What a busy, busy week!

On Wednesday, I had a doctor's appointment and Kaitlyn eagerly went with me.  She was such a good girl and sat in the stroller the whole time.  I was really proud of her.

On the way back, we stopped by Auntie Christy's house to drop of Camaryn's pageant dress.  Kaitlyn was not at all eager to leave Camaryn for even a moment so Aunt Christy offered to watch her so the girls could play.  I've been told they were some happy little babies!

I went to pick Kaitlyn up around lunch time and was eagerly greeted by Camaryn.  She gave me kisses, hugs and lots of attention.  The girls played for a while longer before Kaitlyn and I really had to go.  Kaitlyn was still not happy.

Kaitlyn fell asleep in the car before we even got off of Aunt Christy's street.  She was out like a light until we picked Daddy up from work.

Yesterday, Kaitlyn was excited all day long.  She knew it was the day she not only got to go to Daddy's baseball game, but she also got to see Camaryn AND Uncle Ray was in town for the day.  She was so eager she couldn't nap at all!

Kaitlyn was thrilled when we go to the ball park and ran to the "red slide"  She was pretty dissapointed it wasn't a blue slide and wanted me to fix it right then.  Soon, she started building sand castles and the blue slide was all forgotten.

Soon after, Camaryn showed up with a surprise for Kaitlyn.  Kaitlyn excitedly opened the bag Camaryn bought her and almost squeled with delight!  Kaitlyn is now the very proud owner of her very own Max and Ruby beanie babies.  Needless to say, they have not been out of her site since!  She says she is their mommy!  Auntie Christy said Camaryn picked them out for "Katie" all by herself!

Today, we have speech therapy in just a bit!  Kaitlyn's enjoying her raisin snack before we have to leave.

I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day weekend!!

What a busy weekend!

Friday afternoon we went to Char's house for a going away party for her grandsons!  Kaitlyn had a blast playing with the boys and learning how to golf with real golf clubs on a real golf course!

Saturday morning, everyone got up really early and loaded up to go camping!  We met Auntie Christina and started our drive to Del Valle National Park for some fun in the sun!  Kaitlyn had a blast!  Once we got there she was so excited to play in "grandma and grandpa's house" and get nice and dirty.  After a few minutes, she was introduced to the greatest place in the whole wide world!  The small creek allowed her to combine her two favorite things: water and rocks!  This girl was in heaven!

Saturday consisted of a lot of time by the water, playing in the dirt and flying kites with Daddy and Auntie Sammie!  It was definatly the perfect weather for kite flying.  Once the afternoon started to come to an end, Kaitlyn was exhausted.  She eagerly grabbed her Mermaid pillow and princess sleeping bag and took a nice relaxing nap on Grandma and Grandpa's bed watching The Little Mermaid!  We really roughed it, can't you tell ;)

Friday night was perfect for a yummy dinner before Grandpa took Kaitlyn back to the stream!  When they got back, it was jammie and marshmallow time.  Much to my dismay, Kaitlyn wanted nothing to do with roasting marshmallows.  She even went as far as to say "yuck"!  Can you believe that!  She wanted nothing to do with smores!

Kaitlyn helped Daddy and Uncle Davey put on a puppet show before it was time for night night.

Kaitlyn did a good job going to sleep in one of the extra beds with Mommy.  Her only rules were she wanted her princess sleeping bag and Mermaid pillow!

Sunday morning started the best possible way, Hot Chocolate and whipped cream.  Believe me when I say, Kaitlyn did not say yuck to that at all!  She gobbled it like it was going out of style.  That was followed by her second favorite, orange juice!

We all had a delicious breakfast and then went back to the stream to throw more rocks.  After that, Kaitlyn showed her "routine" to everyone that would watch "again again" and played more with eveyone.

It was a very fun trip and we're so glad that Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina, Auntie Sammie, Uncle Davey and Uncle Davey's mommy and Daddy (Mike and Mary) could join us!

When we got home, Kaitlyn was fast asleep.  We showered and Kaitlyn took a nice bath before we went to pick up her best friend and Nana and Papa's house!  Kaitlyn was so excited to see Archie!  You'd think she'd left him for months on end!  Kaitlyn was even more excited when Camaryn was there!  The girls played and played and ate pizza to their heart's content.

This morning, Kaitlyn woke up and got to see Aunt Christy and Cousin Camaryn all over again!  She got to hang out with them while Mommy and Daddy went to the doctors.  I heard she was a very good girl!

I should have new video uploaded tonight from camping and you can see all the new pictures in the picture section!

We have officially enrolled our princess in Preschool!  She'll start at the end of the summer.

