SNOW DAY FUN!!!

Yesterday we were expecting snow, and woke up to a whole foot of it!!!  Jon has a 4wd vehicle, so he was off to work, business as usual.  I wasn't about to attempt to go anywhere, so we stayed in and made the best of it!!!  We had fun with toys, games, dvds, nick jr, lots of books, and tons and tons of food...Seriously, I think that if I lived somewhere that you are snowed in all winter long, I would probably submerge from it all with 50 lbs packed on!!:)  I made the kids chocolate chip pancakes and fried eggs, chicken nuggets and fries, they had tons of snacks in between, and while Evelyn was sleeping, I baked Jebbie and I chocolate ship cookies!!!  See what I am getting at??!!??

Finally, Jon got home, and Jebbie could not wait to get outside!!!

Evelyn couldn't figure out what on earth he was doing out there, and just stood at the front door yelling,"Jebbie, Mere" (Jebbie, come here)

He had an absolute blast, and afterwards we slid on over to an Ice hockey game downtown.  We sat right on the ice, and I was FREAKED out!!!!!  I was so scared one of us was gonna be knocked out with a flying puck!!!!!!  It was fun, and today was back to normal!

Now we just have tons and tons of snow everywhere!!!  It is so pretty, especially once all the roads are cleared off!!!

LOVE, Abi

***UPDATE***

I'm SOOOOOO ready for this!!! Thought this little video might brighten up your winter day!!

Make sure to pause the music at the bottom first!  BTW, a few people have asked me about different songs I have had on the website, so I thought I'd tell you about the current song.  It is a song from the soundtrack of the movie "The Holiday".  It just makes me happy, so if you get a chance, listen to the song entirely, it is beautiful!!

A Few Random Memories...

I wanted to share a couple of moments we have had lately...mostly so I don't forget them!!

The other night I was laying in Jebbie's bed, and we were reading books.  A piece of my hair was on my face that he noticed and he brushed it away from my face and then grabbed my face and said with the most thoughtful voice,"Your so cute momma!"  It was the sweetest thing EVER!!!

Our nieces were in town last week, and they wanted to watch our wedding video because they were in our wedding, but barely even remembered it.  Jebbie watched the whole thing with us, and kept asking where Jebbie was!!  When it was all over, Jebbie said," I love that story Mom!"  And then he wanted to dance and he said that he was daddy and I was mommy.   Then he went on to say that in the movie I was dressed like an angel!!!  How funny is that!!!

He is cracking me up lately, and has become quite the comedian!!!  Hopefully this "silly faces" stage will end soon!!!  Until then, this is how every posed pic is gonna be!!

Evelyn is totally obsessed with Boz the Bear and brushing her teeth.  She walks around with her toothbrush and her kids toothpaste.  She constantly wants to wash her hands, mostly to play in the water.  She is still loving nursery school once a week, and calls it "baby class"!!  Here is a pic of her being silly at home.

You gotta love this kid, she is pure sweetness!!

So far we are doing well with keeping busy as to not get cabin fever!!!  I can tell that Jebbie is ready to get outside. This is what happens to our basement after one morning of -10 degrees outdoors; too cold to even think about leaving the house...

They are both sitting at the table at lunchtime now, and Evelyn loves sitting in her own big girl chair!!

I thought I'd leave you today with a pic of our crazy kids!!!  Jebbie is constantly making funny faces, and now Evelyn is copying him, just as she copys him in every other area!!!

Awesome, right??!!

Hope you have a great day!!!

Love, Abi

Goodmorning All,
I just wanted to pass along a quick prayer request.  Please pray for Kelly and her husband and their precious newborn daughter, Harper.  She was induced yesterday and Harper is now in critical condition, having no signs beforehand of anything being wrong.  I do not personally know Kelly, but she was brought to my attention through another friend.  You can visit their blog for updates by clicking the picture above.
I know that they appreciate your prayers so much!!

Isaiah 33:6
"He is your constant source of stability; He abundantly provides safety and great wisdom; He gives all this to those who fear Him."

Dear Lord, please we ask for your perfect peace that is beyond understanding that only You can give to this sweet family.

Jon is on his way to the airport to take his MOM to ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!  Yes you read that correctly!!!  She is going for the weekend and will be home on Monday night.  She will also get to attend the football game on Sunday!!!  We would also appreciate your prayers for Jonathan while she is away.  He will be in great hands, and we will also be over there visiting alot this weekend!!

Have a great one!!

EBAY!!

Hey everyone!  We have had a snowy day here at the Byrd's nest!!!  Fortunately, we have been keeping busy, and it is just about bath time for the baby Byrd's...

