and met my cousins and Aunt Kasee and Uncle Chris and Grandma and Grandpa.  Another day we went with all our friends to NASA to see the rockets!  I want to be an astronaut and go in space!  It was so cool!

Finally we made it home for a week before Mommy goes back to work (part time) and I start preschool in a couple weeks.  Erin is getting bigger, but not too quickly.  She's still less than 20 pounds and not quite walking.  She's mastered walking behind the grocery cart (when I don't take it from her) and can even crawl down the stairs now.  She's just way too quick crawling, so she's not too anxious to walk.  Mommy got her a cool new pair of shoes from Stride Rite, so maybe that will encourage her to get walking!  Now that we're home, I'll try to make sure Mommy is better about updating this!

6/17/08  See I told you I would be better about updating my site!!  Erin turned 1 last week - it's hard to remember not having a little sister.  I love sharing my food and am working on sharing my toys.  She's just as good a car traveler as me.  She hasn't gotten to experience the joys of airplane travel yet.  We have to use the gates at home again - she's learned how to go up the stairs and we can't get her to understand how to go down.  Mommy discovered she knew how to go up the stairs accidentally.  I was playing with her in my "office" while Mommy ran up to get a shower.  When she got out of the shower and checked on us, she discovered Erin upstairs with her.  Whoops!  That's why 3 year olds don't babysit :o)  Erin loves opening and closing doors, laying on Sophie (Mommy's cousin's dog, Caroline, didn't like it so much), and getting into my toys.  Her favorite thing to do is put stuff around the back of her neck.  She loves to wear Sophie's collar or anything else she can put around her neck (including lamp cords - so we have to keep an eye on her.  Mommy's thinking she might like some scarves?)  She had her 1 year old appt. today and she weighs 17 pounds 11 ounces (her 4 month cousin, Griffin, weighs 17 pounds 2 ounces!) and she is 29 inches long.  She continues to be a little girl, ranking in the 5th percentile for weight and 35th percentile for height.  She's always been that way, so the doctor told her not to worry about it - she's just going to be a  tiny-mite.  What she lacks in weight she sure makes up for in noise!  Everyone in the doctor's office knew that Erin was not happy about her shots, even though Mommy only let them give her 2 of the 5 (can you believe they wanted to give her 5 shots!!!) vaccine shots.  She got her MMR and varicella vaccines today and we'll go back next week to get the other 3.  I've been up to the same trouble as always, I go to the bathroom all by myself from start to finish and don't even want Mommy in the room with me anymore.  I just go in, do my thing, and head out after washing my hands.  With this newfound independence I'm also getting a bit too bossy for Mommy and Daddy's taste.  I want to be able to do everything myself and don't want their help.  I sometimes get frustrated when I can't do what I'm trying to do (squirt the water hose, put a card in an envelope, etc.)  We're all working on patience :o)  We're going to take Erin to the zoo this Saturday for her birthday.  Grandma Krantz commented on how different the second child's first birthday is.  I had Daddy's parents and Auntie Sara come with me to the aquarium on MY birthday.  Erin had to wait a couple days and it's just going to be Mommy and Daddy and me.  I'm sure we'll all be hearing about that in the coming years!!

6/9/08  We love summer!!  It's so much fun having Mommy around to take us lots of places.  We've been to see some airplanes (Erin didn't get to because she went to sleep and Daddy stayed home with her), to friends' pools, picnic dinners while listening to music, and just running around in general.  Mommy's been trying to get to the gym, but Erin keeps throwing fits in the child care center there and they pull her out of class to calm her down.  She has such a temper!!  Nothing like sweet angel me :o)  It's hard to believe she's going to be year old this week.  It's gone by so quickly!  She's cruising around now, waves (and says) "Bye, bye", and is still a pretty good sleeper.  We had a lot of fun seeing family this past weekend at Leah's wedding.  We got to see Mommy's godparents, Aunt Ida, Aunt Mary/Uncle Roger, and Grandma/Grandpa Krantz.  I enjoyed it so much that I was upset when we got home last night - I wanted to go back to the hotel and visit everyone some more!!  We can't wait to go up to Ohio in July to visit all of Mommy's relatives.