Today, we were in the office filling out the paperwork and emergency contact information for about an hour.  There was another little girl there that looked just like Kaitlyn, same hair, same height, same size, big eyes, except they were brown.  Her name was Aurora.  Her and Kaitlyn quickly became the best of friends.  They played, read stories and when it was time to go bye-bye, they gave eachother the biggest hug and kiss ever.

Kaitlyn was really excited about school and asked if we could go back.  I think she's really going to enjoy it.

It's time to visit the exciting world of toddlerdom once again!

Yesterday, Kaitlyn had her TB shot.  I don't think the nurse that did it was all there.  For starters, she was incredibly rude.  I had to hold Kaitlyn down while she pushed the needle under the skin and then inserted the meds.  Kaitlyn, of course, screamed.  Then, she started bleeding.  Because of the nature of the TB test, you cannot apply pressure so bandaids were out of the question.  This led to Kaitlyn bleeding all over her shirt.  We go back tomorrow for the results, although I am sure they will be fine.

Last night, Kaitlyn told Daddy how much trouble he was in.  We went to the Ford Dealership to look at some vans and Kaitlyn pointed out that she only likes Mustangs.  Of course at the Chevy dealerships, she only liked Vettes, so we'll see where that leads us!

This morning, Kaitlyn decided that she was too big for diapers and could only wear panties.  Actually , she could only wear Cinderella panties to be exact.  So, I obliged.  I set up her potty so she would have easy access and explained what to do.  I told her if she had to pee-pee or poo-poo to tell mommy.

I asked her if she needed to pee.  She said yes.  So, we stripped the panties and sat on the toilet.  After about 15 seconds she looked down and said "Oh no, no pee-pee mommy, where'd it go?"  Then she said she didn't need to pee-pee.  So, she had her panties on.  About 10 minutes later, she had an accident.  She was not happy at all!  She had 2 more accidents before we put the diaper back on!  We'll try again in a few days if she wants to.

This afternoon, she's helped me make a chicken, eat jello and played with all of her toys.  We'll see how she does the rest of the day!

Tomorrow, Kaitlyn is having her TB test read and then she gets to go to sign up for preschool!  She'll start in September going 5 days a week, 4 hours a day.  It's an awesome program at the elementary school.  The morning class also has a speech immersion program which could really benefit her.  Much of the class would be structured learning of things she already knows like couting, numbers, letters and things like that.  I'm sure she's going to have a blast!

On Friday, Kaitlyn has speech therapy and Mommy and Daddy are going to see Spiderman 3.  Depending on what time we go, we might also go to a party at Char's house.  I'm sure Kaitlyn would have a blast since "her boys" will be there to play!

Saturday and Sunday will be spent camping with Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy, Auntie Christina, Auntie Samantha, Uncle David and Uncle David's mommy and daddy!  It should be a lot of fun.

On Monday morning, Kaitlyn will get to play at Auntie Christy's house with Camaryn while Mommy and Daddy go and have another ultra sound on little Matthew.  We might even get 3-D pictures of him this time, so keep your eyes peeled for new pictures.

Have a Happy Day!

04/30/07

Well, tomorrow is the first day of a new month!  I can't believe how darned fast time is flying by!

Yesterday, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's where Kaitlyn got to play in her pool and with all of her water toys.  To say she had fun would be a huge understatment!  She had a blast.  She watered down all of the dogs, played with the rocks, went fishing and ran around like a mad woman!  She even went around the room with her purse open asking for "more money please" to everyone in the room.

On the way home, she fell fast asleep and didn't stir until morning.

Today, Kaitlyn has been busy playing.  She's been reading her new books, having fun with her car and magnets and of course, getting into everything imaginable!

This promises to be a busy week for Kaitlyn.  Tomorrow, she has a TB test (which involves a shot poor baby!) and Thursday we enroll her in pre-school!  I can't believe our little girl is going to preschool already!

04/28/07

Today, Kaitlyn went with Mommy and Grandma to look at new cars. Kaitlyn has decided that mommy should get a green car and if I look at anything a different color, she gets very upset with me! She's a funny girl!

Today, we got a package delivered from Kaitlyn's family in New York. Aunt Wende, Uncle Chris and Big Cousins Kimberly and Lauren sent Kaitlyn some clothes, books and new pictures (be sure to check them out in the family section too!)!

Thank you so much!! Look at how big Kimberly and Lauren have gotten. The last time we were able to see them was when Mommy and Daddy got married!

Again!

Kaitlyn went with me this morning to have the ultra sound done on little Matthew.  She was so good!  She sat there for the entire scan and asked all about "Matthew's house" and his heart.