I wanted to share with you that I have started an Ebay store.  I have tons and tons of clothing that is just sitting around in tubs, and I have finally decided to sell some of it!! I contemplated being apart of a baby sale held at a nearby school, but attended and it was INSANE!!! Basically, they had so much stuff for sale, you couldn't even tell what all was there!   I don't feel like I would do as well through a garage sale, so  I think for me the best way is through ebay.   I am very excited to give you the link for the first 10 items I am selling.  Actually, I have already sold a couple of rounds of clothing a few months ago to try it out, and was pleased with the results!!!  Also, if you win something and are nearby, as long as you are willing to pick up your winnings I will NOT charge you shipping fees!!!  I start my stuff really low, so you should be able to get some great steals!!!!!  I have got a few things for both of the kids via EBAY, and felt like I got some great stuff , either new or barely used, at a very discounted price.  I don't know about you, I am always looking for the best way to get great stuff for less cost, especially in these days!!!!  Also, if you are interested in a particular size, boy or girl, let me know and I will post those sizes for you to view next!!!

Here is the link, just click below:

Hope your enjoying a great evening!!!!!

Hey all, and Happy New Year to ya!! In case you've been by our site the past week, I've been trying to get on the ball and get this place updated some!!! It is very time consuming, and to be honest with you, sometimes I wonder if it is worth the hassle...I LOVE doing it, but am considering possibly doing something a bit simpler like a blogspot blog. Soon the kids will not be babies anyways!! I have decided to hang tight where we are for now, but eventually will probably go that direction.
Anyways...how was everyone's holidays??? We had a fabulous time of being together, eating outrageously unhealthy foods, playing with tons of new stuff, and most importantly, celebrating our Saviour's birthday, cake and all(more outrageous food..)!! It was so much fun, the entire month really, but I've gotta tell you, I am always happy to move on from the nonstop excitement!!!  I just really like the idea of a clean slate, new year , etc.   I think the best way to fill you in on the past month is to do a little photo update.

December 2, 2008

Jebbie's PDO class performed for the widow's group that I call once a week.  Here is a pic of him passing out a candy cane to the ladies after the songs.

On December 16, Jebbie was in his first ever Christmas program.  This first photo kinda sums it all up...

no, seriously someone took this pic and sent it to me, cause it was just so sad!!!  He practiced night and day all his songs and by the time it was all said and done, Evelyn knew all the songs too!!!  He really did a good job, and just had a moment towards the end of the program because his friend Charlie started crying , so I think he just thought it was the thing to do...peer pressure, sheesh!!

This pic is of Jebbie and Charlie saying their line,"The wise men followed the yellow star!"

We celebrated Christmas with our best friends, the zapps,

and we all went to the colts game with Gram

Evelyn and Mommy have our Tuesday's class at the Library together

We did our annual trip with Nana to the Indiana State Museum to ride the same train that I rode when I was a little girl, yes I am still riding it....

We celebrated Jesus' birthday!!!!!

Jon and I had our 8th wedding anniversary, and celebrated at Ruth's Chris!!!

We brought in the new year at an Ice Game!!!

Evelyn Rose had her first day of PDO on Tuesday!!!  She is now going once a week along with big brother who goes Tuedays and Thursdays!

In sad news, my grandmother Dorothea Caroline Gibbs went home to be with the Lord this Christmas.  She has been very sick for a long time, but it is still so hard to lose someone you love. This picture is me visiting her for the last time before she passed.

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season.(I am sure I missed a ton of things...these are just some times that came to me).  Jon and I are now on a healthy eating kick, so hopefully we can keep it up!!!  As for new year's resolutions, I am trying to memorize more scripture this year.  I memorized Psalm 139 right before the new year, and it has been an amazing experience to have those words written on my heart.  I would love to have you join with me, I will update on the new verses I pick to memorize next.  As always, please leave us a note on the comments page, I LOVE to hear from readers!!!

I would like to leave you with this verse.

"He is your constant source of stability (IS THAT GREAT OR WHAT??); He abundantly provides safety and great wisdom; He gives all this to those who fear Him." Isaiah 33:6 NET

with all my love,

Abi

December 10, 2008

HI!!!  I am sorry I have not been around much.  It has been really busy being Decmeber and all.  We are all doing great, the kids are really excited to have the Christmas tree up, and are excited to celebrate baby Jesus!!!

I have much more to tell you about, but it is going to have to wait until a bit later.

I do want to share a video I came across from a church nearby.  This little video really spoke to my heart.  In a world where we are all going through difficult times, this video reminded me that God is still working in the lives of everyday people just like you and me.  He is the healer, and our Hope.  Something about those simple cardboard signs really hit me.  We all have a story.  I have been saved from much and it is easy to forget.  What is your cardboard sign???

More to come!!

Love , Abi

(Be sure to pause the music at the bottom of the website before starting the video.)