5/11/08  Okay, Mommy and Daddy are in big trouble about updating this site.  We've been posing for all kinds of pictures and doing stuff, but they just haven't gotten to it.  Grandma Krantz and Auntie Sara are constantly asking but...  Erin and I have been super busy getting big!  I am officially a big boy and can go to school 'cuz I pee and poop in the potty and can ride the school bus (which I tell everyone I see).  I am also very into saying stuff is not fair and "It's all my self" as I give myself a big hug.  Erin is very into her toys (and mine).  I have a newfound love for all my old toys and take them from her when she's playing with them.  Mommy is working with me on sharing.  Erin started pulling up on Sophie - that is her favorite thing in the world!  If she's upset about something, putting her by Sophie instantly makes her happy.  Just this past week she's started pulling up on everything (including me - which I just knock her down) and is even taking some steps to start cruising.  Mommy thought she would be such an early walker, but she's proving us wrong!  She's such a stinker and strong personality.  She wants what she wants, NOW!  She loves to pucker her lips and blow - with or without food in her mouth.  She loves to talk as well - she's VERY loud.  Mommy is almost done with school for the year and hopefully we'll do better with updating this more often with pictures and stories.  We have a very busy summer ahead of us with travels for weddings, Mommy and Daddy's 5 year anniversary, trips to Ohio, all kinds of good stuff!  Hope we get to see everyone in our travels, soon!!

3/29/08  Lots of stuff happening!  I turned 3!!!  Mommy and Daddy can hardly believe it.  I am a big boy in all ways except the potty.  When we talk about it I know I have to go before I go to school - but that's not until August...  I'm going to be sorely disappointed when I find out I don't get to take a school bus to it!  I had my 3 year old check up with Erin on her 9 month check up.  I am 3 feet 1 1/2 inches and weigh in at a whopping 32 pounds!  Mommy and Daddy call Erin a petitey sweety because she's only 15 pounds 5 ounces and 27 inches.  Neither one of us had to get any shots so it was a good appt. all around.

I had my first birthday party this year at a really cool place called The Playroom.  Talk about FUN!!  I had all my friends there and we ran around like crazy, jumped in the big foam pits, on the trampolines and climbed on everything.  The adults had as much fun as the kids!  Mommy had to show her stuff and prove she still had it by throwing a couple front and back somersaults on the trampoline.  We were all duly impressed.  After playing, we had cake, ice cream, and TONS of presents.  Mommy and Daddy have hidden some to come out at a later time because it was just too much.

Then, Grandma and Grandpa Krantz came down for Easter -what fun!  I helped Grandpa and Daddy take out the old countertops to get ready for the new ones.  I love the new countertops!  Actually, Daddy caught me playing with Luke Skywalker and a Storm Trooper on the new countertops and when the Storm Trooper told Luke he didn't like them it started a fight.  I always crack Mommy and Daddy up with my ever growing imagination.  I like to draw smiley faces of the whole family with two little circles at the bottom for feet.

Erin is all over the place with her crawling although she still doesn't pull herself up.  If you prop her up against something she can stand, but then she gets upset because she can't figure out how to get down!  I've tried to show her lots of times, but she's a slow learner.  I love playing with her and kissing her goodnight.  I try to protect her from getting bumped and stepped on at MeeMaws, but it doesn't always work.  She's going to be tough when she's older (just as Mommy wants it).  She's eating all kind of food now and I love to give her the stars and wheel treats.  She's getting much better at putting the food in her mouth instead of her lap.

Hopefully Mommy and Daddy will get the pictures from all these fun adventures posted soon, but it's been so busy!  Next weekend Mommy and Erin and I are going on a road trip to Ohio to visit all her family.  Daddy can't make it, so we've suckered Aunt Sue into riding up with us - does she really know what she's getting herself into???

2/24/08 Wow have we been out of it!  As you can see from the video, Erin is on the move!  So far I'm being a very good brother about it, but as soon as she gets tired of the remote I know she's going to be after my toys!  Nothing is safe now!  She still doesn't have any teeth yet.  Mommy and Daddy thought she was going to be so much quicker than me in reaching these milestones, but she isn't!  We've had a rough past couple of weeks with the flu.  First it hit Mommy - we all know what that's like when Mommy's sick - Daddy's in charge :o)  Then, once Mommy was somewhat recovered (but not completely - she ended up with a sinus infection and bronchitis), Erin got sick.  She had her first trip to the Emergency Room at 3 am. with a fever of 104.5.  Mommy and Daddy weren't especially worried - the advice nurse just said they should go.  So, Erin was diagnosed with the flu.  After a couple days with that, she developed an ear infection.  Daddy and I were the only toughies (although I had a fever sporadically a couple afternoons).  However, everyone has been on their antibiotics and are doing much better.  Now, back to work for a solid couple weeks.  I can't wait for my 3 year old birthday - I'm having a party this year!!  It's going to be so much fun playing with all my friends - I can't wait!  Check back for fun pictures from that in the middle of March!