We got back just in time for Kaitlyn's evaluation with Bonnie of Alta Vista.  Kaitlyn has made "amazing" progress.  She is going to continue with speech therapy to help with her pronounciation of words.  Bonnie also recommended we get Kaitlyn on the waiting list for Head Start so she can enroll on her birthday!  We'll be doing that this week!

04/26/07

Good Morning Everyone!

Last night, Kaitlyn gleefully went to watch her daddy play softball!  She has so much fun watching daddy and papa and playing with her mermaid ball!  That was until Daddy got a bad owie.  He slid into base wrong and hurt his foot and ankle.  Once daddy got hurt, Kaitlyn refused to leave his side!  She sat in the dugout with him and followed him everywhere he went!

Kaitlyn is nursing him back to health, so enjoy all the new pics in the meantime!

04/25/07

Kaitlyn really wanted to play with Camaryn yesterday.  She asked over and over "Where Camaryn go" and over and over I told her "Camaryn is sick, she's at Camaryn's house"  Finally, Kaitlyn decided that was not the answer she wanted!  With her arm's crossed, lip pouting she declared "Kaitlyn sick too!" And stormed into the other room.

Luckily, Camaryn was feeling better so we were able to see her in the evening.  Kaitlyn was so concerned with where Camaryn was at all times and constantly asked where she went if she was out of sight for even a moment.

Tomorrow morning is Kaitlyn's evaluation from Alta Vista.  They are going to re-evaluate her expressive speech and see if she still requires services.  It's going to be a close call.

By the age of 3, a child should be able to say between 200-300 words.  Without even trying, I can list 150+ that she's said today alone.  I don't think it would be a stretch at all to say that she knows and says 300 words without prompting.  And, she has a way to go until she's three.  She's not even officially 2 1/2 yet (not until next month at least!)

By the age of 3, a child should be able to speak in 3 word sentences, Kaitlyn does that more often than not and it's pretty common during the day to hear 4 or more words.  Like, "Archie eat peanut butter too!" Or "Where did Daddy go?"

Most 2 year old mispronounce some words.  It is typical until the age of 5.  Even her speech therapist told me that the sounds Kaitlyn ocassionaly mispronounces are incredibly common for her age.

The conerns that were first presented to us were that Kaitlyn did not mimic, she definatly does now!  And that Kaitlyn didn't use the word yes or any form of it to communicate.  If you have even a 12 second conversation with her, you'll hear it a couple of times being used correctly.

I am incredibly proud of the progress Kaitlyn has made.  I'm glad that we were able to address the situation while she is still young.  I look forward to tomorrow's appointment.  I love hearing how Kaitlyn compares to other kids her age.  It's so much more telling then when people try to compare her to kids that are far older than her or have different impairments than she does.

Tonight, we are going to Daddy's softball game so Kaitlyn should have a blast!  Hopefully, Camaryn is going too!

04/24/07

Kaitlyn has an awesome memory. She's great with people's names and remembering how she knows them.

Every day, Kaitlyn adores looking at her cousin's websites as well as her own. Her favorite is the family page. We play the "who is that" game on a daily basis. She knows everyone in her family and their names.

Yesterday we were in the car going to the Victim's March on the Capital when Kaitlyn began asking if we were going to Aunt Barbara's. It was a bit out of no where since we haven't been to Aunt Barbara's house since the end of last summer and haven't seen Aunt Barbara since Christmas. I explained to her that no, Aunt Barbara lived far away. She asked if Aunt Barbara was at work, and I told her she was. After about 5-10 minutes of her asking if we were going there and why not, I began to tape her! So, here's Kaitlyn:

04/23/07

Kaitlyn had a GREAT day yesterday!  After a busy Saturday, we spent Sunday morning loungin around the house.  Kaitlyn was thrilled to be able to watch Mickey Mouse and play with her daddy!  She made sure that he gave her lots and lots of "neigh-neigh" rides!

After lunch, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house!  Kaitlyn was so excited to go over there, but fell asleep on the way.  Luckily, she has her own room there so she napped for about an hour or so until dinner.  When Kaitlyn saw her plate with Mashed Potatoes and her very own cup of lemonade, she sat straight up and was fast awake!

Kaitlyn spent the next few hours showing off her tee-ball skills.  She has a tee-ball set at both Grandma and Grandpas and at home.  She is great at hitting the ball off the tee with the bat!  She'll then either keep hitting or "run the bases!"  Either way, she has a blast.  We can't wait until next spring when she'll be old enough to play tee ball for real!  Kaitlyn drug out as many toys as she could and played and played.