The waves keep rolling up on the sand.

There is something about being near the ocean that makes me feel vibrant, energized, and in love with life.   I have experienced some of my most cherished memories spent along the shore, right on the edge of the water.   I was recently reminded of this as Jon and I were having our getaway trip in Florida     .   It had been some time since my last "date" with the water.   I didn't realize how much I had missed it, until I could begin to smell the salt water and feel the warm ocean breeze as we drove closer and closer to our resort right on the water.

The last time was in Maui   , just my husband and I, well almost...our little boy was along for the ride...I was 32 weeks pregnant at the time.   Jon had never really had many moments of his life alongside the ocean, and I had grown up going to the ocean just about every summer for our family vacation. I can remember sitting/laying in the backseat of our 1986 white Subaru family station wagon, playing a game to see who could spot the ocean first after driving for 2 days just to spend some time near the water.   I have more memories than words can share of my times with my family at the ocean.   Special moments shared with my dad as he would carry my brother Abe and I out as far as he could as we trusted him not to let go of us. Another snapshot if you will is of my mom and I sitting talking on our beach towels as I reluctantly dryed off after another full day of sand and surf to watch the sunset. I fondly remember us just chatting away, genuinely interested in what the other has to share and such a feeling of love for one another.   I remember these moments in my life feeling so close to my loved ones, such a strong bond, even stronger than before.

So now as he and I walked down to the beach for the first time together in Maui     , me giddy with excitement and he, thinking we will probably be done with this in an hour or so, we walked hand in hand onto the hot sand and reached the water.   Feeling wave after wave crash at our feet, I looked at him, and he at me and we shared a smile that I will always remember.   It was his way of saying to me, I get it.   He understood my love for this.   We went on to frolic at the beach daily, morning, afternoon, and maybe our favorite, late night walks along the beach.   We would just keep walking, and felt like we could walk forever.    I would watch from my chair with my most pregnant belly, as he body surfed and felt like a little boy again.   It was heavenly. I was sharing something I love with my husband, the love of my life.   I had always dreamed as a little girl of coming to the ocean with my husband, and here we were.    The sight, the sounds, it feels like a reunion with a loved one every time.     I have never been able to explain that feeling, or even understand it myself, until now.

This past weekend as we finally got settled in and made our way straight to the sand, I was enveloped once again with the same feelings but this time it was something even more.   It was peace.   We walked up to the water together, just like we had before, and I was overwhelmed with the strength and power of the water, and yet at same time the peacefulness was indescribable.   I felt my eyes welling up with tears as I put the pieces together, the similarities of the ocean and my God who created it.

I have drawn so much closer to Him, and have a different relationship now than I did even those few years ago and much more from when I was a little child. My relationship with Him is on a much more personal level, it is hard to explain, you may have the same relationship with Him as well. The feeling I had about longing to be near the ocean was the same feeling I have had when I have not been walking with God daily. Not keeping Him in my moment by moment, and genuinely missing Him in my life, a void that only He can fill.   He is still  there, loving me just the same, but maybe I do not cling to Him as I know I need to.   I knew that the powerfulness was God's way of saying to me," I am in control, you do not need to worry about a thing sweet daughter".   The calming power of the water was His way of saying,"I will give you perfect peace, because you trust in Me."   As I stood there praising my God and best friend, I watched the waves crashing time and time again, and God showed me His faithfulness in that no matter what is going on around us, the waves continue to crash upon the shore.   No matter what is going on in my life and the lives of those around me, He is more than faithful.   I felt His love around me, and as I shared these thoughts with my husband, it was so awesome to share that moment with my Heavenly Father and my true love whom He has given me.

Before we left, I went down to the beach one last time, walked past all the people, and stepped right up into the water.  I hated to say goodbye to the water, and it was almost like a magnet keeping my feet in the sinking sand.  The wind was blowing so hard, and my hair whipped all around my face. Something was missing, and then I realized that  I didn't feel the sadness I usually felt when it was time to leave. I remembered that the Lord is going with me, going before me and that perfect peace comes along with it.  I can look forward to my next "date" but until then, I will keep having the ones I have daily with Him as he continues to show me new things in this every day life He has blessed me with.

God, I thank you for the way you are transforming my life and for the relationship you have shown me I can have in you.   I praise you today, and know that when you do bring the storms of life, and You will, You are still Faithful, my Great God who makes the waves keep rolling up onto the sand.

