It has been a very busy fall, but I guess that will likely be the theme around the Johnson household every season! The kids and I enjoyed a very fun and relaxing day at the zoo earlier this month.Andrew doesn’t see how it could have been relaxing but the kids were so well behaved it made it very enjoyable. The highlight was feeding the giraffes! The kids loved it almost as much as I did.My personal high point was giving Sam a cracker to feed the baby giraffe, only to turn around to see him give one to the giraffe and one to himself!!!!I guess I should have explained it betterJ
The kids and I are enjoying school! It is amazing to see their achievements and how much they improve each week.Grace started her dance classes this month with hip hop, ballet, and tap.Grace and Drew are both loving Awana too, we are very happy about that!Sam is such a ham and cracks us up on an hourly basis; 2 year olds are a blast.Jake and Alice are growing up too fast.We just started them on cereal and they actually like it!I never thought I would have 2 to feed or 5 for that matterJThey are such a joy, I can’t believe it has already been a year since we first got the news “I see 2 heartbeats”.Brings tears to my eyes to even think about it. 90% joy and 10% fear or maybe the other way around….only kidding!
We really cherish the time Daddy is home, which isn’t near enough. He has made our Saturday’s so fun with his famous “Pancake Saturday”…….which includes bacon too!As for me I guess you could just say I have my plate full being a full time mom and teacher.I love every second of it!I know that before we even know it, we will have half of them out of the house. I will have plenty of time for hobbies and such then, but right now there is no where else I would rather be!
September 23, Sorry it has taken me so long to update our website! We had a great summer with lots of family time and travel. The kids and I had great time visiting family and friends in IL. It was so great to see everyone!! We had fun swimming, visiting the zoo, children's museum, parks, and of course playing with all the cousins. We were excited to extend our trip and thankful for our time in IL.
Andrew and I also got away for a few days just the two of us, it was very nice. We are thankful to the brave souls that cared for our 5 children while we were away.....thanks Gramma & Grampa. Sam filled us in on Gramma's secerts..........M&M's. He has been convinced that the M&M's went back to IL with Gramma and she is keeping them at work!
Our fall has started out to be just as busy as our summer. Things are a bit different this year instead of wiping my tears and sending Grace and Drew off to school, we have started Homeschooling. It has been a big change but a welcome one. We are very excited and really enjoying every step of this learning process!
Grace is going to start dance in a couple weeks. She is going to take hip hop, ballet, and tap she is very excited. We have been swimming a lot, the kids are such great little swimmers. I see swimteam in the their future!
Our babies are growing so fast.....Sam is now in his big boy bed! It has taking some convincing but he now staying in the big boy bed!!!!! Jake and Alice are now in their own cribs in their room. They are so sweet! Jake is our lap baby and Alice has to be the sweetest baby ever with all her smiles.
We have already had our first snow in the mountains so beautiful! We are all excited about this upcoming ski season.......I am thinking by the time all of our little ones are all out on the slopes, I will need lessons!

July 25th- We have had a busy week with Vacation Bible School, Mommy's birthday, and tomorrow we are heading to Hooper Pool for swimming and a picnic. So check back for more pictures of the kids swimming. We had a great week of VBS, the Edmund Church of Christ came in from Oklahoma again and did a wonderful job. The kids had a ball and enjoyed every minute of VBS....especially their teachers. They brought over 65 people in from Edmund, we had such a fun week. It was hard to say goodbye to all of our friends who we get to know better and better each year. We already can't wait for next year! I had a nice birthday with my 6 favorite people, cake, flowers, and a 2 hours nap....perfect!
We have decided Jake and Alice are the best babies....so patient and sweet! Sam is such a big boy now. He got to go to VBS and was a huge hit with the teenage girls.......he had a ball. Grace and Drew invited many of their friends to come to VBS and were thrilled to have them all go. What good hearts those two have.....they make their mommy and daddy very proud! We are excited to escape for the day tomorrow and get daddy all to ourselves.....too bad we have to take him out of town to do that! He has had a busy couple weeks. I am preparing for our trip to IL. It is a little hard to know where to begin packing but I know I will get it all done. We will be pulling a trailer so I guess my motto will be "ahh just stick in who knows we might need it". We are very excited to see everyone and the kids can't wait to play with the cousins (I can either). Well, that is all for now Jake is telling me it is time to eat!
