Wow I just had to take pumpkins down off this web page, has it really been that long? Time sure does fly in this house. We have been very busy, I guess you can figure that out since I have been so bad about updating. I am actually thinking of turning our website into a blog, were I will journal about daily events and happenings much more often. I am encouraging you to stop by often, as I am making this one of my many New Year’s resolutions. I am most likely not going to update daily but I hope to update more than once a week. I really just want to keep track of what happens, cute things that are said, and important events. This will be a journal so when my children want to know what they were like when they were 2, I will be able to show them this. It probably isn’t going to be exciting because our life is far from exciting, but I am okay with being “boring”. Boring is good! My mom use to keep a diary and she would always come up with fun facts for us when we asked for them. I have a wonderful 10 year journal that lays on my nightstand and each night I think as I am drifting off to sleep "I should have written in that today." I figure I manage to log on everyday to check email and facebook I am sure I can find 5 minutes to write about our week/day. I guess now I have all of you to hold me accountable! Now back to the recent events.
We had a very fun Thanksgiving with many visitors. My parents came for most of the week and brought my niece Isabella. She surprised the kids and boy were they thrilled. We had fun baking, making crafts, playing outside, picking out our Christmas tree and going to the Christmas parade. Jason and Laura also made it to Salida during their anniversary trip to Beaver Creek. It was so nice to spend the day with them. As always the time went too fast.
We took our first vacation in about 3 years as a family of 7. We flew to Disney World and met up with Andrew parents. As we loaded the plane you could see the fear in the flight attendants eyes and the relief in the other passengers faces as they passed our seats and realized they weren’t sitting near us! We figured out our kids are great little travelers (the surprises in their backpacks didn’t hurt.) Disney World was super fun and the kids had almost as much fun as the adults. Grace had a very special day and got a make over at the Bippity Boppity Boutique. Her makeover included hair, make-up, nails, a new Belle dress, accessories, lots of glitter, and even more hair gel! She was so thrilled and thankful for the experience she kept saying “this is my dream come true.” Little did she know it was mine too! I should also add she wore her dress everyday to the park and her hair stayed in for 3 DAYS! Gross I know but you are only 6 once. It was worth every penny!!!!! Drew’s favorites included splash mountain, big thunder, toy story mania, swimming, and of course Lego Land. He filled out his Christmas and Birthday list there! Sam was very impressed that at every meal, even breakfast you can get ice cream. Not just ice cream but sundaes with m&m’s, chocolate, whip cream & gummi bears. He was not a fan of any of the Characters…..even Mickey. He thought they should be admired from a distance. He did love meeting his beloved Lightening MQueen and Mater! Andrew and I enjoyed our old favorites Lion King, Space Mountain, the safari, but mainly we just loved watching our children take in everything. We had a great time and we were very blessed to be able to go on this trip with Gramma and Grampa. I am sure they took a big NAP once they got home!!!!
Unfortunately after we got home we all got the stomach flu followed by strep. It was a long month! We enjoyed being home for the first time in 5 years for Christmas, even though Andrew & I got the flu on Christmas morning. Warren and Linda (AJ parents) came for a visit and to surprise the kids, they were successful! We were very bummed about being sick and tried to make the best of it. Santa was very good to everyone!
Things are finally back normal and everyone is healthy, at least until the next stuff comes around! We are still really enjoying school. Grace and I are doing a timeline of bible events which is a really neat project. She is also doing great in Math. Drew is really getting excited about reading, he is improving every day. He does a great job writing. Sam is a very busy talkative 2 year old. I would say he talks better than most 3 year olds. He is very fun and keeps us on his toes.
Drew had his 5th birthday, I do think he really enjoyed his little LEGO birthday despite running a 102 temp. Poor kid. It did give us a great excuse to sit around build legos and play his new games.
I am very much enjoying being home with my kids. I am amazed by how no 2 days are ever a like. Just when I think we have a schedule down someone gets sick or a new tooth. I really enjoy my MOPS group it is so good to get together with other moms and the kids love it too. I am back to working out! Thanks to my wonderful husband for setting up a workout area for me, I feel so better! Jake and Alice are getting so big! They roll everywhere and are already really changing life for me. Especially since half our house is filled with Legos and the other half is filled with Barbie shoes! They are both so happy and the other kids adore them. I mean they really love them, and they can keep from holding, kissing, and even occasionally trying to pick them up. I am so thankful for that. My hope is Jake and Alice grow-up to be the best of friends, it has worked with the other 3 thus far! Well, I better close tonight is dance which means I need to round up some tights and a ballet outfit……..I should try to fit in a shower too..lo
Check out the many pictures I added. Santa got me a new SLR camera so I am a little picture crazy these days!
Thanks for checking in!
