With the AQI slightly lower today, we ventured out! We spent most of last week cooped in because of Kaitlyn's allergies and how bad the smoke was for her. After how bad she reacted after such minimal play on Thursday, I didn't want to take her outside for anything at all Friday!
We started this morning by going out on the boat with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina and Uncle Brian. Kaitlyn was so excited to feed this special duck in the Marina. Kaitlyn named him Prossee and then proceeded to spell it for us so we would know what she was talking about.
Once we got out where we were going to anchor, Kaitlyn and I took the little raft and oars to the beach to play in the sand. You'll notice in a lot of pictures Kaitlyn's wearing a life jacket. We take water safety very seriously and have taught her that she does not go into water without either her life jacket on or her special "floaties" bathing suit. She also knows she isn't allowed near the water without Mommy and Daddy. Kaitlyn's not even allowed on the boat without her life jacket. This year, she picked out Barbie, she loves Barbie. You would not believe how many kids were out there, in the river without one on, especially with the common knowledge of how many drownings there are every year.
Kaitlyn gots lots and lots of playing in, a yummy lunch and more swimming with Daddy. While we were out there, we were interviewed by Sacramento Bee for a story about boating! Once it was time to start heading in, Kaitlyn watched for a minute and then went to bed. She was so tired. She fell asleep a little before 4 and didn't wake up until after 7. Had her friend not of showed up, she probaby wouldn't have woken up so early.
Once we got back, Grandma and Grandpa went back to the boat for a sleep over! Mommy and Daddy's friends Dorin, Nicole and Dominick came over to BBQ and Kaitlyn couldn't have been happier that Dominick was here to play with her!
It was a wonderful day and we're so happy Kaitlyn had so much fun :)
Smoke, Smoke Go Away and Stay Away so we can play!
The air quality is terrible. It has been all week. Because of Kaitlyn's terrible allergies, that means we've kept her inside most days. On Tuesday, she was outside for about an hour and became a little congested so we kept her inside all Wednesday. Thursday we did our weekly play date at Chick Fil A with her cousin and honorary cousin and some new friends before heading to Nana and Papa's house. Papa was able to go home and Kaitlyn and Camaryn couldn't be happier.
Kaitlyn had a blast with Camaryn all day yesterday. They played outside for a couple of hours in the back. We played pageant, with rollie pollies and Kaitlyn played Soccer Pageant where she hits her x's while kicking a ball. She's our funny monkey that's for sure!
By the time we got home though, her voice was hoarse. This morning, it was terrible. Because of the smoke she was so congested and snotty. So, again, we stayed inside. We're really hoping the smoke clears up soon so we can go back to having fun and playing!
I had all of Kaitlyn's Disneyland cameras and her Zoo Camera developed, so I'm going to work on uploading those pictures now :)
I have new videos of Kaitlyn Swimming today! I had to break it down into 5 videos, each 3 minutes. She's pretty cute. She'll swim under water, tell her jokes and talk a lot :)
I had to post again, I'm so excited for Kailtyn! We were out swimming (We're on our snack break) and she showed me how she learned to swim under water!! She's so good! She's such a fast learner, probably the fastest I know!! She's like a little fish now! Soon we're not going to need the floaties at all. We probably don't need them now, but they make me feel better :P
I got some pictures of us in the pool thanks to the awesome tripod from Auntie Sammie and Uncle Davey and my remote :)
We're back from the zoo!! We got there nice and early before anyone else really. Kaitlyn had an absolute blast and got to see all of her favorite animals and reptiles. I am so proud of her, she's figured out the differences between Iguana and Lizard all on her own and identifies each one at each exhibit. She's also learned the difference between toad and frog and learned the names of many from our previous visits! She's our smarty pants little girl!
Turns out, Tuesdays are a great day to go. Last week we saw the Snow Leopord with the veternarians and today we saw the little ducks being given their exams! It was so neat to watch.
After the zoo, we headed to the lake to feed the ducks. Kaitlyn was so excited because there was a little duckling with it's mommy eating bread. We went through an entire loaf and Kaitlyn was able to get close enough where she could have kissed their beaks if she dared! Stay tuned for pictures to be updated soon!