Then, she got to have desert!  Mommy brought over chocolate cake and Kaitlyn could not wait to dig in!  Of course, after that she saw Auntie Christina had a push pop ice cream and Kaitlyn insisted that she either share or get her one too!  Needless to say Kaitlyn slept really good last night!

Today, Kaitlyn and I are going to meet Daddy and Grandma at the Capital for the Annual Victim's March on the Capital.  It should be a nice and beautiful day and I know Kaitlyn is really looking forward to being outside!

Kaitlyn is so very proud of her cousins.  She is proud of her pageant Queen Camaryn and all of her amazing accomplishments on the stage!  She is proud of her cousins Lauren and Kimberly for all of their acheivments and what a great girl scout Kimberly is.  Kaitlyn is proud of her cousin Willy for being in his first movie!  She is proud of her cousin Hope for being so smart and on the cover of her own toy.  She knows that they are all incredibly special in every way.

This is my place to brag and share about Kaitlyn.  I think that being proud of our children is one of the greatest things we can do for them.  I love having the oppurtunity to gush on and on about my princesses, both Kaitlyn and Camaryn.  I am so happy that they both have so many people who care so very much about them to read their sites on such a regular basis.

I share all of the comments on Kaitlyn's site with her.  I print out her stories for her to keep when she's grown.  And we all know how I am about pictures!  I am so happy that Kaitlyn's site can be the positive place that it is and I thank her friends and family for helping with that.

I know that we look at our family as a place of love, support and friendship.  A group that is always there for you, rain or shine.  A foundation that is built on something so strong nothing can bring it down.  I am incredibly thankful that Kaitlyn can have strong relationships with her family based on that love.  I am thankful that she can be there to support her family and be happy for them and no one attempts to turn anyone in her family into someone she must compete against.

Anywho, these hormones are going crazy!  Have a happy Monday!

04/22/07

Yesterday was a fun and busy day!

The morning started with Kaitlyn helping mommy make a tear apart cake! It is a dozen cupcakes that are frosted to look like a cake on the top. Then you can tear apart the cake to have your own mini cake. Kaitlyn's favorite part was helping with the frosting, then carefully adding the star candy she picked out and finally adding the pretty candles she insisted Nana would like. After our chocolate mess we had breakfast and got ready for the day!

For Nana's birthday, Mommy, Daddy, Kaitlyn, Nana, Papa, Auntie Christy and Camaryn all went to breakfast! Kaitlyn and Camaryn were good girls even though it took forever to get our food! They both spent their breakfast tormenting Kaitlyn's Daddy and not sharing their crayons with him!

After breakfast we loaded back into the car and started the drive to Vacaville. We went to the Nut Tree so the girl's could ride the choo-choo train! Kaitlyn insisted that we ride in the back in the green car. The girls were so good. Kaitlyn loved pointing out everything she saw!

Once we unboarded the train, the girls were ready for the carousel. Daddy and Nana took Kaitlyn and Camaryn on and let them pick their rides! Kaitlyn picked out a horsey and Camaryn picked out an Alligator! That silly girl! Once the ride had ended, the rain had began and it was time to hit the outlets.

In the very short time it took to drive across the street, Kaitlyn was fast asleep. If you've seen Kaitlyn sleep you know that nothing in the world can wake her. She seriously enjoys her "night night" time. So, Daddy listened to music in the car while Mommy, Auntie Christy, Nana, Papa and Cami hit the stores. Those stores didn't know what hit them. After a little while, Camaryn realized that she wanted to go night night too, so we got back in the car.

Daddy was our pilot for the day and really wanted to go to a outdoor store in Vacaville. We drove there and Kaitlyn loved it. There were so many fishing things she wanted. After Daddy finished getting what he needed, we loaded back into the car so we could go and get some yum yums!

We went to Applebees and had a delicious dinner. I got the privelage of sitting between the princesses and had a lot of fun. They were so good the entire time we were there!

After dinner, we went to Nana's so that we could sing her happy birthday and have some cake! Kaitlyn and Camaryn quickly realized that this was their favorite part of the day! The girls helped blow out the candles and then quickly began to devour their cupcakes! They did not want to waste any time!

Then, the girls played. And played, and played. It made me realize how lucky we are to be so close to eachother and with eachother.

When Kaitlyn was born, she had quite a few little cousins. The problem was, that no matter how much she loved them and no matter how much she wanted to spend every day playing with them, they were all over the country. No matter how much we'd like to, it isn't possible for us to travel to New York, San Diego, Texas or Alabama for weekly or monthly play dates.