November 12, 2008

Hi!!  We are home safe and sound, and had a blast on our little trip!!!  The kids did great, and I have to give a huge huge huge thanks to Ginny and my Mom, who both watched the kids for us.  We could not have done this without you guys.  We put the kids to bed at Gram and Poppy's house Friday night, and then left to go home and fly out the next morning early.  It was not hard, and the kids went to sleep in their own rooms beautifully!!  I did cry after we pulled down the driveway...but then was fine!!  Ginny kept them until Sunday afternoon, and then my mom came and picked them up and they came home and slept in their own beds while Nana stayed at our house with them.  We arrived home Sunday evening, and rushed out the door to go to the Pacer game.  When the kids saw us, they were so excited, and Jebbie screamed a high pitched scream, it was so funny!!  Jebbie just kept saying he was so happy!!  It was cute.

The next morning he went to nursery school, and then we left at 3pm to drive to Northern KY university to go see the Wiggles in concert!!!!!  It was SO much fun and a great show.  The kids loved it, and like anything that Jebbie is super excited over, he sits mezmerized almost like he just can't believe it!!!!  So cute!!  Evelyn just kept yelling hi to Wags the dog!!

Today was speech and then we just went to the caf. for lunch.  We have been home since, doing stuff around the house...it has been nice to be home.  Leftovers for dinner, nothing too exciting around here!!  It has been raining all day too, so a good night to stay in.

Now, about our trip!!!

We got there and went straight to the beach!!  Beautiful weather, sunny 80's, a bit windy, Gorgeous!!!  We so much enjoyed our time together.  We went to a wonderful Dinner Sat. night at Tuscan Grill and sat outside with live music.  Very fun.  We then walked all along this neat little road with shops, galleries, and little cafe's and got ice cream at a little parlor.  The next morning we got up and went to the beach again.  We swam pretty far out in the ocean for about 2 hours.  We both got some sun, and Jon got burned pretty bad...indiana skin!!  We all in all had a great time, and I already miss the beach...I am going to have to do a blog on all the things I LOVE about being at the beach...I have got a few in mind already...kind of funny!

We took these pics to document our feelings on leaving for our first time away from the kids Saturday morning...

Sad to be leaving pieces of our hearts behind...

SOOO excited to have time off together, without the kids!!!!!

Thanks again to our awesome moms, for going above and beyond yet again for us!!  We love you both so much and couldn't have done it without you.

Have a good evening!!

Abi

November 7, 2008

Well, the time has come, the details are all figured out, the bags are somewhat packed, and here I am!!  Somehow,I thought this day would never come, knowing at the same time it would!!!  Jon and I have been given the opportunity to go away just the 2 of us for a couple of days.  I have only left Jebbie one night a couple of times, and never left Evelyn.  Jon and I fly out in the morning, and are taking the kids tonight to an undisclosed place (I'll fill you in on the details after we are home).  They are with close family, and will feel safe and secure.  It also gives me a good feeling knowing they are together, and at least Jebbie can reassure Evelyn!!  We fly out Saturday morning for Ft. Lauderdale and are staying at a beautiful resort!  I am so excited!!! It is 10:30 and I am not even dressed yet, just playing with the kids, choo choo trains, baby dolls, anything and everything, just to enjoy some last few day with them before we take them for their first night away. We will be back Monday afternoon, so not a long trip at all, perfect for our first time away.  So if you think of us sometime over the weekend, I would appreciate you keeping us in your prayers while we are apart.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder...how can my heart grow any fonder of my 2 angels??!!  I'll take lots of pics of our time together, and thought I'd leave you with a pic of our last getaway just the 2 of us.  It was March 2005, and Jon and I went to Maui for the greatest trip ever!!!  I was VERY pregnant with Jebbie (he was born April 28) so, he was sort of with us!!!  We had so much fun just the 2 of us, and am really looking forward to having a fun time with my amazing husband as a couple!!!

Love, Abi

November 4, 2008 ELECTION DAY

Goodmorning, I got up really early this morning to go vote assuming that the lines would be crazy!!  I was pleasantly surprised, and waited probably 2 minutes tops!!  I am now ready to get on with it and see who our new President is going to be.

We had a nice weekend, Sunday seemed like the longest day ever because of the time change.  It is dark so early now...I went to Target last night to get groceries around 6:30 and it was dark out.

Saturday night was the season opener Indiana Pacer game, and it was fun.  Jebbie was good, but around half time started saying,"I want to go home now".  Evelyn on the other hand, LOVED it!!!  She is our little cheerleader.  She ate SO much popcorn, and clapped, yelled and cheered the entire game.  Jebbie was really sensitive about his ears, and half the time I was covering his little ears for him...this is the kid who goes to the speedrome every week during the summer with daddy and has no ear sensitivity whatsoever...I think he was just getting tired!!

Today Jebbie has nursery school and then is off to gram's house.  Picture day is today, so hopefully he will have a good hair day!!!!

Have a great day, and hopefully you don't have to wait in any lines too long to vote!!!

Love, Abi