The rest of this hot day is going to be spent swimming with the princess! Daddy went to go and see Papa in the hospital. They believe they found what was wrong with him and repaired it surgically last night. Hopefully that is what it was and he'll be home soon. Kaitlyn has been suffering from either a cold or from her allergies with this smoke. I'm pretty confident that it's the allergies since it seems to be the same symptoms just stronger, which would easily be explained by the smoke, but just in case, we're weary of taking her to the hospital today.
Well, we went and say Wall-E. It was ok. I fell asleep :( Then, Kaityn fell asleep. Dusty enjoyed it though.
We met Auntie Christina and Uncle Brian there. Kaitlyn loved being at the drive-in, she thought it was an absolute blast.
This morning, Daddy went to see Papa in the hospital. Be sure to keep him in your prayers, the doctors are still trying to figure out what is wrong with him. Today he had minor surgery to see if a gallstone was blocking his intestine. He didn't.
Kaitlyn, Auntie Christina, Uncle Brian and I went to lunch with Grandma. From there we went to see Uncle Danny and Ms. Evelyn. They were so nice to Kaitlyn and she wasn't eager to leave.
From there we visited the cemetery. We just finished our yummy dinner :)
Tomorrow Grandma is going to take Kaitlyn to gymnastics while I go to the dentist with my broken tooth! I think most of the week will be spent swimming :) It's gonna be HOT!
Kaitlyn wants to wish a HUGE congratulations to Camaryn for her Queen title this weekend at NES!! Way to go!
We hope everyone had a very safe and Happy Fourth of July!
We started yesterday morning by visiting Papa at the hospital. The nurses were so nice to Kaitlyn, offering her ice cream, cookies and not so nice to Papa since he still isn't allowed to eat. :( Poor Papa.
From there we headed to the Marina to meet Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina, Uncle Brian, Billy and William. We got loaded on the boat, situated with life jackets and we were off!
We started on the Sacramento River and headed to meet Auntie Beth and Uncle Paul on their boat. We tied together and started on the fun! With Grandpa's help, Kaitlyn and William both excitedly caught a fish! Kaitlyn was SOO excited. We went on Uncle Brian's jet ski, which Kaitlyn loved! We used the raft, had lots of yummy food, watched movies and played around. It was an absolutely perfect day to be on the boat.
After nearly 7 hours on the River, it was time to head back in. While we were at the Marina, Kaitlyn and William got to see some really stinky skunks, yucky!
When we got back to Grandma's house, Auntie Christina and Uncle Brian were true rock stars and headed out to get some fireworks. In the meantime, Kaitlyn had a lot of fun watching the neighbors set them off and the really pretty ones in the sky.
When Auntie Christina and Uncle Brian came back, Kaitlyn was a little weary of the sparklers, but was quickly convinced that she should give it a try. She LOVED it. She loved the fireworks and quickly and easily went to sleep after.
Today, we are going to go visit Papa before taking Daddy shopping. Tonight, Kaitlyn is going to the Drive-In for the very first time to see Wall-E. She is incredibly excited.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth and enjoys the rest the weekend has to offer.
Saturday morning started bright and early. Daddy, Kaitlyn and I got ready for the parade in Citrus Heights. Grandma and Grandpa were rock stars and got everything ready for the BBQ.
The parade was a blast. This was the first time Kaitlyn and I represented our National Titles and it was Hope's first parade so it was an exciting day for everyone all around :) Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support us and Natural Beauty Pageants!
After the parade we came back to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Kaitlyn took a nice, long, well deserved nap while we all got our swim suits on and ready for the swim party. We had a ton of fun. Kaitlyn had her cousins help her release her butterflies and they were such good little troopers.
I want to thank EVERYONE that made my birthday special last week. I know that we are incredibly blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. There is no doubting that. I am so grateful that the people that matter to us, make us matter to them. There is nothing I could want for after this week, you are all much too generous and amazing. The only thing that could have made it better would be to have had Matthew here, and while I know he wasn't physically, I know that he was here.
Sunday was clean up morning and then we went to Dominick's 2nd Birthday Party. YAY it was a pool party. Kaitlyn was a little swimmer and loved every moment of it. We hope Dominick had a great day! After, we met Daddy at the cemetery and then came back to Grandma's house.