When Kaitlyn was born, she needed and wanted a best-friend. Someone close in age that she could play with, share with and grow up with. Kaitlyn set to work and 9 months later Camaryn was born. Kaitlyn and Camaryn have had 21 months of never living more than 10 minutes apart. They play with eachother at least once a week and get so excited to see eachother. They are both pretty good with sharing and 9 times out of 10 they'll play for hours without a single disagreement.

I really look forward to everything the girls can share together, their school days, girl scouts, double dates, prom, graduation. They are so close that I know they will share their friendship for a lifetime.

When I think about Camaryn turning 2 in only 3 months, I can't believe so much time as past. It reminds me that Kaitlyn is going to be 3 this year. She is already 29 months old and so much fun. She constantly reminds us that she isn't a baby. Yesterday, Daddy and I made the mistake of calling her "baby" and she looked at us with a stern look, put her thumb on her chest and said "Me no Baby, Me Kaitlyn!" and stormed off. Each time we tried to call her baby, she would remind us that she was Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn is 29 months old. She knows all of her colors, can count to 11, can subtract or add up to a couple of numbers, has the memory of her daddy (she seriously remembers things from Christmas without any prompting!), recognizes where all of the freeway exits take us, and understands concepts without seeing them. Such as this and that, or that there is a baby in Mommy's belly growing. Kaitlyn knows all of her letters.  She knows the sounds they make, the order they go in and what they look like.  She has perfected drawing O's, D's, G's, 1's and almost 3's.  She has also figured out how to draw faces and is really good tat them!

Kaitlyn is also a master negotiator.  She'll ask for a cookie and if you give her one, she'll ask, 2 please?  If you say no, she'll say, not 1, 2 puhleeese mommy.  If you say yes, she'll say "Yay, Yippee" and jump and then say, "Now 3 please"  She has a sneaky smile that she uses when she's into something she's not supposed to be.  If she gets into something she shouldn't have, cookies, candy or something of the like, she'll ALWAYS blame Daddy!  It's all his fault!

Kaitlyn loves to laugh, she loves to play dress-up and make-believe (like this morning, I was grandma and she was mommy), she would read books all day long if we let her and she is our little tomboy. While she loves to wear make-up and paint her nails and be in pretty clothes, nothing makes her happier than to be dirty and climbing onto something she shouldn't be!

Kaitlyn is incredibly responsible and won't eat her meals unless mommy and daddy eat too. She makes us sit with her so that she can make sure we're eating like we're supposed to. She also makes sure that Archie and the fishies have food before she'll start to eat. She likes to help give Archie a bath and walks him so he can go "pee pee and poo poo"

Kaitlyn has so much compassion for others. We were watching something on TV the other night that showed the catastrophe of the houses after Katrina. Kaitlyn was really upset and pointed out that the houses were broke. She kept asking why and "where go mommy". She was very happy to watch people fix the houses and the families move in. When she hears a baby cry, she says "oh-no, baby cry" and searched out for the baby to make sure it's ok. When Camaryn is upset she tries to find out why. She wants to know if it's an owie, mad or sad cry.

In the next month or so, we are going to try potty training again. I'm pretty confident that it won't take her long to master. She stays dry all through the nights and during naps. She only peed once every 3-4 hours and poops once a day. She knows were Mommy and Daddy go potty and where Archie goes potty and that diapers are for Babies. My goal is to have only one in diapers at a time!

Today we are going to head over to Grandma and Grandpa's for some fun! We hope that everyone has an incredible day and if you have beautiful weather, enjoy it. If you're like us, try to stay dry!

Kaitlyn would like to first wish her Nana a Very Happy Birthday!!
myspace layouts, myspace codes, glitter graphics

We have to start getting ready, but I thought I would have a mommy brag moment! Kaitlyn was great at Speech Therapy yesterday. Her therapist said that while Kaitlyn has a bit of trouble with a few of the "easy" flash cards, (like "ouch" or "on") but is doing great with the hard cards (like "puppy" or "oh-no").

She also noticed that Kaitlyn likes to lead her in the direction outside. She not only easily remembers the way, but she points and says "this way" and "that way". Kaitlyn has been doing this for a couple of months now and we thought nothing of it. She was incredibly impressed. She said that "this" and "that" is a concept that 2 year old normallly do not every understand. She said it's more typical to understand it closer to 4-5. So yeah Kaitlyn!

Kaitlyn has an evaluation from Alta Vista on Thursday. It will determine how she's advanced in all areas of development in the past 6 months and determine if she still has a need for therapy! Wish her luck!