July 4th-Happy 4th of July! We had a fun weekend filled with BBQ's, working on the playground, roasting marshmellows in the backyard, and having daddy home an extra day!! I can't believe June is gone. I have no idea where it went but I am sure I enjoyed every minute of it. The babies are now 2 months and are growing and changing daily. Sam is now almost 2 and he amazes us. His new question is why to EVERYTHING!!! Grace spends minutes explaining something to him and response back to her is "but why". Very cute and we are learning a lot with our explanation of things like : why he can't climb to the top of the slide and jump off! It is so fun to see his little mind work. Our favorite thing to ask him is "Sam, what does a cow say?" his answer is always "COW". Very funny! Grace and Drew are getting ready to finish T-ball this week. They had a lot of fun playing and are great little hitters. We are excited to having more time for swimming and playdates now.
We are looking forward to traveling back to IL for a couple weeks to introduce Jake & Alice and visit all our family& friends. Let me rephrase that........we are looking forward to the visit and dreading the actual travel! It is going to be intresting I am thankful for the 2 brave women (grandmas) who have been talked into traveling with 5 children in one van for 18 hours. I hope mommy doesn't have too many meltdowns.
We hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday! Enjoy the pictures of our 5 beautiful sparklers!!!!! Check back tomorrow for a J&A weight update we head to the doctor in the afternoon.
Had our Doctors apt. Jake is now 12lb 12oz and 24 inches Alice is 9lb and 22 inches. Neither one have been happy since their shots!
June 19th.....Happy Father's Day Weekend! Not a lot new to report we just had some warm days so we broke out the kids new waterslide.....they had a ball and I got some fun pictures. Jake and Alice are doing well, growing, and are still the best babies...so blessed. I am even getting some sleep keeping them on the exact same schedule is paying off! We are looking forward to a fun Father's Day Weekend with Daddy...not a lot planned it is just fun to have him home. Pancake Saturday should be extra fun since one of his gifts is a new griddle big enough to feed all of us at once.....PLUS bacon. I should explain the Sam picture.....his favorite thing to do is escape the shower and run around naked until we catch him. He gets the biggest kick out of this and I have to admit it is pretty cute! Well, I was doing showers alone and finishing up with G&D......and let's just say he got away from me......I couldn't resist sanpping a picture! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
June 14th-Summer is here and in full swing, now if it would just stop acting like Spring! We have had some fun events this past couple weeks: Grace turned 6, Sam is now 22 months, T-ball started, babies are a month and weigh over 10lb and over 8lb, and we took a trip to Denver. We had a nice quiet day here at home for Grace's big day and then celebrated in Denver over the weekend. We had a great time in Denver going to the zoo, swimming, eating at the Cheesecake Factory, and shopping a bit (mostly mommy enjoyed this). We all had a great time together!