Yesterday was a happy Monday. Nana took Kaitlyn to gymnastics after I took Kaitlyn to the cemetery since she was asleep the day before and wanted to go. While Kaitlyn was at Gymnastics, I was at the Fireworks stand for her soccer team. I got to help sell for about an hour and then got recruited to hit the businesses and encourage more sales!
After, we ran a gazillion errands, hit the mall, hit some stores and then came to see Daddy!! Daddy went with me to the store where we picked up lots of goodies for our picnic!
Today was an absolute blast. Kaitlyn's said so at least a few dozen times.
We started bright and early at the zoo. Before Sarah and Kayla got there we went to the Amphibian house at the zoo. Kaitlyn loves all the snakes, lizards and frogs. She had so much fun finding them in their houses and then of course wanted to know all about what they eat and where they live.
We spent the rest of the morning at the zoo. It was so much fun. We even got to watch while a Snow Leopard was at the vetrinary sedated having his teeth cleaned and being examined. It was a lot of fun seeing all the animals again, riding the train and saying good-bye to the penguins, they leave on Monday for San Diego :( Since we got there early, we got to watch many of the animals eat and the penguins swim and play.
Once we finished at the zoo, it was time for a picnic!! Kaitlyn and Kayla ran for the oppurtinty to feed the ducks. They easily went through a loaf and a half. They chased them down trying to encourage them to eat :) The girls ate and had a ton of fun before we headed to Fairy Tale Town. They ran wild, went down all of the slides, through the castle, through the cheese, and watered the garden. I have a feeling Kayla was as tired as Kaitlyn :)
We have a fun and busy week and month ahead of us!! We hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far!
Kaitlyn has a lot of attitude and a quick wit about her these days. Some of the things I can quote her on recently are:
"Are you sure about that?" "You just don't worry about me, I'm going to do what I want, you just don't worry about that." "I don't want to talk to you anymore about that daddy, your breath is stinky." "But, I just love you too much" "Do you smell those cherries?" (Waits for you to smell) "Oh wait, that's not Cherries! I just farted"
Kaitlyn's favorite questions remain to be: "Why?" "How?" "What for?" She LOVES the Barbie movies and her favorite one right now is Barbie's Princess and the Pauper. At Chick Fil A on Thursday, there was a little girl in the play area with her and Kayla who also loved the movie, so when Kaitlyn said she wanted to pretend to be Serephina (the cat) the girls eyes lit up.
Kaitlyn loves to tell us stories and loves to do pretend interviews! I'm going to try and tape her tonight to share with everyone!

Monday evening, we went to Auntie Barbara and Uncle Dean's to have dinner and do some swimming. As you can see from the pictures and video I posted, she had a blast! Kaitlyn got to play with her cousins and aunties and uncles!
Yesterday was my birthday, yay for birthdays! I have been very, very spoiled. Thank you so much to everyone for such amazing and thoughtful gifts. Kaitlyn and I got up and around and met Daddy, Auntie Christina and Grandma for lunch at Sizzlers. It was pretty yummy. Kaitlyn liked her french fries the best she said :) After we took Daddy back, I had to drop off my car for some work and then walk that few blocks home. The air quality has been so bad since the fires that it was the longest we'd been outside since Monday night. We didn't spend anytime outside during the day Monday at all it was so terrible.
When we got to Grandma's house, we had a surprise, Auntie Sammie was down to visit and have dinner with us for my birthday! We got to hang out for a while before Daddy and Grandma came home. After Daddy and Grandma came home, we had a surprise and awesome visit from Mommy and Daddy's friend and his son William. William is about 6 months older than Kaitlyn and boy was she excited to see a boy! She immediately wanted to play. She showed him her butterflies and talked and talked to him.
After Grandpa got off of work, we went to Red Lobster with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina, Uncle Brian, Auntie Sammie, Uncle Scotty and Auntie Jamie. When we were finished we all came back here before heading to bed.
Today we have a full scheduel on our plate. We have playdate in Carmichael and then Daddy's softball game. Playdate is inside today because of how yucky the air is and hopefully it won't be too bad where Daddy's game is.