1/21/08  I know it hasn't been that long since our last update, but we had a big weekend!  Erin was finally baptized!  Terry, our godfather, made a day trip down from moving to their new house in Greenville, SC, to be with us.  He even brought along an extra special surprise - Aunt Peg and Uncle John!  Were we thrilled to have them be there with us!  It's about time some of those Ohio relatives came down for a visit :o)  The day was very cold, but absolutely wonderful.  We felt very blessed to have so many friends and family be there with us.  Erin didn't cry once and was very smiley throughout the ceremony (I told her it was cool).  I didn't watch too much of it because I was busy organizing the books in the pews.  I also got my first chance to play in snow!  Atlanta has had some cold and snowy weather over the past week and I got the chance to go explore the white stuff.  It didn't stick around long enough for me to really play in it, but hopefully there will be more next year!!

1/14/08  What a great Christmas!!  Santa (and Grandma's and Grandpa's) were very generous.  Mommy and Daddy are talking about putting some toys away and only letting me have certain ones at a time.  It's probably not a bad idea since it's overwhelming what to play with!  Right now I love playing the Mickey computer game.  Yes, that's right, I'm an expert at sliding the computer mouse (not Mickey) over the letters or finding shapes that Minnie hides.  I get VERY upset at Mommy when she says that's enough and shuts it down.  I'm also still really into Cars (the movie and related toys).  We had a nice time in Florida before the freezing cold weather came through.  We were extremely shocked and saddened by the loss of Julie Herr, one of my very first babysitters on my first trip to Notre Dame.  Her grandsons, Jake and Jeremy, can borrow Grandma Krantz whenever they want to - I'll share!  We also did an impromptu visit to Disneyworld so Erin could get her first mouse ears!  Then, it was back home and back to work.  I started swim lessons with Mommy and it went great!  I'm definitely getting braver in the water.  Now, if they could just get me to put my face in it!!

Baby Erin is getting bigger all the time.  She had a rough spell right before Christmas with some ear infections and then a fever last week, but I told her it was okay.  I went through the same thing and am relatively normal.  She's enjoying starting to eat baby food - she's very messy though.  Whenever she cries I tell her to stop crying, but she doesn't listen to me.  She's almost crawling, but not quite, which is fine by me since I know she'll be after my toys.  Depending on my mood I get very protective of them and get upset if she drools on them.  She still doesn't have any teeth - although Mommy is regularly checking for them.  We're finally getting Erin baptized this weekend - I can't wait to see everyone! (Even though I know they're not here for me, really)

12/18/07  What a rough couple days before Christmas this has been.  Last Friday Erin had her 6 month well baby check up and was supposed to get some shots.  When the doctor went to check her they discovered she had a slight temperature and an ear infection - no shots for her!  However, she is 26 inches tall and weighed 14 pounds 7 oz.  A little less than I was at this age, but she's a little girl!  Then, Sophie had a trip to the vet as the result of eating kitty litter the previous weekend.  So, Sophie and Erin are on medicines two times a day.  Then, I was feeling a little left out with everyone getting attention from the doctor so I decided I needed a trip to the ER.  I woke up struggling to breath on Sunday night after being asleep for two hours.  Mommy and Daddy were really worried and I was scared.  They found out that I have croup and after a steroid shot and breathing treatment at the hospital I got to go home.  I bounced right back the next day, but now Mommy's got a cough and not feeling well.  It's fun to share as a family!  Daddy's been picking up all the slack.  Hopefully we'll be well by the time Grandma and Grandpa Krantz get here on Thursday.  I know Grandpa's ready to play and Grandma is going to help me bake cookies!  Merry Christmas everyone!!

12/8/07  Boy does time fly!  Thanksgiving was rough.  Mommy and Daddy were most thankful that we didn't go anywhere.  The night before turkey day I came down with a stomach bug, probably picked up from one of my friends at Memaws (I won't name any names Ella!).  So, Mommy was up all night with me.  Then, Daddy and Erin got it on Friday night followed by Mommy on Sunday.  Were we glad we weren't on the road or at anyone's house!  Mommy has never done so much laundry!  However, we all survived.  Erin is beginning to join us at dinner.  Mommy and Daddy are trying to teach her how to eat her cereal, but she's too busy watching me and laughing at my silliness!  Because she's too busy watching and not eating, she's getting up twice a night to eat - which is really starting to take it's toll on Mommy and Daddy during the work week.  Anyway, two more weeks of work before Santa (who I call Christmas) comes to visit and bring me toys!  Then we hit the road to visit the grandparents!  Merry Christmas everyone and hope Santa brings you all the trains and cars you want!