Grace is such a sweet girl, we just can't believe it is possible she is 6. Although she does act ever bit of 6. She is so helpful with her brothers and sister and is really a little too smart for her parents! Drew is playing T-ball this summer along with Grace and is quite the hitter especially for being the youngest on the team. He marches to the beat of his own drum most of the time and is the most loving little boy. Sam is now 22 months and is so fun! He talks nonstop and really understands almost everything now........it makes for less fits. He loves singing "Happy Birthday" and you really can't understand it until he gets to the end and he say cha cha cha. TOO CUTE!!!! Jake is now over 10lb and is a BIG boy he eats like crazy, mommy is doing everything she can to keep up with them. We call him our chubby monkey.......well because he is. I predict he will be our biggest boy yet:-) Alice is our little sweet pea, she is just so precious! She is a very easy baby and never fusses......she is now over 8lb. Mommy will take some credit for this especially since all I get done these days is feeding babies/kids/husband and changing diapers. Life is really busy but great! Andrew is really busy with work and now he has a new hobby of building a kids haven in our backyard. Yesterday he built the biggest sandbox I have ever seen and next on the list is a playground for the kids......it is going to be very cool. The kids can't wait and niether can I. It will be great to have a park in our backyard!!!!! Hope everyone is doing well and you enjoy all the pictures:-)
We have had a another exciting week! Grace graduated from Kindergarden, last day of school for Grace and Drew, Grampa is back for another visit, and Jake and Alice are growing and do great! Monday we had another great visit at the the Doctor's and he said the babies are doing great esp. for Twins. Jake is now 7lb 4oz and Alice is 5lb 8.5oz.....they are growing too fast. I just want to keep them this size forever. We are still on a good schedule and I am getting some sleep....but need a nap every afternoon:-)
We are all excited because school is out! I am excited that we don't have to go anywhere in the am it is great....pj's all day if we want. Grace had her Kindergarden graduation last night and was so cute! She had to read in front of everyone and did AWESOME! Grandpa said she did the best and had the hardest reading......I can't disagree:-) In the car on the way home she said "Mommy I actually feel bigger now." Talk about making a Mommy cry! We are looking forward to the 3-day weekend with Daddy and having Gramma visit too. I have been taking tons of pictures and added a few to the website.....Enjoy!
May 12th- We are so pleased to announce the safe arrival of our twins Jacob Wilson 6lb12oz and Alice Louise 4lb 15oz on May 4th at 6:23pm & 6:24pm. The babies names have a lot of meaning to Andrew and I, Jacob Wilson holds the middle name of Andrew's mother's maiden name to honor his late Gandparents and Alice Louise is named after both our maternal Grandmothers 2 very special ladies. May 4th was a crazy day and these babies decided to let us know that they are in charge! Despite wanting to try to stop labor until our 38 weeks they decided they were coming at 37 weeks no matter what. On Monday, I wasn't feeling great so I called Andrew at work and my doctor and we decided we better head to the hospital. We left Andrew's Dad in charge of the 3 older kids and he did awesome! I think we caught him off guard but he handled the stress of three kids by himself with ease.....he never called us once. Although Drew did say that Grampa made him eat salad......GO Grampa! Andrew got us to Pueblo in record time about 1 hour and 40 min (I think he could have a future in Nascar) it is a good thing too because when I arrived at the hospital I was dilated to a 10 and my water broke once I got into bed. We tried to get the babies in position to be born with out a c-section but we were unsucessful so the babies were born at 6:23 & 6:24 pm via c-section (1 hour and 23 min after arriving to the hospital). Everything went great Jake had a little trouble breathing at first so he had some assistance for about 10 hours and then did great. Alice was little but mighty and was healthy from the very start. The babies got the go ahead to go home a whole day before I was ready.......praise God!!! I really didn't want the c-section but it hasn't been bad at all. The worse part was having to endure the whole labor process......could have done with just the c-section. Jacob & Alice are doing great they never really lost weight and are already gaining....YEA Mommy. They are so precious and such good babies. They love to be next to eachother it is the coolest experience having Twins. Grace, Drew & Sam are doing great, they are helping a lot and have figured out that Mommy and Daddy have plenty of love to go around. We are so grateful for our 5 healthy children we appreicate all your prayers to get these babies here safely.
We enjoyed a great visit with Andrew's parents and now my mom is here to help us ease into adding 2 new additions to our family. We enjoyed celebrating Andrew's Birthday on Saturday the kids sang to him about 4 times. Andrew made Mother's Day extra special this year with cooking a wonderful breakfast and lunch, a beautiful necklace, and oh yeah 5 amazing children. We are amazed each and everyday how our children are changing we are looking forward to a fun summer! Enjoy all the pictures...more to come......
Happy Easter Everyone! I am a little late but I wanted to get some 34 week belly shots before I updated.....warning one of them is a bare belly! It is quite a sight I know but I had some requests. At my doctor's visit on Thursday my belly measured 46cm, the biggest I ever got was 42 cm at 40weeks! Things are going well with being on bedrest it seems to have slowed everything down and the babies are growing and doing great.
We had a nice Easter although a little depressing since I had to spend most of it from the bed and the first year I have ever missed church. Of course there was no good cookin either...oh well we will have a lively house next year. The kids had a ball finding all the eggs this year.....the Easter Bunny was very sneaky. Sam was so funny he had arms full of eggs and some that he found came from his sister's basket! He only ate 2 pieces of candy before daddy's yummy breakfast. Grace and Drew had so much fun coloring Easter eggs. It made me think of the hours my sister and I would spend decorating them even when we came home from college!
We are slowly getting ready for these babies and getting very excited to meet them. Their room is finally painted and their drawers are full. It is really fun to have both pink and blue clothes. I think Andrew and I have agreed on a boy's name finally and we have had a girl's name picked out since before Sam. Now we just need to get to 36 weeks and we will be in great shape! I am excited to say my next website update will be with baby pictures. Thank-you so much for all your thoughts and prayers during this amazing adventure God has taken us on. We can't wait to see what else he has in store for our family of seven!
April 1st- Happy April Fool's Day. It has been a month since I last updated and it doesn't seem possible that a whole month has gone by! I am thankful for the babies sake:-) We are now 32 week I am so grateful to have hit our first goal.....now onto 34 weeks. I am doing really great considering I feel huge. This week my contractions have increased a lot so we increased my medicine and sometime I have to take extra doses but it still seems to be working well. We had an ultrasound at 31 weeks and the babies are still right on schedule weighing aprox. 3.11 and 3.9 they both were practicing breathing which is great. Thanks for all your prayers.
In other news Sam came for a quick visit and it was so great to have him home we can't wait until Thursday when he is home for good! We are confident we are going to have to deprogram him from "what happen's at Grandma's house stays at Grandma's house" and get him back to reality. We are grateful he has gotten so much quailty time with his Grandparents.
We moved to our new home on March 15th and are really getting settled. The house is nice and in time we will do some improvements but for now we are really enjoying it. Our favorite part is having so much land the kids are living outside these days playing and driving their cars everywhere! We can't wait till summer time I have a feeling we will be outside all the time.
On Sunday, my friends threw me a wonderful "Twin Baby Shower" and it was so much fun. It has been so long since we had a girl's day and I truely feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends. We got so many cute things and much needed supplies and diapers. It was a great day!
Hopefully I will get in another update before these 2 little babies make their big debut but if not we will update with baby pictures.
March 1st- I can't believe it has been almost a month since my last update we have had a crazy month to say the least. I have had some pregnancy issues with pre-term labor and actually spent 2 full days (seperate events) in the hospital. I am thankful to say everything is under control now and we are closely monitoring my contractions 2 times a day at home.....it is the coolest thing. The down part is I have to be hooked up to a terbutaline pump that gives me a very large constant doses (even bigger than the shots in the hospital) via a needle in my leg. It is not the most plesant thing but it is working along with the modified bedrest. The babies however are thriving and doing beautifully we have had a couple ultrasounds recently and they are growing great. On Feb 16th they weighed between 2lbs and 2lbs 4oz which is well over a week ahead of schedule.....YEAH for growing big babies. As for me I haven't gained enough weight, so they would like to see me gain more. I am trying believe me. This is a definite first for me!!!!!
The other big event ......happy and sad is Sam went on a little trip to IL to be with our parents for a while. For this we are truely grateful it has made the biggest difference on my body by far. Our parents are getting so use to having him around I am not sure they are going to let us have him back. My father n law thought they were doing such a good job that they should be able to keep Sam because after all we are going to have 4 others. This didn't go over very well with Mommy and Daddy we are pretty partial to him. We miss him so much but he is doing great at least that is what they keep telling us. Grace and Drew have had a hard time with Mommy not being able to do anything and baby brother being gone but I think they have also enjoyed having Mommy and Daddy all to themselves. Grace and Daddy have been going skiing and Drew and Mommy have been building lots of things with his legos. He had gotten a new set and I asked him if he wanted to build it with me and he said " ahhhh don't you think we should wait till Daddy gets home?" Mildly offended I told him I would do my best and even though it took twice as long we got that front loader built! What a funny boy!
We have been so blessed to have family and friends so willing to help us with Sam, bringing food, watching our kiddos, sending me reading material, and driving kids to school. For this we are truely thankful! For those of you keeping track we are almost 28 weeks and would love to make to 36-37 weeks before these 2 little bundles make their apperance which is last week in April.....1st of May.
Please keep Sam in your prayers along with our parents who are doing a wonderful job with him. Andrew's parents and Sam as they travel for a visit on Friday. As well as our up-coming move to our new house the week of the 14th.....I know talk about bad timing! And of course that these babies stay in as long as possible.
Jan. 27th We have had a great couple weeks with lots of sun and warm weather!!! We have taken the kids skiing a lot and they are loving it. They are both getting so good too.....it amazes me! Grace now goes to the very top of the lift and skies the whole mountian with Daddy. Mommy is so proud! Daddy is thrilled to have 2 new ski buddies. Drew's favorite things about skiing are the lift, skiing with Daddy, and hot chocolate with Mommy.....in that order.
With this great weather we have been playing a lot outside and at the parks it has been great. The kids are still swimming a lot and taking lessons with their best friends Chase and Emma. We try to go a couple times a week. Sam is so funny and has no fear! He keeps Mommy on her toes when he jumps in without warning!!!!
We had another doctors apointment this week and everyone is doing well and growing. I was a little surpised at gaining 5lbs in 2 weeks but they said that is great. They are still keeping a close eye on me since I am still having quite a few contractions. We go for another ultrasound on Feb. 10 so we will keep you posted! We hope everyone is doing great and we will keep you up to date on what is happening in CO..........so check back often!
Jan. 11th We had a busy week with lots of excitment! On Monday, we all went to our 20 week ultrasound and found out everyone is growing great and we will need blue & pink!!! Grace was so sweet she said "Mommy I won't be upset if it is 2 brothers because God gives us what we need, but I hope he wants me to have a sister." What a sweet girl with a great heart......I can't believe she is only 5 sometimes. Drew has said that one is a boy and one is a "gurl" from the moment we told him that there are 2 babies in mommy's tummy, so when Trina (our ultrasound tech) told us the news he announced "I was right". SO funny!
On Wednesday our big boy Drew turned 4!!!! He had a great day with cupcakes for all his friends at school and lots of presents at home (it looked like Christmas again). On Saturday we continued his birthday celebration with his friends at the bowling ally. He had a "Spiderman" birthday and loved bowling. The boys were so cute in their Spiderman masks and never wanted to take them off. We all had so much fun!
Jan. 1st 2009- Happy New Year to you all. We are very excited for 2009 and all the wonderful changes in store for us this year. We enjoyed a fun New Year's Eve with our good friends the Bangharts and Adams's. The kids had a ball playing together and putting on puppets shows. Almost as much fun as the guys had playing Wii Rock Band. They were very entertaining to watch and took their Rock Star status very serious. We actaully made it till midnight Drew almost fell asleep but was a trooper. Sam went to bed at 9 which was like 12 for him. New Year's Day has been great and more of the same....yummy food(what a great time of year to be pregnant with twins), movies, and not getting dresses.....it is really going to be hard to go back to school! We are all very excited for my Doctor's visit on January 5th where we will find out what color to buy for these two little babies. Grace says she wants to know even if they are boys! We are getting ready for Drew's birthday which should be lots of fun since he is having is first birthday party with friends......bowling for everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!
Dec. 29th- Hello friends and family we hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a Happy New Year. We had a great trip back to the Midwest and we are very thankful for our safe, long, but uneventful 18 hour trek each way. We enjoyed getting to see our families especially our nieces and nephews....what cuties! Grace, Drew, & Sam enjoyed playing with Isabella, Luke & Ben at each of their houses.....they said it was fun to play with their toys and see their rooms! Santa came on Saturday night so we enjoyed a nice cozy Christmas Day at home on the 28th. The kids were a blast and soooooo excited they are at the perfect age. They played all day with their new toys and I have to say Andrew and I really enjoyed playing too. I am still working on getting everything uppack but I am not really in a hurry. Yesterday the kids and I baked cookies and put away their new toys. This morning we are watching "Horton Hears a Who" in our pj's with no plans of getting out of them! I love Christmas Break.
Happy New Year!
Love, Jill
P.S. We get daily concerts from Grace with her new guitar and Drew on his drums. We are thinking about starting a band!
Hello friends and family sorry it has taken me forever to update our site things have been very busy but great. In August we sold our house and moved to a rental in town, we are thankful to have sold our home. Now we are trying to figure out what we should do next: stay, build or buy. The move went great despite my husband's busy travel much of late September and early October. I learned a lot about myself during this move. 1). I can teach myself to hook-up a trailor and drive Andrew's truck/trailor across town with 3 kiddos in the backseat. 2). I also learned to back it up.....it wasn't pretty but I got it done. 3). I also learned that it doesn't matter how pretty you boxes are packed just tape them up and get them moved to the new house!
As most of you know we are expecting TWINS (I still have to write that word in all CAPS) in May. At our 8 week appointment much to my shock we saw 2 little heartbeats (I hope I never forget that awesome sight). I spent the next few hours convicing my family that I wasn't joking we were in fact having 2 babies. Andrew took the most convincing because he was SURE I was joking! I am still not sure it has really sunk in yet. Just yesterday he called me from work and said "can you believe we are going to have 5 children running around? What are we going to do?" I said I have no idea but I am sure we will figure it out! Grace can't wait even if it is 2 boys. She says that just means all the princess stuff is hers....what a great way to look at possiblity of having 4 brothers!!!!! Drew just watches everything I eat (which is a lot these days) and asks "Mommy do you think the babies like that salad cause I don't think they do". He just wants to know if they are boys or girls, he thinks one of each. Sam is so busy and is getting more fun everyday. He is very busy and really starting to understand things. He throws the cutest fits.....I have no idea where he gets it!!!!
We are excited about our trip to IL this Friday. We are praying the snow lifts and we can drive on dry roads.
Aug 17th Well, it has been a whirlwind since we got home (which is why no one has gotten any thank-you notes from me....sorry). The last day we were in IL Andrew and I got an offer on our house and we are under contract and set to close Sept 30. YIKES that is 30 days away. No we still aren't sure where we will be moving too but you will be the first to know:) We are blessed to have sold both of our homes. I had my first garage sale and was AMAZED at the turnout and success. I will be having one every year from now on. The biggest event since being home is that Grace started Kindergarten!!!!! It was so sad. She is so big. On her 2nd day of school she "are you going to cry again today mommy?" I did, I just did it after I dropped her off. She loves school and Drew is loving preschool. Thank goodness Drew only goes 3 mornings a week and Sam is only 1!!!!!!!!
Aug 1 We flew to IL for our 2 week visit. We had an amazing time and had so much fun visiting everyone. The BEST part was meeting our new baby cousins Will, Finn, Elizabeth and of course playing with Isabella, Luke, and Ben!!!!!!!!! Grace and Drew are still talking about how much fun they had. We spent alot of quality time with the Grandparents hopefully everyone's house is back in order:-) Some of the things we got to do were visit the zoo, children's museum, water parks, a trip to St. Louis, and lots of swimming. It was so fun see all my old friends, Mary, Christie, Beth, Teresa & Adam.......thank-you for coming to see us. We got to celebrate Sam's big first birthday with everyone, thanks so much to everyone. It was truely a wonderful trip and we are so blessed to have gotten to come to IL for so long!!!!!!
July 22nd-This was an awesome week for our kids and our church. We had over 80 kids from our small town come to our church for a wonderful vacation bible school. The Edmond Church of Christ from Oklahoma came to Salida CO and put together a wonderful week of VBS. Grace and Drew had a blast it was so fun to see. We topped the week of by heading to Denver to pick-up Andrew's dad from the airport. We had alot of fun with Grandpa Warren. He was very impressed with the kids swimming and thought they did awesome during their swim lessons. We loved having him here for the week and can't wait for him to come back!!!!!!
